  • Can I use a previous version of iText(Sharp) under the LGPL?

    - by Jens
I'd like to use iTextSharp for PDF manipulation. I need it to run under medium trust (webserver) and to be free of charge (sice this is a very small project), therefore there is not much competition. Unfortunately, since I need it for a commercial project, I cannot the AGPL introduced with version 5.0. Do you know if I may use the 4.x versions using the LGPL? Or is their license automatically updated to the APGL?

  • IE8 (compatibility mode) won't load my Ajax content

    - by Jens Roland
Hi all - I am working on a jQuery script on http://www.qxl.dk/ and I can't seem to get IE7 (or more accurately, IE8 in IE7 compatibility mode) to load my content. The sidebar box on the right named "QXL Aktuelt" loads its HTML content from an external file using Ajax load(), then triggers a custom jQuery event ("aktuelt_loaded") that starts a carousel script (like a scrolling newsticker). Several other content sections on the same page are loaded through Ajax and they work just fine, so I'm wondering what's going wrong. Everything works as expected in Firefox 3.6 and IE8, but not in IE8's compatibility mode. The script that loads the Ajax content is (inline on the page): <div id="qxlaktueltHolder"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> $("#qxlaktueltHolder").load("/contents/dk/modul/qxlaktuelt/qxlaktuelt.htm", function() { $("#qxlaktueltHolder").trigger("qxlaktuelt_loaded", []); }); </script> <script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.qxl.dk/contents/dk/js/jcarousellite_1.0.1.min.js'></script> <script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.qxl.dk/contents/dk/js/qxlaktuelt_liveload.js'></script> The external script that responds to the event is in the following file: http://www.qxl.dk/contents/dk/js/qxlaktuelt_liveload.js All ideas are very welcome.

  • In-Proc SxS opens for shell extension in managed code?

    - by Jens Granlund
The recommendation used to be "Do not write in-process shell extensions in managed code." But with .NET Framework 4 and In-Process Side-by-Side the main reason not to write shell extensions in managed code should be resolved. With that said, I have three questions. Is it now okay to write shell extensions in managed code? Which problems, if any might there be with writing shell extensions in managed code? What reasons might there be to write shell extensions in unmanaged code?

  • How do I get Tycho?

    - by Jens Schauder
Tycho is supposed to be a plug-in for maven for building eclipse plug-ins. I have found various blogs and other articles about it, but the contained links to Tycho are all dead or not accessible for the general public, for example: http://www.sonatype.com/people/2009/04/tycho-040-roadmap/ The only thing I found is a project proposal on the eclipse site, but it doesn't reference any downloads: http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/tycho/ I found a svn repository, but it seems to be extremely dated: http://svn.codehaus.org/m2eclipse/tycho/trunk/ So my question is: where do I get tycho from? Or is it dead and I should stop bothering? I doubt it's dead, since I found out there is a talk about it on JAX2010 ...

  • Passing additional arguments into the OnClick event handler of a LinkButton using Javascript

    - by Jens Ameskamp
Hi! I have a ASP.NET Website, where, in a GridView item template, automatically populated by a LinqDataSource, there is a LinkButton defined as follows: <asp:LinkButton ID="RemoveLinkButton" runat="server" CommandName="Remove" CommandArgument='<%# DataBinder.GetPropertyValue(GetDataItem(), "Id")%>' OnCommand="removeVeto_OnClick" OnClientClick='return confirm("Are you sure?");' Text="Remove Entry" /> This works fine. Whenever the Button is Clicked, a confirmation dialog is displayed. What I am trying to do now, is to allow the user to enter a reason for the removal, and pass this on the the OnClick event handler. How would I do this? I tried OnClientClick='return prompt("Enter your reason!");', but, of course, that did not work =)

