• Maven Cobertura: unit test failed but build success

    - by Pavel Drobushevich
    Hi all, I've configured cobertura code coverage in my pom: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>cobertura-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.4</version> <configuration> <instrumentation> <excludes> <exclude>**/*Exception.class</exclude> </excludes> </instrumentation> <formats> <format>xml</format> <format>html</format> </formats> </configuration> </plugin> And start test by following command: mvn clean cobertura:cobertura But if one of unit test fail Cobertura only log this information and doesn't mark build fail. Tests run: 287, Failures: 1, Errors: 1, Skipped: 0 Flushing results... Flushing results done Cobertura: Loaded information on 139 classes. Cobertura: Saved information on 139 classes. [ERROR] There are test failures. ................................. [INFO] BUILD SUCCESS How to configure Cobertura marks build failed in one of unit test fail? Thanks in advance.

  • How to inherit the current path when invoking Maven's exec-maven-plugin?

    - by wishihadabettername
    I have an <exec-maven-plugin> which calls an external command (in this case, svnversion). The command is in the path for the current user. However, when a separate shell is spawned by the plugin, the path is not initialized. I don't want to hardcode or define a variable for each external command (there would be too much to maintain, especially that there are both Windows and *nix users). My pom.xml contains the following: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.1</version> <executions> <execution>
<phase>process-resources</phase> <goals> <goal>exec</goal> </goals> <configuration> <executable>svnversion</executable> <arguments> <argument> >version.txt </argument> </arguments> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> Currently I get the following output: [INFO] [exec:exec {execution: svnversion-exec}] 'svnversion' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. [ERROR] BUILD ERROR: Result of cmd.exe /X /C "svnversion >version.txt" execution is: '1'. Thank you!

  • How to embed revision information using mercurial and maven (and svn)

    - by Zwei Steinen
    Our project had a nice hack (although I'm guessing there are better ways to do it) to embed revision information into the artifacts (jar etc.) when we used svn. Now we have migrated to mercurial, and we want to have a similar thing, but before I start working on a similar hack with mercurial, I wanted to know if there are better ways to do this. Thanks for your answers! <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId> <executions> <execution> <phase>process-classes</phase>
<goals> <goal>exec</goal> </goals> <configuration> <executable>svn</executable> <arguments> <argument>info</argument> <argument>../</argument> <argument>></argument> <argument>target/some-project/META-INF/svninfo.txt</argument> </arguments> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin>

  • Maven 3 plugin - How to programatically exclude a dependency and all its transitive dependencies?

    - by electrotype
    I'm developing a Maven 3 plugin and I want to exclude some dependencies, and their transitive dependencies, when a configuration is set to true in the plugin. I don't want to use <exclusions> in the POM itself, even in a profile. I want to exclude those dependencies programatically. In fact, what I want is to prevent the dependency jars to be included in the final war (I'm building a war), when a plugin configuration is set to true. I tried : @Mojo(requiresDependencyResolution=ResolutionScope.COMPILE, name="compileHook",defaultPhase=LifecyclePhase.COMPILE) public class compileHook extends AbstractMojo { @Override public void execute() throws MojoExecutionException, MojoFailureException { // ... Set<Artifact> artifacts = this.project.getArtifacts(); for(Artifact artifact : artifacts) { if("org.package.to.remove".equalsIgnoreCase(artifact.getGroupId())) { artifact.setScope("provided"); } } // ... } } Since this occures at the compile phase, it will indeed remove the artifacts with a group id "org.package.to.remove" from having their jars included in the war when packaged. But this doesn't remove the transitive artifacts those dependencies add! What is the best way to programatically remove some dependencies, and their transitive dependencies, from being included in a final .jar/.war?

