  • Java games applet not connecting to Yahoo

    Hi. I am trying to play a Y! game which use a java applet. The applet displays the message: Alert. Unable to connect to server. One of four things could have caused this: 1) You are behind a firewall. 2) You are not connected to the internet. 3) The games server is down. 4) You have a stale page in your cache. I have added an exception to the Windows firewall for java.exe. I am obviously connected to the Internet okay. The games server is not down when I am at home. I doubt it is down when I am at work. I have never successfully loaded this page before, so I doubt I have a stale page in cache. Could it be the corporate firewall? Nothing else in my web browser has been blocked before. Maybe the java applet connects on a different port to the browser. What should I test?

  • My email server is being blocked by Yahoo: TS03 Message permanently deferred.

    Hello, My mail server has been getting the following error from Yahoo's mail servers since about a month: postfix/smtp[23791]: host g.mx.mail.yahoo.com[98.137.54.238] refused to talk to me: 421 4.7.1 [TS03] All messages from [my ip] will be permanently deferred; Retrying will NOT succeed. See http:// postmaster.yahoo.com/421-ts03.html I have exchanged about 4 emails with Yahoo's support team. The first three seemed like automated messages, and the 4th told me that there is nothing they can do, but if I change my policies I can send them another email in 6 months. They also told me: However, based on the information you have provided us, we cannot systematically deliver your email to the Inbox at this time. We suggest that you ask your users to set up a filter in Yahoo! Mail to ensure that they get your email messages in their Inbox. The problem is that my email doesn't even get to their Spam folder. The server won't allow any connections. I have never sent spam messages, not even newsletters. I only send emails for my new users so they can activate their account. I've also implemented DKIM and told Yahoo about this. I have checked my configuration with http://www.myiptest.com/staticpages/index.php/DomainKeys-DKIM-SPF-Validator-test and it reports that both SPF and DKIM are set up correctly. What should I do? Basically, I'm losing new users every day. Any help will be appreciated. P.S.: I apologize if this particular question has already been asked. I searched for it but didn't find it.

    Hello everybody, I am trying to build openid login system for my website. To do this I used JanRain's php openid library v 2.1.3. I am also using openid selector to select the openid provider from the list. I first created the attributes array that I need to fetch from the provider as follows: $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/contact/email',2,1, 'email'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson/first',1,1, 'firstname'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson/last',1,1, 'lastname'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson',1,1, 'fullname'); $attribute[] = Auth_OpenID_AX_AttrInfo::make('http://axschema.org/namePerson/friendly',1,1, 'username'); $ax = new Auth_OpenID_AX_FetchRequest; foreach($attribute as $attr) { $ax-add($attr); } $auth_request-addExtension($ax); and in the finish_auth.php file I wrote this to fetch the attributes returned $ax = new Auth_OpenID_AX_FetchResponse(); $obj = $ax-fromSuccessResponse($response); Google gives me all the attributes requested but yahoo doesn't (as stated here that yahoo now supports attribute exchange). Is there any limitation set by yahoo on attribute exchange too. (they give limited websites access to sreg extension of openid). :( Please help me, I am stuck over here. Thanks

    Hello, I've just finished my Android widget. Now I need to have different sizes of this wiget for the user to choose from. for example I need a medium, small and large size widget. so when the user install the app and hold the the home screen then choose widget, in the widget menu I want him to see three widget with the same app name but with the size. something like this: helloSmall helloMedium helloLarge I have the medium one ready but how can I make the small and the large in the same app? knowing that all three sizes contain the same exact data and actions just the size and the background are different.   • Mac dashboard widgets not loading external images

    I set out to make a quick Mac OS X dashboard widget. I read the documentation and was pleased to find out they use simple HTML, JS, and CSS. I created my widget and it works when I open the .html file in Firefox, but it does not work when I install the widget to the dashboard. The widget is simple: it displays the most recent image from a weather web cam stream. The image URLs look like this: http://webcam.com/stream.jpg?1274213999617. The timestamp is appended to the URL and the server automatically responds with the latest image for that time. I did not write the server script. The widget appears to be loading correctly, but the web cam image will not load. Notice the blue question mark in the upper left. The image should appear over the square background image. Is there any special procedure for loading external images into a widget?

