  • What is a "Public DNS registered IP address"?

    - by Emma
I've been reading this ICANN agreement on new TLDs and it has this section on DNS service availability, which i don't completely understand: Refers to the ability of the group of listed-as-authoritative name servers of a particular domain name (e.g., a TLD), to answer DNS queries from DNS probes. For the service to be considered available at a particular moment, at least, two of the delegated name servers registered in the DNS must have successful results from “DNS tests” to each of their public-DNS registered “IP addresses” to which the name server resolves. If 51% or more of the DNS testing probes see the service as unavailable during a given time, the DNS service will be considered unavailable. I'm not 100% sure of the part in bold: does "public" refer to the DNS or to the IP addesses? It looks like there's a mistake and that the hyphen should have been after "DNS". So basically does it mean "the public IP addresses registered in the DNS"?

  • Adding IP address to OpenVZ VPS (OpenVZ Web Panel)

    - by andy
I apologise if I sound at all dumb. This is my first dedicated server having used a VPS for over a year and I'm trying to setup a VPS on this new server. I purchased a subnet from my hosting provider that I believe allows me 6 usable IP addresses: 177.xx.xxx.201 - 177.xx.xxx.206 The subnet address looks like this: 177.xx.xxx.200/29. I've gone on my server and added them like it said on a wiki like so: ip addr add 177.**.***.201/29 dev eth0 I done that for all six and now when I go to them in the browser they point to my server. The problem is, I'm using OpenVZ web panel to create VMs (http://code.google.com/p/ovz-web-panel/) so I created a VM and assigned one of those IPs to it. However when SSHing to that IP it SSH's to the dedicated server and not the VM. Am I missing something?

  • IP address and SEO

    - by Joel
Hello, I currently host 5 websites within a dedicated server I own. I have several questions: Does it matter if I host all my sites on 100.100.100.100 (the server's IP for example) or if I split them into 100.100.100.100, 100.100.100.101 ... 100.100.100.104 (that is, each site on its own IP). Does it matter if I use a C-Class for each website? Do search engines really care if your site has its own c-class? Do search engines penalize a website if it moves its IP? Thanks, Joel

