• Dual screens with one workspace on each?

  Hi all, I have a dual screen, compiz-fusion and i don't have a NVDIA/ATI graphic card and i use ubuntu 10.10. i currently use the two monitors: the desktop is stretched across monitors and i can drag an application across monitors. My question follows: i would like to use the left monitor only to display workspace1 and the right monitor to display workspace2. Is this possible ? If yes how (I've found mention of dualXscreen on this board, but i can't find it in the compizConfig menus). Best,

• ubuntu 10.04 span window across workspaces

  I'm using an old server machine as a linux box desktop, and as such I have a lot of power but not a lot of display options. I cannot increase my resolution past 800x600 and recently this has become just to small. I have mostly been able to workaround windows being to large for a workspace by moving them with the alt key, but I would like to use something a little more versatile. My plan is to have a setup where I can open a windows (say firefox) on the top-left workspace and then resize it so that it fills four workspaces in an emulated "wall of monitors" fashion. I already have my workspaces arranged like this, but I am not seeing any options for allowing programs/windows to exist on more than one workspace at a time, I know that what I am trying to accomplish is possible (or was at some point in time) because when I google my solution pages appear with people trying to do the opposite (windows already appear on more than one workspace and they dislike it). Any help is much appreciated.

• Workspace.PendEdit not checking out files

  I'm using the TFS 2010 SDK to programmatically check in edits to files into TFS 2010. The documentation on the TFS 2010 SDK is sparse at best. When I call the method workspace.pendedit() passing in an array of files I want to mark as having a pending edit, nothing is actually checked out. So when I call workspace.checkin() passing in workspace.getpendingchanges and some comments I get an exception that there must be at least one thing that has a pending change (which should be what I passed into pendedit). Any thoughts on why the app isn't marking the files as having a pending edit in the workspace?

• Reviving a deleted file for use in my workspace

  Greetings We run perforce with several users. Each user has their own development website that shows files in their workspace. This is great for making and viewing changes to webpages before submitting them. Sometime ago, we deleted a few pages in Perforce. I would like to revive these pages, but not to make them visible on our live site. I want to view them in my workspace and on my dev site, but I do want to push them out to our live server. In the "depot" tab of my P4 client, I can see the deleted files. I cannot see them in the "Workspace" tab of my client. How can I revive them for use in my Workspace, but not make them live to the world? I'm not a P4 admin so I could use a little guidance. Thanks for any help,

The first one, with vmware on fullscreen, and the second one as the main screen with windows 7 with the browser and some applications, is there any way to toggle the screens configuration with a hotkey so it switches the main screen to the left and all applications accordingly (Vmware on full screen on the right monitor, and all applications on the left)

• Exception seem in an eclipse GMF application when file not present in workspace

  I am developing a GMF application . In this situation , I start my workspace and load a file in the workspace . Then I close the workspace and then delete the file from the workspace . After that, I try to restart my application and restore the workspace . Of course , now since the file does not exist , there are going to be exceptions . I tried a lot to handle these exceptions but if I try to get rid of one exception , then another pops up . Does anyone know what methods do I have to override in order to handle this situation correctly . • Eclipse grinds to a halt when building workspace

  Hi all, This is a bit of a vague question because, frankly, I don't even know where to begin diagnosing the issue. My eclipse (Galileo) installation grinds to a complete halt when it's building the workspace -- to the point where I can't even type. I know the Android SDK I have installed is a major culprit because I can watch the memory usage go through the roof (through the built-in heap monitor) when the Android SDK content loader starts up. Every time I save a file though, the program just stops. The message at the bottom of the screen says Building workspace (74%) and sits there for about 30 or so seconds before completing and returning the performance to normal. I have a few other plugins installed (Maven, SVN, etc) but I'm assuming the main issue is Android. Has anybody had similar issues or any luck correcting this sort of problem? If there's anymore information you think would be helpful, just let me know...I didn't want to do a core dump on this question... I'm running it on Windows 7 64-bit for what it's worth. Thanks! • Strange issues with view switcher after object animator animations

