  After deploying a WCF RESTful service that i created using the REST started kit, i got several errors that i managed to solve following this post: http://www.edoverip.com/edoverip/index.php/2009/01/30/running-wcf-on-godaddy Now i'm stuck with this error: IIS specified authentication schemes 'Basic, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. Valid authentication schemes are Digest, Negotiate, NTLM, Basic, or Anonymous. Change the IIS settings so that only a single authentication scheme is used I saw that others got to this point without a solution. GoDaddy support dont know nothing. Is it possible at all? Are there any web hosting services that you know that support that?

• How does one capture H.323 voice traffic on a VOIP network?

  What I am trying to do is capture the WAV data of a phone conversation on a VOIP network using SharpPCap/PCap.Net. We are using the H.323 recommendation and my understanding is that voice data is located in the RTP packets. However, there is no way to heuristically determine if a UDP packet is a RTP packet, so we have to do more work before we can capture the data. The H.323 recommendation apparently uses a lot of traffic on specific TCP ports to negotiate the call before the WAV data is sent via RTP. However, I am having very little luck determining what data is actually sent on those TCP ports, when it is sent, what the packets look like, how to handle it, etc. If anyone has any information on how to go about this I'd really appreciate it. My Google-Fu seems to be failing me on this one.

So whenever a web service call is made to IIS web services, there is a double handshake taking place: Client Request #1 GetEmployeeList Server Response #1 <- 401 HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate WWW-Authenticate: NTLM Client Request #2 REQUEST Header... Server Response #2 <- 200 Data Received Lately, however, Server Response #1 will sometimes (a good 20 percent of the calls) take a massive amount of time (like 25 to 30 seconds). How do I debug this problem? Is this a Active Directory problem or a Domain Controller problem?

You buy technology solutions like Oracle Applications but you're a business person--trying to close the quarter, get performance reviews processed, negotiate a new sourcing contract, etc. When "standards" come up in presentations and discussions do you: - Nod your head politely - Tune out and check your smart phone - Turn to your IT counterpart and say "Bob's all over this standards thing, right Bob?" Here's why standards matter. My wife wants new external doors downstairs, ones that would get more light into the rooms. Am I OK with that? "Uhh, sure...it's a little dark in the kitchen." - 24 hours ago - wife calls to tell me that she's going to the hardware store and may look at doors - 20 hours ago - wife pulls into driveway, informs me that two doors are in the back of her station wagon, ready for me to carry - 19 hours ago - I re-discovered the fact that it's not fun to carry a solid wood door by myself - 5 hours ago - Local handyman, who was at our house anyway, tells me that the doors we bought will likely cost 2-3x the material cost in installation time and labor...the doors are standard but our doorways aren't We could have done more research. I could be more handy. Sure. But the fact is, my 1951 house wasn't built with me in mind. They built what worked and called it a day. The same holds true with a lot of business applications. They were designed and architected for one-time use with one use-case in mind. Today's business climate is different.   I have a very simple MVC 4 application I'm trying to deploy to a Windows 2012 server. Inconsistently, when navigating to the root of the web application (http://localhost/app), it returns a 403.14-Forbidden: Detailed Error Information: Module: DirectoryListingModule Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler Handler: StaticFile Error Code: 0x00000000 Requested URL: http://localhost:80/test1/ Physical Path: c:\apps\test1\ Logon Method: Negotiate The web application is: Is a very vanilla VS2012 MVC4 Intranet template -- with only a tweak to a label to prove things were working. runs in an Integrated v4.0 application pool setup to use Windows authentication application pool has a custom AD Identity assigned (so it can gain access to a SQL server) application pool identity has read permissions in the c:\apps\test1 folder in which it is running It's an MVC4 application, targeting .NET 4.0 currently -There's no default document in an MVC4 application (like a default.aspx), as there shouldn't need to be one. I don't want to enable directory listings (as that's not the real error). Installed: Roles / Web Server (IIS) / Appliation Development / (.NET 4.5 Extensibility, Application Initialization, ASP.NET 4.5, ISAP Extensions, ISAPI Filters, WebSocket Protocol) Works locally on my machine in IISExpress on Windows 8 Has configured in web.config: <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true" /> is set to precompiled during publish When I change the precompiled option to false, the web application does not fail (in my testing at least, it seems to work consistently). The reason I say it's inconsistent is that I've seen it work, then I've published, and the error returns. I can't find a pattern to the issue (and right now, I haven't been able to get it work again, at all). The 403 is returned from a local or remote web browser. I've had trouble finding a solution that isn't intended for older versions of Windows (like suggestions to reinstall ASP.NET which won't work on Windows 2012). I really don't know what else to try.