  • Android - Transforming widgets within transformed widgets and the resulting usability issues.

    Hello. I'm new to Android application development and I'm currently experimenting with various UI ideas. In the image below, you can see a vertically scrolling list of horizontally scrolling galleries (and also textviews as you can see). I'm also doing some matrix and camera transformations which I will come to in a minute. For the background of the list elements, I use green. Blue is the background of the galleries, and red is the background for the images. These are just for my benefit of learning. The galleries being used are extended classes where I overrode the drawChild method to perform a canvas scale operation in order for the image closest to the center (width) to be larger than the others. The list view going vertically, I overrode the drawChild method and used the camera rotations from lack of depth dimension in the canvas functionality. The items in the list are scaled down and rotated relative to their position's proximity to the center (height). I understood that scrolling and clicking would not necessarily follow along with the image transforms, but it appears as though the parent Gallery class's drawing is constrained to the original coordinates as well (see photo below). I would love to hear any insight any of you have regarding how I can change the coordinates of the galleries in what is rendered via gallery scroll and the touch responsiveness of said gallery. Images in the gallery are not same dimensions, so don't let that throw you in looking at the image below Thanks in advance! Ben link to image (could not embed) -- Update: I was using my test application UI and noticed that when I got the UI to the point of the linked image and then I touched the top portion of the next row in the list, the gallery updated to display the proper representation. So, I added a call to clearFocus() in the drawChild method and that resulted in more accurate drawing. It does seem a tad slower, and since I'm on the Incredible, I'm worried it is a bloated solution. In any event, I would still appreciate any thoughts you have regarding the best way to have the views display properly and how to translate the touch events in the gallery's new displayed area to its touchable coordinates so that scrolling on the actual images works when the gallery has moved.   • Help! Requesting a change of URL on Yahoo Directory!

    I submitted a couple websites on yahoo directory a month ago. For some reason, the url they listed was not the url I asked for, they listed the Japanese version instead of the submitted English version (this is a English directory so obviously it is a mistake). I requested changes and was accepted. But the reality is they promised a change but it was never really done. I contacted them again and again through the 'request a change in URL' form, but there is no answer. Is there any effective way that I can get to them? preferably a phone number or email? Thanks a lot!

  • Why is Yahoo Indexing Bot considered as "evil"?

    After reading and commenting on this question PHP Library for Keeping your site index by Google, Bing, etc, I was curious to look at StackOverFlow's sitemap. This returned a 404 error which I am guessing is just a protected page by determining if your are a Index Bot or simply doesnt exists. This then lead me to look at the robots.txt for StackOverFlow. I was surprised to see the comment "Yahoo bot is evil" along with a couple other Indexing bots (Spinn3r and KSCrawler) . I am unfamilular with Spinn3r and KSCrawler but my question is, why are these bots (particular Yahoo) considered as evil? Surely any and all indexing of any Search Engine is a good thing?

  • How to retrieve the GUID for Yahoo's Contacts API

    I'm attemping to use the Yahoo Contacts API to add an "invite your friends" feature on a site I'm building. I've found the correct web service to call (http://social.yahooapis.com/v1/user/{guid}/contacts) but it is asking for the user's GUID, not their username/password. I've searched, and am unable to find a "lookup" feature through the Yahoo API which lets me get the user's guid from their username/password. Does anyone have any experience with the Contacts API. I've reaad over the documentation, and looked at YQL as well, but I still haven't found how to get the user's guid. Thanks guys.

    Hi, I'm keep getting oauth_problem=consumer_key_unknown error when trying oauth https://api.login.yahoo.com/oauth/v2/get_request_token I'm pretty sure my consumer key is correct because it works locally (Runs via 127.0.0.1). Just keep giving me oauth_problem=consumer_key_unknown when I try it on my server. Any ideas?
