• How do I solve this error, "error while trying to deserialize parameter"

  I have a web service that is working fine in one environment but not in another. The web service gets document meta data from SharePoint, it running on a server where I cant debug but with logging I confirmed that the method enters and exits successfully. What could be the reason for the errors?   Given a EF-Code First CTP5 entity layout like: public class Person { ... } which has a collection of: public class Address { ... } which has a single association of: public class Mailbox { ... } I want to do: PersonQuery.Include(x => x.Addresses).Include("Addresses.Mailbox") WITHOUT using a magic string. I want to do it using a lambda expression. I am aware what I typed above will compile and will bring back all Persons matching the search criteria with their addresses and each addresses' mailbox eager loaded, but it's in a string which irritates me. • Discrete and Continuous Classifier on Sparse Data

  I'm trying to classify an example, which contains discrete and continuous features. Also, the example represents sparse data, so even though the system may have been trained on 100 features, the example may only have 12. What would be the best classifier algorithm to use to accomplish this? I've been looking at Bayes, Maxent, Decision Tree, and KNN, but I'm not sure any fit the bill exactly. The biggest sticking point I've found is that most implementations don't support sparse data sets and both discrete and continuous features. Can anyone recommend an algorithm and implementation (preferably in Python) that fits these criteria? Libraries I've looked at so far include: Orange (Mostly academic. Implementations not terribly efficient or practical.) NLTK (Also academic, although has a good Maxent implementation, but doesn't handle continuous features.) Weka (Still researching this. Seems to support a broad range of algorithms, but has poor documentation, so it's unclear what each implementation supports.)

  Hello, here is my dilemma. I have two worksheets one that has the name of clients and one that i want to copy the names to depending on the city. For instance: associated to each column is last name, first name and city. i have hundreds of names associated to different cities and what i would like is from worksheet1.xls to copy all the New York clients to worksheet2.xls either when i open worksheet2 or via macro what ever is easier and because last name is in one cell and the first name is in the other i would have to copy both. I saw that its possible to link cells from one worksheet to another and then do a vlookup depending on the criteria. By default the posts are sorted based on "created date". I have a new requirement from the client asking me to change the sorting criteria to "Published date".   this seems to be a reoccurring issue: we receive a bug report for our software and with it tons of traces or logfiles. since finding errors is much easier when having a visualization of the log messages/events over time it is convenient to use a tool that can display the progression of events in a graph etc. (e.g. wireshark (http://www.wireshark.org) for analyzing network traffic) what tool do you use for such a purpose? the problem with most tools i used so far is that they mercilessly break down when you feed them huge data traces ( 1GB) so some criteria for such a tool would be: can deal with huge input files ( 1 GB) is really fast (so you don't have to get coffee while a file is loading) has some sort of filtering mechanism

• Determining full XHR request URL on a Google Chrome XHR Breakpoint

  I am initiating a jQuery ajax ($.ajax) post, within the Google Chrome browser. I have setup a XHR breakpoint in the "XHR Breakpoints" section of the "Scripts" tab within the Developer Tools. The criteria of the breakpoint is "get" ie. I want the debugger to break on all XHR requests which contain the word "get" in them (somePage.asmx/getListOfAnimals) is an example. The breakpoint is being correctly hit, however I am unable to determine what the exact URL that is being requested. I realize I can remove the breakpoint and see what URL is being requested from the "Network" tab, but I want to know this at the time the breakpoint is hit. I have tried stepping through the XHR request once it has been hit in Chrome, but I must be missing a Javascript object/property which contains the fully requested URL. Google Chrome has detected that the XHR requested URL contains "get" but how do I get to this URL from within the debug session before the request is made?