  I'm setting up an SSO for Active Directory users through a website that runs on an Apache (Apache2 on SLES 11.1), and when testing with Firefox it all works fine. But when I try to open the website in Internet Explorer 8 (Windows 7), all I get is "Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. • Dual Monitor support rdp 7 to win 7 on esxi

  I am trying to RDP from a Windows 7 Professional dual monitor physical machine to a Windows 7 Professional VM hosted on esxi 4.0. I can get the spanning option to work to both monitors, but I have tried 3 different methods of connecting but have not been able to use true multiple monitors. At different times, I tried checking the "use all monitors" option, command line mstsc /multimon and added the line use multimon:i:1 to the .rdp file. None of these worked. Any ideas? The physical machine can connect to other Windows 7 physical machines with true multi monitor access. I also have the same issue when going from a 32bit RC1 machine to a Windows 7 Professional x64, but not when going in the reverse direction. • Windows 2008 R2 remote desktop - Double Login

  After an Active Directory fail RDP connection started to ask for credentials twice (once on local RDP program, second time on remote's logon screen) I already looked at Windows 2008 R2 RDS - Double Login Solution provided there doesn't work for me. The server is alone, without AD/DNS services, RDP service isn't installed I tried every security settings on RDP-Tcp (RDP, Negotiate, SLL) Logon option is set to "Use credentials from the client" Both windows client and server use RDP 7.1 fPromptForPassword regitries are set to 0 Local Computer Policy\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Security\Always prompt for password upon connection is set to "Disabled" Why i am sure the problem comes from the server and not the client ? This problem affected a 3rd RDP program on Android too (it was directly showing "preparing desktop previously, on both MS RDP and the 3rd program) No bakcup are available (Else the Active Directory wouldn't be a fail, but just a lose of time) I am wondering if a rule linked to RDP got changed after the AD install+unistall, but i'm unable to find where. While this is not a critic problem, this is very annoying. I don't know if more information are needed, if it's the case and if you are patient enough, please tell me what is missing and i'll edit this post to add the missing informations.

• Why is squid breaking kerberos/NTLM auth?

  I'm using squid 2.6.22 (Centos 5 Default) as a proxy. Squid seems to break the authentication process for web pages when they require NTLM or Kerberos Auth. I tested with sharepoint 2007 and tried all 3 authentication methods (NTLM, Kerberos, Basic). Accessing the site without squid works in all cases. When I access the same page with squid, then only basic-auth works. Using IE or Firefox desn't make any difference. Squid itself can be used by anybody (no auth_param configured). Its a bit tricky to find solutions online, since most of the topics whirl around auth_param for authenticating users to squid rather than authenticating users to a webpage behind squid. Could anyone help? Edit: Sorry, but my first test was totally screwed up. I tested against the wrong webservers (Memo to myself: always check assumptions before testing). Now I realized that the problem scenario is completely different. Kerberos work for IE Kerberos works for Firefox (after changing "network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris" in about:config) NTLM works for IE NTLM does NOT work in Firefox (even after changing "network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris" in about:config) By the way: The feature that provides NTLM-passthrough in squid is called "connection pinning" and the HTTP header "Proxy-support: Session-based-authentication""

• Why is the link between my switch and my router always negotiating half-duplex mode?

  I have a Cisco 2950 switch which has one of its ports connected to an Internet router provided by my ISP; I have no access to the router configuration, but I manage the switch. If I leave all switch ports with their default setup (auto-negotiation of speed and duplex mode), this link always connects at 100 MBit/s, but in half-duplex mode. I've tried replacing the cable, and also moving the link to another switch port: the result is always the same. A different device connected to the same port (or to any switch port, really) shows no problem at all. It could be guesed that someone configured the router to only connect in half-duplex mode... BUT, here's the catch: if I manually force the switch port to full-duplex mode (duplex full in the interface configuration), the link goes up, stays up and is completely stable. So: The connection is not forced to half-duplex mode by the router, otherwise it would not connect at all if I force the switch end to full-duplex. There is no actual link problem, otherwise the full-duplex connection would not go up or would at least show some errors. But if I leave the port free to auto-negotiate, it always connects in half-duplex mode. Why?

• fedora apache/nginx pylons

  I'm trying to wrap my head around Pylons and how it works. So far... it's been confusing... I'm using EC2 with Fedora8. Everything is working so far (i.e. I have Pylons/python et al installed and after creating a test app and running paster serve I can access the default page via my domain name). As the Pylons docs explain and as I understand, the built in paster serve server is not suited for a production environment. What I am not clear on, then, is what to do next... It seems like nginx is a good option, but I am more familiar with Apache (like .0002%). I plan on having virtualhosts (which nginx says can accomodate). However, I am totally unclear on how the big picture is supposed to work. In order to serve an app, does paster serve need to be running? Does then nginx/apache basically just act as a proxy to shuttle connections to the paster server? How do I start it so it doesn't terminate after closing the ssh connection? If running multiple apps, what do I set as the host/port in development.ini to differentiate the apps? Or if this is not the right way, how do I differentiate beween apps? I am more familiar with MySQL, but willing to negotiate PostgreSQL if it's a better fit. Is it? Is virtualenv a prerequisite to running multiple apps on the same machine? • What speed are Wi-Fi management and control frames sent at?

