  • @EJB in @ViewScoped managed bean causes java.io.NotSerializableException

    - by ufasoli
Hi, I've been banging my head around with a @ViewScoped managed-bean. I'm using primeface's "schedule" component in order to display some events. When the user clicks on a specific button a method in the viewscoped bean is called using ajax but every time I get a "java.io.NotSerializableException", if I change the managed-bean scope to request the problem dissapears. What am I doing wrong? any ideas? here is my managed bean : @ManagedBean(name = "schedule") @ViewScoped public class ScheduleMBean implements Serializable { // @EJB // private CongeBean congeBean; @ManagedProperty(value = "#{sessionBean}") private SessionMBean sessionBean; private DefaultScheduleModel visualiseurConges = null; public ScheduleMBean(){ } @PostConstruct public void init() { if(visualiseurConges == null){ visualiseurConges = new DefaultScheduleModel(); } } public void updateSchedule(){ visualiseurConges.addEvent(new DefaultScheduleEvent("test" , new Date(), new Date() )); } public void setVisualiseurConges(DefaultScheduleModel visualiseurConges) { this.visualiseurConges = visualiseurConges; } public DefaultScheduleModel getVisualiseurConges() { return visualiseurConges; } public void setSessionBean(SessionMBean sessionBean) { this.sessionBean = sessionBean; } public SessionMBean getSessionBean() { return sessionBean; } } here is the full-stack • Why does Windows Event Log stop logging events before maximum log size is reached?

    - by Tuure Laurinolli
I have a service that produces a lot of event log output. Currently the event log is configured to overwrite any old events to keep the log from ever getting full. We have also increased the event log size considerably (to about 600 MB). Recently the service started reporting errors to its clients, and the error message it was sending to its clients is "The event log file is full". How can this be, when event log is configured to overwrite as necessary? In our hurry to get the service back up we cleared the event log without saving its contents, but most likely it had not reached 600 MB yet, judging from sizes of some earlier log dumps. There is also MS KB entry 312571, which reports that a hot fix to a similar issue is available, but the the configuration that the fix applies to is not exactly the same we have. Specifically, the fix only applies if event logs are configured to never overwrite old events. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that the log files apparently are memory-mapped. What happens if the system runs out of address space to map files to?

  • Zabbix doesn't update value from file neither with log[] nor with vfs.file.regexp[] item

    - by tymik
I am using Zabbix 2.2. I have a very specific environment, where I have to generate desired data to file via script, then upload that file to ftp from host and download it to Zabbix server from ftp. After file is downloaded, I check it with log[] and vfs.file.regexp[] items. I use these items as below: log[/path/to/file.txt,"C.*\s([0-9]+\.[0-9])$",Windows-1250,,"all",\1] vfs.file.regexp[/path/to/file.txt,"C.*\s([0-9]+\.[0-9])$",Windows-1250,,,\1] The line I am parsing looks like below: C: 8195Mb 5879Mb 2316Mb 28.2 The value I want to extract is 28.2 at the end of file. The problem I am currently trying to solve is that when I update the file (upload from host to ftp, then download from ftp to Zabbix server), the value does not update. I was trying only log[] at start, but I suspect, that log[] treat the file as real log file and doesn't check the same lines (althought, following the documentation, it should with "all" value), so I added vfs.file.regexp[] item too. The log[] has received a value in past, but it doesn't update. The vfs.file.regexp[] hasn't received any value so far. file.txt has got reuploaded and redownloaded several times and situation doesn't change. It seems that log[] reads only new lines in the file, it doesn't check lines already caught if there are any changes. The zabbix_agentd.log file doesn't report any problem with access to file, nor with regexp construction (it did report "unsupported" for log[] key, when I had something set up wrong). I use debug logging level for agent - I haven't found any interesting info about that problem. I have no idea what I might be doing wrong or what I do not know about how Zabbix is performing these checks. I see 2 solutions for that: adding more lines to the file instead of making new one or making new files and check them with logrt[], but those doesn't satisfy my desires. Any help is greatly appreciated. Of course I will provide additional information, if requested - for now I don't know what else might be useful.

