  • Is JPA + EJB to much slow (or heavy) for over Internet transactions?

    - by Xavier Callejas
Hi, I am developing a stand-alone java client application that connects to a Glassfish v3 application for JPA/EJB facade style transactions. In other words, my client application do not connect directly to the database to CRUD, but it transfers JPA objets using EJB stateless sessions. I have scenarios where this client application will be used in an external network connected with a VPN over Internet with a client connection of 512kbp/DSL, and a simple query takes so much time, I'm seeing the traffic graph and when I merge a entity in the client application I see megabytes of traffic (I couldn't believe how a purchase order entity could weight more than 1 mb). I have LAZY fetch in almost every many-to-many relationship, but I have a lot of many-to-one relationships between entities (but this is the great advantage of JPA!). Could I do something to accelerate the the speed of transactions between JPA/EJB server and the remote java client? Thank you in advance.

  • is it right to call ejb bean from thread by ThreadPoolExecutor?

    - by kislo_metal
I trying to call some ejb bean method from tread. and getting error : (as is glassfish v3) Log Level SEVERE Logger javax.enterprise.system.std.com.sun.enterprise.v3.services.impl Name-Value Pairs {_ThreadName=Thread-1, _ThreadID=42} Record Number 928 Message ID java.lang.NullPointerException at ua.co.rufous.server.broker.TempLicService.run(TempLicService.java Complete Message 35) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.runTask(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:886) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:908) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:637) here is tread public class TempLicService implements Runnable { String hash; //it`s Stateful bean @EJB private LicActivatorLocal lActivator; public TempLicService(String hash) { this.hash= hash; } @Override public void run() { lActivator.proccessActivation(hash); } } my ThreadPoolExecutor public class RequestThreadPoolExecutor extends ThreadPoolExecutor { private boolean isPaused; private ReentrantLock pauseLock = new ReentrantLock(); private Condition unpaused = pauseLock.newCondition(); private static RequestThreadPoolExecutor threadPool; private RequestThreadPoolExecutor() { super(1, Integer.MAX_VALUE, 10, TimeUnit.SECONDS, new LinkedBlockingQueue<Runnable>()); System.out.println("RequestThreadPoolExecutor created"); } public static RequestThreadPoolExecutor getInstance() { if (threadPool == null) threadPool = new RequestThreadPoolExecutor(); return threadPool; } public void runService(Runnable task) { threadPool.execute(task); } protected void beforeExecute(Thread t, Runnable r) { super.beforeExecute(t, r); pauseLock.lock(); try { while (isPaused) unpaused.await(); } catch (InterruptedException ie) { t.interrupt(); } finally { pauseLock.unlock(); } } public void pause() { pauseLock.lock(); try { isPaused = true; } finally { pauseLock.unlock(); } } public void resume() { pauseLock.lock(); try { isPaused = false; unpaused.signalAll(); } finally { pauseLock.unlock(); } } public void shutDown() { threadPool.shutdown(); } //<<<<<< creating thread here public void runByHash(String hash) { Runnable service = new TempLicService(hash); threadPool.runService(service); } } and method where i call it (it is gwt servlet, but there is no proble to call thread that not contain ejb) : @Override public Boolean submitHash(String hash) { System.out.println("submiting hash"); try { if (tBoxService.getTempLicStatus(hash) == 1) { //<<< here is the call RequestThreadPoolExecutor.getInstance().runByHash(hash); return true; } } catch (NoResultException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return false; } I need to organize some pool of submitting hash to server (calls of LicActivator bean), is ThreadPoolExecutor design good idea and why it is not working in my case? (as I know we can`t create thread inside bean, but could we call bean from different threads? ). If No, what is the bast practice for organize such request pool? Thanks. << Answer: I am using DI (EJB 3.1) soo i do not need any look up here. (application packed in ear and both modules in it (web module and ejb), it works perfect for me). But I can use it only in managed classes. So.. 2.Can I use manual look up in Tread ? Could I use Bean that extends ThreadPoolExecutor and calling another bean that implements Runnable ? Or it is not allowed ?

