    Hi, I'll start off with what I want so it may be simpler to understand: I have a Page (Master.xaml) that has has a listbox of PersonViewModel. When the user selects a PersonViewModel from the listbox, I want to Navigate to a details (Details.xaml) page of the selected PersonViewModel. The details page does some extra heavy lifting that I only want done once the user navigates to the page. (I don't want too much stuff loaded in each PersonViewModel of the master listbox) So how do you guys handle master/detail scenarios with navigation while maintaining "blendability"? I've been turing in circles for the past week. there seems to be no clean solution for something that should be quite common?

    I have a UIPopOverController that shows a UIViewController with a UITableview in its view. The cells in the table have a detailedView, but whenever that view gets pushed, the PopOverController increases in size, and I am left with all this white space inside it. Question is this: Can anyone show me how I can have a Master/Detail UITableview show inside a PopOverController whilst preserving its dimensions?   • MS Access Draw line around detail section that can grow

    This really shouldn't be hard, I just can't figure out how to do it. I am making a proposal report that needs to have a border around it. The problem is to get the vertical lines on the side. I can't figure out how to get a line to grow and shrink based on the height of the detail section. I have used Crystal reports and sure wish Microsoft would learn a few things in regards to MS Access report writing! I am very comfortable with VBA so have no fears there. :-) Thanks, Jeff

  • iPhone Application crashing upon loading a new Detail View

    Hi, My problem is when trying to load a detail view through a table cell, the application constantly crashes. The error that comes up when running through debug is "__TERMINATING_DUE_TO_UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION___" objc exception thrown. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.     I am using Xcode's SplitView template as the base for my project and I only want to accept Landscape mode.     My class inherit from UITableViewCell, i have make some custom transitions to push a new detail view when an image get selected. [UIView transitionWithView:self.masterView duration:0.5 options:UIViewAnimationOptionShowHideTransitionViews animations:^ { [self.masterView addSubview:self.detailImage]; } completion:nil]; My code works fine, the detailImage subview is shown with a transition, but this transition is not what i want exactly. What i want to perform is a simple transition from bottom to up. The list of UIViewAnimation doesn't contain such animation. Is there any way to use that transition without changing my class inheritance to UINavigationController ?

    I have been attempting to add a Deployment Project to my web app. When I build it, I get a message "An error occurred when merging assemblies: Exception from HRESULT: 0x806D0004". There is no other detail, like ILMerge error, or Duplicate Name.   • VB.Net Custom Object Master-Detail Data Binding

    Since beginning to use VB.Net some years ago I have become slowly familiar with using the data binding features of .Net, however I often find my self bewildered by it's behavior and instead of discover the correct way it should work I find some dirty work around to suit my needs and continue on. Needless to say my problems continue to arise. I am using Custom Objects as the Data Sources for by controls and often entire forms. I find it frustrating to separate business logic and the graphical interface. (That could be a new question entirely.) So for a lot of objects I generate a form which has the DataBindingSource for the object. When I create each from using the New Constructor I explicitly pass to it the object to which it should be bound, and then set this passed object as the DataSource of the BindingSource. (That's a mouthful!) Now the Master object (say, bound to each form) often contains a List of objects which I like to have displayed in a DataGridView. I (sometimes) create and modify these child objects in their own form (again creating a databind the same way as the master form) but when I add them to the List in the master object the DataGridView won't update with the new items. So my question really has a few layers: How can I easily/efficiently/correctly update this DataGridView with the list of Detail objects when I add them to the list of the Master object. Is this approach to DataBinding good/viable. What's the best way to separate business logic from graphical interface. Thanks for the help!

The structure is more or less as follows: Master table: MasterID, DetailID, date, ... masterID1, detailID1, 2010/5/1, .... masterID2, detailID1, 2008/6/14, ... masterID3, detailID1, 2009/5/25, ... masterID4, detailID2, 2008/7/24, ... masterID5, detailID2, 2010/4/1, ... masterID6, detailID4, 2008/9/16, ... Details table: DetailID, ... detailID1, ... detailID2, ... detailID3, ... detailID4, ... I need to get all the records from the details table plus the LAST record from the master table (last by the date in the master table). Like this: detailID1, masterID1, 2010/5/1, .... detailID2, masterID5, 2010/4/1, ... detailID3, null, null, ... detailID4, masterID6, 2008/9/16, ... I have no idea how to do this. Can anybody help me?   • Typical Search, Result and Detail Workflow Staying Within an Android Tab

    So, I've been banging my head looking for a good solution for a few days and am stuck. I have a search screen (Activity) in a tab, and after the user enters a value and clicks "search" I would like the results to come back in that same tab, and then if an item from the results is selected, to show more detailed results, in that same tab. I have it all working now in separate activities, and even the first step working in a tab, but as soon as I call the activity to process he search results... i.e. startActivity(i); for the results Activity, the results displayed are not in the tab! I am having a very difficult time getting this flow to work all under a tab. Any thoughts on how to make this happen? I keep hearing that Android views should be used instead of activities, but am I then to assume that all the logic I have right now for 3 activity needs to go inside 1 activity and then I need to handle setting the content and state for each of these cases? Plus, won't the history stack not work as pressing the back button will take the user out of the application, instead of taking them from say the search result to the search screen, or the details to the search results, etc. This seems like a mess. Can anyone show a more complex example of tabs or how one might have a simple search, result and detail workflow staying in a tab? I have seen a few questions on this concept of keeping activities "within a tab", but no good resolution. Please help.

  • .NET unit test runner outputting FaultException.Detail

    Hello, I am running some unit tests on a WCF service. The service is configured to include exception details in the fault response (with the following in my service configuration file). <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> If a test causes an unhandled exception on the server the fault is received by the client with a fully populated server stack trace. I can see this by calling the exception's ToString() method. The problem is that this doesn't seem to be output by any of the test runners that I have tried (xUnit, Gallio, MSTest). They appear to just output the Message and the StackTrace properties of the exception. To illustrate what I mean, the following unit test run by MSTest would output three sections: Error Message Error Stack Trace Standard Console Output (contains the information I would like, e.g. "Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail, likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is: ..." try { service.CallMethodWhichCausesException(); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine(ex); // this outputs the information I would like throw; } Having this information will make the initial phase of testing and deployment a lot less painful. I know I can just wrap each unit test in a generic exception handler and write the exception to the console and rethrow (as above) within all my unit tests but that seems a very long-winded way of achieving this (and would look pretty awful). Does anyone know if there's any way to get this information included for free whenever an unhandled exception occurs? Is there a setting that I am missing? Is my service configuration lacking in proper fault handling? Perhaps I could write some kind of plug-in / adapter for some unit testing framework? Perhaps theres a different unit testing framework which I should be using instead! My actual set-up is xUnit unit tests executed via Gallio for the development environment, but I do have a separate suite of "smoke tests" written which I would like to be able to have our engineers run via the xUnit GUI test runner (or Gallio or whatever) to simplify the final deployment.   • How to make my WPF application as FAST as Outlook

    The commons WPF applications take some time for loading medium complex views, once the view is loaded it works fine. For example in a Master - Detail view, if the Detail view is very complex and use different DataTemplates take some seconds (2-3 seconds) for load the view. When i open the Outlook application, for instance, it renders complex views and it is relative much more fast. Is there a way for increase the performance of my WPF application? Maybe a way for not loading the template's data every time that change the "master" item, and load it only one time in the app time live? i will appreciate any suggestion.