  • Are there any applications written in the Io programming language? (Or, distributing Io applications

    - by Rayne
I've recently become interested in prototype-based OOP, and I've been playing with Io and Ioke. Distributing an application with Ioke is simple. It's on the JVM. Need I say more? However, I'm absolutely stumped as to how one would distribute an Io application, especially on Windows. It's not like you can have end-users compile Io to run your application. I was actually shocked the Io has gone for 8 years without forming some sort of standards for things like distribution. Ruby has gems, Java has jars, and so on. The worse thing about it is, I can't find a single application written in Io to maybe steal ideas on distribution from. Maybe I suck at google searching (Io is a horrible search name, by the way ;P). Is there any sort of canonical way to distribute Io applications? Are there even any Io applications in existence, or am I just missing the point? I'm not sure if this should be community wiki or not. If you think it should, comment and let me know.

  • Strategy for clients to retrieve real-time log from HTTP server

    - by Jerry Dodge
I have an HTTP Server Service application which has its own logging mechanism. It's written in Delphi. I would like to provide a way for multiple clients to connect to this service and get a real-time update of the log. The log in the service moves rather fast, there's a lot of things to log. There may be up to 50 messages within 1 second at times. The existing log which is already implemented is not saved, it's only kept in the memory of the server service - where I will need to distribute it to any client which needs it. Once all clients have a log message, it should be deleted. I intend to use HTTP to "ask" the server for the log, and respond with an XML packet. The connections are not keep-alive. The only problem is, the server should only send the client those log records which it needs, not everything. I have no way of the server pushing the log to the clients in real-time, so each client needs to repeatedly ask the server for the latest log records. This HTTP Server is very lightweight, and there is no session management. There isn't even any type of authentication. The only way I see is for a client to register its self on the server, and whenever a log is issued on the server, it creates a copy of the log for each client, where each client has a log queue (string list). However, suppose there are 100 clients connected and expecting to receive this log. That means the server must create 100 copies of each log, add this log to the end of each client log queue, and wait for the client to request it. At that point, when the server replies with the XML log, it should flush (delete) whatever's in the queue. I'm worried however that this could cause memory issues. Each client log queue might get 100 log messages before the client requests the latest logs. How should I go about doing this in the fastest way possible without hindering the performance of the server? I'm trying to avoid having to create a copy of each log for each client.

  • Minimizing SQL transaction log file size on developer box running simple recovery model

    - by Anders Rask
We have alot of SQL servers on development environment where we never take backup of the databases (TFS for code is enough). The (SharePoint) databases are all set to simple recovery model, but the log files, especially for the SharePoint configuration database is growing quite large and filling up our data drive on the SQL server. Since these log files are never used for anything, i would like advice on how to best minimize the size of these log files -or even disable them if possible. I'm not completely sure why the log files grow so large even on simple logging (checked for long running transactions (DBCC OPENTRAN) but found none). I guess the reason for the log files not being truncated is, that we dont take any backups, and hence Checkpoints arent reached. The autogrowth for log files are set to autogrow by 10% restricted to 2 gb, so i guess that is why Checkpoint (70%) arent reached here either. What would be the be best strategy to keep log files small (best case 0) without sacrificing performance (eg VLF fragmentation)?

  • Data, Log and Temp file placement

    - by jchang
First especially for all the people with SAN storage, drive letters are of no consequence. What matters is the actual physical disk layout. Forget capacity, pay attention to the number of spindles supporting each RAID group. If the RAID group is shared with other application, make sure there the SLA guarantees read and write latency. One very large company conducted a stress test in the QA environment. The SAN admin carved the LUNs from the same pool of disks as production, but thought he had a really...(read more)

  • Which logfile(s) log(s) errors reading a cd?

    - by Robert Vila
I introduce a CD-RW, maybe blank (I really don't know), and after a little movement inside the reader, the CD is ejected without any message at all. I would like to know what is going on and the reason why it is ejected. How can I know that in Natty. The CD reader is working OK because I can read other CD's. It only gave me problems writing from Natty, a few days ago, but with MacOS there was no problem. Thank you Edit: Maybe there is no error, but then, how can I know what is in the Cd if there is anything?

