  • Initializing a char array through passed pointer segfaults

    - by Bitgarden
    Ie., why does the following work: char* char_array(size_t size){ return new char[size]; } int main(){ const char* foo = "foo"; size_t len = strlen(foo); char* bar=char_array(len); memset(bar, 0, len+1); } But the following segfaults: void char_array(char* out, size_t size){ out= new char[size]; } int main(){ const char* foo = "foo"; size_t len = strlen(foo); char* bar; char_array(bar, len); memset(bar, 0, len+1); }

  • why can't I use "&&" in python to mean 'and'?

    - by Sergio Tapia
    Here's my code: # F. front_back # Consider dividing a string into two halves. # If the length is even, the front and back halves are the same length. # If the length is odd, we'll say that the extra char goes in the front half. # e.g. 'abcde', the front half is 'abc', the back half 'de'. # Given 2 strings, a and b, return a string of the form # a-front + b-front + a-back + b-back def front_back(a, b): # +++your code here+++ if len(a) % 2 == 0 && len(b) % 2 == 0: return a[:(len(a)/2)] + b[:(len(b)/2)] + a[(len(a)/2):] + b[(len(b)/2):] else: #todo! Not yet done. :P return I'm getting an error in the IF conditional. What am I doing wrong?

  • c permutation of a number

    - by Pkp
    I am writing a program for magic box. As the only way around it is brute force, I wrote a program to compute permutations of a given array using bells algorithm. I wrote in the lines similar to http://programminggeeks.com/c-code-for-permutation/. It does work for array of 3 and 4. It does not work for an arryay of 8 numbers (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). I see that the combination 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 gets repeated couple of times. Also there are other combinations that gets repeated. I see that certain combinations don't get displayed even. So could someone tell me what is wrong in the program below. Code: include<stdio.h> int len,numperm=1,count=0; display(int a[]){ int i; for(i=0;i<len;i++) printf("%d ",a[i]); printf("\n"); count++; } swap(int *a,int *b){ int temp; temp=*a; *a=*b; *b=temp; } no_of_perm(){ int x; for(x=1;x<=len;x++) numperm=numperm*x; } perm(int a[]){ int x,y; while(count < numperm){ for(x=0;x<len-1;x++){ swap(&a[x],&a[x+1]); display(a); } swap(&a[0],&a[1]); display(a); for(y=len-1;y>0;y--){ swap(&a[y],&a[y-1]); display(a); } swap(&a[len-1],&a[len-2]); display(a); } } main(int argc, char *argv[]){ if(argc<2){ printf("Error\n"); exit(0); } int i,*a=malloc(sizeof(int)*atoi(argv[1])); len=atoi(argv[1]); for(i=0;i<len;i++) a[i]=i+1; no_of_perm(); perm(a); }

  • Project Euler 17: (Iron)Python

    - by Ben Griswold
    In my attempt to learn (Iron)Python out in the open, here’s my solution for Project Euler Problem 17.  As always, any feedback is welcome. # Euler 17 # http://projecteuler.net/index.php?section=problems&id=17 # If the numbers 1 to 5 are written out in words: # one, two, three, four, five, then there are # 3 + 3 + 5 + 4 + 4 = 19 letters used in total. # If all the numbers from 1 to 1000 (one thousand) # inclusive were written out in words, how many letters # would be used? # # NOTE: Do not count spaces or hyphens. For example, 342 # (three hundred and forty-two) contains 23 letters and # 115 (one hundred and fifteen) contains 20 letters. The # use of "and" when writing out numbers is in compliance # with British usage. import time start = time.time() def to_word(n): h = { 1 : "one", 2 : "two", 3 : "three", 4 : "four", 5 : "five", 6 : "six", 7 : "seven", 8 : "eight", 9 : "nine", 10 : "ten", 11 : "eleven", 12 : "twelve", 13 : "thirteen", 14 : "fourteen", 15 : "fifteen", 16 : "sixteen", 17 : "seventeen", 18 : "eighteen", 19 : "nineteen", 20 : "twenty", 30 : "thirty", 40 : "forty", 50 : "fifty", 60 : "sixty", 70 : "seventy", 80 : "eighty", 90 : "ninety", 100 : "hundred", 1000 : "thousand" } word = "" # Reverse the numbers so position (ones, tens, # hundreds,...) can be easily determined a = [int(x) for x in str(n)[::-1]] # Thousands position if (len(a) == 4 and a[3] != 0): # This can only be one thousand based # on the problem/method constraints word = h[a[3]] + " thousand " # Hundreds position if (len(a) >= 3 and a[2] != 0): word += h[a[2]] + " hundred" # Add "and" string if the tens or ones # position is occupied with a non-zero value. # Note: routine is broken up this way for [my] clarity. if (len(a) >= 2 and a[1] != 0): # catch 10 - 99 word += " and" elif len(a) >= 1 and a[0] != 0: # catch 1 - 9 word += " and" # Tens and ones position tens_position_value = 99 if (len(a) >= 2 and a[1] != 0): # Calculate the tens position value per the # first and second element in array # e.g. (8 * 10) + 1 = 81 tens_position_value = int(a[1]) * 10 + a[0] if tens_position_value <= 20: # If the tens position value is 20 or less # there's an entry in the hash.   • how to insert multiple characters into a string in C [closed]

