  • Java Apache Commons users

    - by Tom Brito
    Is there anything in apache commons to convert a Object to byte array, like the following method does? public static byte[] toByteArray(Object obj) throws IOException { ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(baos); oos.writeObject(obj); oos.flush(); byte[] data = baos.toByteArray(); return data; } [try-finally block closing buffers were omitted to simplify]

  • httpURLConnection vs apache commons http

    - by Pablo Fernandez
    Hi everyone! I just wanted to know if any of you had any problems using java default HttpURLConnection class. Some kind of bug that made you switch to apache commons. Or is it just the (ugly) interface that class exposes that justifies the birth of 3rd party http lib? Disclosure: I heard some arguments against java.net having some serious problems, but I'm finding hard to believe that a class that is part of the java core distribution still has issues after several releases of the JDK

  • Java apache commons library source license question

    - by llm
    I want to use functionality from a certain method in apache commons StringUtils. I currently do not have the option of just using the library as one would normally do. I found the source for the method I need and my question is: am I free (legally) to use this code (just a method out of the library) or do I have to use the entire library? If its ok, what kind of attribution would I need in my code, if any? Thanks.

  • How safe is apache Commons-javaflow while using jasperreports

    - by Nayn
    Hi, I am using jasperreport and trying to pass an alternate report runner. • net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRThreadSubreportRunner: The initial thread-based implementation • net.sf.jasperreports.engine.fill.JRContinuationSubreportRunner: A Javaflow-based implementation I am using the second one (for the reason, it runs on tomcat server, and creating threads wouldn't be good while writing subreports). The second one depends on commons-javaflow which is a sandbox version. Not sure if I should use it, Could somebody suggest a better way. Thanks

  • How to fetch parameters when using the Apache Commons CLI library

    - by Mridang Agarwalla
    I'm using the Apache Commons CLI to handle command line arguments in Java. I've figured out my way around it to a decent extent but I need a little help. I've declared the a and b options and I'm able to access the value using CommandLine.getOptionValue. Usage: myapp [OPTION] [DIRECTORY] Options: -a Option A -b Option B How do I declare and access the DIRECTORY variable? Thank you.