  • NullReferenceException when changing skin/theme via Application.Current.Resources

    - by CoolCat
I am writing an wpf application with multiple skins. The code to switch theme is as below: try { Application.Current.Resources.MergedDictionaries.Add( resource ); } catch( Exception ex ) { } The first time the code is called (to switch to a new theme), it is executed successfully; however, any subsequent calls to the same code would throw System.NullReferenceException. The way I set up my themes are similar to what described here: http://www.codewrecks.com/blog/index.php/2008/05/22/simple-skinnable-and-theme-management-in-wpf-user-interface/. Has anyone seen this error before? How do I go about debugging this since the exception is thrown else where? Any help is greatly appreciated. • IO redirect engine with metadata

    - by hawk.hsieh
Is there any C library or tool to redirect IO and be able to configured by a metadata. And provide a dynamic link library to perform custom process for feeding data into next IO. For example, network video recorder: record video: socket do_something() file preview video: socket do_something() PCI device http service: download file: socket do_something(http) file socket post file: socket do_something(http) file serial control: monitor device: uart do_something(custom protocol) popen("zip") socket I know the unix-like OS has IO redirect feature and integrate all application you want. Even socket IO you can use /dev/tcp or implement a process to redirect to stdout. But this is process based , the process's foot print is big , IPC is heavy. Therefore, I am looking for something to redirect IO in a process and the data redirect between IO is configurable with a metadata (XML,jason or others).

  • Logrotate Successful, original file goes back to original size

    - by drewrockshard
Has anyone had any issues with logrotate before that causes a log file to get rotated and then go back to the same size it originally was? Here's my findings: Logrotate Script: /var/log/mylogfile.log { rotate 7 daily compress olddir /log_archives missingok notifempty copytruncate } Verbose Output of Logrotate: copying /var/log/mylogfile.log to /log_archives/mylogfile.log.1 truncating /var/log/mylogfile.log compressing log with: /bin/gzip removing old log /log_archives/mylogfile.log.8.gz Log file after truncate happens [root@server ~]# ls -lh /var/log/mylogfile.log -rw-rw-r-- 1 part1 part1 0 Jan 11 17:32 /var/log/mylogfile.log Literally Seconds Later: [root@server ~]# ls -lh /var/log/mylogfile.log -rw-rw-r-- 1 part1 part1 3.5G Jan 11 17:32 /var/log/mylogfile.log RHEL Version: [root@server ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 4) Logrotate Version: [root@DAA21529WWW370 ~]# rpm -qa | grep logrotate logrotate-3.7.1-10.RHEL4 Few Notes: Service can't be restarted on the fly, so that's why I'm using copytruncate Logs are rotating every night, according to the olddir directory having log files in it from each night.

  • Reducing IO caused by nginx

    - by glumbo
    I have a lot of free RAM but my IO is always 100 %util or very close. What ways can I reduce IO by using more RAM? My iotop shows nginx worker processes with the highest io rate. This is a file server serving files ranging from 1mb to 2gb. Here is my nginx.conf #user nobody; worker_processes 32; worker_rlimit_nofile 10240; worker_rlimit_sigpending 32768; error_log logs/error.log crit; #pid logs/nginx.pid; events { worker_connections 51200; } http { include mime.types; default_type application/octet-stream; access_log off; limit_conn_log_level info; log_format xfs '$arg_id|$arg_usr|$remote_addr|$body_bytes_sent|$status'; sendfile off; tcp_nopush off; tcp_nodelay on; directio 4m; output_buffers 3 512k; reset_timedout_connection on; open_file_cache max=5000 inactive=20s; open_file_cache_valid 30s; open_file_cache_min_uses 2; open_file_cache_errors on; client_body_buffer_size 32k; server_tokens off; autoindex off; keepalive_timeout 0; #keepalive_timeout 65;

  • InnoDB: Error: log file ./ib_logfile0 is of different size

    - by jack
I just added the following lines in /etc/mysql/my.cnf after I converted one database to use InnoDB engine. innodb_buffer_pool_size = 2560M innodb_log_file_size = 256M innodb_log_buffer_size = 8M innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit = 2 innodb_thread_concurrency = 16 innodb_flush_method = O_DIRECT But it raise "ERROR 2013 (HY000) at line 2: Lost connection to MySQL server during query" error restarting mysqld. And mysql error log shows the following InnoDB: Error: log file ./ib_logfile0 is of different size 0 5242880 bytes InnoDB: than specified in the .cnf file 0 268435456 bytes! 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Plugin 'InnoDB' init function returned error. 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Plugin 'InnoDB' registration as a STORAGE ENGINE failed. 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Unknown/unsupported table type: InnoDB 100118 20:52:52 [ERROR] Aborting So I commented out this line # innodb_log_file_size = 256M And it restarted mysql successfully. I wonder what's the "5242880 bytes of log file" showed in mysql error? It's the first database on InnoDB engine on this server so when and where is that log file created? In this case, how can I enable innodb_log_file_size directive in my.cnf? EDIT I tried to delete /var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile0 and restart mysqld but it still failed. It now shows the following in error log. 100118 21:27:11 InnoDB: Log file ./ib_logfile0 did not exist: new to be created InnoDB: Setting log file ./ib_logfile0 size to 256 MB InnoDB: Database physically writes the file full: wait... InnoDB: Progress in MB: 100 200 InnoDB: Error: log file ./ib_logfile1 is of different size 0 5242880 bytes InnoDB: than specified in the .cnf file 0 268435456 bytes! Resolution It works now after deleted both ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1 in /var/lib/mysql

