  • Is there a better way to refresh WebView?

    - by cdg
    Hi all. Ok. I have looked EVERYWHERE and my little brain just can't understand a better way to refresh an activity. Any suggestions that I can understand would be great. :) Here is the java code: package com.dge.dges; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Intent; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.webkit.WebView; import android.widget.Button; public class dgeActivity extends Activity { WebView mWebView; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); mWebView = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); mWebView.getSettings(); mWebView.loadUrl("http://www.websitehere.php"); Button newButton = (Button)findViewById(R.id.new_button); newButton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Intent intent = new Intent(dgeActivity.this, dgeActivity.class); startActivity(intent); } }); } } And here is the main.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:background="#000000" > <WebView android:id="@+id/webview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:scrollbars="none" /> <Button android:id="@+id/new_button" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:text="Refresh" /> </RelativeLayout> I don't like the idea of just re-stacking activity after activity. There has to be an easier way to refresh the webview. Please help. :)

  • Rotating an ImageVIew along with its original position in android in below HoneyComb versions

    - by candy
    I am trying rotate an ImageView along with its original location (rotating the image aswell as the view). So that After rotation, when I click on the rotated Image in its current position, it should be able clicked in the rotated location only. For this solution I am trying the following code. However it is rotating is going fine. After the rotation end I need to place the ImageView and Image in the rotated Location to make it able click over there only. But it is not going successfully. I am unable to rotated Image location axis points to place correctly. Can any one please suggest a way to resolve this issue. fyi-It should work on Gingerbread version android-9 aniView1.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { Log.e("", "Clicked on IMAGE VIEW - 1"); } }); RotateAnimation rotate5 = new RotateAnimation(0, 150, Animation.INFINITE, 100, Animation.INFINITE, 250); //rotate5.setFillAfter(true); rotate5.setDuration(2000); rotate5.setInterpolator(new LinearInterpolator()); aniView1.setAnimation(rotate5); rotate5.setAnimationListener(new Animation.AnimationListener() { @Override public void onAnimationStart(Animation animation) { } @Override public void onAnimationRepeat(Animation animation) { } @Override public void onAnimationEnd(Animation animation) { int newTop = (int) (aniView1.getTop() + aniView1.getWidth()); aniView1.layout(aniView1.getLeft()-200, newTop, aniView1.getRight(), aniView1.getBottom() + aniView1.getMeasuredWidth()); // aniView1.setLayoutParams(new // RelativeLayout.LayoutParams(RelativeLayout.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,RelativeLayout.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT)); } });

  • Android: SurfaceView and Z-Level Question

    - by JimBadger
    I have a FrameLayout containint first a SurfaceView, and second a RelativeLayout which in turn contians various Buttons and TextViews. Upon the canvas of the SurfaceView I am drawing numerous Bitmaps, and, via Touch and Motion Events am allowing the user to drag them around. These Bitmaps, when dragged around pass underneath the Buttons etc that are inside the RelativeLayout. Now, it's my (possibly mistaken) understanding that the "Z-level" of the SurfaceView, or whatever it has that passes for it, is entirely unrelated to the actual Z-level of the rest of the Layout. Is this the case? If so, how may I get around it, so that dragged Bitmaps are drawn ontop of other Views? Or what other way can I implement a full-screen canvas and yet not have my buttons etc act like the controls of an overlay. I guess what I actually need is an underlay, where touch events can still be picked up by the Buttons etc underneath. But I don't know how to achieve this, as, when redrawing my Canvas, I have to also redraw the background. Can I swap the order of the RelativeLayout and the SurfaceView inside the FrameLayout, and then make the background of the Canvas transparent? If so how? Will touch events still "fall through" to the buttons underneath? Thanks for bearing with me, I know I'm a bit of a waffler.

  • How do you set Android ViewPager to encompass only one View or Layout?