  • Problem Using POI To Set CellStyleProperty With HSSFCellUtil

    - by Alvin Sim
    I have a Java class which uses Apache POI to generate reports in Excel. When I run the Java class from my IDE or command prompt, I only see warning messages from LOG4J as below: log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.apache.commons.beanutils.converters.BooleanConverter). log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. log4j:WARN See http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/faq.html#noconfig for more info. Despite the warning messages, the report was generated successfully. But when I run it from my web app, which uses JSP and submits the form to a Servlet which calls the Java class, the Java class seems to have problems setting the style properties to the cell. Below are the Java code and also the stack trace. I'm testing this on a Standalone OC4J and the IDE which I'm using is Oracle's JDeveloper. And the Java JDK is 1.4.2. I've been looking high and low the whole day yesterday but can't seem to find out why. Code: region = new Region(1, (short) 1, 5, (short)2); sheet.addMergedRegion(region); HSSFRegionUtil.setBorderBottom( (short) 1, region, sheet, workBook ); Stack trace: 10/06/07 16:03:17 SvltRptProcessor ACTION=print_to_file RPT_CLASSNAME=com.reports.BP.DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt DES_TYPE=file DES_FORMAT=xls 10/06/07 16:03:17 rptFilename=/oracle/reports//20100607_160317_BP_DailySalesBudgetByPmgrp_OPR.xls 10/06/07 16:03:17 ReportRunner printToFile execute -> com.reports.BP.DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt 10/06/07 16:03:17 enter daily sales budget excel rpt -----> print() 10/06/07 16:03:18 Tutalii: C:\oc4j10gmy\j2ee\home\applib\poi-2.5.1.jar archive 10/06/07 16:03:19 org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: No suitable Log constructor 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.LogFactoryImpl.newInstance(LogFactoryImpl.java:509) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.LogFactoryImpl.getInstance(LogFactoryImpl.java:285) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.LogFactoryImpl.getInstance(LogFactoryImpl.java:255) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory.getLog(LogFactory.java:381) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.beanutils.ConvertUtilsBean.<init>(ConvertUtilsBean.java:157) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.beanutils.BeanUtilsBean.<init>(BeanUtilsBean.java:117) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.beanutils.BeanUtilsBean$1.initialValue(BeanUtilsBean.java:68) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.beanutils.ContextClassLoaderLocal.get(ContextClassLoaderLocal.java:153) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.beanutils.BeanUtilsBean.getInstance(BeanUtilsBean.java:80) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.beanutils.PropertyUtilsBean.getInstance(PropertyUtilsBean.java:114) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.beanutils.PropertyUtils.describe(PropertyUtils.java:209) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.poi.hssf.usermodel.contrib.HSSFCellUtil.setCellStyleProperty(HSSFCellUtil.java:174) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.poi.hssf.usermodel.contrib.HSSFRegionUtil. setBorderBottom(HSSFRegionUtil.java:153) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at com.reports.BP.DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.setRegion(DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.java:773) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at com.reports.BP.DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.createHdr(DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.java:308) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at com.reports.BP.DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.start(DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.java:272) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at com.reports.BP.DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.print(DailySalesBudgetExcelRpt.java:222) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at com.servlet.RPT.ReportRunner.printToFile(ReportRunner.java:601) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at com.servlet.RPT.ReportRunner.doPrint(ReportRunner.java:302) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at com.servlet.RPT.ReportRunner.run(ReportRunner.java:270) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) 10/06/07 16:03:19 Caused by: org.apache.commons.logging.LogConfigurationException: No suitable Log constructor 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.LogFactoryImpl.getLogConstructor(LogFactoryImpl.java:420) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.LogFactoryImpl.newInstance(LogFactoryImpl.java:502) 10/06/07 16:03:19 ... 20 more 10/06/07 16:03:19 Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/log4j/Category 10/06/07 16:03:19 at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredConstructors0(Native Method) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredConstructors(Class. java:2389) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Class.java:2699) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at java.lang.Class.getConstructor(Class.java:1657) 10/06/07 16:03:19 at org.apache.commons.logging.impl.LogFactoryImpl.getLogConstructor(LogFactoryImpl.java:417) 10/06/07 16:03:19 ... 21 more 10/06/07 16:03:19 Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.log4j.   • Deciding between Apache Commons exec or ProcessBuilder

    - by Moev4
    I am trying to decide as to whether to use ProcessBuilder or Commons exec, My requirements are that I am simply trying to create a daemon process whose stdout/stdin/stderr I do not care about. In addition I want to execute a kill to destroy this process when the time comes. I am using Java on Linux. I know that both have their pains and pitfalls (such as being sure to use separate thread to swallow streams can lead to blocking or deadlocks, and closing the streams so not to leave open files hanging around)and wanted to know if anyone had suggestions one way or the other as well as any good resources to follow.

  • HTTP Post requests using HttpClient take 2 seconds, why?

    - by pableu
    Update: You might better hold off this for a bit, I just noticed I could be my fault after all. Working on this all afternoon, and then I find a flaw ten minutes after posting here, ts. Hi, I'am currently coding an android app that submits stuff in the background using HTTP Post and AsyncTask. I use the org.apache.http.client Package for this. I based my code on this example. Basically, my code looks like this: public void postData() { // Create a new HttpClient and Post Header HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpPost httppost = new HttpPost("http://192.168.1.137:8880/form"); try { List<NameValuePair> nameValuePairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(2); nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("id", "12345")); nameValuePairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("stringdata", "AndDev is Cool!")); httppost.setEntity(new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs)); // Execute HTTP Post Request HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httppost); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { Log.e(TAG,e.toString()); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e(TAG,e.toString()); } } The problem is that the httpclient.execute(..) line takes around 1.5 to 3 seconds, and I do not understand why. Just requesting a page with HTTP Get takes around 80 ms or so, so the problem doesn't seem to be the network latency itself. The problem doesn't seem to be on the server side either, I have also tried POSTing data to http://www.disney.com/ with similarly slow results. And Firebug shows 1 ms response time when POSTing data to my server locally. This happens on the Emulator and with my Nexus One (both with Android 2.2). If you want to look at the complete code, I've put it on GitHub. It's just a dummy program to do HTTP Post in the background using AsyncTask on the push of a button. It's my first Android app, and my first java code for a long time. And incidentially, also my first question on Stackoverflow ;-) Any ideas why httpclient.execute(httppost) takes so long?