    - by John Li
    I wish to insert some characters into a string in C: Example: char string[20] = "20120910T090000"; I want to make it something like "2012-09-10-T-0900-00" My code so far: void append(char subject[],char insert[], int pos) { char buf[100]; strncpy(buf, subject, pos); int len = strlen(buf); strcpy(buf+len, insert); len += strlen(insert); strcpy(buf+len, subject+pos); strcpy(subject, buf); } When I call this the first time I get: 2012-0910T090000 However when I call it a second time I get: 2012-0910T090000-10T090000 Any help is appreciated

  • Why do ICMP Redirct Host happen?

    I'm setting up a Debian box as a router for 4 subnets. For that I have defined 4 virtual interfaces on the NIC where the LAN is connected (eth1). eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.1.1 Bcast:10.1.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::960c:6dff:fe82:d98/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:6026521 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:35331299 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:673201397 (642.0 MiB) TX bytes:177276932 (169.0 MiB) Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth1:0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.2.1 Bcast:10.1.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth1:1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.3.1 Bcast:10.1.3.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth1:2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.4.1 Bcast:10.1.4.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 6c:f0:49:a4:47:38 inet addr:192.168.1.10 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::6ef0:49ff:fea4:4738/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:199809345 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:158362936 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:1 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:3656983762 (3.4 GiB) TX bytes:1715848473 (1.5 GiB) Interrupt:27 eth3 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:c8:72 inet addr:192.168.2.5 Bcast:192.168.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::960c:6dff:fe82:c872/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:110814 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:73386 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:16044901 (15.3 MiB) TX bytes:42125647 (40.1 MiB) Interrupt:20 Base address:0x2000 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:22351 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:22351 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:2625143 (2.5 MiB) TX bytes:2625143 (2.5 MiB) tun0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 inet addr:10.8.0.1 P-t-P:10.8.0.2 Mask:255.255.255.255 UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:41358924 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:23116350 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:3065505744 (2.8 GiB) TX bytes:1324358330 (1.2 GiB) I have two other computers connected to this network. From what I've read the Redirect Host response has something to do with the fact that the two hosts are in the same network and there being a shorter route (or so I understood). They are in fact in the same physical network, but why would there be a better route if they are not on the same subnet (they can't see each other)? What am I missing?   • Why do ICMP Redirect Host happen?

    I'm setting up a Debian box as a router for 4 subnets. For that I have defined 4 virtual interfaces on the NIC where the LAN is connected (eth1). eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.1.1 Bcast:10.1.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::960c:6dff:fe82:d98/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:6026521 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:35331299 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:673201397 (642.0 MiB) TX bytes:177276932 (169.0 MiB) Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth1:0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.2.1 Bcast:10.1.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth1:1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.3.1 Bcast:10.1.3.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth1:2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:0d:98 inet addr:10.1.4.1 Bcast:10.1.4.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 Interrupt:19 Base address:0x6000 eth2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 6c:f0:49:a4:47:38 inet addr:192.168.1.10 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::6ef0:49ff:fea4:4738/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:199809345 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:158362936 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:1 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:3656983762 (3.4 GiB) TX bytes:1715848473 (1.5 GiB) Interrupt:27 eth3 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 94:0c:6d:82:c8:72 inet addr:192.168.2.5 Bcast:192.168.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::960c:6dff:fe82:c872/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:110814 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:73386 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:16044901 (15.3 MiB) TX bytes:42125647 (40.1 MiB) Interrupt:20 Base address:0x2000 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:22351 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:22351 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:2625143 (2.5 MiB) TX bytes:2625143 (2.5 MiB) tun0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 inet addr:10.8.0.1 P-t-P:10.8.0.2 Mask:255.255.255.255 UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:41358924 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:23116350 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:3065505744 (2.8 GiB) TX bytes:1324358330 (1.2 GiB) I have two other computers connected to this network.   • Optimization of Function with Dictionary and Zip()

