  • Reset UITextField's original placeholder text

    I'm adding some user feedback mechanism into my app. The user types some comments into a text field and when that editing is done it updates a UITextView. Then when the user hits the submit button and moves on in the app the user may have need to send more feedback from the same form for a different item. I can reset the other fields and labels in the app to their default values when I hide the view, but not the textField (?). How can I reestablish the placeholder text next time the user accesses this view? Your suggestions are humbly appreciated.

  • wordpress: previous_post_link() / next_post_link() placeholder

    I am having trouble with the previous_post_link() and next_post_link() functionality. When there is no previous post, the function previous_post_link() does not display a link, likewise for the next_post_link() and the last post. I would like to have a placeholder image so that the design stays consistent. Currently I have images of green arrows pointing left and right, I would like to place an image of a grey arrow if there are no more posts to go back to. Is there a way to use the next_post_link()/previous_post_link() functions but not have the link removed. I also wonder if there is a way for the links to cycle, so that if you come to the most recent post, the next post link would bring you back to the first post.

  • Is there a proper way to clear logs?

    I was wondering if there was a proper way to clear logs in general? I'm new to Ubuntu and I'm trying to set up Postfix. The log in question is /var/log/mail.log. I was wondering if there was a correct way to clear it, rather than me going in it and deleting all the lines and saving it. I find that sometimes errors don't get written to it immediately after I clear the log and save it. Side note: I'm having trouble setting up Postfix and am trying to make it easier for me to read the logs hoping it can help me out, instead of having to scroll all the way down.

  • GridView paging inside an UpdatePanel or PlaceHolder components

    Hello, I'm new to ASP.NET. Im developing ASP.NET C# web form which creating GridView components dynamically and filling them using the data received from my webservice. I'm creating these GridView components programmatically in server-side (cs file)- it has to be flexible - 1 GridView and sometimes 10 GridView components. The problem occurs when I'm trying to add pagination - whenever the user clicks the "next" page, the whole page is getting refreshed because of a postBack and I'm loosing all my data and the page returns Blank/Empty. I used PlaceHolder to hold the GridView components, while searching for a solution, I found UpdatePanel as a better alternative - as far as I understand the page can be partially refreshed - which means that only the UpdatePanel has to be refreshed...but it doesn't work. The following code sample is my TEST, the UpdatePanel is the only component initiated in the client side (aspx page), the rest initiated programmatically in CS. how can I solve the issue described above? Why does the whole page is getting refreshed and I'm loosing my data? can you recommend another way? can provide me with any code sample? If I'm not rebuilding the GridView, it doesn't work...   • Track kids browsing history even when they know how to clear it manually

    I have a colleague with two teenage boys (yes, cue cliche's about 'I have this friend see...') He's currently having issues with them browsing pr0n and wants to do a little spying on their browsing (I'm staying clear of the philosophies/ethics on this.) The kids are savvy enough to clear their browsing history when they're done. As I'm his goto for IT he has asked me if there is a way to keep a hold of the browsing history. The family uses Macs, and the kids surf with Safari. I know that browsing history is kept here ~/Library/Safari/History.plist. I figure there should be a way to write either an AppleScript or other script (Python/Ruby/Bash) that can backup this file to a different location (/opt/local/history, etc.) Since the kids know to clear their history when they're done should the file be periodically backed up with something similar to a cron job or something like Hazel? While that could work it seems like it would create a ton of little incremental backups. Or is it possible to 'watch' ~/Library/Safari/History.plist and incrementally add changes to a backup file (saving a diff so to speak) but not lose any data? Any ideas/solutions appreciated. UPDATE/EDIT: Got the word from concerned dad that the oldest uses Firefox on a different PC, so the OpenDNS solution (preferably at the router level) is the best answer so far as it would capture usage for the whole house.