  • How to continue copying on error with copyDirectory from FileUtils (Apache Commons IO 2.4)

    - by Exocom
    I am trying to copy files from one folder to another using the FileUtils method "static void copyDirectory(File srcDir, File destDir)" from apache commons io (2.4) with the following code: String srcDir = "/sourceDirectory/examples/"; String destDir = "/tmp/examples/"; try{ FileUtils.copyDirectory(new File(srcDir), new File(destDir)); } catch (IOException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } The file structure looks like the following: examples/ (read access) examples/.subdirectory (NO access) examples/file1.txt (read access) examples/file2.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file1.txt (read access) examples/subdirectory2/file2.txt (NO access) The problem is, that in srcDir there are a few files and one subdirectory I don't have access to. FileUtils.copyDirectory throws an "java.io.FileNotFoundException: .subdirectory (Permission denied)" and aborts. Is it possible to ignore those files I don't have permission to and just copy all the other files I can read?

  • Commons VFS and IBM MVS System

    - by Liming
    Hello All, I'm using Apache Commons VFS / SFTP, we are trying to download files from the IBM MVS system. The download part is all good, however, we can not open up the zipped files after downloading. Seems like the zip file was compressed using a different algorithm or something Anyone has any pointers? *Note, the same function works fine if we connect to a regular unix/linux SFTP server. Below is an example of what we did String defaultHost = "[my sftp ip address]"; String host = defaultHost; String defaultRemotePath = "//__root.dir1.dir2."; String remotePath = defaultRemotePath; String user = "test"; String password = "test"; String remoteFileName = "Blah.ZIP.BLAH"; log.info("FtpPojo() begin instantiation"); FileObject localFileObject = fsManager.resolveFile("C:/Work/Blah.ZIP.BLAH"); log.debug("local file name is :"+localFileObject.getName().getBaseName()); log.debug("FtpPojo() instantiated and fsManager created"); String uri = createSftpUri(host, user, password) + ":322"+remotePath+remoteFileName; remoteRepo = fsManager.resolveFile(uri, fsOptions); remoteRepo.copyFrom(localFileObject, Selectors.SELECT_ALL);

  • Apache Commons PropertiesConfiguration escapes characters on Save [migrated]

    - by Anuvrat
    I am using the commons-configuration from apache commons library. I have a properties file which has properties like: blog_loc=http://my.blog.com blog_name="my blog name" I open the properties file, change the blog_name property and save the file. The following are the lines of code I use: PropertiesConfiguration propertyFile = new PropertiesConfiguration(propertyFileName); propertyFile.setProperty(blog_name, "blog name"); propertyFile.save(propertyFileName + ".out"); Unfortunately, in the output file certain characters get escaped as follows: blog_loc=http:\/\/my.blog.com blog_name=\"blog name\" Is there any way of preventing escaping of the above characters?

  • How to use apache beanutils in a NetBeans platform project? (Error with commons-logging)