  There are a bunch of different 802.11 Wi-Fi standards, e.g. 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n etc. that all support different speeds. Wi-Fi frames are generally categorised as one of the following: Data frames - carry the actual application data Control frames - coordinate when its safe to send/reduce collisions Management frames - handle connection discovery/setup/tear down (e.g. AP discovery, association, disassociation) My question is about whether all these frames, and specifically management frames, are transmitted at the fastest supported speed available, or whether certain classes of frames are transmitted at some lowest common denominator speed. I have noticed that when I put an 802.11b/g only device into monitor mode and capture traffic over the air, I still see management frames (e.g. association/disassociation) being transmitted between my phone and AP which are both 802.11n, even though 802.11n has a higher transfer rate. So I am imagining one of two possibilities: My 802.11n phone/AP had to negotiate a slower speed for some reason and that's why I can see their frames on my 802.11b/g monitoring device. Management frames (and perhaps control frames also?) are sent at a lower speed, and it's only data frames that are transmitted faster with newer 802.11 standards. The reason I would like to know which one of these two possibilities (or perhaps a third possibility) is the case is that I want to capture management frames, and need to know whether using an 802.11b/g card is going to lead to me missing some frames sent at higher speeds than the monitoring card can observe. If management frames are indeed sent at a slower rate, then it's all good. If I just happen to be seeing the management frames because my phone/AP have negotiated a slower rate though, then I need to reconsider what card I use for packet capture.

• How to fix Apache from crashing with PHP+Curl on an SSH request?

  My Apache process segfaults whenever I call curl_exec() from PHP with an "https://" URL. If I use http instead of https as the URL transport, it works perfectly, so I know curl and the other curl options are correct. I can use curl from the command-line on that server using the https version of the URL and it works perfectly, so I know the remote server is responding correctly, the cert isn't expired, etc.. • NIC are not advertising Correct Speeds

  I have an IBM x336 that is not advertising the proper LINK speeds. One interface is the other is not. I've tried to Force it to 1000/Full but then it just shows link down. I have confirmed the switch is set to auto negotiate like my switches. I have also changed out my Ethernet Cables. I'm at a loss where to look further. I have verified that it will connect at 1G on a different swtich. This also has happened on two different servers on the same switch. • NTLM, Kerberos and F5 switch issues

  I'm supporting an IIS based application that is scaled out into web and application servers. Both web and applications run behind IIS. The application is NTLM capable when IIS is configured to authenticate via Kerberos. It's been working so far without a glitch. Now, I'm trying to bring in 2 F5 switches, 1 in front of the web and another in front of the application servers. 2 F5 instances (say ips 185 & 186) are sitting on a LINUX host. F5 to F5 looks for a NAT IP (say ips 194, 195 and 196). Created a DNS entry for all IPs including NAT and ran a SETSPN command to register the IIS service account to be trusted at HTTP, HOST and domain level. With the Web F5 turned on and with eachweb server connecting to a cardinal app server, when the user connects to the Web F5 domain name, trust works and user authenticates without a problem. However, when app load balancer is turned on and web servers are pointed to the new F5 app domain name, user gets 401. IIS log shows no authenticated username and shows a 401 status. Wireshark does show negotiate ticket header passed into the system. Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated. Please advice.

• Why my Ldirectord check multiple times on read server every interval?

  I have a Ldirectord server and two real servers. My ldirectord used to check the request page on real server once in every interval, but now I found that it check four times. I have monitored the log on both real servers, they have the same problem. Here is my ldirectord configuration: checktimeout=10 checkinterval=5 autoreload=yes logfile="/var/log/ldirectord.log" quiescent=no virtual=192.168.1.100:80 fallback=127.0.0.1:80 real=192.168.1.10:80 gate real=192.168.1.20:80 gate service=http request="lb.html" receive="still alive" scheduler=sh persistent=60 protocol=tcp checktype=negotiate Ldirectord will connect to each real server once every 5 seconds (checkinterval) and request 192.168.0.10:80/test.html (real/request). • User authentication -- username mismatch in IIS in ASP.NET application

  Last week, an employee's Active Directory username was changed (or a new one was created for them). For the purposes of this example, let's assume these usernames: Old: Domain\11111 New: Domain\22222 When this user now logs in using their new username, and attempts to browse to any one of a number of ASP.NET applications using only Windows Authentication (no Anonymous enabled), the system authenticates but our next layer of database-driven permissions prevents them from being authorized. We tracked it down to a mismatch of usernames between their logon account and who IIS thinks they are. Below are the outputs of several ASP.NET variables from apps running in a Windows 2008 IIS7.5 environment: Request.ServerVariables["AUTH_TYPE"]: Negotiate Request.ServerVariables["AUTH_USER"]: Domain\11111 Request.ServerVariables["LOGON_USER"]: Domain\22222 Request.ServerVariables["REMOTE_USER"]: Domain\11111 HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name: Domain\11111 System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name: Domain\11111 From the above, I can see that only the LOGON_USER server variable has the correct value, which is the account the user used to log on to their machine. However, we use the "AUTH_USER" variable for looking up the database permissions. In a separate testing environment (completely different server: Windows 2003, IIS6), all of the above variables show "Domain\22222". So this seems to be a server-specific issue, like the credentials are somehow getting cached either on their machine or on the server (the former seems more plausible). So the question is: how do I confirm whether it's the user's machine or the server that is botching the request? How should I go about fixing this?