• Modifying generator.yml views in Symfony

  Hey! I'm currently working on a web app written in Symfony. I'm supposed to add an "export to CSV" feature in the backend/administration part of the app for some modules. In the list view, there should be an "Export" button which should provide the user with a csv file of the elements that are displayed (considering filtering criteria). I've created a method in the actions class of the module that takes a comma separated list of ids and generates the CSV, but I'm not really sure how to add the link to it in the view. The problem is that the view doesn't exist anywhere, it's generated on the fly from the data in the generator.yml configuration file.   Hey, I'm very new to linq and lamba expressions. I'm trying to walk a collection, and when I find an item that meets some criteria I'd like to add that to another separate collection. My linq to walk the collection looks like this (this works fine): From i as MyCustomItem In MyCustomItemCollection Where i.Type = "SomeType" Select i I need each of the select items to then be added to a ListItemCollection, I know I can assign that linq query to a variable, and then do a for each loop adding a new ListItem to the collection, but I'm trying o find a way to add each item to the new ListItemcollection while walking, not a second loop.   I'm trying to get a stored procedure to work using the following syntax: select count(sl.Item_Number) as NumOccurrences from spv3SalesDocument as sd left outer join spv3saleslineitem as sl on sd.Sales_Doc_Type = sl.Sales_Doc_Type and sd.Sales_Doc_Num = sl.Sales_Doc_Num where sd.Sales_Doc_Type='ORDER' and sd.Sales_Doc_Num='OREQP0000170' and sl.Item_Number = 'MCN-USF' group by sl.Item_Number having count (distinct sl.Item_Number) = 0 In this particular case when the criteria is not met the query returns no records and the 'count' is just blank. I need a 0 returned so that I can apply a condition instead of just nothing. I'm guessing it is a fairly simple fix but beyond my simple brain capacity. Any help is greatly appreciated. Wally

  Hi, I need a portable C++ library for doing IPC. I used fork() and SysV shared memory until now but this limits me to Linux/Unix. I found out that there are 3 major C++ libraries that offer a portable solution (including Windows and Mac OS X). I really like Boost, and would like to use it but I need processes and it seems like that this is only an experimental branch until now!? I have never heard of ACE or POCO before and thus I am stuck I do not know which one to choose. I need fork(), sleep() (usleep() would be great) and shared memory of course. Performance and documentation are also important criteria. Thanks, for your Help!

• Searching a set of data with multiple terms using Linq

  I'm in the process of moving from ADO.NET to Linq. The application is a directory search program to look people up. The users are allowed to type the search criteria into a single textbox. They can separate each term with a space, or wrap a phrase in quotes such as "park place" to indicate that it is one term. Behind the scenes the data comes from a XML file that has about 90,000 records in it and is about 65 megs. I load the data into a DataTable and then use the .Select method with a SQL query to perform the searches. The query I pass is built from the search terms the user passed. I split the string from the textbox into an array using a regular expression that will split everything into a separate element that has a space in it. However if there are quotes around a phrase, that becomes it's own element in the array. I then end up with a single dimension array with x number of elements, which I iterate over to build a long query. I then build the search expression below: query = query & _ "((userid LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(nickname LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(lastname LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(firstname LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(department LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(telephoneNumber LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(email LIKE '" & tempstr & "%') OR " & _ "(Office LIKE '" & tempstr & "%'))" Each term will have a set of the above query. If there is more than one term, I put an AND in between, and build another query like above with the next term. I'm not sure how to do this in Linq. So far, I've got the XML file loading correctly. I'm able to search it with specific criteria, but I'm not sure how to best implement the search over multiple terms. 'this works but far too simple to get the job done Dim results = From c In m_DataSet...<Users> _ Where c.<userid>.Value = "XXXX" _ Select c The above code also doesn't use the LIKE operator either. So partial matches don't work. It looks like what I'd want to use is the .Startswith but that appears to be only in Linq2SQL. Any guidance would be appreciated. • Do i *have* to use ObservableCollection in Silverlight WCF client?