  • ejb testing issues with netbeans and openejb

    - by SibzTer
I have created a netbeans 6.7 EnterpriseApplication project with ejb and war modules with a test stateless session ejb with a simple sayHello() method. I also added the openEjb library in order to unit test the ejb. Everything runs fine except that I keep getting the following error: Testsuite: com.myapp.test.NewEmptyJUnitTest Apache OpenEJB 3.1.1 build: 20090530-06:18 http://openejb.apache.org/ INFO - openejb.home = C:\Users\me\Documents\NetBeansProjects\TestEnterpriseApp\TestEnterpriseApp-ejb INFO - openejb.base = C:\Users\me\Documents\NetBeansProjects\TestEnterpriseApp\TestEnterpriseApp-ejb INFO - Configuring Service(id=Default Security Service, type=SecurityService, provider-id=Default Security Service) INFO - Configuring Service(id=Default Transaction Manager, type=TransactionManager, provider-id=Default Transaction Manager) INFO - Found ClientModule in classpath: C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.7.1\java2\ant\lib\ant.jar INFO - Found ClientModule in classpath: C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.7.1\java2\ant\lib\ant-launcher.jar INFO - Found EjbModule in classpath: C:\Users\me\Documents\NetBeansProjects\TestEnterpriseApp\TestEnterpriseApp-ejb\build\jar INFO - Found ClientModule in classpath: C:\Users\me\Documents\NetBeansProjects\TestEnterpriseApp\lib\OpenEJB\xml-resolver-1.2.jar INFO - Found ClientModule in classpath: C:\Users\me\Documents\Downloads\glassfish\lib\webservices-tools.jar INFO - Beginning load: C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.7.1\java2\ant\lib\ant.jar INFO - Beginning load: C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.7.1\java2\ant\lib\ant-launcher.jar INFO - Beginning load: C:\Users\me\Documents\NetBeansProjects\TestEnterpriseApp\TestEnterpriseApp-ejb\build\jar INFO - Beginning load: C:\Users\me\Documents\NetBeansProjects\TestEnterpriseApp\lib\OpenEJB\xml-resolver-1.2.jar INFO - Beginning load: C:\Users\me\Documents\Downloads\glassfish\lib\webservices-tools.jar INFO - Configuring enterprise application: classpath.ear WARN - No application-client.xml found assuming annotations present: classpath.ear, module: ant.jar WARN - No application-client.xml found assuming annotations present: classpath.ear, module: ant-launcher.jar WARN - No application-client.xml found assuming annotations present: classpath.ear, module: xml-resolver-1.2.jar WARN - No application-client.xml found assuming annotations present: classpath.ear, module: webservices-tools.jar java.lang.Exception: Could not load 1/0/com/sun/codemodel/CodeWriter.class at org.apache.xbean.finder.ClassFinder.readClassDef(ClassFinder.java:730) .... • @WebServices as @Stateless session bean in ejb jar