  • Opening Visual Studio created XAML in Expression Blend

    - by Jens A.
I have created a console application using Visual Studio 2008. In a few cases, this application shows a WPF dialog. Now, the design view of Visual Studio is a little limited, so I'd like to edit this dialog using Expression Blend 3. Blend does not seem to have an option to load individual XAML files, and when I open my solution in Blend, only the XAML code is displayed when I try to edit the dialog. Edit: I've noticed, that no IntelliSense is available in the text view either. When I create a new WPF Project inside Blend, and copy my dialog there (overwriten MainWindows.xaml), I get a design view. What do I have to do to actually get a design view here? Thank! =) Edit: Header of my XAML file: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="QuantumAnalysis.Deployment.Activation.Checker.MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="MainWindow" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Width="600" SizeToContent="Height">

  • Adding a selection box into an ItemsControl?

    - by Jens
I have a WPF ItemsControl with a Canvas ItemPanel. Drawing from an internal source, it displays lots of automatically generated Rectangles. As of now, it looks like this: <Window // .. NameSpaces > <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="binTemplate"> <Rectangle x:Name="Rect" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Canvas.Left="10" StrokeThickness="0"> // .. Databinding Height, Width, etc </Rectangle> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <DockPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot" LastChildFill="True"> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Bins}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource binTemplate}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas MouseDown="Canvas_MouseDown" MouseMove="Canvas_MouseMove" MouseUp="Canvas_MouseUp"> <Rectangle x:Name="Selection" Canvas.Left="0" Canvas.Top="0" Visibility="Hidden" /> </Canvas> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> </DockPanel> </Window> I now try to implement a selection box, too.. well.. select my Rectangles. =) I tried just adding the box into the ItemsControl PanelTemplate, and controlling it with the Canvas mouse events, but it appears I am not allowed to do so. The error message is "Cannot explicitly modify Children collection of Panel used as ItemsPanel for ItemsControl. ItemsControl generates child elements for Panel." What is the preferred way to implement such behavior? I thought about overlaying another canvas (using negative Margin) and drawing the selection box in there, but that seems like a bad hack. Thanks in advance!

  • How do I properly load the jQuery fullcalendar plugin in a hidden div

    - by Jens Alm
I'm using the jQuery tools tabs to divide my page into tabs. One of those tabs contain a jQuery Fullcalendar. Because I load JavaScript last in the page for speed and to avoid flash of unstyled content, I hide the initially unseen tabs using display:none. When doing this, the fullcalendar doesn't render properly. It shows the proper buttons, but until I press the today-button, no calendar is shown. If I allow it to render into a visible div, it displays properly. I can work around this using the tab-select events to render the calendar or by moving the calendar and tab scripts to the head, but I'd rather if there was a more proper solution.

  • Getting all objects with a certain element inside a collection of strings with criteria API.

    - by Jens Jansson
Hey. I'm trying to build a Hibernate Criteria query to find entities that have a specific element inside a collection. We can take as an example a Book -object that looks like this: public class Book { private Long id; private String title; private Set<String> authors = new HashSet<String>(); } The entity is mapped like this: <class name="Book" table="Book"> <id name="id" column="BOOK_ID"> <generator class="native"/> </id> <property name="title"/> <set name="authors" table="Book_Authors"> <key column="BOOK_ID"/> <element type="string" column="AUTHORS"/> </set> </class> Now I would like to find out which books are written by Matt. With pure SQL I can do a query like this: String author = "Matt"; String query = "SELECT * FROM Book " + "WHERE BOOK_ID IN " + "(SELECT BOOK_ID FROM Book_Authors " + "WHERE authors = :author )"; List<Book> result = session.createSQLQuery(query) .addEntity(Book.class) .setParameter("author", author) .list(); This works all good and well, and I get out all books that Matt has been a part of writing. The project I work in, however, uses the Criteria API instead of raw SQL, and I haven't found a way to express the same query in that form. I've taken a look on the Restrictions API and the closest I've found is Restions.in(propertyName, collection) but that works the other way around (one value in object, many values to match against). Any ideas?

  • Is the Java classpath final after JVM startup?