    Hello, I have the following function: def filetxt(): word_freq = {} lvl1 = [] lvl2 = [] total_t = 0 users = 0 text = [] for l in range(0,500): # Open File if os.path.exists("C:/Twitter/json/user_" + str(l) + ".json") == True: with open("C:/Twitter/json/user_" + str(l) + ".json", "r") as f: text_f = json.load(f) users = users + 1 for i in range(len(text_f)): text.append(text_f[str(i)]['text']) total_t = total_t + 1 else: pass # Filter occ = 0 import string for i in range(len(text)): s = text[i] # Sample string a = re.findall(r'(RT)',s) b = re.findall(r'(@)',s) occ = len(a) + len(b) + occ s = s.encode('utf-8') out = s.translate(string.maketrans("",""), string.punctuation) # Create Wordlist/Dictionary word_list = text[i].lower().split(None) for word in word_list: word_freq[word] = word_freq.get(word, 0) + 1 keys = word_freq.keys() numbo = range(1,len(keys)+1) WList = ', '.join(keys) NList = str(numbo).strip('[]') WList = WList.split(", ") NList = NList.split(", ") W2N = dict(zip(WList, NList)) for k in range (0,len(word_list)): word_list[k] = W2N[word_list[k]] for i in range (0,len(word_list)-1): lvl1.append(word_list[i]) lvl2.append(word_list[i+1]) I have used the profiler to find that it seems the greatest CPU time is spent on the zip() function and the join and split parts of the code, I'm looking to see if there is any way I have overlooked that I could potentially clean up the code to make it more optimized, since the greatest lag seems to be in how I am working with the dictionaries and the zip() function. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

  • Images won't load if they are of high size

    - by Fahim Parkar
    I have created web-application using JSF 2.0 and mysql. I am storing images in DB using MEDIUMBLOB. When I try to load image, I am able to see those images. However if the image size is big (1 MB or more), I can see half or 3/4th image on the browser. Any idea how to overcome this issue? Do I need to set any variable in JSF or MySQL? I know I should have saved the images over disk instead of DB, however this was client requirement. Client wanted to backup data and provide it to someone else and client don't want to backup DB and images also. Edit 1 Do I need to set any variables on mysql like query_cache. Edit 2 When I download same image and put below code it works perfectly. <h:graphicImage value="images/myImage4.png" width="50%" /> Edit 3 code is as below. <h:graphicImage value="DisplayImage?mainID=drawing" /> DisplayImage.java String imgLen = rs1.getString(1); int len = imgLen.length(); byte[] rb = new byte[len]; InputStream readImg = rs1.getBinaryStream(1); InputStream inputStream = readImg; int index = readImg.read(rb, 0, len); response.reset(); response.setHeader("Content-Length", String.valueOf(len)); response.setHeader("Content-disposition", "inline;filename=/file.png"); response.setContentType("image/png"); response.getOutputStream().write(rb, 0, len); response.getOutputStream().flush(); When I print len I get value as len=1548432

  • Linux - Only first virtual interface can ping external gateway

    - by husvar
    I created 3 virtual interfaces with different mac addresses all linked to the same physical interface. I see that they successfully arp for the gw and they can ping (the request is coming in the packet capture in wireshark). However the ping utility does not count the responses. • Python Expand Tabs Length Calculation