    I have an ASP.NET site that uses its own set of HTTP handlers and does not need any modules. So, in IIS6, all I had to do was this in my web.config: <httpModules> <clear /> </httpModules> However, if I try to do the same in the system.webServer area for IIS7, I get a 500 error when I try to view the site, and in IIS manager when I try to view the handler mappings, I get a popup box with the message: There was an error while performing this operation Details: Filename: \?\C:\Sites\TheWebSiteGoesHere\web.config Line number: 39 Error: Lock violation Line 39 is where the <clear /> element is. Some googling led me to a solution involving running this command: %windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe unlock config -section:system.webServer/modules ...but that did not solve the problem.

    I replaced a battery in APC SmartUPS by hot-swapping. While the swap was all right and didn't disturb connected computers, the "Battery failed" LED on the front face kept glowing. I tried to use apctest from apcups package. Turned off the daemon and run self test (first changing BATTDATE in EEPROM). The test run fine but didn't clear the REPLACEBATT status or the glowing LED. How to clear the failed battery state without powering the UPS and connected equipment down?

    I have a problem with really exotic thing - Microsoft Clear Screen Saver. As it's name suggests, it's a screen saver, that's transparent (MS posted it as a part of W2k Resource Kit). When you move the mouse/hit a key, the "lock" dialog appears. I would like to use this to view servers desktops without need to log in. I tested it on my XP's, and it works flawlessy. But on W2K3 servers it doesn't work. After the screensaver timeout, the error message is displayed: "The Clear Screen Saver cannot display the user desktop after the workstation has been locked"

I am able to dynamically add a single instance of this by placing a fixed placeholder in the page. I am now trying to work out how to add more than one, given that I don't know how many might be needed I don't want to hard code the Placeholders.   • ASP.NET Content Web Form - content from placeholder disappears

    I'm attempting to set a class on the body tag in my asp.net site which uses a master page and content web forms. I simply want to be able to do this by adding a bodycssclass property (see below) to the content web form page directive. It works through the solution below but when i attempt to view Default.aspx the Content1 control loses its content. Any ideas why? Here is how I'm doing it.   • Rails: Passing new child object placeholder (build) to parent view

    I've got 2 classes of objects... Magician has_many Rabbits and Rabbit belongs_to Magician. When viewing a Magician (show.html) I'd like to list all the associated Rabbits and then have some blank fields with a submit button to add a new Rabbit. To do so I build a new rabbit (associated to the current magician) in the Magician's show method (below). Edit2: found way to make it work but not sure if it's the "Rails way"? see comments inline (below): If I build the rabbit in Magician's show method then when show is rendered an empty (and invalid) rabbit ends the list before the new rabbit form fields are then shown. If I build it in the view itself then everything works & renders correctly.     Hey Guys, I'm new to jQuery and have an annoying problem. I have some login fields that are filled with default text when the field is empty and then removed when clicked. Steps: Clear cache tables (Site Configuration Performance Clear Cached Data button) on localhost Export db and then import on live server Move files/folders to live server Edit settings.php to reflect live server config everything is working great until I make Clear Cached Data on Server. than my custom theme, custom front page, etc... all mess up :( What can be the problem? I used a subtheme for Zen, named mgf . then I had taken a back-up as mgf- somehow after I make Clear Cached Data, Drupal links to this mgf- which is old and doesnt have latest stylings. I just removed this folder from themes, and it linked to the right-latest mgf.

    I'm not a webmaster, not even a web developer, but I'm tasked with adding content to a Wordpress site developed by Someone Else(TM). It shows up nice in Firefox: But in IE9 the floated picture pushed down the text in the table below, so that it looks rather awful: I found some related questions on the web, e.g. "CSS: Float right in IE doesn't work!" and "why does a floating DIV mess up table positioning?", and the suggestions there led me to set clear: none on the div around the table, the table itself, and then each individual tr and finally even on each individual td. I also set width="99%" on the table, and tried (but I don't know how correctly) to apply the IE6 quirk fix margin-right: -3px. However, I'm unable to reproduce the effect with default styling or with clear: none (as above). So it seems maybe it's something Wordpress does, or maybe it's something the theme thing or whatever it is does – but it's very similar to what others have observed, so there is strong indication that it's also a quirk in IE. Help?
