  • Rails route rewriting quesiton

    Hi guys, I think this is an easy question. I am using this useful Flash Document Reader called FlexPaper. I have it embeded in one of my Show pages. But when I click the a link on their tool bar to show the document in a new browser, it points to the following link ... http://0.0.0.0:3000/intels/FlexPaperViewer.swf?ZoomTime=0.5&FitPageOnLoad=false&PrintEnabled=false&SwfFile=%2FPaper.swf which doesn't work, but if I remove the "intels" from the path so the url looks like: http://0.0.0.0:3000/FlexPaperViewer.swf?ZoomTime=0.5&FitPageOnLoad=false&PrintEnabled=false&SwfFile=%2FPaper.swf It works fine. My question is what is the best way to handle this. Can you write a route that rewrites a url that starts with intels/FlexPaperViewer.swf and removes the intels prefix? What would that look like?   • UITableView and keyboard scrolling problem

    after a lot of trial and error, I'm giving up and asking the question. I've seen a lot of people with similar problems but can't get all the answers to work right. I have a UITableView which is composed of custom cells. The cells are made of 5 text fields next to each other (sort of like a grid). When I try to scroll and edit the cells at the bottom of the UITableView, I can't manage to get my cells properly positioned above the keyboard. I have seen many answers talking about changing view sizes,etc... but none of them has worked nicely so far. Could anybody clarify the "right" way to do this with a concrete code example?     Hi guys, Is there a way to have treat google serach results as an rss feed? For example say I worked for stackoverflow and wanted to montior how if the results from the following search url: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=stackoverflow changes from day today. It would be cool if I could append &output=rss to the url and get back a feed like with google news. But that does not seem to be supported. Anyone have ideas?     Hey all- I'm doing some performance-critical Python work and want to create a function that removes a few elements from a list if they meet certain criteria. I'd rather not create any copies of the list because it's filled with a lot of really large objects. Functionality I want to implement: def listCleanup(listOfElements): i = 0 for element in listOfElements: if(element.meetsCriteria()): del(listOfElements[i]) i += 1 return listOfElements myList = range(10000) myList = listCleanup(listOfElements) I'm not familiar with the low-level workings of Python. Is myList being passed by value or by reference? How can I make this faster?   • Identifying which value of a multi-row inserts fails foreign key constraint

    I have a multi-row insert that looks something like: insert into table VALUES (1, 2, 3), (4, 5, 6), (7, 8, 9); Assume the first attribute (1, 4, 7) is a foreign key to another table and assume that this referenced table does not have the value '4'. A MySQLExeption is thrown with error code 1452. EXCEPTION: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (dbName/tableName, CONSTRAINT id FOREIGN KEY (customer_id) REFERENCES referencedTable (customer_id)) Is there a way to identify which value caused the error? I would love to give my user an error message that said something like: Error: '4' does not exist in the referenced table. I am using the .NET mysql connector to execute the insert. Thanks- Jonathan

    Hello! This is a simple question, but I didn´t found any documentation about this. When an applet makes a request, how is the user agent of the request. I want to know the applet user-agent expression to detect if a request comes from an applet. I make two test, with IE7 and Firefox 3.0.5 with JDK 1.6.0_03 and the user agent was "Mozilla/4.0 (Windows 2003 5.2) Java/1.6.0_03" in both, but I can´t generalize from two test.     Hey all- I'm using QBFC to generate invoices in a Quickbooks integrating app. I'm getting an exception thrown for lineItem.Amount.SetValue(val as Double) when I try to enter a programmatically generated double. The following does not work: lineItem = invoice.ORInvoiceLineAddList.Append.InvoiceLineAdd Dim amount as Double amount = summary.dailySold * summary.dailyRate loggingTxtBox.AppendText("Amount is " & amount & vbNewLine) lineItem.Amount.SetValue(amount) The exception I receive is System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040305): Invalid Amount format. at Interop.QBFC8.IQBAmountType.SetValue(Double val) The following works: lineItem.Amount.SetValue(20.3) Any suggestions?   • Multiple things at once (Threads?)

