  • Upgrading openSUSE 11.1 with Plesk Panel 9.3 to PHP 5.3

    Hello, I'm running a VPS with openSUSE 11.1 (i586). On the VPS is Parallels Plesk Panel 9.3.0 installed. The current PHP-version is PHP 5.2.11. I want to upgrade PHP to PHP 5.3, but I can't find good instructions on how to do this. If I check for updates in Zypper, it says this is the latest release. In the Plesk Updates isn't an update either, both via the webbased interface and the command line interface. On Software.openSUSE.org I can find packages for PHP 5.3.1 in both the server:php/server_apache_openSUSE_11.1-repo and the server:php/openSUSE_11.1-repo (can't post the link because I'm a newbie here). But if I add one of those to Zypper, I still don't see an update. Is there here somebody who knows how to do this? And is it completely safe to update that way? I don't want to end up with a broken VPS... Thanks! Jonathan

    I download many files, usually 2 or 3 a day, often 10ish. Some of them are duplicates because I just can't be bothered to find the original in my downloads folder. I have previously tried DAP and used that to create a new subfolder for each day's download. yet I have found this insufficient as sometimes I wish to find files by name/file type or I have multiple parts of downloads over more than one day. Another problem I have found is zips/rars/etc after downloading them and extracting them I then have the zip and the folder. I like it like on a Mac where it automatically extracts the zip after it has been downloaded and removes the zip. What I'd like to be able to do is sort the downloads by date, but dynamically so they are just in the big downloads folder, but I can just press a button and it will show me all the files from a particular site, or from a particular day or by a certain file type. Is there any software that will do this? I use Chrome as a browser but also have Firefox and like that. Jonathan

    During set-up of a home server (running Kubuntu 10.04), I created an admin user for performing administrative tasks that may require an unmounted home. This user has a home directory on the root partition of the box. The machine has an internet-facing SSH server, and I have restricted the set of users that can connect via SSH, but I would like to restrict it further by making admin only accessible from my laptop (or perhaps only from the local 192.168.1.0/24 range). I currently have only an AllowGroups ssh-users with myself and admin as members of the ssh-users group. What I want is something that works like you may expect this setup to work (but it doesn't): $ groups jonathan ... ssh-users $ groups admin ... ssh-restricted-users $ cat /etc/ssh/sshd_config ... AllowGroups ssh-users [email protected].* ... Is there a way to do this? I have also tried this, but it did not work (admin could still log in remotely): AllowUsers [email protected].* * AllowGroups ssh-users with admin a member of ssh-users.   • Problems with createImage(int width, int height)

I looked around, and it seems that createImage() will return null if GraphicsEnvironment.isHeadless() returns true. I don't understand exactly what the isHeadless() method's purpose is, but I thought it might have something to do with the compiler or IDE, so I tried on two, both of which get the same error (Eclipse, and BlueJ). Anyone have any idea what the source of the error is, and how I might fix it? Thanks in advance Jonathan ...................................................................     After downloading Visual Studio 2005 SP1 and Visual Studio 2005 Upgrade for Vista to install Visual Studio 2005 on Windows 7, when I tried to intall Visual Studio 2005 SP1, I got this error message: The up patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded is missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of program. Verify that the program to be updated exist on your computer and you have correct upgrade patch I have saved VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU (1) and VS80sp1-KB932232-X86-ENU on the D: drive. What should I do to install Visual Studio 2005 on Windows 7?

  • Iptables config breaks Java + Elastic Search communication

    I am trying to set up a firewall for a server hosting a java app and ES. Both are on the same server and communicate to each other. The problem I am having is that my firewall configuration prevents java from connecting to ES. Not sure why really.... I have tried lot of stuff like opening the port range 9200:9400 to the server ip without any luck but from what I know all communication inside the server should be allowed with this configuration. The idea is that ES should not be accessible from outside but it should be accessible from this java app and ES uses the port range 9200:9400.   • Windows 8 Login Password Out of Sync with Windows Live ID

    I'm working with a computer that has setup a local account connected under Windows Live ID. The user can login to Live ID (like hotmail) from another computer with the correct credentials. However from the Windows 8 computer using the correct password it indicates. That password is incorrect. Make sure you're using the password for you Mircrosoft Account. You can always reset it at account.live.com/password/reset. Now, I've used NTPASSWD to reset the password, but it seems that since its not a "Local Account" it wont take the new password or blank one. This account also has a "PIN" the user who also has forgotten it. I also tried to enable/password set the local Administrator account but it does not show up for login. Any ideas?

Does anybody have any good suggestions for a free web hosting service where I can upload simple HTML/CSS & JavaScript experiments? I don't have large bandwidth needs, nor do I need a WYSIWYG editor. Ideally I'd like to just upload the HTML, CSS, and JS files directly.

  • What command should be used to connect via SSH through squid proxy?