    - by I82Much
    For starters, this question is not so much about programming in the NetBeans IDE as developing a NetBeans project (e.g. using the NetBeans Platform framework). I am attempting to use the BeanUtils library to introspect my domain models and provide the properties to display in a property sheet. Sample code: public class MyNode extends AbstractNode implements PropertyChangeListener { private static final PropertyUtilsBean bean = new PropertyUtilsBean(); // snip protected Sheet createSheet() { Sheet sheet = Sheet.createDefault(); Sheet.Set set = Sheet.createPropertiesSet(); APIObject obj = getLookup().lookup (APIObject.class); PropertyDescriptor[] descriptors = bean.getPropertyDescriptors(obj); for (PropertyDescriptor d : descriptors) { Method readMethod = d.getReadMethod(); Method writeMethod = d.getWriteMethod(); Class valueType = d.getClass(); Property p = new PropertySupport.Reflection(obj, valueType, readMethod, writeMethod); set.put(p); } sheet.put(set); return sheet; } I have created a wrapper module around commons-beanutils-1.8.3.jar, and added a dependency on the module in my module containing the above code. Everything compiles fine. When I attempt to run the program and open the property sheet view (i.e.. the above code actually gets run), I get the following error: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:319) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:330) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:254) at org.netbeans.ProxyClassLoader.loadClass(ProxyClassLoader.java:259) Caused: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory starting from ModuleCL@64e48e45[org.apache.commons.beanutils] with possible defining loaders [ModuleCL@75da931b[org.netbeans.libs.commons_logging]] and declared parents [] at org.netbeans.ProxyClassLoader.loadClass(ProxyClassLoader.java:261) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:254) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:399) Caused: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/commons/logging/LogFactory at org.apache.commons.beanutils.PropertyUtilsBean.<init>(PropertyUtilsBean.java:132) at org.myorg.myeditor.MyNode.<clinit>(MyNode.java:35) at org.myorg.myeditor.MyEditor.<init>(MyEditor.java:33) at org.myorg.myeditor.OpenEditorAction.actionPerformed(OpenEditorAction.java:13) at org.openide.awt.AlwaysEnabledAction$1.run(AlwaysEnabledAction.java:139) at org.netbeans.modules.openide.util.ActionsBridge.implPerformAction(ActionsBridge.java:83) at org.netbeans.modules.openide.util.ActionsBridge.doPerformAction(ActionsBridge.java:67) at org.openide.awt.AlwaysEnabledAction.actionPerformed(AlwaysEnabledAction.java:142) at javax.swing.AbstractButton.fireActionPerformed(AbstractButton.java:2028) at javax.swing.AbstractButton$Handler.actionPerformed(AbstractButton.java:2351) at javax.swing.DefaultButtonModel.fireActionPerformed(DefaultButtonModel.java:387) at javax.swing.DefaultButtonModel.setPressed(DefaultButtonModel.java:242) at javax.swing.AbstractButton.doClick(AbstractButton.java:389) at com.apple.laf.ScreenMenuItem.actionPerformed(ScreenMenuItem.java:95) at java.awt.MenuItem.processActionEvent(MenuItem.java:627) at java.awt.MenuItem.processEvent(MenuItem.java:586) at java.awt.MenuComponent.dispatchEventImpl(MenuComponent.java:317) at java.awt.MenuComponent.dispatchEvent(MenuComponent.java:305) [catch] at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java:638) at org.netbeans.core.TimableEventQueue.dispatchEvent(TimableEventQueue.java:125) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForFilters(EventDispatchThread.java:296) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForFilter(EventDispatchThread.java:211) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:201) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:196) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:188) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:122) I understand that beanutils is using the commons-logging component (wish it mentioned that in the javadoc, but that's OK). I have tried adding the commons-logging component in two different ways (creating a wrapper library around the commons-logging library, and putting a dependency on the Commons Logging Integration library). Neither solves the problem. Has anyone successfully used BeanUtils in a NetBeans Platform project?

  • Is this a good implementation of DefaultHttpClient and ThreadSafeClientConnManager in Android?