  • Maven + AspectJ - all steps to configure it

    - by Alice
    I have a problem with applying aspects to my maven project. Probably I am missing something, so I've made a list of steps. Could you please check if it is correct? Let say in projectA is an aspect class and in projectB classes, which should be changed by aspects. Create maven project ProjectA with AspectJ class add Aspectj plugin and dependency Add ProjectA as a dependency to projectB pom.xml Add to projectB pom.xml plugin " <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>aspectj-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.4</version> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>compile</goal> <goal>test-compile</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> ${maven.compiler.source} <target>${maven.compiler.target}</target> <aspectLibraries> <aspectLibrary> <groupId>ProjectA</groupId> <artifactId>ProjectA</artifactId> </aspectLibrary> </aspectLibraries> </configuration> </plugin> Add aspectj dependency After all these steps my problem is, that during compilation I get: [WARNING] advice defined in AspectE has not been applied [Xlint:adviceDidNotMatch] And then when I run my program: Exception in thread "FeatureExcutionThread" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: AspectE

  • Sencha 2 : Sync models with hasMany associations in LocalStorage

    - by Alytrem
    After hours and hours trying to do this, I need your help. I have to models : Project and Task. A project hasMany tasks and a task belong to a project. Everyting works well if you don't use a store to save these models. I want to save both tasks and projects in two stores (TaskStore and ProjectStore). These stores use a LocalStorage proxy. I tried many things, and the most logical is : Ext.define('MyApp.model.Task', { extend: 'Ext.data.Model', config: { fields: [ { name: 'name', type: 'string' }, { dateFormat: 'd/m/Y g:i', name: 'start', type: 'date' }, { dateFormat: 'd/m/Y g:i', name: 'end', type: 'date' }, { name: 'status', type: 'string' } ], belongsTo: { model: 'MyApp.model.Project' } } }); Ext.define('MyApp.model.Project', { extend: 'Ext.data.Model', alias: 'model.Project', config: { hasMany: { associationKey: 'tasks', model: 'MyApp.model.Task', autoLoad: true, foreignKey: 'project_id', name: 'tasks', store: {storeId: "TaskStore"} }, fields: [ { name: 'name', type: 'string' }, { dateFormat: 'd/m/Y', name: 'start', type: 'date' }, { dateFormat: 'd/m/Y', name: 'end', type: 'date' } ] } }); This is my "main" : var project = Ext.create("MyApp.model.Project", {name: "mojo", start: "17/03/2011", end: "17/03/2012", status: "termine"}); var task = Ext.create("MyApp.model.Task", {name: "todo", start: "17/03/2011 10:00", end: "17/03/2012 19:00", status: "termine"}); project.tasks().add(task); Ext.getStore("ProjectStore").add(project); The project is added to the store, but task is not. Why ?!

  • How do I execute a program using Maven?

    - by Will
    I would like to have a Maven goal trigger the execution of a java class. I'm trying to migrate over a Makefile with the lines: neotest: mvn exec:java -Dexec.mainClass="org.dhappy.test.NeoTraverse" And I would like mvn neotest to produce what make neotest does currently. Neither the exec plugin documentation nor the Maven Ant tasks pages had any sort of straightforward example. Currently, I'm at: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.1</version> <executions><execution> <goals><goal>java</goal></goals> </execution></executions> <configuration> <mainClass>org.dhappy.test.NeoTraverse</mainClass> </configuration> </plugin> I don't know how to trigger the plugin from the command line, though.

  • Jersey 2 in GlassFish 4 - First Java EE 7 Implementation Now Integrated (TOTD #182)

    - by arungupta
    The JAX-RS 2.0 specification released their Early Draft 3 recently. One of my earlier blogs explained as the features were first introduced in the very first draft of the JAX-RS 2.0 specification. Last week was another milestone when the first Java EE 7 specification implementation was added to GlassFish 4 builds. Jakub blogged about Jersey 2 integration in GlassFish 4 builds. Most of the basic functionality is working but EJB, CDI, and Validation are still a TBD. Here is a simple Tip Of The Day (TOTD) sample to get you started with using that functionality. Create a Java EE 6-style Maven project mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeGroupId=org.codehaus.mojo.archetypes -DarchetypeArtifactId=webapp-javaee6 -DgroupId=example -DartifactId=jersey2-helloworld -DarchetypeVersion=1.5 -DinteractiveMode=false Note, this is still a Java EE 6 archetype, at least for now. Open the project in NetBeans IDE as it makes it much easier to edit/add the files. Add the following <respositories> <repositories> <repository>