  • What approach to take for SIMD optimizations

    - by goldenmean
    Hi, I am trying to optimize below code for SIMD operations (8way/4way/2way SIMD whiechever possible and if it gives gains in performance) I am tryin to analyze it first on paper to understand the algorithm used. How can i optimize it for SIMD:- void idct(uint8_t *dst, int stride, int16_t *input, int type) { int16_t *ip = input; uint8_t *cm = ff_cropTbl + MAX_NEG_CROP; int A, B, C, D, Ad, Bd, Cd, Dd, E, F, G, H; int Ed, Gd, Add, Bdd, Fd, Hd; int i; /* Inverse DCT on the rows now */ for (i = 0; i < 8; i++) { /* Check for non-zero values */ if ( ip[0] | ip[1] | ip[2] | ip[3] | ip[4] | ip[5] | ip[6] | ip[7] ) { A = M(xC1S7, ip[1]) + M(xC7S1, ip[7]); B = M(xC7S1, ip[1]) - M(xC1S7, ip[7]); C = M(xC3S5, ip[3]) + M(xC5S3, ip[5]); D = M(xC3S5, ip[5]) - M(xC5S3, ip[3]); Ad = M(xC4S4, (A - C)); Bd = M(xC4S4, (B - D)); Cd = A + C; Dd = B + D; E = M(xC4S4, (ip[0] + ip[4])); F = M(xC4S4, (ip[0] - ip[4])); G = M(xC2S6, ip[2]) + M(xC6S2, ip[6]); H = M(xC6S2, ip[2]) - M(xC2S6, ip[6]); Ed = E - G; Gd = E + G; Add = F + Ad; Bdd = Bd - H; Fd = F - Ad; Hd = Bd + H; /* Final sequence of operations over-write original inputs. */ ip[0] = (int16_t)(Gd + Cd) ; ip[7] = (int16_t)(Gd - Cd ); ip[1] = (int16_t)(Add + Hd); ip[2] = (int16_t)(Add - Hd); ip[3] = (int16_t)(Ed + Dd) ; ip[4] = (int16_t)(Ed - Dd ); ip[5] = (int16_t)(Fd + Bdd); ip[6] = (int16_t)(Fd - Bdd); } ip += 8; /* next row */ } ip = input; for ( i = 0; i < 8; i++) { /* Check for non-zero values (bitwise or faster than ||) */ if ( ip[1 * 8] | ip[2 * 8] | ip[3 * 8] | ip[4 * 8] | ip[5 * 8] | ip[6 * 8] | ip[7 * 8] ) { A = M(xC1S7, ip[1*8]) + M(xC7S1, ip[7*8]); B = M(xC7S1, ip[1*8]) - M(xC1S7, ip[7*8]); C = M(xC3S5, ip[3*8]) + M(xC5S3, ip[5*8]); D = M(xC3S5, ip[5*8]) - M(xC5S3, ip[3*8]); Ad = M(xC4S4, (A - C)); Bd = M(xC4S4, (B - D)); Cd = A + C; Dd = B + D; E = M(xC4S4, (ip[0*8] + ip[4*8])) + 8; F = M(xC4S4, (ip[0*8] - ip[4*8])) + 8; if(type==1){ //HACK E += 16*128; F += 16*128; } G = M(xC2S6, ip[2*8]) + M(xC6S2, ip[6*8]); H = M(xC6S2, ip[2*8]) - M(xC2S6, ip[6*8]); Ed = E - G; Gd = E + G; Add = F + Ad; Bdd = Bd - H; Fd = F - Ad; Hd = Bd + H; /* Final sequence of operations over-write original inputs. */ if(type==0){ ip[0*8] = (int16_t)((Gd + Cd ) >> 4); ip[7*8] = (int16_t)((Gd - Cd ) >> 4); ip[1*8] = (int16_t)((Add + Hd ) >> 4); ip[2*8] = (int16_t)((Add - Hd ) >> 4); ip[3*8] = (int16_t)((Ed + Dd ) >> 4); ip[4*8] = (int16_t)((Ed - Dd ) >> 4); ip[5*8] = (int16_t)((Fd + Bdd ) >> 4); ip[6*8] = (int16_t)((Fd - Bdd ) >> 4); }else if(type==1){ dst[0*stride] = cm[(Gd + Cd ) >> 4]; dst[7*stride] = cm[(Gd - Cd ) >> 4]; dst[1*stride] = cm[(Add + Hd ) >> 4]; dst[2*stride] = cm[(Add - Hd ) >> 4]; dst[3*stride] = cm[(Ed + Dd ) >> 4]; dst[4*stride] = cm[(Ed - Dd ) >> 4]; dst[5*stride] = cm[(Fd + Bdd ) >> 4]; dst[6*stride] = cm[(Fd - Bdd ) >> 4]; }else{ dst[0*stride] = cm[dst[0*stride] + ((Gd + Cd ) >> 4)]; dst[7*stride] = cm[dst[7*stride] + ((Gd - Cd ) >> 4)]; dst[1*stride] = cm[dst[1*stride] + ((Add + Hd ) >> 4)]; dst[2*stride] = cm[dst[2*stride] + ((Add - Hd ) >> 4)]; dst[3*stride] = cm[dst[3*stride] + ((Ed + Dd ) >> 4)]; dst[4*stride] = cm[dst[4*stride] + ((Ed - Dd ) >> 4)]; dst[5*stride] = cm[dst[5*stride] + ((Fd + Bdd ) >> 4)]; dst[6*stride] = cm[dst[6*stride] + ((Fd - Bdd ) >> 4)]; } } else { if(type==0){ ip[0*8] = ip[1*8] = ip[2*8] = ip[3*8] = ip[4*8] = ip[5*8] = ip[6*8] = ip[7*8] = ((xC4S4 * ip[0*8] + (IdctAdjustBeforeShift<<16))>>20); }else if(type==1){ dst[0*stride]= dst[1*stride]= dst[2*stride]= dst[3*stride]= dst[4*stride]= dst[5*stride]= dst[6*stride]= dst[7*stride]= cm[128 + ((xC4S4 * ip[0*8] + (IdctAdjustBeforeShift<<16))>>20)]; }else{ if(ip[0*8]){ int v= ((xC4S4 * ip[0*8] + (IdctAdjustBeforeShift<<16))>>20); dst[0*stride] = cm[dst[0*stride] + v]; dst[1*stride] = cm[dst[1*stride] + v]; dst[2*stride] = cm[dst[2*stride] + v]; dst[3*stride] = cm[dst[3*stride] + v]; dst[4*stride] = cm[dst[4*stride] + v]; dst[5*stride] = cm[dst[5*stride] + v]; dst[6*stride] = cm[dst[6*stride] + v]; dst[7*stride] = cm[dst[7*stride] + v]; } } } ip++; /* next column */ dst++; } }

