  • Using Groovy Aggregate Functions in ADF BC

    - by Sireesha Pinninti
This article explains how groovy aggregate functions(sum, count, min, max and avg) can be used in ADF Business components and demonstrates how these can be used at entity and view level Let's consider EMP and DEPT tables and an usecase to track number of employees in each department   Entity-Level To use aggregate functions at entity level, we need to have association between entities representing master and child relationship and the destination accessor name is what we are going to use in our groovy Syntax: <Accessor>.count(Groovyexpression) - Note down the destination accessor name(EMP) in the association or AccessorAttribute name in source entity - Add a transient attribute in source entity with persistent property set to false and provide the groovy expression in the syntax provided above - Finally, Add newly added attribute to view object View-Level To use aggregate functions at view level, we need to have a view link between viewobjects representing master and child relationship and the destination accessor name is what we are going to use in our groovy Syntax: <ViewLinkAccessor>.count(Groovyexpression) - Note down the destination accessor name(EmpView) in the view link or viewLinkAccessor name in source view - Add a transient attribute in view object and provide a groovy aggregate function count as a value to it in the syntax provided above Now, If you run application module tester and execute DeptView / ViewLink, you should see employee count in EmpCount field  In similar way, one can use other groovy aggregate functions sum, avg, min and max.

  • Groovy Refactoring in NetBeans

    - by Martin Janicek
Hi guys, during the NetBeans 7.3 feature development, I spend quite a lot of time trying to get some basic Groovy refactoring to the game. I've implemented find usages and rename refactoring for some basic constructs (class types, fields, properties, variables and methods). It's certainly not perfect and it will definitely need a lot fixes and improvements to get it hundred percent reliable, but I need to start somehow :) I would like to ask all of you to test it as much as possible and file a new tickets to the cases where it doesn't work as expected (e.g. some occurrences which should be in usages isn't there etc.) ..it's really important for me because I don't have real Groovy project and thus I can test only some simple cases. I can promise, that with your help we can make it really useful for the next release. Also please be aware that the current version is focusing only on the .groovy files. That means it won't find any usages from the .java files (and the same applies for finding usages from java files - it won't find any groovy usages). I know it's not ideal, but as I said.. we have to start somehow and it wasn't possible to make it all-in-one, so only other option was to wait for the NetBeans 7.4. I'll focus on better Java-Groovy integration in the next release (not only in refactoring, but also in navigation, code completion etc.) BTW: I've created a new component with surprising name "Refactoring" in our bugzilla[1], so please put the reported issues into this category. • Groovlet + Tomcat: "unable to resolve class" when importing libraries

    - by Rob Hruska
I'm having some trouble running a groovy servlet (groovlet) in tomcat that imports a library class. When I don't import anything the groovlet works correctly, but if I do import something that I expect to be on the classpath (I can import the same class successfully in a regular servlet), I see the following error: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy java.lang.RuntimeException: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy at groovy.servlet.GroovyServlet$1.call(GroovyServlet.java:123) ... Caused by: org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException: startup failed, /MyGroovlet.groovy: 1: unable to resolve class com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLibraryClass @ line 1, column 1. The jar containing MyLibraryClass is in shared/lib, which is loaded by tomcat by the following in catalina.properties: shared.loader=...,${catalina.base}/shared/lib/*.jar,... My groovlets are mapped as described in the user guide in my application's web.xml: <servlet> <servlet-name>GroovyServlet</servlet-name> <servlet-class>groovy.servlet.GroovyServlet</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>GroovyServlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>*.groovy</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> And here's the code for the groovlet, MyGroovlet.groovy: import com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLibraryClass MyLibraryClass.someStaticMethod() My groovlet is deployed to WEB-INF/groovy/MyGroovlet.groovy, per the GroovyServlet API. When I visit http://localhost:8080/myapplication/MyGroovlet.groovy, the error described previously is written to my application logs. Is there some way that I need to explicitly declare the runtime classpath for GroovyServlet? I've tried moving the library jar to several places, including WEB-INF/lib and moving the actual MyLibraryClass.class file to WEB-INF/classes, but with no luck.

