Design: How to model / where to store relational data between classes

I'm trying to figure out the best design here, and I can see multiple approaches, but none that seems "right." There are three relevant classes here: Base, TradingPost, and Resource. Each Base has a TradingPost which can offer various Resources depending on the Base's tech level. Where is the right place to store the minimum tech level a base must possess to offer any given resource? A database seems like overkill. Putting it in each subclass of Resource seems wrong--that's not an intrinsic property of the Resource. Do I have a mediating class, and if so, how does it work? It's important that I not be duplicating code; that I have one place where I set the required tech level for a given item. Essentially, where does this data belong? P.S. Feel free to change the title; I struggled to come up with one that fits.

Storing data offline with javascript

My question is about storing data offline and potentially whether I will need to bring in an outside programmer or could this be learned within a few weeks? The website I am working on will have an interface where users will login and go through a series of quizzes in the form of checkbox, drop down menus, and others. Each page/quiz area could have 20-100 total checkboxes in a series of 3-5 rows because of the comprehensive nature of course. This I can do - I know how to code the quiz and return a correct or incorrect answer based on each individual checkbox and present a cumulative score (ie: you got 57% correct). The issue lies in the fact that I would like to save the users results and keep them informed of their progress. When they complete all of the quizzes, I would like to have a visual output of their performance in each area. Storing the output from their results offline is where I think I may run into a problem with my lack of coding experience. I would also like to have a sidebar with their progress of each section (10-15) with a green percentage completion bar or a % correct which would draw from this. I have never had to code something that stores information like this offline - so back to my question - would it be better to learn the language needed or bring in a coder/developer for the back end stuff.

Googlebot requesting invalid url

I have a web app which emails me exceptions automatically. This morning there was an error relating to a url: /Catalog/LiveCatalog?id=ylwpfqzts id is invalid (should be a guid) and caused an error parsing. Everything was handled correctly, and an error page is returned. But what was odd is that the user-agent reported itself as Googlebot and the IP is registered to Google. The URL would never have been generated by my web app but doesn't look particularly malicious. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

Website Registration Date

I recently registered a website : cinematrailers.net. I was aware that this domain was expired ( registered in 2007 until 2011) My question is when I go to view the registration date on this domain, it says 2012 instead of 2007. Why is that when it was clearly registered in 2007? And will this affect seo? I was under the assumption that the domains age would be great for seo, but now I'm not sure.

Korea’s Anti Abortion / Pro Life Movement

The South Korean government is in dire straits. The national birth rate continues to decline and as the population grows older, there aren’t enough children being born to support the country long term. The social issues of post Korean War are coming back to haunt the empowered nation. Being torn apart by the Korean War (nicknamed the forgotten war in America) and with a nation facing starvation, South Korea allowed hundreds of thousands of their children to be adopted abroad. This has created a problem of epidemic proportions, essentially devaluing life in Korea and child rearing. In an effort to encourage birth rates, the government encouraged their workers to go home early and procreate by turning off the lights in buildings. Something unknown to me, was the illegalization of abortion except in special cases. According to the this article, http://joongangdaily.joins.com it’s working. Abortions are down and women are being encouraged to give birth. However the flip side is illegal risky abortions are on the rise, with potential back alley abortions looming. But with a nation facing it’s potential implosion, it has to continue it’s efforts to encourage mothers to give birth. Many of the issues that America has faced is in stark contrast to South Korea. Abortion has been a generally accepted procedure for some time. If you’ll recall, I mentioned South Korea devalued their children. But the nation’s problems lie so much deeper. Being an Asian nation, saving “face” is an important aspect of life. And being an unwed mother disgraces the family. Living as a single mother in South Korea is a difficult life. Most married mothers stay at home to take care of the children. Being a shunned single mother that has a hard time getting a job (because you are a single mother) and affording child care isn’t like life in America. If we in the states suddenly faced a birthrate crisis, what would the U.S. government do?

Multiple synonym dictionary matches in PostgreSQL full text searching

I am trying to do full text searching in PostgreSQL 8.3. It worked splendidly, so I added in synonym matching (e.g. 'bob' == 'robert') using a synonym dictionary. That works great too. But I've noticed that it apparently only allows a word to have one synonym. That is, 'al' cannot be 'albert' and 'allen'. Is this correct? Is there any way to have multiple dictionary matches in a PostgreSQL synonym dictionary? For reference, here is my sample dictionary file: bob robert bobby robert al alan al albert al allen And the SQL that creates the full text search config: CREATE TEXT SEARCH DICTIONARY nickname (TEMPLATE = synonym, SYNONYMS = nickname); CREATE TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name (COPY = simple); ALTER TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name ALTER MAPPING FOR asciiword WITH nickname, simple; What am I doing wrong? How to configure a Firebird Database to run in memory

I'm running a software called Fishbowl inventory and it is running on a firebird database (Windows server 2003) at this time the fishbowl software is running extremely slow when more then one user accesses the software. I'm thinking I maybe able to speed up the application by forcing the database to run "In Memory". However I can not find documentation on how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Embed resource in .NET Assembly without assembly prefix?

Hi all, When you embed a reosurce into a .NET assembly using Visual Studio, it is prefixed with the assembly name. However, assemblies can have embedded resources that are not assembly-name-prefixed. The only way I can see to do this is to disassemble the assembly using ildasm, then re-assemble it, adding the new resource -- which works, but... do I really need to finish that sentence? (Desktop .NET Framework 3.5, VS 2008 SP1, C#, Win7 Enterprise x64) Thanks, All the best, Robert

process tree

I'm looking for an easy way to find the process tree (as shown by tools like Process Explorer), in C# or other .Net language. It would also be useful to find the command-line arguments of another process (the StartInfo on System.Diagnostics.Process seems invalid for process other than the current process). I think these things can only be done by invoking the win32 api, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong. Thanks! Robert

Problem while executing test case in VS2008 test project

Hi all I have the situation as follows I have develpoed one test project in visual studio 2008 to test my target project. I'm trying to create an empty list which will have as many elements as there are num.of.walkers. I then try to append, to each created element, a new sub-list (length of new sub-list corresponds to a value in a. When I fiddle around in R everything goes smooth: list.of.dist[[1]] <- vector("list", a[1]) list.of.dist[[2]] <- vector("list", a[2]) list.of.dist[[3]] <- vector("list", a[3]) list.of.dist[[4]] <- vector("list", a[4]) I then try to write a function. Here is my feeble attempt that results in an error. How can i link a oracle user to a business objects user

I have a problem with linking the oracle user to a business objects user. I will try to explain it as detailed as possible; I have a Oracle database (10g) where a couple of users are defined. These users can query on information with application X. Those records will then be written into the oracle database. The records that is written into the database has a ID that links to the person that has run the query. I also have a active directory in wich a couple of users are made; testuser1, testuser2. When those users log on, and want to load a report in Business Objects XI i want them to see the information that was created when the report was activated by that same user that had runned the query before with application X. The name of the person in the active directory and the name in the oracle database are not the same but i dont think that would be a problem in this stage. So the steps i took: First, i run a report in application X (with a account prodpim_rs) wich fills my Oracle database with a record. The second step is logging on as testuser1 (from the AD) and then login on Business Objects XI with the account. Now i want to load a report with the information in my Oracle database. So the prodpim_rs user and the testuser must have a link between them. I am wondering how to forfill this. Can i link the account, wich is made in a Oracle database, with the user of BO wich is linked to my AD? Thank you in advance for your reply Robert