    - by Mithrill
    I'm confused by how the length of a string is calculated when expandtabs is used. I thought expandtabs replaces tabs with the appropriate number of spaces (with the default number of spaces per tab being 8). However, when I ran the commands using strings of varying lengths and varying numbers of tabs, the length calculation was different than I thought it would be (i.e., each tab didn't always result in the string length being increased by 8 for each instance of "/t"). Below is a detailed script output with comments explaining what I thought should be the result of the command executed above. Would someone please explain the how the length is calculated when expand tabs is used? IDLE 2.6.5 >>> s = '\t' >>> print len(s) 1 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was one (1 tab counted as a single space), as expected. >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 8 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was eight (1 tab counted as eight spaces). >>> s = '\t\t' >>> print len(s) 2 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was 2 (2 tabs, each counted as a single space). >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 16 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was 16 (2 tabs counted as 8 spaces each). >>> s = 'abc\tabc' >>> print len(s) 7 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was seven (6 characters and 1 tab counted as a single space). >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 11 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was NOT 14 (6 characters and one 8 space tabs). >>> s = 'abc\tabc\tabc' >>> print len(s) 11 >>> #the length of the string without expandtabs was 11 (9 characters and 2 tabs counted as a single space). >>> print len(s.expandtabs()) 19 >>> #the length of the string with expandtabs was NOT 25 (9 characters and two 8 space tabs). >>>

  • T-SQL String Functions: difference between using Left/Right and Substring and strange behaviour

    - by TheObserver
    I am using SQL Server 2008 & 2005 (Express). I'm trying to extract part of an alpha numeric string from a varchar field. RIGHT(str_field,3) yields null values but substring(str_field, len(str_field)-2, len(str_field)) gives the right value. left(str_field,7) gives the expected values. What gives? I would have thought that RIGHT(str_field,3) and substring(str_field, len(str_field)-2, len(str_field)) are equivalent expressions.

  • Why my shell program wont open the file got as argument in function "cat"

    I included the code below, sorry to bother you with so much code. Argument parsing is ok, i checked it out with watches. I've put some printfs to check out where the problem may be and it seems that it wont open the file cat receives as argument. i called from shell like "cat -b file" #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <string.h> #define TRUE 0 #define FALSE 1 void yes(int argc, char *argv[]); int cat(int argc, char *argv[]); //#include "cat.h" //#include "yes.h" //#include"tee.h" char buf[50],c[10], *p2,*p, *pch; int count; char *matrix[20]; void yes(int argc, char *argv[]) { int i; // if (argc >= 2 && *argv[1] == '-') // { //printf("ERROR!"); //} //if (argc == 1) // { while (1) if (puts("y") == EOF) { perror("yes"); exit(FALSE); } // } while (1) for (i = 1; i < argc; i++) if (fputs(argv[i], stdout) == EOF || putchar(i == argc - 1 ?   • ProgressBar isn't updating

    - by Nuru Salihu
    I have a progressbar that that is show progress returned by the backgroundworker do_dowork event like below . if (ftpSourceFilePath.Scheme == Uri.UriSchemeFtp) { FtpWebRequest objRequest = (FtpWebRequest)FtpWebRequest.Create(ftpSourceFilePath); NetworkCredential objCredential = new NetworkCredential(userName, password); objRequest.Credentials = objCredential; objRequest.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile; FtpWebResponse objResponse = (FtpWebResponse)objRequest.GetResponse(); StreamReader objReader = new StreamReader(objResponse.GetResponseStream()); int len = 0; int iProgressPercentage = 0; FileStream objFS = new FileStream((cd+"\\VolareUpdate.rar"), FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.Read); while ((len = objReader.BaseStream.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length)) > 0) { objFS.Write(buffer, 0, len); iRunningByteTotal += len; double dIndex = (double)(iRunningByteTotal); double dTotal = (double)buffer.Length; double dProgressPercentage = (dIndex / dTotal); iProgressPercentage = (int)(dProgressPercentage); if (iProgressPercentage > 100) { iProgressPercentage = 100; } bw.ReportProgress(iProgressPercentage); } } However, my progressbar does not update. While searching , i was told the UI thread is being blocked and then i thought may be passing the progress outside the loop will do the trick. then i change to this if (ftpSourceFilePath.Scheme == Uri.UriSchemeFtp) { FtpWebRequest objRequest = (FtpWebRequest)FtpWebRequest.Create(ftpSourceFilePath); NetworkCredential objCredential = new NetworkCredential(userName, password); objRequest.Credentials = objCredential; objRequest.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile; FtpWebResponse objResponse = (FtpWebResponse)objRequest.GetResponse(); StreamReader objReader = new StreamReader(objResponse.GetResponseStream()); int len = 0; int iProgressPercentage = 0; FileStream objFS = new FileStream((cd+"\\VolareUpdate.rar"), FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.Read); while ((len = objReader.BaseStream.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length)) > 0) { objFS.Write(buffer, 0, len); iRunningByteTotal += len; double dIndex = (double)(iRunningByteTotal); double dTotal = (double)buffer.Length; double dProgressPercentage = (dIndex / dTotal); iProgressPercentage = (int)(dProgressPercentage); if (iProgressPercentage > 100) { iProgressPercentage = 100; } // System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(2000); iProgressPercentage++; // SetText("F", true); } bw.ReportProgress(iProgressPercentage); progressBar.Refresh(); } However still didn't help. When i put break point in my workerprogresschanged event, it show the progressbar.value however does not update. I tried progressbar.update(0, i also tried sleeping the thread for a while in the loop still didn't help. Please any suggestion/help would be appreciated .