    - by johnrock
    In my Android app I am sharing one httpclient for all activities/threads. All requests are made by callling getHttpClient().execute(httpget) or getHttpClient().execute(httppost). Is this implementation complete/correct and safe for multiple threads? Is there anything else missing i.e. Do I have to worry about releasing connections at all? private static HttpClient httpclient ; public static HttpClient getHttpClient() { if(httpclient == null){ return getHttpClientNew(); } else{ return httpclient; } } public static synchronized HttpClient getHttpClientNew() { HttpParams params = new BasicHttpParams(); ConnManagerParams.setMaxTotalConnections(params, 100); HttpProtocolParams.setVersion(params, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1); HttpProtocolParams.setContentCharset(params, "UTF_8"); HttpProtocolParams.setUseExpectContinue(params, false); HttpConnectionParams.setConnectionTimeout(params, 10000); HttpConnectionParams.setSoTimeout(params, 10000); SchemeRegistry schemeRegistry = new SchemeRegistry(); schemeRegistry.register(new Scheme("http", PlainSocketFactory.getSocketFactory(), 80)); ClientConnectionManager cm = new ThreadSafeClientConnManager(params, schemeRegistry); httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(cm, params); return httpclient; } This is an example of how the httpclient is used: private void update() { HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(URL); httpget.setHeader(USER_AGENT, userAgent); httpget.setHeader(CONTENT_TYPE, MGUtils.APP_XML); HttpResponse response; try { response = getHttpClient().execute(httpget); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); if (entity != null) { // parse stuff } } catch (Exception e) { } }

But if i try to get that page using browser it's done successfully. Details: 1. I upload multipart form to server this way: HttpPost httpPost = new HttpPost("http://[host here]/in.php"); MultipartEntity entity = new MultipartEntity(HttpMultipartMode.BROWSER_COMPATIBLE); entity.addPart("method", new StringBody("post")); entity.addPart("key", new StringBody("223fwe0923fjf23")); FileBody fileBody = new FileBody(new File("photo.jpg"), "image/jpeg"); entity.addPart("file", fileBody); httpPost.setEntity(entity); HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(httpPost); HttpEntity result = response.getEntity(); String responseString = ""; if (result != null) { InputStream inputStream = result.getContent(); byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; while(inputStream.read(buffer) > 0) responseString += new String(buffer); result.consumeContent(); } Uppload succefully ends. I'm getting some results from web server: HttpGet httpGet = new HttpGet("http://[host here]/res.php?key="+myKey+"&action=get&id="+id); HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(httpGet); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); I'm getting ClientProtocolException while execute method run. I was debugging this situation with log4j. Server answers "404 Not Found". But my browser loads me that page with no problem. Can anybody help me? Thank you.

  • apache commons http client efficiency

    - by wo_shi_ni_ba_ba
    I use apache commons http client to send data via post every second, is there a way to make the following code more efficient? I know http is stateless, but is there anything I can do to improve since the base url is always the same in this case(only the parameter value change. private void sendData(String s){ try { HttpClient client = getHttpClient(); HttpPost method = new HttpPost("http://192.168.1.100:8080/myapp"); System.err.println("send to server "+s); List formparams = new ArrayList(); formparams.add(new BasicNameValuePair("packet", s)); UrlEncodedFormEntity entity = new UrlEncodedFormEntity(formparams, "UTF-8"); method.setEntity(entity); HttpResponse resp=client.execute(method); String res = EntityUtils.toString(resp.getEntity()); System.out.println(res); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } private HttpClient getHttpClient() { if(httpClient==null){ httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); } return httpClient; }

  • commons-exec: hanging when I call executor.execute(commandLine);

    - by Stefan Kendall
    I have no idea why this is hanging. I'm trying to capture output from a process run through commons-exec, and I continue to hang. I've provided an example program to demonstrate this behavior below. import java.io.DataInputStream; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.PipedInputStream; import java.io.PipedOutputStream; import org.apache.commons.exec.CommandLine; import org.apache.commons.exec.DefaultExecutor; import org.apache.commons.exec.ExecuteException; import org.apache.commons.exec.PumpStreamHandler; public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { String command = "java"; PipedOutputStream output = new PipedOutputStream(); PumpStreamHandler psh = new PumpStreamHandler(output); CommandLine cl = CommandLine.parse(command); DefaultExecutor exec = new DefaultExecutor(); DataInputStream is = null; try { is = new DataInputStream(new PipedInputStream(output)); exec.setStreamHandler(psh); exec.execute(cl); } catch (ExecuteException ex) { } catch (IOException ex) { } System.out.println("huh?"); } }

  • Why do I get empty request from the Jakarta Commons HttpClient?

