  • OS X is based on the codex Gigas the devils bible: Android OS n 4.4 Dio Ra Egyptian deity why is that?

    - by user215250
GUESS WHO? The Internet and all computers are based on a mathematical number system that seems to be 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10. The HTTP is 888P and UTF-8 and Windows 8 and 8 gigas of RAM(88) on a 64biTOS X-10 or Aten(satan) why is it allowed to be so evil and who all knows about it? Is this activity illegal and should I sew these companies for being involved in satanic practices? iC3 iC3 iC3 I do see XP (X) Chi and (P) Rho a monogram and symbol for Christ, consisting of the superimposed Greek letters. The X is ten, The X code, OS X(O Satan) and codex The Gigas the Devil bible and the P is Payne, The House of Payne in which God dwells. Windows 8, Google Android and Apples OS X are the foundation on which we operarte on the Internet and our Mobiles devices. What is it that these 3 companies have chosen to base their OS’s on such evil? Windows 8 is windows hate H8, HH and H8. Said to be the Devil. Google’s (UGLE) M the Masonic M behind Android OS.in 4.4 is Dio (R) DNA O Sin and 44 is the Devils name in Twain’s The Mysterious Stranger. Apple’s evil (i) OS X (ou-es-ten) O Satan them all beat (B8) considering Apple put their first product on the market for $666.66. The Holy Grail of computers they say. • Images with unknown content: Dangerous for a browser?

    - by chris_l
Let's say I allow users to link to any images they like. The link would be checked for syntactical correctness, escaping etc., and then inserted in an <img src="..."/> tag. Are there any known security vulnerabilities, e.g. by someone linking to "evil.example.com/evil.jpg", and evil.jpg contains some code that will be executed due to a browser bug or something like that? (Let's ignore CSRF attacks - it must suffice that I will only allow URLs with typical image file suffixes.)

  • Any valid use of goto in PHP?

    - by nikic
I know, there are other questions about the goto statement introduced in PHP 5.3. But I couldn't find any decent answer in there, all were of the type "last resort", "xkcd", "evil", "bad", "EVIL!!!". But no valid example. Only statements that there aren't any uses. Or statements that there are some rare use cases (again, without examples). So, the question is: "Which are the valid uses of goto in PHP". Answers for "Is goto evil" are not welcome and will get downvoted. Thanks :) Or does somebody have a link to an RFC where the decision is explained - I couldn't find one.

  • When browsing a specific network share remotely, Windows Explorer continuously jumps back to the parent folder

    - by Evil Pigeon
I am accessing a specific network path on another domain. It looks something like this: \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\Inetpub\Testing\Website\ In under 30 seconds, I am automatically jumped back to \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\Inetpub\Testing\ In less time it then jumps back to \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\Inetpub\ Then it jumps back to c$ for its final resting place. \\CoputerName.OtherDomain.in\c$\ At first I thought this had to with a faulty keyboard, but this behaviour also occurs when the window does not have focus. It's as if windows thinks that the folder no longer exists (as in someone else has deleted or moved it). This behaviour is not specific to my PC either, it occurs from other machines in the office. Edit: It looks like this issue only occurs from other Windows 7 machines. There are no issues accessing the path from XP.

  • Windows 7 slowing down during hard drive activity

    - by Iniquities of evil men
Sometimes when normally using my PC, it will (seemingly) randomly slow down, and maybe sometimes even freeze for several seconds. During this slow down period, it looks like a (I don't know which drive it is) hard drive is constantly being written to. During the last slow down, I started Windows's Ressource Monitor and found out that the System process was writing up to 10MB/s to a drive (I suspect it's the system drive, C:\, but I don't know for sure). I'm not doing anything unusual (at least, I don't think I am), and most of the time, it will work normally, but, as I said, it just randomly slows down for some times. Any ideas on what might be causing this and how I can prevent this from happening again? (I have a triple-core processor and 4GB of RAM. My system drive is a WD Caviar Black 500GB, my secondary, 'data' drive is a Samsung drive, which I don't know the model number of, but I can look it up. I can also post my full PC specs if needed.)