    - by Levo
How can I programmatically get the Internet IP address? 1) If the computer is directly connected to the Internet using a USB modem. 2) If the computer is connected to the internet via another computer or a modem/router. I there a way to do both? P.S. This link gives exactly the Internet IP, but how can I use it in my program?

  • IP address spoofing using Source Routing

    - by iamrohitbanga
With IP options we can specify the route we want an IP packet to take while connecting to a server. If we know that a particular server provides some extra functionality based on the IP address can we not utilize this by spoofing an IP packet so that the source IP address is the privileged IP address and one of the hosts on the Source Routing is our own. So if the privileged IP address is x1 and server IP address is x2 and my own IP address is x3. I send a packet from x1 to x2 which is supposed to pass through x3. x1 does not actually send the packet. It is just that x2 thinks the packet came from x1 via x3. Now in response if x2 uses the same routing policy (as a matter of courtesy to x1) then all packets would be received by x3. Will the destination typically use the same IP address sequences as specified in the routing header so that packets coming from the server pass through my IP where I can get the required information? Can we not spoof a TCP connection in the above case? Is this attack used in practice?

  • How do I redirect www and non but not IP

    - by Chad T Parson
I am trying to redirect www.domain.com or domain.com to www.domain.com/temp.html I am using the following code: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*$ RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/www\.domain\.com\/temp\.html" [R=301,L] That works however I do not want to redirect IP. So if someone types in the static IP of the domain then I do not want them to be redirected to www.domain.com/temp.html Anyone have the code to take care of this?

  • Setting up a mail server to send mail from IP

    - by Manishearth
I have a fixed LAN IP, but no domain name. I'd like to be able to send emails within the LAN, and receive mails sent to my IP (user needs to send an email to [email protected]). I've tried the stuff in this post -- the "easy" one gives me an IMAP error in squirrelmail (IMAP is open and listening, but not working), and the "hard" one seems to be outdated. Is it possible to set up an email server (preferably on 12.04) without having a domain name?

  • virutalbox always get back the same ip

    - by user1012451
I exported a virtual machine from my work station, and I am trying to renew the ip-address at home. I put one copy on my laptop and one copy on my PC. I've done this sudo rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and changed the MAC address, but they keep coming back as 192.168.1.165. I need them to be different because I need to run two of these exports at the same time, so I cannot afford to have the same IP. What can I do? Thanks.

  • Reputable geo-ip location Services

    - by Alan Storm
Who are some of the reputable and/or stable geo-ip location service providers? I'm specing out an application that needs this functionality, and whenever I google geo-ip I get a ton of hits, but it's hard to tell who the legit providers are and who the fly-by-night folks are. Ideally I'd like something that can run without a call to an external API (i.e. regular database updates), but would be interested in hearing about experience with providers who offer live/http services. If it ran in PHP that would be great, but so long as it could run in a *nix environment that's fine. I'd prefer a paid service from a reputable provider than an awesome free service that could vanish tomorrow (free services are welcome, just convince me they're not going to vanish).

  • Compare range of ip addresses with start and end ip address in MySQL

    - by Maarten
I have a MySQL table where I store IP ranges. It is setup in the way that I have the start address stored as a long, and the end address (and an id and some other data). Now I have users adding ranges by inputting a start and end ip address, and I would like to check if the new range is not already (partially) in the database. I know I can do a between query, but that doesn't seem to work with 2 different columns, and I also cannot figure out how to pass a range to compare it. Doing it in a loop in PHP is a possibility, but would with a range of e.g. 132.0.0.0-199.0.0.0 be quite a big amount of queries..