    - by Kyle
    I am struggling with the concepts needed to properly implement a view pager. By following some tutorials and referencing developer.android.com, I am able to get a view pager almost fully functional. The pager will flip through several text views that have been setup to say "My Message 0" through "My Message 9". The problem is that the view pager also flips the button on the bottom of the activity and the red block that is right above the button. I would like to have the view pager only cycle through the text. Would you please help me understand what I'm doing wrong? I have an activity that represents a dashboard: public class DashBoard extends FragmentActivity { private static final int NUMBER_OF_PAGES = 10; private ViewPager mViewPager; private MyFragmentPagerAdapter mMyFragmentPagerAdapter; public void onCreate(Bundle icicle){ super.onCreate(icicle); setContentView(R.layout.dashboard); mViewPager = (ViewPager) findViewById(R.id.viewpager); mMyFragmentPagerAdapter = new MyFragmentPagerAdapter(getSupportFragmentManager()); mViewPager.setAdapter(mMyFragmentPagerAdapter); } private static class MyFragmentPagerAdapter extends FragmentPagerAdapter{ public MyFragmentPagerAdapter(FragmentManager fm) { super(fm); } @Override public Fragment getItem(int index) { return PageFragment.newInstance("My Message " + index); } @Override public int getCount(){ return NUMBER_OF_PAGES; } } and a class for the page fragment: public class PageFragment extends Fragment { public static PageFragment newInstance(String title){ PageFragment pageFragment = new PageFragment(); Bundle bundle = new Bundle(); bundle.putString("title", title); pageFragment.setArguments(bundle); return pageFragment; } @Override public void onCreate(Bundle icicle){ super.onCreate(icicle); } @Override public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle icicle){ View view = inflater.inflate(R.layout.dashboard, container, false); TextView textView = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.textViewPage); textView.setText(getArguments().getString("title")); return view; } } and finally, my xml for the dashboard: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:id="@+id/dashbaordLabel" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > <android.support.v4.view.ViewPager android:id="@+id/viewpager" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textViewPage" android:layout_width = "match_parent" android:layout_height= "wrap_content" /> <Button android:id="@+id/newGoalButton" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/stringNewGoal" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" android:onClick="createNewGoal" /> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/SpaceBottom" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="75dp" android:layout_above="@id/newGoalButton" android:background="@color/red" > </RelativeLayout> </RelativeLayout> A note about my xml, I tried wrapping the text view in some view pager tags eg: <android.support.v4.view.ViewPager android:id="@+id/viewpager" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true" > <TextView android:id="@+id/textViewPage" android:layout_width = "match_parent" android:layout_height= "wrap_content" /> </android.support.v4.view.ViewPager> But all that did was make the text view disappear from the screen, while the button and red block still cycled as in the original issue.

I want to add those value inside the circle when the circle is drag over the other circle. the first option that I have is to get the X and Y of the circle, but I get it. Can anyone fix my code? Here is the Code: MainActivity public class MainActivity extends Activity { int windowwidth; int windowheight; TextView bola; TextView bola2; private float x; private float y; private android.widget.RelativeLayout.LayoutParams layoutParams; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); windowwidth = getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getWidth(); windowheight = getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getHeight(); bola = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.ball); bola2 = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.ball2); bola2.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() { @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub layoutParams = (RelativeLayout.LayoutParams) bola2 .getLayoutParams(); switch (event.getActionMasked()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: int x_cord = (int) event.getRawX(); int y_cord = (int) event.getRawY(); if (x_cord > windowwidth) { x_cord = windowwidth; } if (y_cord > windowheight) { y_cord = windowheight; } layoutParams.leftMargin = x_cord - 25; layoutParams.topMargin = y_cord - 75; bola2.setLayoutParams(layoutParams); break; default: break; } return true; } }); bola.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() { @Override public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) { layoutParams = (RelativeLayout.LayoutParams) bola .getLayoutParams(); switch (event.getActionMasked()) { case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN: break; case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE: int x_cord = (int) event.getRawX(); int y_cord = (int) event.getRawY(); if (x_cord > windowwidth) { x_cord = windowwidth; } if (y_cord > windowheight) { y_cord = windowheight; } layoutParams.leftMargin = x_cord - 25; layoutParams.topMargin = y_cord - 75; bola.setLayoutParams(layoutParams); break; default: break; } // TODO Auto-generated method stub return true; } }); } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.activity_main, menu); return true; }} Activity_main.xml <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" > <TextView android:id= "@+id/ball" android:background="@drawable/bgshape" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="1" tools:context=".MainActivity" /> <TextView android:id= "@+id/ball2" android:background="@drawable/bgshape" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="2" tools:context=".MainActivity" android:layout_x="60dp" android:layout_y="20dp" /> The bgshape.xml(for the circle) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <padding android:bottom="20dp" android:left="25dp" android:right="25dp" android:top="20dp" /> <stroke android:width="2dp" android:color="#000000" /> <solid android:color="#ffffff" /> <corners android:bottomLeftRadius="30dp" android:bottomRightRadius="30dp" android:topLeftRadius="30dp" android:topRightRadius="30dp" /> This code works well. Could anyone fix this so that I can add the value inside the circle when they hit each other?