    All, What is a really simple way of having a program do more than one thing at once, even if the computer does not necessarily have multiple 'cores'. Can I do this by creating more than one Thread? My goal is to be able to have two computers networked (through Sockets) to respond to each-other's requests, while my program will at the same time be able to be managing a UI. I want the server to potentially handle more than one client at the same time as well. My understanding is that the communication is done with BufferedReader.readLine() and PrintWriter.println(). My problem is that I want the server to be waiting on multiple readLine() requests, and also be doing other things. How do I handle this? Many thanks, Jonathan

    We are attempting to implement Microsoft VSS for snap-shotting in our NetBackup 6.5.3.1 environment. The clients are both 32 & 64 bit Windows 2003 Server. Snapshot parameters are: Instant recovery is enabled Maximum snapshots = 1 Provider type = 1 (System) Snapshot attribute = 1 (Differential) All backups successfully complete, and VSS shadows are successfully created both for the snapshot backup and for the open files (shadow copy components). The Issue: NetBackup is not clearing or overwriting old snapshots with each successive backup. When we list shadows, and shadow storage, it is increasing and increasing. IT is not honouring the Maximum Snapshot setting. The Logs: The bpfis log doesn’t really appear to show any errors other than for methods which we are not employing (VxVM, Flashsnap, etc.).   • Receiving "MERGE" 200 OK error when committing using trac-post-commit-hook

    When running a commit with the trac-post-commit-hook I receive a MERGE 200 OK error, I understand that this means that the commit has succeeded on the server but the file status has not updated on my local machine. But I can't find anyway to fix this issue. Would this be a problem with my setup or something in the script. I'm using stock standard script from the trac site, I'm committing through tortoiseSVN to VisualSVN Server which is hosted on a windows 2008 server. When I run the script through a command line I receive no errors, I only receive this error through TortoiseSVN.

  • jQuery: ajax polling plugin alternative (instead of PeriodicalUpdater?)

    Hi, I'm trying to poll a script every few seconds. The script will return a timestamp, and if this timestamp is different from the previous (the first time is always true since it's comparing with nothing), then do something. Thing is PeriodicalUpdater seems to work fine for me. But I read that JSON.parse does not work in IE<8. I'm therefore hoping there's another alternative that would support more browsers out there? Is there another plugin that can do ajax polling? Thanks!

    Hi, I have an animation on a partially hidden div container that will execute when the result returned from an ajax query is true. (The animation actually just brings the box into larger view, and then sliding it back in again) $('#box').animate({'right':'-184px'}, 300, 'easeOutBounce'); $('#box').animate({'right':'-194px'}, 150, 'easeOutExpo'); How can I make this animation repeat every 4 seconds until the user clicks on $('#box')?   • jQuery width() returns 0 for a span element created on the fly?

    Hi, I'm trying to determine the width of a string. I'm using the following code but it always return 0. It seems to be that as the span element is created and not already present in the page body, jQuery width() returns 0. Is there a way such that I can get the width of the text without resorting to creating dummy html code in the page?   • jQuery autocomplete function, how to add support for words not available in the database yet?

    Hi, I'm looking to implement a tag system like how SO uses on their site, where users can specify multiple tag words. However, on top of all the other autocomplete functions available as jquery plugins, I also want to allow users to enter new words not in the database. Does anyone know of any plugin that can do that? Or if there isn't, how one can add that functionality to an existing autocomplete function?   • What's the different between these 2 mysql queries? one using left join

    Hi, I see people using LEFT JOIN in their mysql queries to fetch data from two tables. But I normally do it without left join. Is there any differences besides the syntax, e.g. performance? Here's my normal query style: SELECT * FROM table1 as tbl1, table2 as tbl2 WHERE tbl1.id=tbl2.table_id as compared to SELECT * FROM table1 as tbl1 LEFT JOIN table2 as tbl2 on tbl1.id=tbl2.id Personally I prefer the first style...hmm..