  • Iptables blocking mysql port 3306

    - by valmar
    I got a Tomcat server running a web application that must access a mysql server via Hibernate on the same machine. So, I added a rule for port 3306 to my iptables script but tomcat cannot connect to the mysql server for some reason. I need to reset all iptables rules - Then tomcat can connect to the mysql server again. All the other iptables rules work perfectly though. What's wrong? Here is my script: iptables -A INPUT -m conntrack --ctstate ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 24 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -s localhost --dport 8009 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d localhost --dport 8009 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -s localhost --dport 3306 -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d localhost --dport 3306 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 25 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 587 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 587 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 465 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 465 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 110 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 110 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 995 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 995 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 143 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 143 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 993 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 993 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -j DROP My /etc/hosts file: # nameserver config # IPv4 127.0.0.1 localhost 46.4.7.93 mydomain.com 46.4.7.93 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal 46.4.7.93 horst # IPv6 ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback fe00::0 ip6-localnet ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix ff02::1 ip6-allnodes ff02::2 ip6-allrouters ff02::3 ip6-allhosts Having a look into the iptables logs, gives me this: Jun 22 16:52:43 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 435.111780] denied-input IN=lo OUT= MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:08:00 SRC=127.0.0.1 DST=127.0.0.1 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=52432 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=56108 DPT=8009 WINDOW=32792 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 Jun 22 16:52:46 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 438.110555] denied-input IN=lo OUT= MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:08:00 SRC=127.0.0.1 DST=127.0.0.1 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=52433 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=56108 DPT=8009 WINDOW=32792 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 Jun 22 16:52:46 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 438.231954] denied-input IN=lo OUT= MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:08:00 SRC=127.0.0.1 DST=127.0.0.1 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=48020 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=56109 DPT=8009 WINDOW=32792 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 Jun 22 16:52:49 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 441.229778] denied-input IN=lo OUT= MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:08:00 SRC=127.0.0.1 DST=127.0.0.1 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=48021 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=56109 DPT=8009 WINDOW=32792 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 Jun 22 16:53:57 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 508.731839] denied-input IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=6c:62:6d:85:bf:0e:00:26:88:75:dc:01:08:00 SRC=78.92.97.67 DST=46.4.7.93 LEN=64 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=122 ID=23053 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=1672 DPT=445 WINDOW=65535 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 Jun 22 16:53:59 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 511.625038] denied-input IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=6c:62:6d:85:bf:0e:00:26:88:75:dc:01:08:00 SRC=78.92.97.67 DST=46.4.7.93 LEN=64 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=122 ID=23547 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=1672 DPT=445 WINDOW=65535 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 Jun 22 16:54:22 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 533.981995] denied-input IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=6c:62:6d:85:bf:0e:00:26:88:75:dc:01:08:00 SRC=27.254.39.16 DST=46.4.7.93 LEN=48 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=117 ID=6549 PROTO=TCP SPT=6005 DPT=33796 WINDOW=64240 RES=0x00 ACK SYN URGP=0 Jun 22 16:54:44 Ubuntu-1004-lucid-64-minimal kernel: [ 556.297038] denied-input IN=eth0 OUT= MAC=6c:62:6d:85:bf:0e:00:26:88:75:dc:01:08:00 SRC=94.78.93.41 DST=46.4.7.93 LEN=40 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=52 ID=7712 PROTO=TCP SPT=57598 DPT=445 WINDOW=512 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0

