  • Can Qt's QWebView display programatically generated XML?

    Using Qt 4.6, I can dynamically add to an HTML page like this: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("body").appendInside("<i>some text</i>\n"); However, if I QWebView::load() an XML file, it displays it with the correct CSS styling (from an processing instruction), but doesn't show any changes when I do something like: ui->webView->page()->mainFrame()->documentElement().findFirst("lines").appendInside("<line>hello</line>\n"); Why is it treating them differently, and is there a way to modify an XML document in the same way I can an HTML one?

  • How do I prevent a font from extending off the top of a textbox?

    I'm using a barcode font (IDAutomationMC39H) in an SSRS 2005 report I'm developing, and while it renders fine in the preview in BIDS, if I export the results to PDF, print the results, or do any of the above (including preview) in Report Manager, the barcode font is extending off the top of the textbox. The barcode itself is nearly 20px tall, even at only a 12pt size. I've tried changing the CanGrow value for the textbox, but it seems that even with that set off the barcode isn't pushing the bottom edge of the textbox downwards, it's simply extending over the top of the box. I've also tried resizing the textbox to allow it to contain the entire height of the font, but even with the VerticalAlign set to Bottom the barcode still sticks to the top of the textbox and overflows out the top.     So... I have never had a need to do a random SELECT on a MySQL DB until this project I'm working on. After researching it seems the general populous says that using RAND() is a bad idea. I found an article that explains how to do another type of random select. Basically, if I want to select 5 random elements, I should do the following (I'm using the Kohana framework here)?   • Why doesn't Request.IsAjaxRequest() work in ASP.NET MVC 3?

    I'm creating a new project, asp.net mvc3 with Razor, and wanting to turn the LogOn into an ajax request. First, looking at the the http response with Fiddler, I notice there is no x-requested-with header. So I add <input type="hidden" name="X-Requested-With" value="XMLHttpRequest" /> That seems to work, but now what I receive back is a Json object, which isn't being parsed and instead Google Chrome is just rendering the Json to screen. Whats happening?

    I have a page with a partialview on it which is a list of items. I have a button on it which shows the next 5 items.   • Create DB in Sql Server based on Visio Data Model

    I have created a database model in Visio Professional (2003). I know that the Enterprise version has the ability to create a DB in Sql Server based on the data in Visio. I do not have the option to install Enterprise. Aside from going through the entire thing one table and relationship at a time and creating the whole database from scratch, by hand, can anyone recommend any tool/utility/method for converting the visio database model into a Sql Script that can be used to create a new DB in Sql Server?

  • nServiceBus registering subscribers but subscribers not receiving messages

    My subscriber queue isn't picking up messages. The only unusual aspect to this is that the publisher is receiving messages which are generated from a website (and then a class library) which are then WCF'd to the publisher who publishes on behalf of the website/class library. If I remove the publisher's <add Messages=""> then I get an error saying the publisher doesn't know where to route the messages. Help! I've almost cut'n'pasted the WcfIntegration and PubSub samples, so I don't know why it isn't working!   • Windows 7 KSOD On Login

    For those that are unaware, KSOD means blacK Screen of Death. Essentially, when windows starts my computer shows only the cursor and a black screen. It seems like any and all shell elements are disabled (or perhaps not started). I have seen a number of these questions asked, none of which have matched my situation. CTRL + ALT + ... does not respond Restarting in safe mode, results in the same KSOD sfc /scannow seems to have no effect when typed at the command prompt that is accessed using the recovery tools via the install disk Update to item 3: sfc /scannow reports: There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again. However, Windows does not restart past KSOD. Update to item 3 as per Soandos comment re: /offbootdir sfc /scannow /offbotdir=e:\ /windir=e:\windows "Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.   • Oracle Internet Directory - Required Schemas already loaded