  • same logged in user assigned different session ids (in different browsers)

    Hi, I've implemented a mysql-based session interface in php. I just found out that if I log in to my account using browser A (e.g. Chrome), and then I log in to the same account in another browser B (e.g. IE), each browser is assigned 2 separate session ids. How can I make it such that when I log in again using browser B, I retain the active session of the previous browser A? The issue at hand is that I'm storing certain information in the session and the data not being synchronised between the same users in different browsers and is wrecking havoc. :S Is there a way to achieve this?     Hi, I am able to make a hidden div show/hide when an input field is in focus/blur using the following code: $('#example').focus(function() { $('div.example').css('display','block'); }).blur(function() { $('div.example').fadeOut('medium'); }); The problem is I want div.example to continue to be visible when the user is interacting within this div. E.g. click, or highlighting the text etc. within div.example. However div.example fades out whenever the input is not in focus and the mouse is interacting with elements within the div. The html code for the input and div elements is as follows: <p> <label for="example">Text:</label> <input id="example" name="example" type="text" maxlength="100" /> <div class="example">Some text...<br /><br />More text...</div> </p> How do I make it such that the div.example only disappears when the user clicks outside the input and/or div.example? I tried experimenting with focusin/focusout to check the focus on <p> but that didn't work either. Would it matter that div.example is positioned directly below the input field #example using jQuery?     Hi, I'm baffled. I'm trying to find suitable colors for a logo that would look similar across most monitors/screens. I know it's near impossible, but how does one end up with the color palette that new Google logo and Facebook "blue" uses for example? I've a monitor that has been calibrated, and a few laptop screens that have default settings. Yet both the Google logo and facebook's look similar (although they aren't using colors restricted to the web safe 216 palette. Any ideas? thoughts? Thanks

  • problems with scrolling a java TextArea

    All, I am running into an issue using JTextArea and JScrollPane. For some reason the scroll pane appears to not recognize the last line in the document, and will only scroll down to the line before it. The scroll bar does not even change to a state where I can slide it until the lines in the document are two greater than the number of lines the textArea shows (it should happen as soon as it is one greater). Has anyone run into this before? What would be a good solution (I want to avoid having to add an extra 'blank' line to the end of the document, which I would have to remove every time I add a new line)? Here is how I instantiate the TextArea and ScrollPane: JFrame frame = new JFrame("Java Chat Program"); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); Container pane = frame.getContentPane(); if (!(pane.getLayout() instanceof BorderLayout)) { System.err.println("Error: UI Container does not implement BorderLayout."); System.exit(-1); } textArea = new JTextArea(); textArea.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(500, 100)); textArea.setEditable(false); textArea.setLineWrap(true); textArea.setWrapStyleWord(true); JScrollPane scroller = new JScrollPane(textArea); scroller.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(ScrollPaneConstants.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); pane.add(scroller, BorderLayout.CENTER); Here is the method I use to add a new line to textArea: public void println(String a) { textArea.append(" "+a+"\n"); textArea.setCaretPosition(textArea.getDocument().getLength()); } Thanks for your help, Jonathan EDIT: Also, as a side note, with the current code I have to manually scroll down. I assumed that setCaretPosition(doc.getLength()) in the println(line) method would automatically set the page to the bottom after a line is entered... Should that be the case, or do I need to do something differently?

    Hey all- I'm using ParallelPython to develop a performance-critical script. I'd like to share one value between the 8 processes running on the system. Please excuse the trivial example but this illustrates my question. def findMin(listOfElements): for el in listOfElements: if el < min: min = el import pp min = 0 myList = range(100000) job_server = pp.Server() f1 = job_server.submit(findMin, myList[0:25000]) f2 = job_server.submit(findMin, myList[25000:50000]) f3 = job_server.submit(findMin, myList[50000:75000]) f4 = job_server.submit(findMin, myList[75000:100000]) The pp docs don't seem to describe a way to share data across processes. Is it possible? If so, is there a standard locking mechanism (like in the threading module) to confirm that only one update is done at a time? l = Lock() if(el < min): l.acquire if(el < min): min = el l.release I understand I could keep a local min and compare the 4 in the main thread once returned, but by sharing the value I can do some better pruning of my BFS binary tree and potentially save a lot of loop iterations.