    - by kislo_metal
Hi! Scenario: Creating some web service as @Stateless bean, package it as ejb jar. Result - can`t access to wsdl file. Goal: I want to use @WebServices as @Stateless session using ejb jar packaging with accessible wsdl file form web. Web service: @Stateless @WebService(serviceName = "ws.isp.SecurityService", wsdlLocation = "META-INF/wsdl/SecurityService.wsdl") public class SecurityService{ @EJB private Kerberos factory; @EJB private UsersServiceBean uService; public SecurityService() { } @WebMethod @WebResult(name = "SimpleResponse") public SimpleResponse LogOut( @WebParam(name = "sessionUUID", targetNamespace = "https://secure.co.ua/ws/") String sessionUUID ) { SimpleResponse resp = new SimpleResponse(); try{ factory.removeSession(sessionUUID); resp.setError(WSErrorCodes.SUCCESS); }catch (Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); resp.setError(WSErrorCodes.UNRELOSVED_ERROR); } return resp; } @WebMethod public MySession logIn( @WebParam(name = "username", targetNamespace = "https://secure.co.ua/ws/") String username, @WebParam(name = "password", targetNamespace = "https://secure.co.ua/ws/") String password){ MySession result = new MySession(); try { UserSession us = factory.creatSession(uService.getUser(username, password).getId()); result.setSessionID(us.getSessionUUID().toString()); result.setError(WSErrorCodes.SUCCESS); } catch (NullPointerException e){ e.printStackTrace(); result.setError(WSErrorCodes.UNRELOSVED_USER); } catch (Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); result.setError(WSErrorCodes.UNRELOSVED_ERROR); } return result; } } In this case I getting Invalid wsdl request http://192.168.44.48:8181/ws.isp.SecurityService/SecurityService when I try to access to wsdl and if do not use description of wsdlLocation I getting blank page. Web service as it self working good. Q1: what is the rule of describing wsdl file location for web services as stateless in ejb jar. Q2: is it possible to generate wsdl file during maven packaging ? Q3: how to generate wsdl file for web service where we have such annotation as @Stateless and @EJB (currently I can generate it only by commenting those annotations) environment: mave 2, ejb 3.1, glassfish v3, jax-ws 2.x Thank you!

  • Oracle Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) Developer Certification

    - by user33716
I would like to gain the "Oracle Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) Developer" certification. According to this page I have to take a number of classes each of which costs up to a couple of thousand GB£. Is this really the only way to obtain the certification? Can I not just buy a certification guide book from amazon and just sit the requisite tests? At the moment I have no Java EE experience and I'm finding it impossible to get interviews for the jobs I'm interested in. I'm hoping this will at least help me get my foot through the door.

  • Handling EJB/JPA exceptions in a “beautiful” way

    - by Rodrigues, Raphael
In order to handle JPA exceptions, there are some ways already detailed in lots of blogs. Here, I intend to show one of them, which I consider kind of “beauty”. My use case has a unique constraint, when the User try to create a duplicate value in database. The JPA throws a java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException, and I have to catch it and replace the message. In fact, ADF Business Components framework already has a beautiful solution for this very well documented here . However, for EJB/JPA there's no similar approach. In my case, what I had to do was: 1. Create a custom Error Handler Class in DataBindings file; a. Here is how you accomplish it. 2. Override the reportException method and check if the type of exception exists on property file a. If yes, I change the message and rethrows the exception b. If not, go on the execution The main goal of this approach is whether a new or unhandled Exception was raised, the job is, only create a single entry in bundle property file. Here are pictures step by step: 1. CustomExceptionHandler.java 2. Databindings.cpx 3. Bundle file 4. jspx: 5. Stacktrace: Give your opinion, what did you think about that?

  • How do I fix this JBoss EJB client authentication issue?

    - by Rich
I have an EJB deployed under JBoss (we're moving a project to it from Weblogic), I can get an EJBHome reference to the EJB via a JNDI lookup. The login-config.xml is set to use the module org.jboss.security.auth.spi.BaseCertLoginModule. When my client code tries to invoke the create method via reflection, calling invoke, I get an InvocationException which wraps an AccessException, which wraps a final exception of javax.security.auth.login.FailedLoginException: Password Incorrect/Password Required at org.jboss.security.auth.spi.UsernamePasswordLoginModule.login(UsernamePasswordLoginModule.java:213).... Am I missing some client code to use BaseCertLoginModule instead of UsernamePasswordLoginModule? Thanks in advance, any suggestions appreciated, apologies for not posting the entire stacktrace but it's on a secured network without internet access.

  • How do you preform an EJB lookup with application security?

