  • Split internal USB pinouts - is it possible?

    I've currently got a situation in my PC where I have 3 devices that connect to the motherboard via the onboard USB pinouts. The problem is, I only have two sets of USB pinouts on my motherboard. Is there any way of connecting two devices to one set of pinouts? Essentially, I'm looking for the functionality of a USB hub, but I'd like it to be inside the case, and provide pinouts rather than regular USB ports. Update: I don't need any more USB ports, I have devices that use the USB pinouts. I already have extra USB ports that aren't used, so adding an PCI USB card doesn't really help anything.

  • Solaris SPARC 10 32bit mode

    I'm looking for a definitive answer, does Solaris 10 running on a SPARC machine support booting into 32bit mode? I've found one site that states Solaris 8 was the last version that supported booting in a 32bit mode for SPARC. I've read multiple items that explain how to boot Solaris into 32bit mode, however they did not list the Solaris version. We've tried all the ways specified, but the system keeps booting into 64bit mode.

  • Komodo Edit - How to disable the 'Linter' for a language?

    I've been using Komodo Edit to work on a Django project. It works great except for one little annoyance: When I am editing Django template files, Komodo likes to put red squiggly lines underneath the first HTML tag that follows a Django tag, because it thinks it is an invalid HTML doc (although it isn't, it just has Django template tags/filters in it). Note that this red squiggly line is called a "Linter error" in the docs that I can find. Is there some way to turn off this red squiggly for only a specific type of language? It's nice to have when working on Python code but it's annoying to have a red squiggly on every single one of my Django templates.

  • Time Machine + Ubee Router?

    I can't for the life of me figure this out. I recently had TWC installed in my house, and wanted to disable the NAT and router functions of it. I have a Time Machine hooked up to it from LAN1 (on the Ubee) to the WAN port on the TM. The problems started occurring here. I figured the settings would be these: Ubee Configuration mode: Bridge DHCP: Off TM IPv4: 192.168.100.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router Address: 192.168.100.1 DNS Servers: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 Router Mode: DHCP and NAT But using those settings, my TM says "Double NAT", so I have to change it all around to the default settings of the Ubee using NAT. This leads me to believe bridge mode doesn't actually turn off NAT...

  • Error with TextMate 2 --shell-escape and gnuplot 10.8.2

    I have had TM 1.X since a long time ago, but a week ago I updated my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and installed TM2. The problem is that I write with LaTeX, and sometimes I use gnuplot for the graphs (I installed gnuplot with macports). But now it doesn't work because the --shell-escape doesn't work, this is the error message I get: Package pgfplots Error: Sorry, the gnuplot-result file '"untitled 2.pgf-plot.table"' could not be found. Maybe you need to enable the shell-escape feature? For pdflatex, this is ' pdflatex -shell-escape'. You can also invoke ' gnuplot .gnuplot' manually on the respective gnuplot file.. And then, looking around I discovered that it's not just gnuplot but everything which needs --shell-escape. Question What happened? How can I get TM have the correct rights so this works? It worked right in Snow Leopard with TM 1.5.

  • Java issues on OpenVZ Ubuntu 11.04 (.jar/.sh files)

    I've had a whole line of messes with java and .jar files. Each time I've tried something a little different, whether it be updating Java or just changing -Xmx1024 to -Xmx1024m to get rid of the heap.   • ATI Radeon HD 6870 Driver fails to install default-policy.sh does not support version

    I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 Beta, with everything updated completely. I'm using Ubuntu Classic, because Unity fails to run, supposedly because of my video card. The drivers for the Radeon HD 6870 series is apparently lacking, but I found a post stating the newest version has full support for Ubuntu Natty Narwhal. That post is slightly old, so i grabbed 11.3 for Ubuntu x86 off the ATI website.   • Extension GLX missing...on a desktop PC

    I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 on a new PC with an Nvidia GTX 560 graphics card, but after installing the Nvidia proprietary drivers (either -current or -current-updates), Unity won't start. When trying to start it manually I get the message "extension GLX missing". I've searched around and found results like this question which point out it's a problem with Nvidia Optimus laptops.   • Tiered Design With Analytical Widgets - Is This Code Smell?

    The idea I'm playing with right now is having a multi-leveled "tier" system of analytical objects which perform a certain computation on a common object and then create a new set of analytical objects depending on their outcome. The newly created analytical objects will then get their own turn to run and optionally create more analytical objects, and so on and so on. The point being that the child analytical objects will always execute after the objects that created them, which is relatively important. The whole apparatus will be called by a single thread so I'm not concerned with thread safety at the moment. As long as a certain base condition is met, I don't see this being an unstable design but I'm still a little bit queasy about it. Is this some serious code smell or should I go ahead and implement it this way? Is there a better way?   • Juggling with JDKs on Apple OS X