  • Android App Crashes On Second Run

    - by user1091286
    My app runs fine on first run. On the Menu I added two choices options and quit. options which set up a new intent who goes to a PreferenceActivity and quit which simply call: "android.os.Process.killProcess(android.os.Process.myPid());" On the second time I run my app (after I quit from inside the emulator) it crashes.. Ideas? the menu is called by the foolowing code: @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.menu , menu); return true; } - @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { // Set up a new intent between the updater service and the main screen Intent options = new Intent(this, OptionsScreenActivity.class); // Switch case on the options switch (item.getItemId()) { case R.id.options: startActivity(options); return true; case R.id.quit: android.os.Process.killProcess(android.os.Process.myPid()); return true; • Example: Communication between Activity and Service using Messaging

    - by Lance Lefebure
    I couldn't find any examples of how to send messages between an activity and a service, and spent far too many hours figuring this out. Here is an example project for others to reference. This example allows you to start or stop a service directly, and separately bind/unbind from the service. When the service is running, it increments a number at 10Hz. If the activity is bound to the service, it will display the current value. Data is transferred as an Integer and as a String so you can see how to do that two different ways. There are also buttons in the activity to send messages to the service (changes the increment-by value). Screenshot: AndroidManifest.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.exampleservice" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <activity android:name=".MainActivity" android:label="@string/app_name"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <service android:name=".MyService"></service> </application> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8" /> </manifest> res\values\strings.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> <string name="app_name">ExampleService</string> <string name="service_started">Example Service started</string> <string name="service_label">Example Service Label</string> </resources> res\layout\main.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/btnStart" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Start Service"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/btnStop" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Stop Service" android:layout_alignParentRight="true"></Button> </RelativeLayout> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout02" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/btnBind" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Bind to Service"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/btnUnbind" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Unbind from Service" android:layout_alignParentRight="true"></Button> </RelativeLayout> <TextView android:id="@+id/textStatus" android:textSize="24sp" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Status Goes Here" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textIntValue" android:textSize="24sp" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Integer Value Goes Here" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/textStrValue" android:textSize="24sp" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="String Value Goes Here" /> <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout03" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <Button android:id="@+id/btnUpby1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Increment by 1"></Button> <Button android:id="@+id/btnUpby10" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Increment by 10" android:layout_alignParentRight="true"></Button> </RelativeLayout> </LinearLayout> src\com.exampleservice\MainActivity.java: package com.exampleservice;   • Example: Communication between Activity and Service using Messaging

• ImageView bounds are larger than expected in android layout

    - by Hamy
    Hey all, This is a layout that I have defined in an app. As you can see, I would like the TextView "@details/image_time_counter" to be aligned with the bottom right of the image. Unfortunately, this is currently what shows - app - hierarchy viewer all - HV part 2. HierarchyViewer reports that the ImageView has bounds much bigger than what I am expecting. Can anyone explain these bounds, or just tell me how to make the bounds be the same as the image size? Thanks, Hamy <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/RelativeLayout01" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> </RelativeLayout>

  • Android: Custom view based on layout: how?

    - by Peterdk
    I am building a Android app and I am a bit struggling with custom Views. I would like to have a reusable View that consist of a few standard layout elements. Let's say a relativelayout with some buttons in it. How should I proceed. Should I create a custom view class that extends RelativeLayout and programmaticly add those buttons? I would think that's a bit overkill? What's the way to do it properly in Android?