<layout>default</layout> </repository></repositories> Add the following <dependency>s <dependency> <groupId>junit</groupId> <artifactId>junit</artifactId> <version>4.10</version> <scope>test</scope></dependency><dependency> <groupId>javax.ws.rs</groupId> <artifactId>javax.ws.rs-api</artifactId> <version>2.0-m09</version> <scope>test</scope></dependency><dependency> <groupId>org.glassfish.jersey.core</groupId> <artifactId>jersey-client</artifactId> <version>2.0-m05</version> <scope>test</scope></dependency> The complete list of Maven coordinates for Jersey2 are available here. An up-to-date status of Jersey 2 can always be obtained from here. Here is a simple resource class: @Path("movies")public class MoviesResource { @GET @Path("list") public List<Movie> getMovies() { List<Movie> movies = new ArrayList<Movie>(); movies.add(new Movie("Million Dollar Baby", "Hillary Swank")); movies.add(new Movie("Toy Story", "Buzz Light Year")); movies.add(new Movie("Hunger Games", "Jennifer Lawrence")); return movies; }} This resource publishes a list of movies and is accessible at "movies/list" path with HTTP GET. The project is using the standard JAX-RS APIs. Of course, you need the trivial "Movie" and the "Application" class as well. They are available in the downloadable project anyway. Build the project mvn package And deploy to GlassFish 4.0 promoted build 43 (download, unzip, and start as "bin/asadmin start-domain") as asadmin deploy --force=true target/jersey2-helloworld.war Add a simple test case by right-clicking on the MoviesResource class, select "Tools", "Create Tests", and take defaults. Replace the function "testGetMovies" to @Testpublic void testGetMovies() { System.out.println("getMovies"); Client client = ClientFactory.newClient(); List<Movie> movieList = client.target("http://localhost:8080/jersey2-helloworld/webresources/movies/list") .request() .get(new GenericType<List<Movie>>() {}); assertEquals(3, movieList.size());} This test uses the newly defined JAX-RS 2 client APIs to access the RESTful resource. Run the test by giving the command "mvn test" and see the output as ------------------------------------------------------- T E S T S-------------------------------------------------------Running example.MoviesResourceTestgetMoviesTests run: 1, Failures: 0, Errors: 0, Skipped: 0, Time elapsed: 0.561 secResults :Tests run: 1, Failures: 0, Errors: 0, Skipped: 0 GlassFish 4 contains Jersey 2 as the JAX-RS implementation. If you want to use Jersey 1.1 functionality, then Martin's blog provide more details on that. All JAX-RS 1.x functionality will be supported using standard APIs anyway. This workaround is only required if Jersey 1.x functionality needs to be accessed. The complete source code explained in this project can be downloaded from here. Here are some pointers to follow JAX-RS 2 Specification Early Draft 3 Latest status on specification (jax-rs-spec.java.net) Latest JAX-RS 2.0 Javadocs Latest status on Jersey (Reference Implementation of JAX-RS 2 - jersey.java.net) Latest Jersey API Javadocs Latest GlassFish 4.0 Promoted Build Follow @gf_jersey Provide feedback on Jersey 2 to [email protected] and JAX-RS specification to [email protected].

  • How do I configure the hbm2java maven2 plugin to generate POJOs for all mapping files

    - by naor
    Hi. I am trying to migrate my ant build to maven2. in my build.xml I invoke the hbm2java in the following way: <hibernatetool destdir="/src/generated/"> <configuration configurationfile="${env.ITP_HOME}/core/xml/hibernate/hibernate.cfg.xml"> <fileset dir="/xml/hibernate"> <include name="*.hbm.xml"/> </fileset> </configuration> <hbm2java/> </hibernatetool> my hibernate.cfg.xml is: <hibernate-configuration> <session-factory> <property name="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle10gDialect</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class">oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</property> </session-factory> in my maven2 POM file I have: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate3-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.2</version> <executions> <execution>
<phase>generate-sources</phase> <goals> <goal>hbm2java</goal> </goals> <configuration> <components> <component>
<implementation>configuration</implementation> <outputDirectory>/src/main/java</outputDirectory> </component> </components> <componentProperties> <jdk5>true</jdk5> <configurationfile>/src/main/resources/hibernate.cfg.xml</configurationfile> </componentProperties> </configuration> </execution> but when executing mvn hibernate3:hbm2java i see no files get generated unless they are all listed in hibernate.cfg.xml. Is there a way to specify a fileset in the maven configuration similar to the ant task? thanks, naor

  • WSIT, Maven, and wsimport -- Can They Work Together?

