• Integrating Hudson with MS Test?

  Is it possible to integrate Hudson with MS Test? I am setting up a smaller CI server on my development machine with Hudson right now, just so that I can have some statistics (ie. FxCop and compiler warnings). Of course, it would also be nice if it could just run my unit tests and present their output. Up to now, I have added the following batch task to Hudson, which makes it run the tests properly. "%PROGRAMFILES%\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\MSTest.exe" /runconfig:LocalTestRun.testrunconfig /testcontainer:Tests\bin\Debug\Tests.dll However, as far as I know, Hudson does not support analysis of MS Test results, yet. Does anyone know whether the TRX files generated by MSTest.exe can be transformed to the JUnit or NUnit result format (because those are supported by Hudson), or whether there is any other way to integrate MS Test unit tests with Hudson?

Right now Hudson's "Poll SVN" detects that the subversion repository has changed and will try to build the project, even if that change was in a different project. Is there a way to set up "Poll SCM" to only respond to changes in a certain branch?

  I'm using Phing to do post build tasks in Hudson. I want to generate changelog containing all commits since last successful Hudson build. But looks like neither Hudson nor Git plugin for Hudson does not provide %last_build_time% variable. This would be satisfying solution, (but how to get the time?): git log --pretty="%s" --since="%last_build_time%" The only way I see for now is extracting it from the job xml file, but I do not know if it is possible with Phing. How do you generate your change logs?

  I am working on setting up CI for my iOS application and I am facing some issues. Where is a good place to find documents on Bot? I have seen the Xcode help but cant find any good example, also watched the CI video from 2013 conference How do i create a custom trigger script, so every time a developer commits their code it will automatically trigger the bot. How do I merge the code to master only if Test successfully passes the bot? But it doesn't work with other properties (those are not starting with the CCnet prefix) as LastChangeNumber or LastModificationDate.   I am getting confused with this plug in. basically my target is to Deploy files from Server1 to Server2 now the buildoutput dir is in a specific location in Server1 example E:\BuildOutput\Apps\Application1\Bin\ I need to deploy them in Server2 C:\Program Files\Tools\Application1\Bin\ How do I set up this plugin to work to what i need? I am getting stressed in the amount of files that needs to be deployed to another server, i just wished a simple xcopy tool to another server could work.

• OutputPath ignored on projects being build by TFS 2010

  I have installed TFS2010 Beta 2 with default settings and configured a CI build with a solution containing the indivial projects. My *.cspoj files could have: <OutputPath>bin\debug\</OutputPath> Or alternatively: <OutDir>bin\debug\</OutDir> When the build server is done building and running tests etc. all the assemblies are placed in the root of the build drop off folder. How do I configure the build to keep the outputpath or outdir in my projects and store the assemblies and content in the matching folder structure( builddropfolder\bin\debug\ )? I have found a number of post on this most of them relates to TFS 2008 but I have not found solutions for TFS 2010. Perhaps it is possible to solve this in the new workflow file for the buildserver?

• Jenkins Build fails when artifacts are not there

  I use Jenkins to run some integration tests on a web appilcation (using cucumber, capybara and selenium) Everytime a test fails, a screenshot, the HTML source and a video of the process is saved. the path structure looks like this: results/output/<test_name>/<files> I use the archive artifacts feature of Jenkins to provide the files (pattern: results/output/*/*). It works great. However as soon as a build succeeds, there are no screenshots/videos etc... and the build fails because Jenkins cannot find the files for the pattern. Is there a way to tell Jenkins to succeed without having the files present? I don't want to do a dirty hack which involves creating an empty folder structure like result/output/success/hooray.txt.

• Can you do this with Hudson?

  I want to create a hudson job, that takes an id as a parameter. And use that id to calculate the svn-repo path. Where I work you have a svn path for every issue that you resolve. And then all the issues are joined into a single svn-path. What I want to do is to run static code analysis on the partial issues. So I think maybe having an Ant build.xml that I use for every issue, then, parametrize the job with the issue id. I have tried to achieve that but the svn path doesn't replace the parameter. I have tried with #issueId, %issueId%, ${issueId} and ${env.issueId} without success. • Hudson + gitolite + virtual host on staging server

  I have a Ubuntu server which I want to be my continous integration server (for the Zend Application based projects) and the staging server as well. The team is pushing source files to the repository: /home/git/repositories/testing.git Then Hudson does the build, and the master branch is exported (maybe cloned is a better word) by git hudson plugin to: /var/lib/hudson/jobs/test/workspace/ The workspace contains .git folder as well, which is not necessary on my staging website. How do you set up virtual host to see the staging version of the content of the repository? Does the virtual host point to the workspace, or shall I export the files to another directory? What about the permissions and security? Hudson is the owner of all the workspace files. Do I have to do some post-build actions to set up access? P.S. If this question is more apropriate to serverfault, please migrate.

