I ask since a project I work on generates a single, monolithic DLL of about 50 MB size.
Does a large library like this one impede performance, or can it bring other gotchas?
I made some changes to my solution which contains a couple of project and wanted to compile it again .. now it says Metadata file C:\myproject\bin\myproject.DLL could not be found...
I closed the VS and opened again and also deleted the bin and obj folder of that project, but still the same compile error...
Hi,
I have a .net 2.0 webservices using .net 2.0 librarys (dll). My config uses assembly binding to use the latest builds,Now the .net2.0 will be migrated to .net 4.0, does this mean i have to move my service to 4.0 as well?

Hi!
I'm using riched32.dll to display and edit rich text. now I would like to draw some custom markings to the text, like for example the red underline in office word displaying wrong spelling. or text marking boxes with rounded corners or something like this.
Of course those markings should scroll properly with the text.
How can I do that?
Thanks!
I have the source for a DLL and I have a compiled version of it lying around somewhere.
If I compile the source it will have a different date to the already-compiled version.
How can I tell whether they are in fact the same and have merely been compiled at different times?
When i tried to connect to Apache Cassandra server using the php code i got an error "Fatal error: Call to undefined function uuid_make()". I can find that PHP UUID extension was missing in PHP installation. Can anyone please suggest from where i can download the DLL file for PHP installation in my Windows 7 Machine.
Windows-based client application and web-client application(consuming the same code which windows-client uses)
what is the preferable pattern for this scenario?
Is it ok to have the code in the common place where both the projects and refer it as dll i.e one which is a windows app and other which is going consume the same code which windows client will be exposing.

Sometime back I used a windows tool to see what a process is doing. This tool allowed me to inspect functions exported from DLL. It also allowed me to change the values passed to a function on the fly.
I cannot recollect the name(not sure if that was free or commercial one). Could any one point to me solution that can do this?
(Tools like ProcessExplorer, ProcessMonitor helps a bit.. this was better)
Cheers,
Jayan

I have a file name, like "Foo.dll," for a library that I know is in the bin directory. I want to create an Assembly object for it. I'm trying to instantiate this object from a class that's not a page, so I don't have the Request object to get the path. How do I get the path I need to use Assembly.Load()?
We have several external dlls being referenced in our Web Application Project. We have a deployment project for installing on the hosting servers. When we were using .net 3.5 and vs2008 the dll were being copied to the bin folder. Since we have upgraded to .net 4 vs2010 this no longer happens and we are getting servers errors since the references cannot be found.
CopyLocal is set to true, and i cannot find anything inside the web.config which suggest this is being set else where.
I have a class library(DLL) which has a web reference, its dynamic.
I have copied the setting into the applicationSettings of the web.config but still it keeps referring to the old URI I had set during develoment.
any idea how i can make it take the URI of the web-service from the web.config?
Hi,
i have a 32-bit exe that needs to dynamically load a 64-bit dll when it detects that the operating system is 64-bit. Is this possible through LoadLibrary? If not, is there another way to accomplish the same goal?
Namely, a DLL name has an extra @8 at the end which is causing trouble. Apparently, using the --kill-at flag in gcc would solve this, but I can't find any similar suggestions for MSVC.
I am trying to package a com dll in an msi. I want the setup to run a batch file afterwards.
The batch file basically points to the WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 folder and runs the regasm command to register the assembly.
How do I get the setup to do this?
Thanks.
I have a Web Project (VS 2008) that references a bunch of DLLs. The DLLs are built separately, so the project references binaries and not DLL projects.
Some of the DLLs have their own app.config, which I want to be copied autmatically to the web project's output directory.
Is there any suitable generic way to achieve this?
Hi,
I am using Visual Studio for a project and Drools.NET and Proxem Antelope both use a DLL IKVM.Runtime but they're both different versions. Thus I do not know what I'm supposed to do to accommodate both of these.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!

I am working on a project which generates an assembly. I just noticed that an additional assembly *.XmlSerializers.dll is being generated. Why this file is auto generated and what it is used for?
I just installed a number of updates to my machine, and am now encountering the following error when I run an asp.net MVC application on my local machine:
Compiler Error Message: CS0006: Metadata file 'C:\WINNT\assembly\GAC_32\System.EnterpriseServices\2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a\System.EnterpriseServices.dll' could not be found
I have removed the reference to this from the project (not really sure why it was there in the first place) but still get the error.
Any idea on how to resolve this?