  • 555 Footstool Turns Tech into Mad Scientist Decor

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
If you just can’t find the appropriate footstool for your laboratory, this laser-cut footstool styled to look like the ubiquitous 555 Timer should fit the bill. At Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories they were in search for the perfect footstool. Never ones to do something halfway they set out to build a footstool shaped like the famous integrated circuit design the 555 Timer. The project involved computer design, CNC routers, laser engraving, lots of plywood and glue, and paint. Hit up the link below to see pictures of the entire build process. 555 Footstool [Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories] How To Encrypt Your Cloud-Based Drive with BoxcryptorHTG Explains: Photography with Film-Based CamerasHow to Clean Your Dirty Smartphone (Without Breaking Something)

  • Blogging from 37,000ft

    - by Dave Ballantyne
Im currently on my way to Sql Rally nordic and looking forward to a few days of full on SQL geekery and “Unleashing my inner Viking”.  I shall be speaking on Wednesday afternoon on one of my favourite subjects “Cursors are Evil”.  Ok,  so lets put it into perspective, “Evil” is a bit dramatic , but “Often use inappropriately and can cause serious performance bottlenecks” didn't have quite the same ring If you are not going to be at SQL Rally,  im going to be repeating it at the Leeds and Manchester user groups on the 23rd and 24th of November respectively.  Presenting with me on these nights will be James Boother, so make it along to those if you can.  I look forward to seeing you at one of these events.

  • Why does everyone dislike PHP? [closed]

    - by SomeKittens
I'm primarily a Java/Python programmer, but I just picked up an entry-level job doing web development. I had to learn PHP, and several of my CS friends told me that it would stunt my coding ability/be terrible to program in/murder me in the middle of the night. So far, there have been annoying moments with the language (one particular thing that bugs me is the syntax for calling functions...), but nothing living up to the statements of my friends. I still haven't learned very much about the language. Is their hate justified? Why or why not? A few quotes I've seen about PHP: Haskell is faster than C++, more concise than Perl, more regular than Python, more flexible than Ruby, more typeful than C#, more robust than Java, and has absolutely nothing in common with PHP. Audrey Tang "PHP is a minor evil perpetrated and created by incompetent amateurs, whereas Perl is a great and insidious evil, perpetrated by skilled but perverted professionals." Jon Ribbens. • When to use event.initMouseEvent for simulating mouse clicks?

    - by Protector one
I wonder if there are benign use-cases for simulating mouse clicks using event.initMouseEvent. I found that it is used for creating pop-under ads in the following way: var e = document.createEvent('MouseEvents'); e.initMouseEvent('click', true, true, window, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, true, false, false, true, 0, null); a.dispatchEvent(e); This code simulates a click on the opening browser window, to force the newly opened window beneath it. Evil. I'm thinking of simply preventing all simulated clicks in my own browser via a browser extension, but I wonder if I might break useful websites and behavior in the process. Therefore I wonder what situations justify simulating mouse clicks, and if there are big sites that use it in non-evil ways.

  • Can rails test speed be increased?

    - by Sam
Hi all, I'm a recent convert to TDD but as my codebase grows in size and complexity, I find myself waiting longer and longer periods for the framework to load every time I want to run a test. I am aware of rspec's spec_server but I'm using Test::Unit with shoulda. I tried Snailgun (http://github.com/candlerb/snailgun) but noticed very little increased in speed. I have also tried spork-testunit (http://github.com/timcharper/spork-testunit) but it's not fully compatible with my existing tests. The delay in running tests is a definite pain point and is putting me of TDD (at least with rails). Is anyone aware of any other options? thanks Sam

  • How to use gems not in a Gemfile when working with bundler?

    - by arikfr
When using bundler with a project in general and Rails specifically, you have access only to gems defined in your Gemfile. While this makes sense, it can be limiting. Mostly I find it limiting when I want to use a certain RSpec formatter that the rest of the team doesn't use. Unless it's in the Gemfile, it isn't accessible. Any way around it or I have to add it to Gemfile? Update: my problem wasn't Bundler but Spork. When running RSpec without Spork I had no problem of using whatever formatter I wanted.

  • When are global variables acceptable?