  • SceneManagers as systems in entity system or as a core class used by a system?

    - by Hatoru Hansou
It seems entity systems are really popular here. Links posted by other users convinced me of the power of such system and I decided to try it. (Well, that and my original code getting messy) In my project, I originally had a SceneManager class that maintained needed logic and structures to organize the scene (QuadTree, 2D game). Before rendering I call selectRect() and pass the x,y of the camera and the width and height of the screen and then obtain a minimized list containing only visible entities ordered from back to front. Now with Systems, originally in my first attempt my Render system required to get added all entities it should handle. This may sound like the correct approach but I realized this was not efficient. Trying to optimize It I reused the SceneManager class internally in the Renderer system, but then I realized I needed methods such as selectRect() in others systems too (AI principally) and make the SceneManager accessible globally again. Currently I converted SceneManager to a system, and ended up with the following interface (only relevant methods): /// Base system interface class System { public: virtual void tick (double delta_time) = 0; // (methods to add and remove entities) }; typedef std::vector<Entity*> EntitiesVector; /// Specialized system interface to allow query the scene class SceneManager: public System { public: virtual EntitiesVector& cull () = 0; /// Sets the entity to be used as the camera and replaces previous ones. virtual void setCamera (Entity* entity) = 0; }; class SceneRenderer // Not a system { vitual void render (EntitiesVector& entities) = 0; }; Also I could not guess how to convert renderers to systems. My game separates logic updates from screen updates, my main class have a tick() method and a render() method that may not be called the same times. In my first attempt renderers were systems but they was saved in a separated manager, updated only in render() and not in tick() like all other systems. I realized that was silly and simply created a SceneRenderer interface and give up about converting them to systems, but that may be for another question. Then... something does not feel right, isn't it? If I understood correctly a system should not depend on another or even count with another system exposing an specific interface. Each system should care only about its entities, or nodes (as optimization, so they have direct references to relevant components without having to constantly call the component() or getComponent() method of the entity).

  • FormatException with IsolatedStorageSettings

    - by Jurgen Camilleri
I have a problem when serializing a Dictionary<string,Person> to IsolatedStorageSettings. I'm doing the following: public Dictionary<string, Person> Names = new Dictionary<string, Person>(); if (!IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Contains("Names")) { //Add to dictionary Names.Add("key", new Person(false, new System.Device.Location.GeoCoordinate(0, 0), new List<GeoCoordinate>() { new GeoCoordinate(35.8974, 14.5099), new GeoCoordinate(35.8974, 14.5099), new GeoCoordinate(35.8973, 14.5100), new GeoCoordinate(35.8973, 14.5099) })); //Serialize dictionary to IsolatedStorage IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Add("Names", Names); IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Save(); } Here is my Person class: [DataContract] public class Person { [DataMember] public bool Unlocked { get; set; } [DataMember] public GeoCoordinate Location { get; set; } [DataMember] public List<GeoCoordinate> Bounds { get; set; } public Person(bool unlocked, GeoCoordinate location, List<GeoCoordinate> bounds) { this.Unlocked = unlocked; this.Location = location; this.Bounds = bounds; } } The code works the first time, however on the second run I get a System.FormatException at the if condition. Any help would be highly appreciated thanks. P.S.: I tried an IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings.Clear() but the call to Clear also gives a FormatException. I have found something new...the exception occurs twenty-five times, or at least that's how many times it shows up in the Output window. However after that, the data is deserialized perfectly. Should I be worried about the exceptions if they do not stop the execution of the program? • --log-slave-updates is OFF but some updates are still logged to the slave binary log?