  When accessing Silverlight in WCF you get proxies generated with ObservableCollection Thats fine when you're databinding, but a little clumsy when you're just calling a method. For instance the following service method : [OperationContract] public SearchOrdersMsgOut SearchOrders(ShippingStatusType[] shippingStatuses, string[] orderId) { } gets generated with ObservableCollection. What! They're just parameters. Why would I ever want to 'observe' them? I'm fine if I have to do this - but it seems like there should be a way to force simple array structures when I know I'm never databinding - especially on input messages. PS. I do actually use a SearchCriteria object for my search criteria - but I simplified for this example wondering if parameters were handled differently.

  What is the best way to limit the amount of text that a user can enter into a 'textarea' field on a web page? The application in question is ASP .NET, but a platform agnostic answer is preferred. I understand that some amount of javascript is likely needed to get this done as I do not wish to actually perform the 'post' with that amount of data if possible as ASP .NET does have an upper limit to the size of the request that it will service (though I don't know what that is exactly). So maybe the real question is, what's the best way to do this in javascript that will meet the following criteria: -Must work equally well for both users simply typing data and copy/paste'ing data in from another source. -Must be as '508 compliance' friendly as possible.

• Looking for some thoughts on an image printing app

  Hey All, Im looking for thoughts/advice. I have an upcoming project (all .net) that will require the following: pulls data once a day from an online service provider based on certain criteria. saves data locally for reference and reporting the data thats pulled will be used to create gift cards. So after the data is loaded, a process will run to generate "virtual cards" and send them to a network printer. Once printed, the system will updated the local data recording a successful or failed print. My initial thought was to create a windows service to pull the data...but then I couldnt decide how I was going to put a "virtual card" together and get it to print. Then I considered doing it as a WPF app. I figure that will give me access to the graphics and printing ability. Maybe neither of these are the right direction....Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Alex

  I'm chaining search criteria in my application through IQueryable extension methods, e.g.: public static IQueryable<Fish> AtAge (this IQueryable<Fish> fish, Int32 age) { return fish.Where(f => f.Age == age); } However, I also have a full text search stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[Fishes_FullTextSearch] @searchtext nvarchar(4000), @limitcount int AS SELECT Fishes.* FROM Fishes INNER JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(Fishes, *, @searchtext, @limitcount) AS KEY_TBL ON Fishes.Id = KEY_TBL.[KEY] ORDER BY KEY_TBL.[Rank] The stored procedure obviously doesn't return IQueryable, however, is it possible to somehow limit the result set for the stored procedure using IQueryable's? I'm envisioning something like .AtAge(5).AboveWeight(100).Fishes_FulltextSearch("abc"). In this case, the fulltext search should execute on a smaller subset of my Fishes table (narrowed by Age and Weight). Is something like this possible? Sample code?

• Tabexpansion function Does Not Resolve Variable

  I'm attempting to override and implement my own TabExpansion. In the function I want to parse the contents of $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text when a certain $lastword criteria is matched. The issue I have is that the variable $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text is resolved to the contents of my TabExpansion function rather than whatever text is in a PowerShell ISE tab. Here's simple test function. Open an ISE tab and paste the following tabexpansion function definition: function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Run the script in ISE. Next open another tab in ISE type some text and press the tab key The output will be function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Rather than whatever text was in the second tab. Is there any way to get $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text to resolve at runtime when used within a tabexpansion function?

  Hi I am in the process of creating an app that is similar to the build-in SMS app. What I need: - a service that is always running in the background - every 5 min. the service checks the current location of the device and calls a web service - if certain criteria are meet, the service should generate a notification (just like the SMS app) - when the notification is clicked, the user is taken to the app (just like the SMS app) - when the app is installed the service should be started - when the device is rebooted, the service should be started What I have tried: - running a regular service which worked just fine until android kills the service - using the AlarmManager the make the 5 min. interval call to a service. But I was not able to make this work. Any help would be greatly appreciated... -Thomas