  • android: How to set a listener that fires when my ViewFlipper shows a new child

    - by Joseph Cheek
    Hi Android gurus, I have a ViewFlipper for which I want a listener to fire when the child displayed is changed. I have set an OnFocusChangeListener to the ViewFlipper but it never fires when I flip from child 0 to child 1 or vice-versa. The ViewFlipper contains two RelativeLayouts and I have tried setting OnFocusChangeListeners for those but I get a ClassCastException when I try to set it. Here's my code: RelativeLayout songsLayout = (RelativeLayout) findViewById(R.id.song_page_layout); songsLayout.setOnFocusChangeListener(new OnFocusChangeListener() { public void onFocusChange(View view, boolean hasFocus) { showPopUp("View " + view.getId() + " now has focus: " + hasFocus); } } ); R.is.song_page_layout is one of my RelativeLayouts and showPopUp() is a function I use to show, well, popups. Does anyone have working code for some sort of trigger that fires when a ViewFlipper changes which child is displayed?

  • android: which view should I use for showing text and image?

    - by Yang
    My app shows a list of items, where each line is an item title with its image asides, the line reserves 70% of space for text and 30% for image. Imagine what iphone app store looks like. Which view/layout combo is recommended for this purpose? I googled and find this article: http://www.curious-creature.org/2009/02/22/android-layout-tricks-1/ Does this view sound good? <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="?android:attr/listPreferredItemHeight" android:padding="6dip"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/icon" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_marginRight="6dip" android:src="@drawable/icon" /> <TextView android:id="@+id/secondLine" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="26dip" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/icon" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:singleLine="true" android:ellipsize="marquee" android:text="Simple application that shows how to use RelativeLayout" /> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_toRightOf="@id/icon" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_alignParentTop="true" android:layout_above="@id/secondLine" android:layout_alignWithParentIfMissing="true" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:text="My Application" />

  • Android GridView with ads below

    - by ktambascio
    Hi, I'm trying to integrate ads (admob) into my Android app. It's mostly working, except for one issue with the layout. My layout consists of: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.example.photos"> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/status_layout"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/cardStatus" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/hello" android:id="@+id/cardStatusText" /> </LinearLayout> <GridView android:id="@+id/imageGridView" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:padding="10dp" android:verticalSpacing="10dp" android:horizontalSpacing="10dp" android:numColumns="auto_fit" android:columnWidth="100dp" android:stretchMode="columnWidth" android:gravity="center" android:layout_below="@id/status_layout" /> <!-- Place an AdMob ad at the bottom of the screen. --> <!-- It has white text on a black background. --> <!-- The description of the surrounding context is 'Android game'. --> <com.admob.android.ads.AdView android:id="@+id/ad" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" app:backgroundColor="#000000" app:primaryTextColor="#FFFFFF" app:secondaryTextColor="#CCCCCC" app:keywords="Android Photo" /> </RelativeLayout> The ads are shown at the bottom of the screen, just as I want. However, they seem to be overlayed or drawn on top of the bottom portion of the grid view. I would like the gridview to be shorter, so that the ad can fill the bottom portion of the screen, and not hide part of the gridview. The problem is most annoying when you scroll all the way to the bottom of the gridview, and you still cannot fully see the last row items in the grid due to the ad. I'm not sure if this is the standard way that AdMob ads work. If this is the case, adding some padding to the bottom of the grid (if that's possible) would due the trick. That way the user can scroll a bit further, and see the last row in addition to the ad. I just switched from using LinearLayout to RelativeLayout after reading some similar issues with ListViews. Now my ad is along the bottom instead of above the grid, so I'm getting closer. Thoughts? -Kevin