    - by Hillgod
I'm trying to lookup an EJB from a standalone java application. I'm thinking in terms of WebSphere Application Server 6.1, but if someone knows how to do this for another application server, it may get me in the right direction. What I'm currently doing: initialContext= new InitialContext(env); initialContext.lookup(""); lc = new LoginContext("WSLogin", new WSCallbackHandlerImpl("wasadmin", "defaultWIMFileBasedRealm", "wasadmin")); lc.login(); subject = lc.getSubject(); WSSubject.setRunAsSubject(subject); This isn't working... my subject is still "/UNAUTHENTICATED", and I get an error when I try to lookup the EJB. I'm also specifying the following parameters to the VM when executing the application: -Dcom.ibm.CORBA.ConfigURL="C:\was\profiles\AppSrv01\properties\sas.client.props" -Djava.security.auth.login.config="C:\was\profiles\AppSrv01\properties\wsjaas_client.conf"

  • Call DB Stored Procedure using @NamedStoredProcedureQuery Injection

    - by anwilson
Oracle Database Stored Procedure can be called from EJB business layer to perform complex DB specific operations. This approach will avoid overhead from frequent network hits which could impact end-user result. DB Stored Procedure can be invoked from EJB Session Bean business logic using org.eclipse.persistence.queries.StoredProcedureCall API. Using this approach requires more coding to handle the Session and Arguments of the Stored Procedure, thereby increasing effort on maintenance. EJB 3.0 introduces @NamedStoredProcedureQuery Injection to call Database Stored Procedure as NamedQueries. This blog will take you through the steps to call Oracle Database Stored Procedure using @NamedStoredProcedureQuery.EMP_SAL_INCREMENT procedure available in HR schema will be used in this sample.Create Entity from EMPLOYEES table.Add @NamedStoredProcedureQuery above @NamedQueries to Employees.java with definition as given below - @NamedStoredProcedureQuery(name="Employees.increaseEmpSal", procedureName = "EMP_SAL_INCREMENT", resultClass=void.class, resultSetMapping = "", returnsResultSet = false, parameters = { @StoredProcedureParameter(name = "EMP_ID", queryParameter = "EMPID"), @StoredProcedureParameter(name = "SAL_INCR", queryParameter = "SALINCR")} ) Observe how Stored Procedure's arguments are handled easily in  @NamedStoredProcedureQuery using @StoredProcedureParameter.Expose Entity Bean by creating a Session Facade.Business method need to be added to Session Bean to access the Stored Procedure exposed as NamedQuery. public void salaryRaise(Long empId, Long salIncrease) throws Exception { try{ Query query = em.createNamedQuery("Employees.increaseEmpSal"); query.setParameter("EMPID", empId); query.setParameter("SALINCR", salIncrease); query.executeUpdate(); } catch(Exception ex){ throw ex; } } Expose business method through Session Bean Remote Interface. void salaryRaise(Long empId, Long salIncrease) throws Exception; Session Bean Client is required to invoke the method exposed through remote interface.Call exposed method in Session Bean Client main method. final Context context = getInitialContext(); SessionEJB sessionEJB = (SessionEJB)context.lookup("Your-JNDI-lookup"); sessionEJB.salaryRaise(new Long(200), new Long(1000)); Deploy Session BeanRun Session Bean Client.Salary of Employee with Id 200 will be increased by 1000.