    - by Jens
Hi, I have read a lot about the Java class loading process lately. Often I came across texts that claimed that it is not possible to add classes to the classpath during runtime and load them without class loader hackery (URLClassLoaders etc.) As far as I know classes are loaded dynamically. That means their bytecode representation is only loaded and transformed to a java.lang.Class object when needed. So shouldn't it be possible to add a JAR or *.class file to the classpath after the JVM started and load those classes, provided they haven't been loaded yet? (To be clear: In this case the classpath is simple folder on the filesystem. "Adding a JAR or *.class file" simply means dropping them in this folder.) And if not, does that mean that the classpath is searched on JVM startup and all fully qualified names of the found classes are cached in an internal "list"? It would be nice of you if you could point me to some sources in your answers. Preferably the offical SUN documentation: Sun JVM Spec. I have read the spec but could not find anything about the classpath and if it's finalized on JVM startup. P.s. This is a theoretical question. I just want to know if it is possible. There is nothing practical I want to achieve. There is just my thirst for knowledge :)

  • Maven and db4o dependency

    - by Jens Jansson
I'm intrigued to test new frameworks in the Java world, and decided to create a new project that takes advantage of Maven and db4o. I'm starting to get a hang of Maven, but I have a hard time adding db4o as a dependency to the project. First problem is that db4o doesn't exist in the official Maven repositories. Next up comes the problem that db4o seem to have recently restructured their whole site's URI:s, so I'm getting 'site not found' messages all the time when I try to navigate their site. I found somewhere a potential Maven repository that should be at https://source.db4o.com/maven but I get all the time "Error reading archetype catalog https://source.db4o.com/maven Unable to locate resource in repository" when I try to access it. So, any suggestions on how I'll get db4o up through Maven? I've managing Maven through Eclipse with the M2Eclipse plugin.

  • Login as SYS user to Oracle 11g from .NET

    - by Jens Bannmann
Using the Oracle Data Provider for .NET, my application connects to the database using the privileged SYS user. The connection string is as follows: Data Source=MyTnsName;User ID=sys;Password=MySysPassword;DBA Privilege=SYSDBA This works fine with Oracle 10, but Oracle 11 keeps complaining about an invalid username or password. I verified that the password is correct - other apps work fine with the same credentials. Note that for regular users (without the DBA Privilege part), connecting to Oracle 11 works perfectly. So, what's wrong? Update: This is not an issue with case sensitivity - when constructing the connection string, the password case is not altered by my code, and the password works fine with other, non-.NET-applications. I suspect that this might be caused by the Oracle 10 client I'm using to connect to the 11 database. Oracle states that the client is upward-compatible, the only drawback being that you cannot use some new features of the database. However, SYSDBA connections clearly are not a new Oracle 11 feature, and - again - a non-.NET-app (Keeptool Hora) can connect using the same setup. Any other ideas? Update 2: The problem persists when using an Oracle 11 client :-(

  • xPath insert before and after - With DOM and PHP

    - by Jens Törnell
    I need to add a class to a HTML structure. My class is called "container" and should start right after div/ul/li (the child of ul and its simblings, not grandchilds) and should end right before the closing of the same element. My whole code looks like this: <?php $content = ' <div class="sidebar-1"> <ul> <li> <h4>Title</h4> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> </ul> </li> <li> <p>Paragraf</p> </li> <li> <h4>New title</h4> <ul> <li>Some text</li> <li>Some text åäö</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> '; $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->loadHTML($content); $x = new DOMXPath($doc); $start_text = '<div class="container">'; $end_text = '</div>'; foreach($x->query('//div/ul/li') as $anchor) { $anchor->insertBefore(new DOMText($start_text),$anchor->firstChild); } echo $doc->saveXML($doc->getElementsByTagName('ul')->item(0)); ?> It works as far as i can add the class opening but not the closing element. I also get strange encoding doing this. I want the output to be the same encoding as the input. The result should be <div class="sidebar-1"> <ul> <li> <div class="content"> <h4>Title</h4> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> </ul> </div> </li> <li> <div class="content"> <p>Paragraf</p> </div> </li> <li> <div class="content"> <h4>New title</h4> <ul> <li>Some text</li> <li>Some text åäö</li> </ul> </div> </li> </ul> </div>