    After a successful installation of Oracle Internet Directories (OID) I attemped to remove and re-install it with a different configuration. First I ran ./runInstaller.sh -deinstall from the OID middleware directory to uninstall. Then i ran the installer again but it complained on the Specify Schema Database step. Upon connecting to the database, the installer threw: INST-5174: Required schemas are already loaded in the specified database. I connected to the target database and removed the OID schemas I knew of SQL> drop user ODS cascade; SQL> drop user ODSSM cascade; That didn't not work and the error still appears. What steps am I missing? Note: The Database is 11g and it was brand new before installing OID so there is no other data select * from all_users doesn't show any other schemas related to OID from what I can tell, the latest user creation date is OCT 2010

  • unusual backspace behavior in mac terminal

    I'm trying to figure out how to get ssh sessions to work how I want using the terminal app on mac os x. I'm used to using PuTTY on windows, where backspace means backspace. On mac when I press delete/backspace on mac it deletes the character following the cursor instead of the one before. I turned on Delete sends Ctrl + H, and that works most of the time, but sometimes it just shows on the screen as ^H this is typically at prompts from some custom python scripts on the box I log into. This doesn't happen with PuTTY on windows. Btw I'm logging into a Ubuntu Linux server running openssh. Any idea what I need to do so that backspace is consistently backspace.

    I have a sonicwall site to site vpn. At one of the sites there is another Cisco vpn to another site. I need to route the traffic for the cisco vpn through the site to site from the other sonicwall site. Site A - 10.10.0.0 /16 network Site B - 192.168.1.0 /24 Sonicwall, A cisco vpn is on 192.168.1.226 address and has routes the 10.10.0.0 network to Site A. Site C - 192.168.2.0 /24 Sonicwall Site A-B VPN is working Site B-C VPN is working I need to get Site C to transmit the 10.10.0.0 traffic over the VPN to site B and then out the Cisco device.

  • External hard drive becomes unwriteable after awhile

    I have an external USB hard drive mounted in Ubuntu 9.10 with full read/write abilities over SMB. If it stays on for awhile though, I lose the ability to write to it. I end up having to ssh in and unmount, mount, reboot in order to have write ability again. Any reason on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

  • OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 Refuses to Load Websites the first time intermittently

    Many times when I am browsing the web, Snow Leopard will sit and load a site for 20 seconds or more, until it times out and says it cannot be displayed. If I refresh, it loads RIGHT away, every time. The issue is intermittent but happens from once every couple of days to a few times a day. So the long and short of it is this: Aluminum MacBook (Non-Pro) 2.4GHz Core2Duo, 4GB DDR3 I am using 10.6.6 but I have had this issue since 10.6.0 It happens in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari I have flushed my DNS (using the command 'blablabla flush') I am using custom DNS servers which I hoped would fix it but it had no effect* I am running Apache currently but haven't been for most of the time I've reformatted multiple times, always experiencing the issue I am on Cox cable internet, with a Motorola Surfboard & a Belkin F6D4230-4 v1 (Pre?) N wireless router. I've put the router in G only & N only & G+N to no effect It seems to be domain dependant as I can sometimes load the Google cache right away, and sometimes other sites will load but Google will refuse My Powerbook G4 with Leopard, other Windows XP laptops, & my wired Win7 desktop do not suffer from the issue. *I recently started using these to escape the awful Cox redirect page on timeouts I'm almost positive the issue has happened on other networks but I can't recall a specific instance (I have a terrible memory). The problem is intermittent and fixable enough (I just have to wait until it times out and hit refresh one time) but incredibly annoying since I'm constantly reading documentation from a large variety of sites. EDIT: To clarify, this happens with ALL sites, not only specific sites. I haven't been able to detect any pattern to the failures, but one day Google.com will refuse to load while reddit.com will, and the next day vice versa. Keep in mind that waiting for a timeout and hitting refresh loads the page right away, every time. If I don't wait for the timeout, opening more links, hitting refresh, and clicking the link a billion times have no effect. It seems to be domain neutral, affecting sites seemingly at random. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with connection inactivity either, because I will be SSHed into different servers, uploading files, browsing, downloading, etc, and it will just quit loading Jquery.com (for example) until I sit and wait for a timeout. /EDIT This is my last resort. Please, someone, tell me what is happening. Thank you.