MySQL version 5.5.14 According to the document, by the default, slave does not log to its binary log any updates that are received from a master server. Here are my config. on the slave: # egrep 'bin|slave' /etc/my.cnf relay-log=mysqld-relay-bin log-bin = /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin binlog-format=MIXED sync_binlog = 1 log-bin-trust-function-creators = 1 mysql> show global variables like 'log_slave%'; +-------------------+-------+ | Variable_name | Value | +-------------------+-------+ | log_slave_updates | OFF | +-------------------+-------+ 1 row in set (0.01 sec) mysql> select @@log_slave_updates; +---------------------+ | @@log_slave_updates | +---------------------+ | 0 | +---------------------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec) but slave still logs the some changes to its binary logs, let's see the file size: -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 37M Apr 1 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001256 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 25M Apr 2 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001257 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 46M Apr 3 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001258 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 115M Apr 4 01:00 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001259 -rw-rw---- 1 mysql mysql 105M Apr 4 18:54 /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.001260 and the sample query when reading these binary files with mysqlbinlog utility: #120404 19:08:57 server id 3 end_log_pos 110324763 Query thread_id=382435 exec_time=0 error_code=0 SET TIMESTAMP=1333541337/*!*/; INSERT INTO norep_SplitValues VALUES ( NAME_CONST('cur_string',_utf8'118212' COLLATE 'utf8_general_ci')) /*!*/; # at 110324763 Did I miss something? Reply to @RolandoMySQLDBA: If replication brought this over, then the same query has to be in the relay logs. Please go find the relay log that has the INSERT query with the same TIMESTAMP (1333541337). There is no such query with the same TIMESTAMP in the relay logs. If you cannot find it in the relay logs, then look and see if Infobright is posting the INSERT query. In that instance, the INSERT should be recorded in the binary logs of the Slave. Looking more deeply into the binary logs, I see that almost of the queries are CREATE/INSERT/UPDATE/DROP "temporary" tables, something like this: # at 123873315 #120405 0:42:04 server id 3 end_log_pos 123873618 Query thread_id=395373 exec_time=0 error_code=0 SET TIMESTAMP=1333561324/*!*/; SET @@session.pseudo_thread_id=395373/*!*/; CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE `norep_tmpcampaign` ( `campaignid` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' , `status` INTEGER(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' , `updated` DATETIME, KEY `campaignid` (`campaignid`) )ENGINE=MEMORY /*!*/; # at 123873618 #120405 0:42:04 server id 3 end_log_pos 123873755 Query thread_id=395373 exec_time=0 error_code=0 SET TIMESTAMP=1333561324/*!*/; DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `norep_tmpcampaign1` /* generated by server */ "temporary" here means that they are dropped after calculation is done. • Filtering serial port io

    - by mr odus
I am currently working on a project where I communicate with hardware via a com port on its respective pc(win xp or 7) It is a fairly large project and sifting through the log file can be a bit of pain. This is my current setup. I use putty to do the actual serial communication, and write it to a log file. Then using MinGW Msys I filter it using tail -f "puttyLog" | grep -i "search term" Is there a better way to do this? I mean specifically filtering the input in realtime. Not that mine is terrible, but it still involves having to read from a log and sometimes there have been hangups where it will be delayed for a minute or 2. I have used software in the past with a main io window and then internal filter panels, but can no longer remember or find it.

  • Unable to log into samba server

I am unable to log into a samba server (running on fedora core 6) as it prompts for a username and password when I try to connect to the mapped drives from my windows 7 machine. I decided to reset the password using the command smbpassword paddy and when I list users using check the pdbedit -L -v I see that the password was updated at the time I made this change. However, I am still unable to log in. The log file in /var/log/samba/log.paddy shows: [2012/10/11 09:55:54.605923, 1] smbd/service.c:678(make_connection_snum) create_connection_server_info failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED [2012/10/11 09:55:54.606635, 1] smbd/service.c:678(make_connection_snum) create_connection_server_info failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED How can I resolve this so that I can log in?

  • How to view multiple log files as one file in unix/linux

Hi, I was wondering if there is a convenient way in linux/unix to read multiple log files as one. More specifically, I would like to view a sequence of log files (app.log, app.log.1 app.log.2, etc) as one big file using normal unix tools (vi, less, etc). When the EOF is read the tool will automatically move to the beginning of the next file. During my work I have to analyze uat/prod logs to investigate and solve problems. The fact that I need to traverse many log files disturbs my work and causes delays. Any ideas?