    I have set up a Squid HTTP Proxy (in centOS) and intended to use it also for ssh connections. Managed to configure putty (in a windows client) to use this proxy while connecting by ssh. Confirmed in the "target host" that the ssh connection was coming from Proxy server ip instead of the windows client IP. Used: targethost: 22 for ssh proxyserv: 3128 for proxy (along with proxy credentials) I'm now having problems connecting to the "target host" using Ubuntu and the same proxy server. I have tried the following: me@mycomp:~$ connect-proxy -H test@proxyserv:3128 targethost 22 Enter proxy authentication password for test@proxyserv: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.2p2 Ubuntu-6 It hangs in last line, expecting some input. All attempts resulted in a "Protocol mismatch." error. Putty successfully connects to the http proxy and sends credentials, showing me ssh login right away. - How to do (with commands in Ubuntu) the same putty does? - Is there any other way than connect-proxy command to do this?   • How to edit semi-plaintext file and maintaining character structure?

    I am using a software (Groupmail from Infacta) that uses exact / absolute %PATHS% for saving some settings in specific semi-plaintext file. This is a really bad idea because you can't move to USER folder, or like my case it does not work after migrating to a new computer with different language. For example: C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Infacta is different than C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Configuración local\Datos de programa\Infacta Obviously, the software does not work well. I tried to solve this using Find/Replace the new PATH with Notepad++. While the Groupmail software loads well and shows settings correctly, the software fails when trying to save data on that file. I guess this is because length or number of replaced characters is different and also it corrupt the file. Please could you help me to edit this file maintaining file integrity / structure?

    libmcrypt is a powerful encryption library that is very popular with PHP-based applications. However, most Linux distributions do not include it. This causes problems for many users that need to download and compile it separately. I am guessing that the reason it is not shipped is related to encryption or patent issues. However, the source code for library itself is hosted and available on sourceforge.net I have been searching unsuccessfully for a document of authoritative post that explains the exact issues why this extension is not bundled with mainstream distributions. Can anyone provide a pointer to such material or provide an explanation?

  • nunit2 Nant task always returns exit code 0 (TeamCity 5.0)

    Hello, I just cannot for the life of me get my nant build file to terminate upon a test failure and return (thus preventing the packaging and artifact step from running) This is the unit part of the nant file: <target name="unittest" depends="build"> <nunit2 verbose="true" haltonfailure="false" failonerror="true" failonfailureatend="true"> <formatter type="Xml" /> <test assemblyname="Code\AppMonApiTests\bin\Release\AppMonApiTests.dll" /> </nunit2> </target> And regardless what combination of true/false i set the haltonfailure, failonerror, failonfailureatend properties to, the result is always this: [11:15:09]: Some tests has failed in C:\Build\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\ba5b94566a814a34\Code\AppMonApiTests\bin\Release\AppMonApiTests.dll, tests run terminated. [11:15:09]: NUnit Launcher exited with code: 1 [11:15:09]: Exit code 0 will be returned.1 Please help as i don't want to be publishing binarys where the unit tests have failed!!!   • How to encorporate encyption to FlexPaper

    Is it possible to configure the FlexPaper reader to un-encrypt password-protected pdfs or swfs? Here is the use-case: User uploads a pdf My server would then convert the pdf to swf via pdf2swf Then somehow encrypt the swf with a password (not sure best way to do this) Then the FlexPaper would be able to un-encrypt the swf and display it What I am trying to avoid is the caching of readable swf in the browser's cache. Any ideas on the best way to achieve this? I know, even with this it will not be a fully secure solution, but certainly helps. Note: I am running this on Linux and OS X and using Rails. Thanks!   • Insert rows into MySQL table while changing one value

    Hey all- I have a MySQL table that defines values for a specific customer type. | CustomerType | Key Field 1 | Key Field 2 | Value | Each customer type has 10 values associated with it (based on the other two key fields). I am creating a new customer type (TypeB) that is exactly the same as another customer type (TypeA). I want to insert "TypeB" as the CustomerType but then just copy the values from TypeA's rows for the other three fields. Is there an SQL insert statement to make this happen? Somthing like: insert into customers(customer_type, key1, key2, value) values "TypeB" union select key1, key2, value from customers where customer_type = "TypeA" Thanks- Jonathan

  • Rails route rewriting quesiton

    Hi guys, I think this is an easy question. I am using this useful Flash Document Reader called FlexPaper. I have it embeded in one of my Show pages. But when I click the a link on their tool bar to show the document in a new browser, it points to the following link ... http://0.0.0.0:3000/intels/FlexPaperViewer.swf?ZoomTime=0.5&FitPageOnLoad=false&PrintEnabled=false&SwfFile=%2FPaper.swf which doesn't work, but if I remove the "intels" from the path so the url looks like: http://0.0.0.0:3000/FlexPaperViewer.swf?ZoomTime=0.5&FitPageOnLoad=false&PrintEnabled=false&SwfFile=%2FPaper.swf It works fine. My question is what is the best way to handle this. Can you write a route that rewrites a url that starts with intels/FlexPaperViewer.swf and removes the intels prefix? What would that look like? Is there a better option? Thanks! Jonathan