  • mixed declarations and codes

    - by gcc
    When I compile function with "gcc -o dene -Wall -ansi -pedantic-errors dene.c",gcc emits no error.(can you look a line which starts with char ....,in if loop,) static void remove_negation(char *s,char *s1) { char **cmainp=malloc(sizeof(char*)*1); int len=0;int d=0; int i=0; cmainp[0]=malloc(sizeof(char)*300); len=strlen(s); for(i=0;i<len;++i) { if(s[i]=='-') if(i==0 || s[i-1]==',') /*look*/ {char *p=malloc(sizeof(char)*3); /*look*/ ++i; p[0]=s[i]; p[1]='\0'; strcat(s1,","); strcat(s1,p); free(p); continue; } cmainp[0][d]=s[i]; ++d; } cmainp[0][d+1]='\0'; strcpy(cmainp[0],s); free(cmainp[0]); } But,when compile above function being reformatted with gcc,gcc emits that error "dene.c:10: error: ISO C90 forbids mixed declarations and code" static void remove_negation(char *s,char *s1) { char **cmainp=malloc(sizeof(char*)*1); /*look*/ cmainp[0]=malloc(sizeof(char)*300); /*look*/ int len=0;int d=0; int i=0; len=strlen(s); for(i=0;i<len;++i) { if(s[i]=='-') if(i==0 || s[i-1]==',') {char *p=malloc(sizeof(char)*3); ++i; p[0]=s[i]; p[1]='\0'; strcat(s1,","); strcat(s1,p); free(p); continue; } cmainp[0][d]=s[i]; ++d; } cmainp[0][d+1]='\0'; strcpy(cmainp[0],s); free(cmainp[0]); } And last one,gcc emits following errors dene.c:16: error: expected expression before ‘char’ dene.c:20: error: ‘p1’ undeclared (first use in this function) dene.c:20: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once dene.c:20: error: for each function it appears in.) static void remove_negation(char *s,char *s1) { char **cmainp=malloc(sizeof(char*)*1); /*look*/ cmainp[0]=malloc(sizeof(char)*300); /*look*/ int len=0;int d=0; int i=0; len=strlen(s); for(i=0;i<len;++i) { if(s[i]=='-') /*look*/ char *p=malloc(sizeof(char)*3); /*look*/ if(i==0 || s[i-1]==',') { ++i; p[0]=s[i]; p[1]='\0'; strcat(s1,","); strcat(s1,p); free(p); continue; } cmainp[0][d]=s[i]; ++d; } cmainp[0][d+1]='\0'; strcpy(cmainp[0],s); free(cmainp[0]); } question is why there are differences between them.

  • Learning Python and trying to get first two letters and last two letters of a string.

    - by Sergio Tapia
    Here's my code: # B. both_ends # Given a string s, return a string made of the first 2 # and the last 2 chars of the original string, # so 'spring' yields 'spng'. However, if the string length # is less than 2, return instead the empty string. def both_ends(s): if len(s) <= 2: return "" else: return s[0] + s[1] + s[len(s)-2] + s[len(s-1)] # +++your code here+++ return Unfortunately my program doesn't run. :( I'm sure I'm overlooking something since I'm a newbie with Python. Here's the error: > Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\google-python-exercises\google-python-exercises\basic\string1.py", line 120, in <module> main() File "C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\google-python-exercises\google-python-exercises\basic\string1.py", line 97, in main test(both_ends('spring'), 'spng') File "C:\Users\Sergio\Desktop\google-python-exercises\google-python-exercises\basic\string1.py", line 44, in both_ends return s[0] + s[1] + s[len(s)-2] + s[len(s-1)] TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for -: 'str' and 'int' Thanks for the help guys. :D

  • Python beginner, strange output problem

    - by Protean
    I'm having a weird problem with the following piece of code. from math import sqrt def Permute(array): result1 = [] result2 = [] if len(array) <= 1: return array for subarray in Permute(array[1:]): for i in range(len(array)): temp1 = subarray[:i]+array[0]+subarray[i:] temp2 = [0] for num in range(len(array)-1): temp2[0] += (sqrt(pow((temp1[num+1][1][0]-temp1[num][1][0]),2) + pow((temp1[num+1][1][1]-temp1[num][1][1]),2))) result1.append(temp1+temp2) return result1 a = [['A',[50,1]]] b = [['B',[1,1]]] c = [['C',[100,1]]] array = [a,b,c] result1 = Permute(array) for i in range(len(result1)): print (result1[i]) print (len(result1)) What it does is find all the permutations of the points abc and then returns them along with the sum of the distances between each ordered point. It does this; however, it also seems to report a strange additional value, 99. I figure that the 99 is coming from the computation of the distance between point a and c but I don't understand why it is appearing in the final output as it does.