    I recently got a shiny new MacBook Pro to help me support our ADF Mobile customers. It is really a wonderful piece of hardware, although I am still adjusting to Apple's peculiar keyboard layout. Did you know, for example, that the « delete » key actually performs a « backspace »? But I disgress... As you may know, ADF Mobile development still requires JDeveloper 11gR2, which in turn runs on Java 6. On the other hand, JDeveloper 12c needs JDK 7. I wanted to install both versions, and wasn't sure how to do it.   If you remember, I explained in a previous blog entry how to install JDeveloper 11gR2 on Apple's OS X. The trick was to use the /usr/libexec/java_home command in order to invoke the proper JDK. In this case, I could have done the same thing; the two JDKs can coexist without any problems, since they install in completely different locations. But I wanted more than just installing JDeveloper. I wanted to be able to select my JDK when using the command line as well. On Windows, this is easy, since I keep all my JDKs in a central location. I simply have to move to the appropriate folder or type the folder name in the command I want to execute. Problem is, on OS X, the paths to the JDKs are... let's say convoluted.  Here is the one for Java 6. /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home The Java 7 path is not better, just different. /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_45.jdk/Contents/Home Intuitive, isn't it? Clearly, I needed something better... On OS X, the default command shell is bash. It is possible to configure the shell environment by creating a file named « .profile » in a user's home folder. Thus, I created such a file and put the following inside: export JAVA_7_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home -v1.7) export JAVA_6_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home -v1.6) export JAVA_HOME=$JAVA_7_HOME alias java6='export JAVA_HOME=$JAVA_6_HOME' alias java7='export JAVA_HOME=$JAVA_7_HOME'  The first two lines retrieve the current paths for Java 7 and Java 6 and store them in two environment variables. The third line marks Java 7 as the default. The last two lines create command aliases. Thus, when I type java6, the value for JAVA_HOME is set to JAVA_6_HOME, for example.  I now have an environment which works even better than the one I have on Windows, since I can change my active JDK on a whim.   • psql: FATAL: could not write init file

    as the title points out, I'm getting this error when trying to connect to a PostgreSql database from command line, using PostgreSQL. The client machine is an Ubuntu 11.10 x86_64 and the PostgreSQL libraries are from Version 9.1 Server is PostgreSql 8.3. This is the command that I executed: psql -U postgres -d my_database -h 192.168.0.161 -p 5432 -c "select * from xxyy" I get the same results when I use sudo or su postgres. The sad thing is that I can connect without problems using pgAdmin. Any hint?

  • Install mountain lion by using the .dmg from installer app

    I already have a Mountain Lion Installer app, downloaded from Apple Store. Now, I would like to install ML on another machine I own. I didn't want to download it again, so I copied the .app to the other machine and try to run. Unfortunately due to some error about mac unable to run the .app I wasn't able to install. Most tutorial suggest to make a bootable USB starting by the installer InstallESD.dmg, found in installer .app. I would like instead to run the .dmg directly. So I have three 'propedeutic' questions: can I just mount and run the .dmg without making a bootable drive ? I do have backup, a TimeCapsule one to be precise. In case of failure, can I just use the previous backup, and restore to Lion 10.7 ? from 'Apple Store point of view', would my machine be recognized as upgraded and elegible for future update ?

  • Windows 7 - svchost high cpu usage.

    Hey guys! I'm having a problem with windows 7 x64 i though it was slow and all then i saw that the cpu usage was always around 80% and started digging through google. there's two svchost consuming around 30% each and in the resources monitor there's a system interrupts consuming 45% all the time, i trid closing the aplications and makes no diference. so i tried some other things that i've found on gloogle like disable system update but didn't work. i'd love some help here. i don't know if it will help but here's my specs: Core 2 duo 4400 ATI radeon 4850 4gb ram DDR2 thanks anyway for your attention :) EDIT So i run the program and i got this info, did i get it right? EDIT As you asked here it is, did i get it right now? the other tcp/ip there's nothing. thanks again! :D EDIT I tried somthing here, i run msconfig and took the services that one of the svchost was using out of the startup and now my cpu is around 50%, but i still would like to make this better, i can't lose that much cpu power just because windows... thanks. EDIT yeah there's nothing i can do here, going to install xp for a while, it's really weird...

I’m trying to change the language to English, but even if I select all the slides and select a new element on the Language dialog box, the language of the text boxes remain the same. So I have to go slide by slide selecting the text boxes and then changing the language individually. Is there a better way to do this? The version of PowerPoint I have installed is 2002 SP3.

  • Login window language has changed after update on Snow Leopard

    After the latest update (beginning of Dec. 2012) on Snow Leopard my login window language has changed. My system is set to be in english but the login windows now is in french. Currently I am in France so I suspect that during the update something has revealed my location and installed something in the locale of the current location. It doesn't seem fair to me, I want to switch it back to english but I couldn't find a way to do it.

  • Centralize proxy settings for all the application on my workstation

    As a consultant, I used to work at different clients premises. It happens frequently that most of them has specific proxy settings, but not all the application I have installed on my laptop get settings from system preferences, for allowing me to change settings in one place. Some of them bypass system preferences completely, proposing their own mask for entering specific data such as username, host and password. I am looking for a convenient and not much intrusive way to share a common access point on which I could enter data, and maybe persist them. An 'automatic' switching would be ideal, for example based on some network identification, but there's no problem for me to enter data manually. I am not an IT expert, but to explain myself clearly, I am looking for a solution like .pac file is for browsers. Relevant OS I am using are MacOSX and Linux (Ubuntu).

  • Turn my machine in a hotspot/proxy

    My workplace does not provide a wifi... only wired connection... but my machine has a working wifi card... is there a way to "bridge" my wired connection, making my iphone connect to it and use it as if the own machine is being used? (the idea is to make my machine provide a wifi-connection and route it through my wired connection) Details: My machine OS is win 2012 server I have full admin rights to my machine There is a corporate-proxy PS: If more details needed pls ask!