• Specify artifact version outside of pom

  Is there a way to specify the artifact version outside of the POM file? I have 2 CI projects that build an artifact. One builds a "stable" development version from a 'develop' branch and the other builds an unstable version which is the result of merging all active feature branches into the develop branch. I want the stable version to build as xyz-1.0.jar and the integration build to go in as xyz-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar. Is there a way for the CI job to run a maven task or specify via the command line if a release or snapshot jar should be built without manually modifying the POM? Currently I have the version specified as 1.0 in the pom. I considered using the release plugin but I don't want the automatic version number increase and tagging that it does.

  I have a project with a lot of tests failing, so it would be great for me to receive by email the number of failed tests compare from the latest build. What i need is just the info that appears in the project's page by the test results link: Latest Test Result (10 failures / -2) Is this possible? I've already tried the email-ext plugin, but it is not telling me that info (I can have the list of failing tests with output etc., but I really just need that info above). Any ideas?

• How to flush coverage data when my test cause app crash - For ios app

  I want to get the code coverage of my tests. So I set the settings, build an app with .gcno files and run it on simulator. It can get the coverage data successfully if there is no crash issue. But if the app crashed, I will get nothing. So how can I get the code coverage data when the app crash? In my thought, this is because it will not call __gcov_flush() method when app crash. I only add app does not run in background to my plist file, so __gcov_flush() is called only at the time I press Home button. Is there any way to call __gcov_flush() before the app crash?

When the staging server is down we send a specific response that I could detect in my integration tests. When I get this response instead of failing the tests I'm wondering if it is possible to skip/ignore that test even though it has started running. This would keep our test reports a bit cleaner.   Hi, Currently we have CCService running as a Domain account because the build scripts deploy to a network location. However this causes any unit tests that test the view to fail. Due to not being allowed to interact with desktop. I can change the CCService to run as local system which works however i loose network connectivity. I also have tried setting up a /interactive cmd.exe but this has been deprecated in Windows Server 2008. Any Ideas on this one? Thanks Jeremy

  Hello, We need to write software that would continuously (i.e. new data is sent as it becomes available) send very large files (several Tb) to several destinations simultaneously. Some destinations have a dedicated fiber connection to the source, while some do not. Several questions arise: We plan to use TCP sockets for this task. What failover procedure would you recommend in order to handle network outages and dropped connections? What should happen upon upload completion: should the server close the socket? If so, then is it a good design decision to have another daemon provide file checksums on another port? Could you recommend a method to handle corrupted files, aside from downloading them again? Perhaps I could break them into 10Mb chunks and calculate checksums for each chunk separately? Thanks.

• Junit test that creates other tests

  Normally I would have one junit test that shows up in my integration server of choice as one test that passes or fails (in this case I use teamcity). What I need for this specific test is the ability to loop through a directory structure testing that our data files can all be parsed without throwing an exception. Because we have 30,000+ files that that 1-5 seconds each to parse this test will be run in its own suite. The problem is that I need a way to have one piece of code run as one junit test per file so that if 12 files out of 30,000 files fail I can see which 12 failed not just that one failed, threw a runtimeexception and stopped the test. I realize that this is not a true "unit" test way of doing things but this simulation is very important to make sure that our content providers are kept in check and do not check in invalid files. Any suggestions?

• Stop MSVC++ debug errors from blocking the current process?

  Any failed ASSERT statements on Windows cause the below debug message to appear and freeze the applications execution. I realise this is expected behaviour but it is running periodically on a headless machine so prevent the unit tests from failing, instead waiting on user input indefinitely. Is there s a registry key or compiler flag I can use to prevent this message box from requesting user input whilst still allowing the test to fail under ASSERT? Basically, I want to do this without modifying any code, just changing compiler or Windows options. Thanks!