  • How to create a simple adf dashboard application with EJB 3.0

    - by Rodrigues, Raphael
In this month's Oracle Magazine, Frank Nimphius wrote a very good article about an Oracle ADF Faces dashboard application to support persistent user personalization. You can read this entire article clicking here. The idea in this article is to extend the dashboard application. My idea here is to create a similar dashboard application, but instead ADF BC model layer, I'm intending to use EJB3.0. There are just a one small trick here and I'll show you. I'm using the HR usual oracle schema. The steps are: 1. Create a ADF Fusion Application with EJB as a layer model 2. Generate the entities from table (I'm using Department and Employees only) 3. Create a new Session Bean. I called it: HRSessionEJB 4. Create a new method like that: public List getAllDepartmentsHavingEmployees(){ JpaEntityManager jpaEntityManager = (JpaEntityManager)em.getDelegate(); Query query = jpaEntityManager.createNamedQuery("Departments.allDepartmentsHavingEmployees"); JavaBeanResult.setQueryResultClass(query, AggregatedDepartment.class); return query.getResultList(); } 5. In the Departments entity, create a new native query annotation: @Entity @NamedQueries( { @NamedQuery(name = "Departments.findAll", query = "select o from Departments o") }) @NamedNativeQueries({ @NamedNativeQuery(name="Departments.allDepartmentsHavingEmployees", query = "select e.department_id, d.department_name , sum(e.salary), avg(e.salary) , max(e.salary), min(e.salary) from departments d , employees e where d.department_id = e.department_id group by e.department_id, d.department_name")}) public class Departments implements Serializable {...} 6. Create a new POJO called AggregatedDepartment: package oramag.sample.dashboard.model; import java.io.Serializable; import java.math.BigDecimal; public class AggregatedDepartment implements Serializable{ @SuppressWarnings("compatibility:5167698678781240729") private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private BigDecimal departmentId; private String departmentName; private BigDecimal sum; private BigDecimal avg; private BigDecimal max; private BigDecimal min; public AggregatedDepartment() { super(); } public AggregatedDepartment(BigDecimal departmentId, String departmentName, BigDecimal sum, BigDecimal avg, BigDecimal max, BigDecimal min) { super(); this.departmentId = departmentId; this.departmentName = departmentName; this.sum = sum; this.avg = avg; this.max = max; this.min = min; } public void setDepartmentId(BigDecimal departmentId) { this.departmentId = departmentId; } public BigDecimal getDepartmentId() { return departmentId; } public void setDepartmentName(String departmentName) { this.departmentName = departmentName; } public String getDepartmentName() { return departmentName; } public void setSum(BigDecimal sum) { this.sum = sum; } public BigDecimal getSum() { return sum; } public void setAvg(BigDecimal avg) { this.avg = avg; } public BigDecimal getAvg() { return avg; } public void setMax(BigDecimal max) { this.max = max; } public BigDecimal getMax() { return max; } public void setMin(BigDecimal min) { this.min = min; } public BigDecimal getMin() { return min; } } 7. Create the util java class called JavaBeanResult. The function of this class is to configure a native SQL query to return POJOs in a single line of code using the utility class. • Java singleton VO class implementing serializable, having default values using getter methods

    - by user309281
Hi All I have a J2SE application having user threads running in a separate JVM outside JBOSS server. During startup, J2SE invokes a EJB inside jboss, by passing a new object(singleton) of simple JAVA VO class having getter/setter methods. {The VO class is a singleton and implements serialiable(as mandated by EJB)}. EJB receives the object, reads all db configuration and uses the setter methods of new object to set all the values. It then returns back this updated object back to J2SE in the same remote call. After J2SE receives the object(singleton/serializable), if i invoke getter methods, I could see only default values set during object creation before EJB call, and not the values set by the EJB. Kindly throw some light on, why the received object from EJB does not see any updated values and how to rectify this. I believe it got to do with object initialization during deserialization. And i tried overriding readResolve() in the VO class, but of no help. With Regards, Krishna