  • Using groovy ws with enum types?

    - by Jared
I'm trying to use groovy ws to call a webservice. One of the properties of the generated class is it's self a class with an enum type. Although the debug messages show that the com.test.FinalActionType is created at runtime when the WSDL is read I can't create an instance of it using code like proxy.create("com.test.FinalActionType") When I try and assign a string to my class uin place of an instance of FinalActionType groovy is not able to do the conversion. How can I get an instance of this class to use in a webservice call? I've pasted the important part of the WSDL below. <xsd:simpleType name="FinalActionType"> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string"> <xsd:enumeration value="stop"/> <xsd:enumeration value="quit"/> <xsd:enumeration value="continue"/> <xsd:whiteSpace value="collapse"/> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType>

  • Scope of Groovy's ExpandoMetaClass?

    - by TicketMonster
Groovy exposes an ExpandoMetaClass that allows you to dynamically add instance and class methods/properties to a POJO. I would like to use it to add an instance method to one of my Java classes: public class Fizz { // ...etc. } Fizz fizz = new Fizz(); fizz.metaClass.doStuff = { String blah -> fizz.buzz(blah) } This would be the equivalent to refactoring the Fizz class to have: public class Fizz { // ctors, getters/setters, etc... public void doStuff(String blah) { buzz(blah); } } My question: Does this add doStuff(String blah) to only this particular instance of Fizz? Or do all instances of Fizz now have a doStuff(String blah) instance method? If the former, how do I get all instances of Fizz to have the doStuff instance method? I know that if I made the Groovy: fizz.metaClass.doStuff << { String blah -> fizz.buzz(blah) } Then that would add a static class method to Fizz, such as Fizz.doStuff(String blah), but that's not what I want. I just want all instances of Fizz to now have an instance method called doStuff. Ideas?

  • HTTP Builder/Groovy - lost 302 (redirect) handling?

    - by Misha Koshelev
Dear All: I am reading here http://groovy.codehaus.org/modules/http-builder/doc/handlers.html "In cases where a response sends a redirect status code, this is handled internally by Apache HttpClient, which by default will simply follow the redirect by re-sending the request to the new URL. You do not need to do anything special in order to follow 302 responses." This seems to work fine when I simply use the get() or post() methods without a closure. However, when I use a closure, I seem to lose 302 handling. Is there some way I can handle this myself? Thank you p.s. • How to remove adornments like [exec] when using groovy's AntBuilder

    - by Miguel Pardal
Hi! I'm using Groovy's AntBuilder to execute Ant tasks: def ant = new AntBuilder() ant.sequential { ant.exec(executable: "cmd", dir: "..", resultproperty: "exec-ret-code") { arg(value: "/c") arg(line: "dir") } } The output lines are prefixed by: [exec] Using Ant on the command line, this is turned off by "emacs mode" ant -emacs ... Is there a way to switch to emacs mode using AntBuilder?

  • replacing toString using Groovy metaprogramming

    - by Don
In the following Groovy snippet, I attempt to replace both the hashCode and toString methods String.metaClass.toString = {-> "override" } String.metaClass.hashCode = {-> 22 } But when I test it out, only the replacement of hashCode works String s = "foo" println s.hashCode() // prints 22 println s.toString() // prints "foo" Is toString somehow a special case (possibly for security reasons)?

  • Groovy list.sort by first, second then third elements

    - by Ying
    Hi, I have a groovy list of lists i.e. list = [[2, 0, 1], [1, 5, 2], [1, 0, 3]] I would like sort it by order of the first element, then second, then third. Expected assert list == [[1, 0, 3], [1, 5, 2], [2, 0, 1]] I started with list = list.sort{ a,b -> a[0] <=> b[0] } but that only sorts the first element. How do you finish? Thanks

  • Modifying groovy code at runtime in grails application

    - by parasjain01
When I run my grails application using embedded jetty server(tomcat for grails 1.2), I can make changes to my controllers, services and other java files on-the-fly at runtime without restarting the application. How can I achieve the same functionality on my application deployed on Tomcat(or any server) for that matter. I have observed the exploded war folder under webapps has gsp files but not the groovy files.