  • Drawing lines between views in a TableLayout

    - by RiThBo
    Firstly - sorry if you saw my other question which I deleted. My question was flawed. Here is a better version If I have two views, how do I draw a (straight) line between them when one of them is touched? The line needs to be dynamic so it can follow the finger until it reaches the second view where it "locks on". So, when view1 is touched a straight line is drawn which then follows the finger until it reaches view2. I created a LineView class that extends view, but I don't how to proceed. I read some tutorials but none show how to do this. I think I need to get the coordinates of both view, and then create a path which "updates" on MotionEvent. I can get the coordinates and the ids of the views I want to draw a line between, but the line that I try to draw between them either goes above it, or the line does not reach past the width and height of the view. Any advice/code/clarity would be much appreciated! Here is some code: My layout. I want to draw a line between two views contained in theTableLayout.# <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/activity_game_relative_layout" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <TableLayout android:layout_marginTop="35dp" android:layout_marginBottom="35dp" android:id="@+id/tableLayout1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_centerInParent="true" > <TableRow android:id="@+id/table_row_1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dip" > <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_1" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_2" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_3" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> </TableRow> <TableRow android:id="@+id/table_row_2" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dip" > <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_7" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.view.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_8" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> <com.example.dotte.DotView android:id="@+id/game_dot_9" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginBottom="10dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_marginTop="10dp" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout> </RelativeLayout> This is my LineView class. I use this to try and draw the actual line between the points. public class LineView extends View { Paint paint = new Paint(); float startingX, startingY, endingX, endingY; public LineView(Context context) { super(context); // TODO Auto-generated constructor stub paint.setColor(Color.BLACK); paint.setStrokeWidth(10); } public void setPoints(float startX, float startY, float endX, float endY) { startingX = startX; startingY = startY; endingX = endX; endingY = endY; invalidate(); } @Override public void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { canvas.drawLine(startingX, startingY, endingX, endingY, paint); } } And this is my Activity. public class Game extends Activity { DotView dv1, dv2, dv3, dv4, dv5, dv6, dv7; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_game); getWindow().getDecorView().setSystemUiVisibility( View.SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LOW_PROFILE); findDotIds(); RelativeLayout rl = (RelativeLayout) findViewById(R.id.activity_game_relative_layout); LineView lv = new LineView(this); lv.setPoints(dv1.getLeft(), dv1.getTop(), dv7.getLeft(), dv7.getTop()); rl.addView(lv); // TODO: Get the coordinates of all the dots in the TableLayout. Use view tree observer. } private void findDotIds() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub dv1 = (DotView) findViewById(R.id.game_dot_1); dv2 = (DotView) findViewById(R.id.game_dot_2); dv3 = (DotView) findViewById(R.id.game_dot_3); dv4 = (DotView) findViewById(R.id.game_dot_4); dv5 = (DotView) findViewById(R.id.game_dot_5); dv6 = (DotView) findViewById(R.id.game_dot_6); dv7 = (DotView) findViewById(R.id.game_dot_7); } } The views I want to draw lines between are in the TableLayout.

  • Fixed footer not displaying the bottom-most list item

    - by Mohit Deshpande
    Here is my XML layout: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <ListView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@android:id/list" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> </ListView> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"> <EditText xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="1" /> <Button xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_weight="2" /> </LinearLayout> </RelativeLayout> Which causes this problem: The listview item (outlined in red) is behind the fixed footer and cannot be used. Any solutions?

  • My app has some basic problems, and it stops working

    - by user2882662
    I am writing a basic application which contains two activities. Both contain a TextView showing the title and the first one contains an EditText in which the user types a message and clicks on a button on its side, the second activity is launched which shows the message the user types. It has the following problems: The title (the first TextView in both the activities) doesn't show in the middle of the line, despite of the android:gravity="center_horizontal" attribute. The EditText in the first activity does not show at all. When I click on the button, the app stops saying "Unfortunately Write n Display and stopped.", rather than launching the second activity at all. I don't have adequate knowledge about logcat, but I have followed the steps somebody had told me, that is WindowOpen Perspective Other DDMS Then run the app and select the package name from the Devices and click on log cat, select the exception(s) and export to text file. All contained in the text file is : : E/(): Device disconnected: 1 Since I am not sure of using log cat, so I am posting a screenshot to make clear what I have done. • android ImageView scaling to fit another View

    - by Nick
    I have a relative layout that comprises a TextView and an ImageView: <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentLeft="true"/> <ImageView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:adjustViewBounds="true"/> </RelativeLayout> It looks as follows: What I want to achieve is: It means that I want my ImageView to scale to fit the TextView by height. Can it be done in xml, without java-coding? If I could write something like android:layout_height="match_that_TextView" it would have solved this issue, but it's impossible I guess.

  • Should I use multiple ListViews?

    - by janfsd
    Hi to everybody! I have a RelativeLayout with different elements. I was planning to have two ListViews on it, but I have noticed there are some problems with scrolling. Since each ListView only shows a maximum of 5 rows should I try to make some kind of custom adapter to merge those ListViews? Or is it better to replace the ListView with a LinearLayout/RelativeLayout and add the rows as I get them manually? (like the first answer in here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1778485/android-listview-display-all-available-items-without-scroll-with-static-header ). Which should be the proper way on doing this? or is there another way? Also, each row will have an OnClickListener.