  I have two LinearLayout views that contain a number of edit texts and checkboxes for entering user information (name, email address etc). When a validation fails on one of these fields a gone textview is displayed showing the validation error. I have enclosed the two layouts within a ViewSwitcher and I animate between the two views using the ObjectAnimator class. (Since the code needs to support older versions of Android I am actually using the nineoldandroids backwards compatibility library for this). The bulk of the work is performed in my switchToChild method. If I flip the views more than twice then I start to run into strange errors. Firstly although the correct child view of the view animator is displayed it seems that the other view has focus and I can click on the views beneath the current one. I resolved this issue by adding a viewSwitcher.bringChildToFront at the end of the first animation. When I do this however and perform a validation on the 2nd view the "gone" view that I have now set to visible is not displayed (as if the linearlayout is never being re-measured). • Uiimport does not save variable to base workspace

  I tried using uiimport to load a file to the base workspace.....It worked first time....but after trying again after a while...I wasnt seeing the variable in the base work space. I used the default variable name which is given by 'uiimport". This was the command I used: uiimport(filename) And two variables where created by default..."data" and "textdata"(which is the header)....but now when i run it is no longer saved in the base workspace I do not want to assign a variable to the uiimport like so... K = uiimport(filename) assignin(base,'green',K) I do not want to do that because My dataset has a text header and the data itself, and doing this would assign both "textdata" and "data" to "green" variable How would I be able to get the dimensions of ONLY the "data" in green and how would I pass only "data"(which is in the green variable in the workspace.."rmbr"...the green variable holds both "data" and "textdata") to another function. I was able to do all this when the uiimport automatically saved the variables in the base workspace....but somehow now it doesn't. I would appreciate any help or tips on this matter

  Hi, I followed this way. To create a workspace to manage your source-controlled files 1. From the File menu, select Source Control, and then click Workspaces. 2. In the Manage Workspaces dialog box, click Add. 3. Type a descriptive name in the Name box, enter a comment describing the new workspace in the Comment box, and provide alternative Owner and Computer name values, as necessary. 4. Under Working Folders, in the Source Control Folder box, click the text box and then the ellipsis (…). 5. In the Browse for Folder dialog box, select a server folder, and then click OK. 6. Under Working Folders, in the Local Folder box, click the text box, and then click the ellipsis (…). 7. In the Browse for Folder dialog box, select a folder on your computer, and then click OK. 8. In the Add Workspace dialog box, click OK to create the workspace. 9. In the Manage Workspaces dialog box, click Close. when I click OK button it should get all the folder from TFS to my Local machine? but its not doing that after clcking ok and Close nothing is happening and my local floder does not contain this files tooo? • Style Switcher & Text Resizer Combined?

  Hi there, I've came across various style switchers that allow you to change the stylesheet (i.e. Light, Dark, High Contrast), and carious text-resizers that allow you to resize the test (usually with Three A's, small, medium and large). However, I can't seem to find a single switcher/resizer that works well together by allowing permutations of the two. i.e. so the user can choose a dark background with small text, or a dark background with large text, etc. I can only seem to get this working where the user can choose one or the other styles (large text or High Contrast, not a combination of the two). Any ideas on anything that may be suitable for this at all? Thanks, Stephen

• m2eclipse workspace resolution

  Hi all, I am using m2eclipse for managing maven projects in eclipse. It seems that in the previous release that I was using (0.9.8) the workspace resolution did not work at all, but right now it also does not work quite as I would expect. Namely, when the "resolve dependencied from workspace" setting for a project is not checked, the project turns red and cannot be build. The message says: artifact xxx x.y-SNAPSHOT cannot be found int local repository (or something to that extent). The trouble is that m2eclipse is putting information about workspace project into my local repo. Is there a way to change this behaviour? P.S. The workaround for this is to close the xxx project, then m2eclipse resolved the dependency to whatever version I've had previously in the local repository (i.e. the non-snapshot version).

