So far I've just done it by hand by copying four spaces to the clipboard and then mashing keys really fast: ?, Home, Ctrl+V (repeat) What is the quickest way to accomplish this? Copying and pasting to another program? (Which?) A Firefox or Chrome browser extension? A command to directly modify the clipboard contents? An auto-typing program?

  • Is hiding content with JavaScript or "text-indent: -9999px" bad for SEO?

    So apparently hiding content using "display: none" is bad for SEO and seen by googlebot as being deceptive. This according to a lot of the posts I read online and questions even on this site. But what if I hide keyword rich text using javascript? A jquery example: $(function() { $('#keywordRichTextContainer').hide(); }); or using visibility hidden: $(function() { $('#keywordRichTextContainer').css({ visibility: 'hidden', position: 'absolute' }); }); Would any of these techniques cause my site to be penalized? If googlebot can't read javascript then if I'm hiding through js it shouldn't know right? What about using "text-indent: -9999px"?

It has to run under Linux (in case you're interested, I want to use it as an filter for nanoc). tidy does too much for me (heck, it alters my doctype!), vim too little.     Wanted A command line HTML5 beautifier running under Linux. Input Garbled, ugly HTML5 code. Possibly the result of multiple templates. You don't love it, it doesn't love you. Output Pure beauty. The code is nicely indented, has enough line breaks, cares for it's whitespace. Rather than viewing it in a webbrowser, you would like to display the code on your website directly. Suspects tidy does too much (heck, it alters my doctype!), and it doesn't work well with HTML5. Maybe there is a way to make it cooperate and not alter anything? vim does too little. It only indents. I want the program to add and remove line breaks, and to play with the whitespace inside of tags. DEAD OR ALIVE!

  • Disable auto-indent certain items in Visual Studio 2005?

    I don't mind most of the way that VS2005 auto-indents (or auto-formats) my C++ code, but certain items I don't want it to automatically indent. Like #define statements for example. It takes them and shoves them all the way to the left side of the screen, no matter how deep into my scope I type them. That's really really annoying. Is there someway to alter this behavior, besides completely disabling auto-indent/format?

    I am going to go ahead and shamelessly duplicate this question because the accepted answer is essentially "nope, no guides" and it's been nearly a year now since it's been asked. Does anyone know of any useful articles, guides, tutorials, etc. for boost::fusion besides the barebones documentation on boost.org? (which I'm sure is great as a reference after one has learned the library.) I'm completely open to, say, a link to a book on Amazon. Searched for it myself just now but all I came up with was green tea. The top links on Google aren't much better.

    In webkit only, the text in a search input is indented from the left side. Here's a demo. Even after stripping all padding, text-indent, and setting -webkit-appearance to textfield or none, the text is still indented. It looks to be around 10px or so, but the inspector doesn't show any CSS rules (even browser defaults) that seem to apply this style. I want to add a similar rule with a recipe, but when I add a rule and its receipe on the next line by giving a tab or space for the recipe, I get make error. dummy : @echo $(OBJS) When i turned on the vim command :set list , i see: dummy :$ ^I@echo $(OBJS)$ What exactly are the characters before the recipe line(second line) which indent it from the start of line? How do I enter them using keyboard (without having to copy paste the exisitng rule and then modifying it? Where would I find information for various spaces/indents to be used in creating a Makefile from beginning, by hand(Not a automake/or other tool created makefile)? thanks, -AD.

    Open Word and insert a table (1 x 1 will work just fine). Right-click in the table and, in the context menu, select "Bullets" and a bullet image from the bullet library. Type something and press enter. Type something else, but, instead of clicking enter, right-click and select "Increase Indent" Notice something else moves into the proper indentation of a nested bullet: Outside of a Word table, you would simply press tab to get this behavior, but I want a keyboard shortcut (if available) to do this inside the table. This is what I've tried: Ctrl + Tab: Just indents the text, not the bullet Ctrl + T: Same as Ctrl + Tab Ctrl + M: Indents the text and the bullet but does not change the bullet style Can this be done outside the right-click context menu?

I want the annotation to be in the same column as the method definition but I can't seem to find a way to tell vim to do that, except maybe using an indent expression but I'm not sure if I can use that together with regular cindent. edit: The filetype plugin was already turned on I just got a bit confused about indenting plugins. The accepted answer may be a bit hackish but works for me as well.

Any ideas how I can get the replaced text to obey Xcode's auto indent rules?

    I'm learning C++. For me, my programming style is just what looks the best; it doesn't seem to follow the rules of any one particular style. Here's an example void f(int x){ //no space between close-paren and bracket if (!x){ cout << "x is non-zero\n"; } //closing bracket indented to the same level as the original statement } It's only slightly different for something like a class or a namespace: class myClass {}; //space between class name and bracket, otherwise the same as functions K&R style does uses that kind of bracketing for statements, but my style uses it for everything. I'd like to know if there's a name for it so I can say simply what my indent style is without having to explain using examples like these.

  • How can I stop Flash from changing indent when user Clicks on hyperlink in TextField?

    I have a TextField which I initialize by setting htmlText. The text has anchor tags (hyperlinks). When a user clicks on the hyperlink, the indentation of the second and subsequent lines in the paragraph changes. Why? How do I stop it? My html has an image at the beginning of the line, followed by the tag, followed by more text. To style the hyper links to look blue always and underlined when the mouse is over them, I do this: var css:StyleSheet = new StyleSheet(); css.parseCSS("a {color: #0000FF;} a:hover {text-decoration: underline;}"); stepText.styleSheet = css; stepText.htmlText = textToUse; stepText.visible = true; Here is a fragment of the html text (with newlines and exrta whitespace added to improve readability - originally it was one long line): <textformat indent="-37" blockindent="37" > <img src="media/interface/level-1-bullets/solid-circle.png" align="left" hspace="8" vspace="1"/> American Dental Association. Clicking on the hyper link causes this particular line to be indented. Subsequent paragraphs are not affected. ASIDE: The image is a list bullet about 37 pixels wide. (I used images instead of li tags because Flash does not allow nested lists, so I faked it using a series of images with varying amounts of whitespace to simulate three levels of indentation.) IDEA: I was thinking of changing all hyperlinks to use "event:" as the URL protocol, which causes a TextEvent.LINK event to be triggered instead of following the link. Then I would have to open the browser in a second call. I could use this event handler to set the html text to itself, which might clear the problem. (When I switch pages in my application and then come back to the page, everything is OKAY again.) PROBLEM: If I use the "event:" protocol and user tries the right-mouse button click, they will get an error, or so I am told.
