  • Debuild fails to make package for bluelog-1.04

    When trying to build a package for bluelog, Debuild give several errors. In the past, I've used checkinstall to quickly build crude packages. I am now trying to do it the right way and upload to a PPA.   • Cleaning Up After Chrome

    I find Google Chrome, which I have no interest in, is continually getting installed on machines in my house, mostly due to Adobe Shockwave bringing it along as an install package. (Family members are agreeing to the download, not realizing the Chrome is getting dropped as well.) My major issue after uninstalling Chrome is that you can no longer click on links in Outlook emails. There is a lot on the web about this, and Google has not been proactive at fixing their uninstaller. I have now added a registry file to my Win64 systems to reset the problem registry keys and clear the error. This registry file is pretty simple. It merely resets HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.htm, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.html, and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.shtml back to their default values of "htmlfile". Chrome takes over the handling of these file extensions because its default install is to make itself the default web browser. The Chrome uninstalled fails to clear/reset them. In troubleshooting this, I looked in my registry based on the web info on the Chrome uninstall problem. Since my system had never had Chrome installed, my registry did not have the problem keys. To troubleshoot, I installed (ugh!) and uninstalled Chrome. Sure enough, Chrome left the expected debris with a value string of "ChromeHTML.PR2EPLWMBQZK3BY7Z2BFBMFERU" or something similar. Resetting these values fixed the problem. I see that Chrome leaves quite a bit of debris behind in the registry. I guess it is creating the keys then leaving them behind, even though their presence (with bad data) subsequently affects operations.

  • Minimax algorithm: Cost/evaluation function?

    Hi guys, A school project has me writing a Date game in C++ (example at http://www.cut-the-knot.org/Curriculum/Games/Date.shtml) where the computer player must implement a Minimax algorithm with alpha-beta pruning. Thus far, I understand what the goal is behind the algorithm in terms of maximizing potential gains while assuming the opponent will minify them. However, none of the resources I read helped me understand how to design the evaluation function the minimax bases all it's decisions on. All the examples have had arbitrary numbers assigned to the leaf nodes, however, I need to actually assign meaningful values to those nodes. Intuition tells me it'd be something like +1 for a win leaf node, and -1 for a loss, but how do intermediate nodes evaluate? Any help would be most appreciated.

I will probably have to inherit from an existing object and override some function The question is which object and what function GetActionPath of the Metamodel object seems interesting, but how does the DynamicRoute "{table}/{Action}.aspx" play in into it... Right now on Asp.net 1.1 site I use an custom implementation of the following code. http://www.mvps.org/emorcillo/en/code/aspnet/qse.shtml It is HTTPModule that uses regular expression to rewrite all the querystrings and also with reflection changes the Querystring collection with decoded values. So where is the hook to affect the change.

I just can't seem to find the right mathematical formula for the zoom based on the inner width, page offset, etc. I found a solution, but that uses the document.body.getBoundingClientRect call which does not return anything in my case and for which I can't tell if there's a suitable replacement from the window properties.     I'v followed a tutorial to get the GLU tesselator working. It woulds except the interpolation for colors of new points causes a crash (error reading from memory...)     Sikuli is really cool, but it's working in its buildin Jython environment, the Sikuli IDE. So I m wondering is it possible to import Sikuli as an external library to my Jython library? I saw from Sikuli's website that they have this Python module which provides all Sikuli actions like click and type. Then in my spike.py script, I try to do this: import python.edu.mit.csail.uid.Sikuli capture() #enter to screen capture mode then when execute the script, I got this error: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /eclipse_3.4.2/workspace/Jython/src/tmplib/libVDictProxy.jnilib: no suitable image found. Did find: /eclipse_3.4.2/workspace/Jython/src/tmplib/libVDictProxy.jnilib: no matching architecture in universal wrapper I m using Jython 2.2.1 and Mac 10.6.2 (32-bit mode). I have also set to use 32-bit mode first in Java Preference.

    Hello I am looking into authenticating via google. I dont understand how it works:http://code.google.com/apis/accounts/docs/OpenID.html#Samples If i do that 2nd request by entering the data as one url with params into browser i get back XML file. Should i not get back sample response nr3? Can somebody explain this to me? The problem is, that im trying to sort through some third party app that uses google openid authentication and its not recieving authenticated users e-mail back, like in sample response 3.   • using Dependency Parser in Stanford coreNLP

    I am using the Stanford coreNLP ( http://nlp.stanford.edu/software/corenlp.shtml ) in order to parse sentences and extract dependencies between the words. I have managed to create the dependencies graph like in the example in the supplied link, but I don't know how to work with it. I can print the entire graph using the toString() method, but the problem I have is that the methods that search for certain words in the graph, such as getChildList, require an IndexedWord object as a parameter. Now, it is clear why they do because the nodes of the graph are of IndexedWord type, but it's not clear to me how I create such an object in order to search for a specific node. For example: I want to find the children of the node that represents the word "problem" in my sentence. How I create an IndexWord object that represents the word "problem" so I can search for it in the graph?