  I'm trying to import one of the GWT samples into Eclipse by following the instructions below. But when I browse to the directory containing the "Hello" sample and uncheck "Copy projects into workspace", the Finish button is grayed out, preventing me from completing the import. Any ideas why? -- Option A: Import your project into Eclipse (recommended) -- If you use Eclipse, you can simply import the generated project into Eclipse. We've tested against Eclipse 3.3 and 3.4. Later versions will likely also work, earlier versions may not. In Eclipse, go to the File menu and choose: File - Import... - Existing Projects into Workspace Browse to the directory containing this file, select "Hello". Be sure to uncheck "Copy projects into workspace" if it is checked. Click Finish.

• How to express inter project dependencies in Eclipse PDE

  I am looking for the best practice of handling inter project dependencies between mixed project types where some of the projects are eclipse plug-in/OSGI bundle projects (an RCP application) and others are just plain old java projects (web services modules). Few of the eclipse plug-ins have dependencies on Java projects. My problem is that at least as far as I've looked, there is no way of cleanly expressing such a dependency in Eclipse PDE environment. I can have plug-in projects depend on other plug-in projects (via Import-Package or Require-Bundle manifest headers), but not of the plain java projects. I seem to be able to have project declare a dependency on a jar from another project in a workspace, but these jar files do not get picked up by neither export nor launch configuration (although, java code editing sees the libraries just fine). The "Java projects" are used for building services to be deployed on an J2EE container (JBoss 4.2.2 for the moment) and produce in some cases multiple jar's - one for deploying to the JBoss ear and another for use by client code (an RCP application). The way we've "solved" this problem for now is that we have 2 more external tools launcher configurations - one for building all the jar's and another for copying these jar's to the plug-in projects. This works (sort of), but the "whole build" and "copy jars" targets incur quite a large build step, bypassing the whole eclipse incremental build feature and by copying the jars instead of just referencing the projects I am decoupling the dependency information and requesting quite a massive workspace refresh that eats up the development time like it was candy. What I would like to have is a much more "natural" workspace setup that would manage dependencies between projects and request incremental rebuilds only as they are needed, be able to use client code from service libraries in an RCP application plug-ins and be able to launch the RCP application with all the necessary classes where they are needed. So can I have my cake and eat it too ;) NOTE To be clear, this is not so much about dependency management and module management at the moment as it is about Eclipse PDE configuration. I am well aware of products like [Maven], [Ivy] and [Buckminster] and they solve a quite different problem (once I've solved the workspace configuration issue, these products can actually come in handy for materializing the workspace and building the product)

• How do I fix dragging windows to the adjacent workspace?

  I installed CompizConfig-Settings-Manager and I put on all the settings I liked and had in 11.10, including the ability to drag my windows to the adjacent workspace. It's under the Desktop Wall section, on the Edge Flipping tab and I've checked "Edge Flip Move" and "Edge Flip DnD." In 11.10, the movement was smooth between each workspace, and the window would still be "grabbed" in the same place. In 12.04, it's leaving the window behind and the mouse appears to be "grabbing" nothing, but I'm still holding onto the window, and I can still move and place it within the workspace (or indeed the previous workspace as it won't appear in the desired place until I drag the mouse all the way to the edge of the screen). Any way to fix this? I'm running 12.04 beta 2.

• Stacked Launcher Item Double Click Behaviour on Alt-tab

  Let's say that you have multiple firefox windows open. What you see happen is an additional arrow points to it's icon in the launcher. However, if you double click the icon, it displays all of the windows in a spread out fashion, similar to the behaviour from pushing Super + W, but only for that program group. Is it possible to make this window spreading behaviour occur with alt-tab? PS: No idea what tags I should use, or if the language (jargon) in the title or question is appropriate.

  I am attempting to create a pair programming environment sort of set up like multiseat: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultiseatX[1] or https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultiseatOneCard[2] (as the standard issue boxes only have one graphics card) The thing is, I only want one login session, just with 2 monitors, keyboards, and mice. As well as having 2 active applications (so 2 people can be typing independantly). They should ideally be able to mouse over and click & type in the other persons monitor, as well as move windows between the montors. Does anybody know of anything like this that will work? We are running Ubuntu 12.04.