  • VLOOKUP and match functions appear to be searching the function rather than value

    Vlookup and match seem to be searching based on the function I have in my cell rather than the value i have in the cell. I have a column with dates, (ex: C2, which has the formula =E2&"/"&F2&"/"&D2 in them, for example). (where E2, F2, D2 are the year, month, and date). In another sheet and column, I have a bunch of dates, and i'm using the formula =VLOOKUP(C2,'sheet2'!A1:B252,2,FALSE), which doesn't work. (returns #N/A) If I replace C2 with the same date, but without the formula (just typing it in), VLOOKUP works. Why is this?

  • No audio from USB device on iMac

    My computer froze the other day and started a buzzing noise. After I restarted in the middle of it, the buzzing persisted. A few restarts later, the buzzing stopped, but I can't get audio to come from my audio interface setup anymore. I'm using an M-Audiophile USB to connect to studio monitors, and there's absolutely no audio. I've tried restarting many times and unplugging - still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

  • What is the best way to downscale mp4 video while keeping it as sharp as possible?

    I've got an .mp4 file that's currently 830x1100 (it's a screencast) that I need to resize down to 114x150. I've been experimenting for hours with ffmpeg settings and nothing comes out looking nice and sharp. The original file looks decent, and I can't figure out why the downscaling makes it look so blurry. Unfortunately I can't share the video because it contains a walkthrough for software that hasn't yet been released.

    I want to see a listing of all the stored procs for each database on a server along with when the last time that store proc was run. I'm pretty good with SQL but I don't know about looking at stats like this that sql keeps so I'd appreciate a little help finding this info.   • Google Chrome not loading web pages correctly unless multiple refreshes

    Webpages in Google Chrome do not load correctly from time to time. I can't reproduce it, it just happens. Some times it happens when I load the browser other times it happens when I am just browsing. Just now I went to five different web sites which 3 out of 5 of them did not load correctly. I have attached a photo of how Super User loaded the first time I loaded it. If I refreshed it it will load correctly. Facebook is bad like this. Some times Facebook will load correctly but some of there back end scripting may not load so the page may not refresh automatically. Not sure what is going on. I have tried other browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer) and they seem to be working correctly. Chrome seems to be acting up only on this computer. All my computers are running Windows 8 and I have removed Chrome completely off this computer and re-installed. I even disabled all extensions and cleared all the caches. I even tried running Chrome without being logged in. Not sure what else to do at this point. An example of superuser.com not loading correctly: When I refresh the problem will go away until it happens again. Sometimes it takes two or three refreshes in order for it to correctly load.

  • How to make a huge ram drive?

    At my old job when a report was needed I could sit down with someone and pull up results and get immediate feedback, and then refine my queries and ultimately have the data we needed, in the format we needed within 30-90 minutes. I just started working for a new company with a database containing millions of records and I spent my whole 8 hours making a report that I feel I could have made in less than 2 hours if it were not for the massive amount of data the queries are working with, and the fact that I couldn't ask the person needing the data to sit down with me and give me feedback as I pulled up results as I am used to. So I am trying to think of how we can make the server faster... much faster, so that I can have the same level of productivity I'm used to. One thought that just came to mind is that memory is so cheap these days, and by my calculations I could buy 10 8gig ram sticks for 1000 bucks. What I have never heard of though is a device that would let me combine these into a huge ram drive. So I'd like to know if any such device exists, and if not what is the largest ram drive I could realistically make and how would I go about doing so? EDIT: To you guys who are saying the database shema needs to be analyzed... you can't make a query such as "Select f1, f2, f3, etc from SomeTable" run any faster by normalizing or indexing the table. What I'm talking about IS ABSOLUTELY a need for improved performance at the hardware level. I am used to having results come back to me in a few seconds, not a few minutes or much less a half an hour. Maybe that's what you guys are used to who have 100 billion record tables and you feel like that's fast, but I'm looking for results back from tables with about 10 million records to come back to me withing less than half a minute TOPS.