    - by rtperson
    Hi all, I'm working on a small-ish multi-module project in Maven. We've separated the UI from the database layer using Web Services, and thanks to the jaxws-maven-plugin, the creation of the WSDL and WS client are more or less handled for us. (The plugin is essentially a wrapper around wsgen and wsimport.) So far so good. The problem comes when I try to layer WSIT security into the picture. NetBeans allows me to generate the security metadata easily, but wsimport seems completely incapable of dealing with anything beyond a Basic-auth level of security. Here's our current, insecure way of calling wsimport during a Maven build: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>jaxws-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.10</version> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>wsimport</goal> </goals> <configuration> <wsdlUrls> <wsdlUrl>${basedir}/../WebService/target/jaxws/wsgen/wsdl/WebService.wsdl</wsdlUrl> </wsdlUrls> <packageName>com.yourcompany.appname.ws.client</packageName> <sourceDestDir>${basedir}/src/main/java</sourceDestDir> <destDir>${basedir}/target/jaxws</destDir> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> I have tried playing around with xauthFile, xadditionalHeaders, passing javax.xml.ws.security.auth.username and password through args. I have also tried using wsimport from the command line to point to the Tomcat-generated WSDL, which has the additional security info. Nothing, however, seems to change the composition of the wsimport-generated files at all. So I guess my question here is, to get a WSIT-compliant client, am I stuck abandoning Maven and the jaxws plugin altogether? Is there a way to get a WSIT client to auto-generate? Or will I need to generate the client by hand? Let me know if you need any additional info beyond what I've written here. I'm deploying to Tomcat, although that doesn't seem to be an issue, as Maven seems happy to pull Metro into the deployed WAR file. Thanks in advance!

  • is appassembler plugin broken for java service wrapper on windows 64bit?

    - by Paul McKenzie
    Hi I'm developing on 32bit windows and am using appassembler to create a java service wrapper assembly, and it works ok. But I need to also create a 64bit assembly for deployment to a dev server. In the following config I have substituted the 32bit platform with the 64bit, see the <includes> section. But it no longer places the wrapper jar and dll in the lib folder. If I omit the includes completely, I get linux, solaris, Mac OSX and Win32 libraries, but no win64. Anyone got this working? <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>appassembler-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.1-SNAPSHOT</version> <configuration> <target>${project.build.directory}/appassembler</target> <repositoryLayout>flat</repositoryLayout> <defaultJvmSettings> <initialMemorySize>256M</initialMemorySize> <maxMemorySize>1024M</maxMemorySize> </defaultJvmSettings> <daemons> <daemon>
<mainClass>com.foo.AppMain</mainClass> <platforms> <platform>jsw</platform> </platforms> <generatorConfigurations> <generatorConfiguration>
<includes> <include>windows-x86-64</include> </includes> <configuration> <property>
<value>../../repo</value> </property> </configuration> </generatorConfiguration> </generatorConfigurations> </daemon> </daemons> </configuration> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>generate-daemons</goal> <goal>create-repository</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> </plugin>

  • How to get hibernate3-maven-plugin hbm2ddl to find JDBC driver?