    - by polyurethan
    I have a problem with the Jakarta Commons HttpClient. Before my self-written HttpServer gets the real request there is one request which is completely empty. That's the first problem. The second problem is, sometimes the request data ends after the third or fourth line of the http request: POST / HTTP/1.1 User-Agent: Jakarta Commons-HttpClient/3.1 Host: 127.0.0.1:4232 For debugging I am using the Axis TCPMonitor. There every things is fine but the empty request. How I process the stream: StringBuffer requestBuffer = new StringBuffer(); InputStreamReader is = new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream(), "UTF-8"); int byteIn = -1; do { byteIn = is.read(); if (byteIn > 0) { requestBuffer.append((char) byteIn); } } while (byteIn != -1 && is.ready()); String requestData = requestBuffer.toString(); How I send the request: client.getParams().setSoTimeout(30000); method = new PostMethod(url.getPath()); method.getParams().setContentCharset("utf-8"); method.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/xml; charset=utf-8"); method.addRequestHeader("Connection", "close"); method.setFollowRedirects(false); byte[] requestXml = getRequestXml(); method.setRequestEntity(new InputStreamRequestEntity(new ByteArrayInputStream(requestXml))); client.executeMethod(method); int statusCode = method.getStatusCode(); Have anyone of you an idea how to solve these problems? • How to properly encode "[" and "]" in queries using Apache HttpClient?

    - by Jason Nichols
    I've got a GET method that looks like the following: GetMethod method = new GetMethod("http://host/path/?key=[\"item\",\"item\"]"); Such a path works just fine when typed directly into a browser, but the above line when run causes an IllegalArgumentException : Invalid URI. I've looked at using the URIUtils class, but without success. Is there a way to automatically encode this (or to add a query string onto the URL without causing HttpClient to barf?).

  • SSLException: HelloRequest followed by an unexpected handshake message

    - by mseebach
    I'm trying to connect to a webservice over SSL using Apache Commons HttpClient 3.1, using this: String url = "https://archprod.service.eogs.dk/cvronline/esb/LegalUnitGetSSLServicePort"; HttpClient client = new HttpClient(); PostMethod post = new PostMethod(url); StringRequestEntity entity = new StringRequestEntity(requestXml, "application/soap+xml", "utf-8"); post.setRequestEntity(entity); client.executeMethod(post); String response = post.getResponseBodyAsString(); And I get this exception: javax.net.ssl.SSLException: HelloRequest followed by an unexpected handshake message at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Alerts.getSSLException(Alerts.java:190) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.fatal(SSLSocketImpl.java:1623) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Handshaker.fatalSE(Handshaker.java:198) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Handshaker.fatalSE(Handshaker.java:188) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.ClientHandshaker.serverHelloRequest(ClientHandshaker.java:286) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.ClientHandshaker.processMessage(ClientHandshaker.java:114) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Handshaker.processLoop(Handshaker.java:525) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Handshaker.process_record(Handshaker.java:465) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.readRecord(SSLSocketImpl.java:884) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.readDataRecord(SSLSocketImpl.java:746) at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.AppInputStream.read(AppInputStream.java:75) at java.io.BufferedInputStream.fill(BufferedInputStream.java:218) at java.io.BufferedInputStream.read(BufferedInputStream.java:237) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpParser.readRawLine(HttpParser.java:78) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpParser.readLine(HttpParser.java:106) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpConnection.readLine(HttpConnection.java:1116) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodBase.readStatusLine(HttpMethodBase.java:1973) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodBase.readResponse(HttpMethodBase.java:1735) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodBase.execute(HttpMethodBase.java:1098) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodDirector.executeWithRetry(HttpMethodDirector.java:398) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodDirector.executeMethod(HttpMethodDirector.java:171) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpClient.executeMethod(HttpClient.java:397) at org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpClient.executeMethod(HttpClient.java:323) A request to the same URL on the same machine, using curl, works fine - and if I change the URL to e.g. https://www.verisign.com, it works fine in Java, too. So it appears to be the specific combination of Java and that host, not a general problem. Ubuntu 10.04 beta, Sun JDK 1.6.0_19 (same problem in Ubuntu's bundled OpenJDK 6b18~pre4). Any ideas what's going wrong? Thanks!