    I have 100 of .gz files which I need to de-compress. I have couple of questions a) I am using the code given at http://www.roseindia.net/java/beginners/JavaUncompress.shtml to decompress the .gz file. Its working fine. Quest:- is there a way to get the file name of the zipped file. I know that Zip class of Java gives of enumeration of entery file to work upon. This can give me the filename, size etc stored in .zip file. But, do we have the same for .gz files or does the file name is same as filename.gz with .gz removed. b) is there another elegant way to decompress .gz file by calling the utility function in the java code. Like calling 7-zip application from your java class. Then, I don't have to worry about input/output stream. Thanks in advance. Kapil

  • visual studio 2005 is deleting the .svn folder in the bin\Debug directory - how to prevent this?

    For some reason I need to check in a couple of files in the bin\Debug directory. For the past few weeks, I am noticing a strange behaviour from VS2005. Every time I recompile the code, it is deleting the .svn folder in the bin\Debug directory and hence svn is showing "obstructed" error. Even svn clean up doesn't help due to missing .svn folder. Is there any settings on VS2005 to prevent this? In the first place, why it is deleting .svn folder? This thread http://svn.haxx.se/tsvnusers/archive-2008-10/0019.shtml discuss about it but no useful solution to prevent this from happening. Any other suggestions?

  • Calling DLL functions from VB6.

    I've got a Windows DLL that I wrote, written in C/C++ (all exported functions are 'C'). The DLL works fine for me in VC++. I've given the DLL to another company who do all their development in VB. They seem to be having a problem linking to the functions. I haven't used VB in ten years and I don't even have it installed. What could be the problem? I've declared all my public functions as follows: define MYDCC_API __declspec(dllexport) MYDCCL_API unsigned long MYDCC_GetVer( void); . . . Any ideas? Finally got back to this today and have it working.     I know I always post a similar question about array memory usage but now I want post the question more specific. After I read this article: http://www.javamex.com/tutorials/memory/object_memory_usage.shtml I didn't understand some things: the size of a data type is always the same also on different platform (Linux / Windows 32 / 64 bit)??? so an int will be always 32 bit?; when I compute the memory usage I must put also the reference value itself? If I have an object to a class that has an int field its memory will be 12 (object header) + 4 reference + 4 (the int field) + 3 (padding) = 24 bytes??

    I have downloads for static files like product.exe. I want to limit access to these files with a .htaccess file so that only certain users can download it. I think this can be handled with mod_rewrite and I found this snippet online that blocks bad sites using the referrer. I know it may not be the best way to do it, and I guess the referrer can be spoofed, but it does not have to be THAT secure. I am also open to other ideas you may have to for limitting access.     I've done this in the past using a method similar to this: http://javascriptkit.com/javatutors/static3.shtml but I don't like the "flicker" effect as the page is scrolled and the div needs to move with the scrolling. Lately I've seen a lot of site that have an element (a div or the like I presume) that don't move when the page is scrolled but it's seemless...they're just there and it's a beautiful thing. Unfortunately I can't seem to recall where I've seen it lately to view the source and try to figure it out so I figured I'd turn here and see what all of you experts can provide as far as assistance / suggestions. Each time will use different parameter by clear parameters and set parameters. 2)Tune the SQL to minimize the data returned (e.g. not 'SELECT *'). Sure, already used. 3)Use connection pooling. We hold a single connection during the program's execution. And I doubt that pooling cannot solve the problem because our program act as 1 user, so there are no problem for concurrent access to DB. If anyone of you think pooling is good, please tell me why. Thanks. 4)Try to combine queries and batch updates. Cannot do it. Every query/insert/update is depend on the database's information. For example, earlier in the code there is a calculation of the axes to be used, and these are stored as Vector2, and they are found by subtracting one point from another, however these points are also stored as Vector2s. So are the axes being stored as slopes in a single Vector2? Next, what exactly does the Vector2 produced by the vector projection code represent? That is, I know it represents the projected vector, but as it pertains to a Vector2, what does this represent? A point on a line? Finally, what does the scalar at the end actually represent? It's fine to tell me that you're getting a scalar value of the projected vector, but none of the information I can find online seems to tell me about a scalar of a vector as it's used in this context. I don't see angles or magnitudes with these vectors so I'm a little disoriented when it comes to thinking in terms of physics. If this final scalar calculation is just a dot product, how is that directly applicable to SAT from here on? Is this what I use to calculate maximum/minimum values for overlap? I guess I'm just having trouble figuring out exactly what the dot product is representing in this particular context. Clearly I'm not quite up to date on my elementary physics, but any explanations would be greatly appreciated.