  • Matching an IP address with an IP range?

    - by Legend
I have a MySQL table setup as follows: +---------------+-------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +---------------+-------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | ipaddress_s | varchar(15) | YES | MUL | NULL | | | ipaddress_e | varchar(16) | YES | | NULL | | +---------------+-------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ where, ipaddress_s and ipaddress_e look something like: 4.100.159.0-4.100.159.255 Now is there a way I can actually get the row that contains a given IP address? For instance, given the IP address: "4.100.159.5", I want the above row to be returned. So I am trying for a query that looks something like this (but of course this is wrong because in the following I am considering IPs as strings): SELECT * FROM ranges WHERE ipaddress_s<"4.100.159.5" AND ipaddress_e>"4.100.159.5" Any suggestions?

  • Port listening on localhost:8000 but not on ip:8000

    - by Marionette
Hello I'm running a web application on port 8000. When I access it from the host server localhost:8000 it responds ok, 127.0.0.1:8000 also works, but 192.168.1.7:8000 does not work. 192.168.1.7 is the ip of my server. Also if i try to go to another web application running on port 80 it works 192.168.1.7 I enabled ufw firewall and set ufw default allow. I am using ubuntu server 12.04 Any suggestions on why I can't get to my app on port 8000 using the ip-address:8000? Thanks in advance!

  • Finding new IP in a file

    - by Gary
Hello. I have a file of IP addresses called "IPs". When I parse a new IP from my logs, I'd like to see if the new IP is already in file IPs, before I add it. I know how to add the new IP to the file, but I'm having trouble seeing if the new IP is already in the file. !/usr/bin/python from IPy import IP IP = IP('192.168.1.2') f=open(IP('IPs', 'r')) #This line doesn't work f=open('IPs', 'r') # this one doesn't work for line in f: if IP == line: print "Found " +IP +" before" f.close() In the file "IPs", each IP address is on it's own line. As such: 222.111.222.111 222.111.222.112 Also tried to put the file IPs in to an array, but not having good luck with that either. Any ideas? Thank you, Gary

  • comparing actual IP with partial IP in PHP

    - by aslum
Using PHP I'd like to compare an actual ip address to part of one, and see if it matches. For example I want to see if the address matches 12.34.. <?php $rem_address = getenv('REMOTE_ADDR'); $temp = substr ($rem_address,0,6) if ($temp == "12.34.") echo "It's a match"; ?> Is there an easier/better way to do this?

  • Books on Code Contracts in C# 4.0

    - by devoured elysium
Altough I've known Code Contracts for some time, as I've used it a bit in Java, I would like to start using them in C#, now that they are part of C# 4.0. I am looking on learning material, books or vids. Altough tutorials are also welcome, I'd like to have something comprehensive to read, not the typical "here's how you use Requires and here's how you use Ensures". I am looking for something that really stands out in this area. Thanks

  • How to find the static ip address of my router?

    - by OSX NINJA
I bricked my Linksys WRT54GS router when trying to change the firmware on it from dd-wrt to open-wrt. In order to unbrick it, I need to be able to do an ftp transfer to it. The problem is that it isn't using DHCP addressing and I can't just use the default ip address of 192.168.1.1. I have to use the ip address it was set at before it got bricked. The problem is I forgot what that number was. Is there some program or script that can find it out?

  • Gateway IP for eth0 and gateway IP for pptp vpn are same

    - by user286630
My problem is.. 1) I'm using laptop at school. 2) In school, the default gateway for ethernet is 192.168.1.1. 3) I want to connect to a pptp vpn server. The gateway over the vpn connection is also 192.68.1.1. (The VPN server assigns 192.168.100.1 to my laptop and I confirmed that it is not used in school.) In this situation, there is no problem in Windows 7. I think it is enough smart to distinguish two different gateways with the same IP. All connection requests may be forwarded to the vpn gateway. But, in Ubuntu, I cannot access a file server in the remote site. I guess every connection request is forwarded to the ethernet gateway. How can I send all connection requests to the vpn gateway whose IP is same as the ethernet gateway?