  • Implement Tree/Details With Taskflow Regions Using EJB

    - by Deepak Siddappa
This article describes on Display Tree/Details using taskflow regions.Use Case DescriptionLet us take scenario where we need to display Tree/Details, left region contains category hierarchy with items listed in a tree structure (ex:- Region-Countries-Locations-Departments in tree format) and right region contains the Employees list.In detail, Here User may drills down through categories using a tree until Employees are listed. Clicking the tree node name displays Employee list in the adjacent pane related to particular tree node. Implementation StepsThe script for creating the tables and inserting the data required for this application CreateSchema.sql Lets create a Java EE Web Application with Entities based on Regions, Countries, Locations, Departments and Employees table. Create a Stateless Session Bean and data control for the Stateless Session Bean. Add the below code to the session bean and expose the method in local/remote interface and generate a data control for that.Note:- Here in the below code "em" is a EntityManager. public List<Employees> empFilteredByTreeNode(String treeNodeType, String paramValue) { String queryString = null; try { if (treeNodeType == "null") { queryString = "select * from Employees emp ORDER BY emp.employee_id ASC"; } else if (Pattern.matches("[a-zA-Z]+[_]+[a-zA-Z]+[_]+[[0-9]+]+", treeNodeType)) { queryString = "select * from employees emp INNER JOIN departments dept\n" + "ON emp.department_id = dept.department_id JOIN locations loc\n" + "ON dept.location_id = loc.location_id JOIN countries cont\n" + "ON loc.country_id = cont.country_id JOIN regions reg\n" + "ON cont.region_id = reg.region_id and reg.region_name = '" + paramValue + "' ORDER BY emp.employee_id ASC"; } else if (treeNodeType.contains("regionsFindAll_bc_countriesList_1")) { queryString = "select * from employees emp INNER JOIN departments dept \n" + "ON emp.department_id = dept.department_id JOIN locations loc \n" + "ON dept.location_id = loc.location_id JOIN countries cont \n" + "ON loc.country_id = cont.country_id and cont.country_name = '" + paramValue + "' ORDER BY emp.employee_id ASC"; } else if (treeNodeType.contains("regionsFindAll_bc_locationsList_1")) { queryString = "select * from employees emp INNER JOIN departments dept ON emp.department_id = dept.department_id JOIN locations loc ON dept.location_id = loc.location_id and loc.city = '" + paramValue + "' ORDER BY emp.employee_id ASC"; } else if (treeNodeType.trim().contains("regionsFindAll_bc_departmentsList_1")) { queryString = "select * from Employees emp INNER JOIN Departments dept ON emp.DEPARTMENT_ID = dept.DEPARTMENT_ID and dept.DEPARTMENT_NAME = '" + paramValue + "'"; } } catch (NullPointerException e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); } return em.createNativeQuery(queryString, Employees.class).getResultList(); } In the ViewController project, create two ADF taskflow with page Fragments and name them as FirstTaskflow and SecondTaskflow respectively. Open FirstTaskflow, from component palette drop view(Page Fragment) name it as TreeList.jsff. Open SeconfTaskflow, from component palette drop view(Page Fragment) name it as EmpList.jsff and create two paramters in its overview parameters tab as shown in below image. Open TreeList.jsff , from data control palette drop regionsFindAll->Tree as ADF Tree. • How should I implement Transaction database EJB 3.0

    - by JamesBoyZ
    In the CustomerTransactions entity, I have the following field to record what the customer bought: @ManyToMany private List<Item> listOfItemsBought; When I think more about this field, there's a chance it may not work because merchants are allowed to change item's information (e.g. price, discount, etc...). Hence, this field will not be able to record what the customer actually bought when the transaction occurred. At the moment, I can only think of 2 ways to make it work. I will record the transaction details into a String field. I feel that this way would be messy if I need to extract some information about the transaction later on. Whenever the merchant changes an item's information, I will not update directly to that item's fields. Instead, I will create another new item with all the new information and keep the old item untouched. I feel that this way is better because I can easily extract information about the transaction later on. However, the bad side is that my Item table may contain a lot of rows. I'd be very grateful if someone could give me an advice on how I should tackle this problem. UPDATE: I'd like to add more information about the current design. public class Customer implements Serializable { @OneToMany private List<CustomerTransactions> listOfTransactions; } public class CustomerTransactions implements Serializable { @ManyToMany private List<Item> listOfItemsBought; } public class Merchant implements Serializable { @OneToMany private List<Item> listOfSellingItems; }

  • "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.ejb.EJBObject" when running JAR