    - by HDave
    I have a Java project I am building with Maven. I am now trying to get the hibernate3-maven-plugin to run the hbm2ddl tool to generate a schema.sql file I can use to create the database schema from my annotated domain classes. This is a JPA application that uses Hibernate as the provider. In my persistence.xml file I call out the mysql driver: <property name="hibernate.dialect" value="org.hibernate.dialect.MySQLDialect"/> <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class" value="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"/> When I run Maven, I see it processing all my classes, but when it goes to output the schema, I get the following error: ERROR org.hibernate.connection.DriverManagerConnectionProvider - JDBC Driver class not found: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver I have the MySQL driver as a dependency of this module. However it seems like the hbm2ddl tool cannot find it. I would have guessed that the Maven plugin would have known to search the local Maven file repository for this driver. What gives? The relevant part of my pom.xml is this: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate3-maven-plugin</artifactId> <executions> <execution> <phase>process-classes</phase> <goals> <goal>hbm2ddl</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <components> <component>
<implementation>jpaconfiguration</implementation> </component> </components> <componentProperties> <persistenceunit>my-unit</persistenceunit> </componentProperties> </configuration> </plugin>

  • hibernate3-maven-plugin: entiries in different maven projects, hbm2ddl fails

    I'm trying to put an entity in a different maven project. In the current project I have: @Entity public class User { ... private FacebookUser facebookUser; ... public FacebookUser getFacebookUser() { return facebookUser; } ... public void setFacebookUser(FacebookUser facebookUser) { this.facebookUser = facebookUser; } Then FacebookUser (in a different maven project, that's a dependency of a current project) is defined as: @Entity public class FacebookUser { ... @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) public Long getId() { return id; } Here is my maven hibernate3-maven-plugin configuration: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate3-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.2</version> <executions> <execution> <phase>process-classes</phase> <goals> <goal>hbm2ddl</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <components> <component>
<implementation>jpaconfiguration</implementation> </component> </components> <componentProperties> <ejb3>false</ejb3> <persistenceunit>Default</persistenceunit> <outputfilename>schema.ddl</outputfilename> <drop>false</drop> <create>true</create> <export>false</export> <format>true</format> </componentProperties> </configuration> </plugin> Here is the error I'm getting: org.hibernate.MappingException: Could not determine type for: com.xxx.facebook.model.FacebookUser, at table: user, for columns: [org.hibernate.mapping.Column(facebook_user)] I know that FacebookUser is on the classpath because if I make facebook user transient, project compiles fine: @Transient public FacebookUser getFacebookUser() { return facebookUser; }

  • Getting Started with Maven + Jaxb project + IntellijIdea

    - by Em Ae
    I am complete new to IntellijIdea and i am looking for some step-by-step process to set up a basic project. My project depends on Maven + Jaxb classes so i need a Maven project so that when i compile this project, the JAXB Objects are generated by Maven plugins. Now i started like this I created a blank project say MaJa project Added Maven Module to it Added following settings in POM.XML <project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd"> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion> <groupId>MaJa</groupId> <artifactId>MaJa</artifactId> <version>1.0</version> <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>javax.xml.bind</groupId> <artifactId>jaxb-api</artifactId> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>com.sun.xml.bind</groupId> <artifactId>jaxb-impl</artifactId> <version>2.1</version> </dependency> </dependencies> <build> <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>jaxb2-maven-plugin</artifactId> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>xjc</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <schemaDirectory>${basedir}/src/main/resource/api/MaJa</schemaDirectory> <packageName>com.rimt.shopping.api.web.ws.v1.model</packageName> <outputDirectory>${build.directory}</outputDirectory> </configuration> </plugin> </plugins> </build> </project> First of all, is it right settings ? I tried clicking on Make/Compile 'MaJa' from Project Right Click Menu and it didn't do anything. I will be looking forward to yoru replies.

  • How to configure path to mappings to be used in hibernate.cfg.xml with maven (hbm2cfgxml)

