  • Calculate using an Averaged coumn in a pivot

    Hi, I have a pivot which includes goals and year results. Because goal is the same on each meausure, I have to average the goal in the pivot in order to show the correct amount. I then want to calculate v% between the goal and the year result. Because the goal is averaged, v% cannot be calculated correctly. Does anyone know of a way to do calcuation like this in a pivot?   • Huge excel sheet taking too long to update links or calculate formulae

    I have Excel sheet with 5000 rows and columns till AY (size 12MB). Except for the first 6 columns, rest contain either vlookups or formulae. All the vlookups are in separate Excel sheet. I have changed the Excel setting to manually update the links and calculate formulae. Now everytime I try to update the links, either the Excel sheet hangs or it takes something like 15 minutes. Any ideas on how I can get it done quickly.

    Edit: I will summerize my question since it is very long (Thanks Len for pointing it out) What I'm trying to find out is to get a new position of a player after an X amount of time. The following variables are known: - Speed - Length between the 2 points - Source position (X, Y) - Destination position (X, Y) How can I calculate a position between the source and destion with these variables given? For example: source: 0, 0 destination: 10, 0 speed: 1 so after 1 second the players position would be 1, 0 The code below works but it's quite long so I'm looking for something shorter/more logical ====================================================================== I'm having a hard time figuring out how to calculate a new position of a player ingame. This code is server sided used to track a player(It's a emulator so I don't have access to the clients code). The collision detection of the server works fine I'm using bresenham's line algorithm and a raycast to determine at which point a collision happens. Once I deteremined the collision I calculate the length of the path the player is about to walk and also the total time. I would like to know the new position of a player each second. This is the code I'm currently using.     Hi guys, I wrote a function that can calculate the distance between two addresses using the Google Maps API. The addresses are obtained from the database. What I want to do is calculate the distance using the function I wrote and sort the places according to the distance. Just like "Locate Store Near You" feature in online stores. I'm going to specify what I want to do with an example: So, lets say we have 10 addresses in database. And we have a variable $currentlocation. And I have a function called calcdist(), so that I can calculate the distances between 10 addresses and $currentlocation, and sort them. It doesn't sort the numbers. Another challenge: How can I do this in an efficient way? Imagine there are infinite numbers of addresses; how can I sort these addresses and page them?

  • The most efficient way to calculate an integral in a dataset range

    I have an array of 10 rows by 20 columns. Each columns corresponds to a data set that cannot be fitted with any sort of continuous mathematical function (it's a series of numbers derived experimentally). I would like to calculate the integral of each column between row 4 and row 8, then store the obtained result in a new array (20 rows x 1 column). I have tried using different scipy.integrate modules (e.g. quad, trpz,...). The problem is that, from what I understand, scipy.integrate must be applied to functions, and I am not sure how to convert each column of my initial array into a function. As an alternative, I thought of calculating the average of each column between row 4 and row 8, then multiply this number by 4 (i.e. 8-4=4, the x-interval) and then store this into my final 20x1 array. The problem is...ehm...that I don't know how to calculate the average over a given range. The question I am asking are: Which method is more efficient/straightforward? Can integrals be calculated over a data set like the one that I have described? How do I calculate the average over a range of rows?