    - by Bernhard V
Hi, I'm getting a "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.ejb.EJBObject" error when I'm running my application as a JAR file. When running it in Eclipse everything is working fine. The application properly access the main class and the main method. But when it tries to load the application context it cannot resolve a reference to an EJB bean. I then get the following error: Error creating bean with name 'bc' defined in class path resource [blabla.xml]: Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/ejb/EJBObject at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.BeanDefinitionValueResolver .resolveReference(BeanDefinitionValueResolver.java:275) ... Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.ejb.EJBObject I've included all runtime-scoped dependencies with Maven in the JAR file. Do you know any further information regarding this error?

  • Ejb lookup failing on WAS7.0 with NamingException

    - by Ayush
Hi, I have an application developed on RAD using WAS 6.0. I migrated the code to WID 7.0. After making some changes in the EJB modules(Had to remove the bnd.xmi file from each ejb module to deploy the application on Application Server)the application is running fine, but the EJB modules give the following error: NamingException has Occured While Getting Local Home javax.naming.NameNotFoundException:nullName ejb/com/igcc not found in context "local:". I am not able to figure out what changes do it need to make to run the application on WID. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Ayush

  • Using EJB in Wicket WebPage

    - by Errandir
When I'm using @EJB annotation to access stateless EJB through remote interface in common HttpServlet, it works OK: public class ListMsgs extends HttpServlet { @EJB private Msgs msgsRI; ... protected void processRequest(...) ... { List msgs = msgsRI.getAll(); ... } ... } But when I'm trying the same thing in Wicket WebPage, I'm getting null in return for bean: public class ListM extends WebPage { @EJB private Msgs msgsRI; ... public ListM() { List msgs = msgsRI.getAll(); // NullPointerException ... } ... } The several lines of this “Unexpected RuntimeException” are: WicketMessage: Can't instantiate page using constructor public testapp.web.ListM() Root cause: java.lang.NullPointerException at testapp.web.ListM.<init>(ListM.java:22) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Constructor.java:513) at org.apache.wicket.session.DefaultPageFactory.createPage(DefaultPageFactory.java:192) at org.apache.wicket.session.DefaultPageFactory.newPage(DefaultPageFactory.java:57) at org.apache.wicket.request.target.component.BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.newPage(BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.java:298) at org.apache.wicket.request.target.component.BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.getPage(BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.java:320) at org.apache.wicket.request.target.component.BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.processEvents(BookmarkablePageRequestTarget.java:234) at org.apache.wicket.request.AbstractRequestCycleProcessor.processEvents(AbstractRequestCycleProcessor.java:92) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.processEventsAndRespond(RequestCycle.java:1250) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.step(RequestCycle.java:1329) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.steps(RequestCycle.java:1428) at org.apache.wicket.RequestCycle.request(RequestCycle.java:545) at org.apache.wicket.protocol.http.WicketFilter.doGet(WicketFilter.java:479) at org.apache.wicket.protocol.http.WicketServlet.doGet(WicketServlet.java:138) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:734) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:847) .... There are ejb-module with bean and web-module with servlet and wicket web page deployed to GlassFish v2.1.1 server (if it makes any sense). What should I do to use my enterprise bean through remote interface in wicket webpage?

  • Annotations (@EJB, @Resource, ...) within a RESTful Service

    - by Dominik
Hi! I'm trying to inject a EJB within my RESTful Service (RESTEasy) via Annotations. public class MyServelet implements MyServeletInterface { ... @EJB MyBean mybean; ... } Unfortunately there is no compilation or AS error, the variable "mybean" is just null and I get a NullPointerException when I try to use it. What I'm doing wrong? Here are some side-informations about my architecture: JBoss 4.2.2.GA Java version: 1.5.0_17 local MDB-Project remote EJB-Project WAR Project with the RESTful Service which uses the remote EJB and sends messages to the local MDB-Project Thanks in advance! br Dominik p.s: everything is working fine when I use normal context lookup.