  • What java version is needed for JUnit 4.8

    - by Jens Schauder
I am trying to run JUnit test with a 1.5 JRE, but get the error Message: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file When I switch to JRE 1.6 (actually a JDK but that shouldn't matter, right?) everythings works fine. So the questions are: Do we really need Java 6 for the current JUnit version? what is the newest JUnit version, that works with Java 5?

  • Simulating an identity column within an insert trigger

    - by William Jens
I have a table for logging that needs a log ID but I can't use an identity column because the log ID is part of a combo key. create table StuffLogs { StuffID int LogID int Note varchar(255) } There is a combo key for StuffID & LogID. I want to build an insert trigger that computes the next LogID when inserting log records. I can do it for one record at a time (see below to see how LogID is computed), but that's not really effective, and I'm hoping there's a way to do this without cursors. select @NextLogID = isnull(max(LogID),0)+1 from StuffLogs where StuffID = (select StuffID from inserted) The net result should allow me to insert any number of records into StuffLogs with the LogID column auto computed. StuffID LogID Note 123 1 foo 123 2 bar 456 1 boo 789 1 hoo Inserting another record using StuffID: 123, Note: bop will result in the following record: StuffID LogID Note 123 3 bop

  • Problem Naming an Interface

    - by Jens Schauder
I have an interface named PropertyFilter which used to take a Propertyand decide if accepts it or not. And the world was good. But now the interface changed, so that implementations may choose to add additional Propertys. For example a Customer property might get expanded into Name and Address properties. I think it is obvious this is not a Filter anymore, but how would you call such a thing?

  • How to deal with files that are relevant to version control, but that frequently change in irrelevant ways?

    - by Jens Mühlenhoff
.dproj files are essential for Delphi projects, so they have to be under version control. These files are controlled by the IDE and also contain some information that is frequently changed, but totally irrelevant for version control. For example: I change the start parameters of the application frequently (several times a day), but don't want to accidently commit the project file if only the part dealing with the start parameters has changed. So how to deal with this situation? A clean solution would be to take the file apart, but that isn't possible with the Delphi IDE AFAIK. Can you ignore a specific part of a file? We're using Subversion at the moment, but may migrate to Git soon.

  • VB.net Network Graph code/algorithm

    - by Jens
For a school project we need to visualise a computer network graph. The number of computers with specific properties are read from an XML file, and then a graph should be created. Ad random computers are added and removed. Is there any open source project or algorithm that could help us visualising this in VB.net? Or would you suggest us to switch to java. Update: We eventually switched java and used the Jung libraries because this was easier for us to understand and implement.

Both alone are fine but when I try to implement a Google Map into a Dojo content pane which is embedded in a border-container it simply does not work. I think there is a problem with the naming of the divs but perhaps there is something else to take care of? Could someone post the simplest possible solution? many thanks

  • How can I determine img width/height of dynamically loaded images in IE?

    - by Jens
My markup is a simple div element with id 'load'. Using jQuery I then load a list of image elements into this div: $('#load').load('images.html', { }, function() { $(this).onImagesLoad({ selectorCallback: function() { ....do something.... } }); }); where images.html is a list like this: <img src='1.jpg' caption='img 1'> <img src='2.jpg' caption='img 2'> ... To ensure that all images are loaded completely, I use the onImagesLoad plugin. This, so far, works just fine on all browsers. However, on IE8 (and I assume other versions of IE also) when I then iterate over the img elements, I am unable to determine the width/height of the images loaded. The image.context.naturalWidth and naturalHeight attributes don't seem to work. How do I get a hold of the images' dimension? Thanks heaps :)