    - by user342358
    Hi, can any one tell me how to force maven to precede mapping .hbm.xml files in the automatically generated hibernate.cfg.xml file with package path? My general idea is, I'd like to use hibernate-tools via maven to generate the persistence layer for my application. So, I need the hibernate.cfg.xml, then all my_table_names.hbm.xml and at the end the POJO's generated. Yet, the hbm2java goal won't work as I put *.hbm.xml files into the src/main/resources/package/path/ folder but hbm2cfgxml specifies the mapping files only by table name, i.e.: <mapping resource="MyTableName.hbm.xml" /> So the big question is: how can I configure hbm2cfgxml so that hibernate.cfg.xml looks like below: <mapping resource="package/path/MyTableName.hbm.xml" /> My pom.xml looks like this at the moment: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate3-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.2</version> <executions> <execution>
<phase>generate-sources</phase> <goals> <goal>hbm2cfgxml</goal> </goals> <inherited>false</inherited> <configuration> <components> <component>
<implemetation>jdbcconfiguration</implementation> <outputDirectory>src/main/resources/</outputDirectory> </component> </components> <componentProperties> <packagename>package.path</packageName> <configurationFile>src/main/resources/hibernate.cfg.xml</configurationFile> </componentProperties> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> And then the second question: is there a way to tell maven to copy resources to the target folder before executing hbm2java? At the moment I'm using mvn clean resources:resources generate-sources for that, but there must be a better way. Thanks for any help.

  • build-helper-maven-plugin add-source does not working when trying to add linked resources

    - by Julian
    I am new to maven and hit a problem that looks easy in the first place but I already kept me busy for a whole day about and no way to get it working. First as part of running eclipse:eclipse plugin I create a linked folder like below: <linkedResources> <linkedResource>
<type>2</type> <location>${PARENT-2-PROJECT_LOC}/some_other_project/properties</location> </linkedResource> <linkedResource>
<type>1</type> <location>${PARENT-2-PROJECT_LOC}/some_other_project/properties/messages.properties</location> </linkedResource> And then I am adding that folder as a source folder like below: <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>build-helper-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.7</version> <executions> <execution>
<phase>generate-sources</phase> <goals> <goal>add-source</goal> </goals> <configuration> <sources> properties some_real_folder </sources> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin> However when I am looking at the generated .classpath in eclipse the “some_real_folder” is there but the “properties” is not. It looks like by default the build-helper-maven-plugin will check if the folder is there and if it is not it won’t add it. I am using maven 3.0.4 outside eclipse to run the build and I can see in the maven logs something like this: [INFO] Source directory: <some path>\properties added. This is my project structure: project1 \-- properties (this is the real folder) project2 \-- some_real_folder \-- properties (this is the link resource pointing to the project1/properties folder) All I need is to have both "some_real_folder" and the linked resource "properties" added to the .classpath of the project2

  • Java EE 6 and NoSQL/MongoDB on GlassFish using JPA and EclipseLink 2.4 (TOTD #175)

    - by arungupta
    TOTD #166 explained how to use MongoDB in your Java EE 6 applications. The code in that tip used the APIs exposed by the MongoDB Java driver and so requires you to learn a new API. However if you are building Java EE 6 applications then you are already familiar with Java Persistence API (JPA). Eclipse Link 2.4, scheduled to release as part of Eclipse Juno, provides support for NoSQL databases by mapping a JPA entity to a document. Their wiki provides complete explanation of how the mapping is done. This Tip Of The Day (TOTD) will show how you can leverage that support in your Java EE 6 applications deployed on GlassFish 3.1.2. Before we dig into the code, here are the key concepts ... A POJO is mapped to a NoSQL data source using @NoSQL or <no-sql> element in "persistence.xml". A subset of JPQL and Criteria query are supported, based upon the underlying data store Connection properties are defined in "persistence.xml" Now, lets lets take a look at the code ... Download the latest EclipseLink 2.4 Nightly Bundle. There is a Installer, Source, and Bundle - make sure to download the Bundle link (20120410) and unzip. Download GlassFish 3.1.2 zip and unzip. • Asp.net mvc, view with multiple updatable parts - how?