    - by dsimcha
Everyone here seems to hate global variables, but I see at least one very reasonable use for them: They are great for holding program parameters that are determined at program initialization and not modified afterwords. Do you agree that this is an exception to the "globals are evil" rule? Is there any other exception that you can think of, besides in quick and dirty throwaway code where basically anything goes? If not, why are globals so fundamentally evil that you do not believe that there are any exceptons?

  • How to get select's value in jqGrid when using <select> editoptions on a column

    - by destroyer of evil
I have a couple of columns in jqGrid with edittype="select". How can I read the option value of the value currently selected in a particular row? e.g.: When I provide the following option, how do I get "FE" for FedEx, etc. editoption: { value: “FE:FedEx; IN:InTime; TN:TNT” } getRowData() for the rowId/cellname returns only the text/displayed component of the select. If I set a "change" data event on the column, the underlying fires change events only on mouse clicks, and not keyboard selects (there's numerous references to generic selects and mouse/keyboard issues). Bottomline, when a new value is selected, I need to know the option value at the time of the change, and also prior to posting to the server.

Is there any class, library or some piece of code which will help me to upload files with HTTPWebrequest? Edit 2: I do not want to upload to a WebDAV folder or something like that. I want to simulate a browser, so just like you upload your avatar to a forum or upload a file via form in a web application. Upload to a form which uses a multipart/form-data. Edit: WebClient is not cover my requirements, so I'm looking for a solution with HTTPWebrequest.

  • Ethics and Law of modified LGPL code deployment in a commercial software

    - by dr. evil
First bit of the question: What are the legal requirements of LGPL code during the deployment of a commercial product? Software package should include LGPL licence file Anything else? Shall we add a line to our "software agreement text" where you need to click next in the installer ? Second bit, Is there any known / accepted ways of distributing the changed library. Since it's LGPL anything derived from it should be licenced under LGPL. But what about after that? Shall we just send a copy to the original author? Shall we put it in our website so people can download? Or ship the source code with the product? Or just put a note that saying "e-mail us for the source code of this library".

  • Why PreAuthenticate is not enabled by default?

    - by dr. evil
As far as I understand WebRequest.PreAuthenticate is almost always good. If I enable it even when there is no credential it won't try to authenticate, if there is a credential it'll. So is there any legitimate reason to set it False? Or is it OK to set it True even when there is no credentials? And since it's quite useful why it's not enabled by default just like many other HTTP features?

  • Context free grammer

    - by Evil
Hello. I have this problem where i need to convert the following CFG to CFG in CNF. S- ABa A- aab B- Ac I know the steps are as follows. 1) Remove epsilon transitions - Done 2) remove unit productions 3) convert to CNF by: 3.1] introduce a new non terminal for each term 3.2] replace terminals in the productions rules with the new nonterminal 3.3] introduce new nonterminals to reduce the length of the right side of each production i'm a bit confused on how i would do that with the problem above. Mostly i am confused on step 2 and unit productions. If i could get some help or perhaps a link to a good tutorial that would be most helpful.

  • Normalizing URI to make it work correctly with MakeRelativeUri

    - by dr. evil
Dim x AS New URI("http://www.example.com/test//test.asp") Dim rel AS New URI("http://www.example.com/xxx/xxx.asp") Console.Writeline(x.MakeRelativeUri(rel).Tostring()) In here output is: ../../xxx/xxx.asp Which looks correct almost all web servers will process the two of the following as same request: http://www.example.com/test//test.asp http://www.example.com/test/test.asp What's the best way to fix this behaviour is there any API to do this, or shall manually create a new URI and remove all // in the path?

  • How to specify a cipher for an SSL connection in .NET?

    - by dr. evil
How can I specify a cipher suite to use in an SSL Connections? I know that Mentalis Seclib got this feature however they don't maintain the project as they say .NET Framework 2.0 introduced those features. However I couldn't find a way to do this in .NET Framework 3.5. To be more specific I want to connect an HTTPS service by using NULL cipher, I would do the same thing with OpenSSL by using the following command: openssl s_client -connect www.example.com:443 -cipher NULL How can I do this in .NET?