    - by DerDres
    I have started doing asp.net mvc programming and like it more everyday. Most of the examples I have seen use separate views for viewing and editing details of a specific entity. E.g. - table of music albums linking to separate 'detail' and 'update' views [Action] | Title | Artist detail, update | Uuuh Baby | Barry White detail, update | Mr Mojo | Barry White With mvc how can I achieve a design where the R and the U (CRUD) are represented in a single view, and furthermore where the user can edit separate parts of the view, thus limiting the amount of data the user can edit before saving? Example mockup - editing album detials: I have achieved such a design with ajax calls, but Im curious how to do this without ajax. Parts of my own take on this can be seen below. I use a flag (enum EditCode) indicating which part of the view, if any, that has to render a form. Is such a design in accordance with the framework, could it be done more elegantly? AlbumController public class AlbumController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { var albumDetails = from ManageVM in state.AlbumState.ToList() select ManageVM.Value.Detail; return View(albumDetails); } public ActionResult Manage(int albumId, EditCode editCode) { (state.AlbumState[albumId] as ManageVM).EditCode = (EditCode)editCode; ViewData["albumId"] = albumId; return View(state.AlbumState[albumId]); } [HttpGet] public ActionResult Edit(int albumId, EditCode editCode) { return RedirectToAction("Manage", new { albumId = albumId, editCode = editCode }); } // edit album details [HttpPost] public ActionResult EditDetail(int albumId, Detail details) { (state.AlbumState[albumId] as ManageVM).Detail = details; return RedirectToAction("Manage", new { albumId = albumId, editCode = EditCode.NoEdit });// zero being standard } // edit album thought [HttpPost] public ActionResult EditThoughts(int albumId, List<Thought> thoughts) { (state.AlbumState[albumId] as ManageVM).Thoughts = thoughts; return RedirectToAction("Manage", new { albumId = albumId, editCode = EditCode.NoEdit });// zero being standard } Flag - EditCode public enum EditCode { NoEdit, Details, Genres, Thoughts } Mangae view <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<MvcApplication1.Controllers.ManageVM>" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="TitleContent" runat="server"> Manage </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server">
Manage
<% if(Model.EditCode == MvcApplication1.Controllers.EditCode.Details) {%> <% Html.RenderPartial("_EditDetails", Model.Detail); %> <% }else{%> <% Html.RenderPartial("_ShowDetails", Model.Detail); %> <% } %>
<% if(Model.EditCode == MvcApplication1.Controllers.EditCode.Thoughts) {%> <% Html.RenderPartial("_EditThoughts", Model.Thoughts); %> <% }else{%> <% Html.RenderPartial("_ShowThoughts", Model.Thoughts); %> <% } %>

  • Process spawned by exec-maven-plugin blocks the maven process

    - by Arnab Biswas
    I am trying to execute the following scenario using maven : pre-integration-phase : Start a java based application using a main class (using exec-maven-plugin) integration-phase : Run the integration test cases (using maven-failsafe-plugin) post-integration-phase: Stop the application gracefully (using exec-maven-plugin) Here is pom.xml snip: <plugins> <plugin> <groupId>org.codehaus.mojo</groupId> <artifactId>exec-maven-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.2.1</version> <executions> <execution>
<phase>pre-integration-test</phase> <goals> <goal>exec</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <executable>java</executable> <arguments> <argument>-DMY_APP_HOME=/usr/home/target/local</argument> <argument>-Djava.library.path=/usr/home/other/lib</argument> <argument>-classpath</argument> <classpath/> <argument>com.foo.MyApp</argument> </arguments> </configuration> </plugin> <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-failsafe-plugin</artifactId> <version>2.12</version> <executions> <execution> <goals> <goal>integration-test</goal> <goal>verify</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> <configuration> <forkMode>always</forkMode> </configuration> </plugin> </plugins> If I execute mvn post-integration-test, my application is getting started as a child process of the maven process, but the application process is blocking the maven process from executing the integration tests which comes in the next phase. Later I found that there is a bug (or missing functionality?) in maven exec plugin, because of which the application process blocks the maven process. To address this issue, I have encapsulated the invocation of MyApp.java in a shell script and then appended “/dev/null 2&1 &” to spawn a separate background process. Here is the snip (this is just a snip and not the actual one) from runTest.sh: java - DMY_APP_HOME =$2 com.foo.MyApp > /dev/null 2>&1 & Although this solves my issue, is there any other way to do it? Am I missing any argument for exec-maven-plugin?

  • Trying to run Selenium tests using Hudson - "Error: no display specified"

    I'm trying to get Selenium tests to work when they are executed by Hudson, but I have not been successful so far. Hudson is running on Ubuntu, and Selenium is unable to open display.
