  • Time difference in seconds (as a floating point)

    - by pocoa
    >>> from datetime import datetime >>> t1 = datetime.now() >>> t2 = datetime.now() >>> delta = t2 - t1 >>> delta.seconds 7 >>> delta.microseconds 631000 Is there any way to get that as 7.631000 ? I can use time module, but I also need that t1 and t2 variables as DateTime objects. So if there is a way to do it with datettime, that would be great.

  • Why does DateTime to Unix time use a double instead of an integer?

    - by Earlz
    I'm needing to convert a DateTime to a Unix timestamp. So I googled it looking for some example code In just about all the results I see, they use double as the return for such a function, even when explicitly using floor to convert it to an integer. Unix timestamps are always integers. So what problem is there with using either long or int instead of double? static double ConvertToUnixTimestamp(DateTime date) { DateTime origin = new DateTime(1970, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0); TimeSpan diff = date - origin; return Math.Floor(diff.TotalSeconds); }

  • Centered DIV w/ width dependant on text, buffered by two divs that should fill the containing DIV

    - by Andrew Thompson
I have been wracking my brains on this seemingly small issue the whole day. My web dev friends are baffled and I could not find a suitable answer in my search of this site and others (though, I could have missed it somewhere along the way). Here's the problem: 3 DIVS within one fixed-width container DIV The center DIV has text that will be different on other sites The center DIV needs to be centered, and no larger than the text it contains. This is what I'd like to end up with The basic HTMl: <div id="container" > <div id="left" ></div> <div id="center" >Text inside center should resize this block</div> <div id="right" ></div> </div> Below, I removed most of the styles I have tried. This CSS currently centers the DIV (if I set it as an inline block), but I need the other divs to fill the left and right space remaining: #container { width:750px; text-align:center; } #left { background-color:#E85355; } #center { background-color:#CDD7D7; display:inline-block; } #right { background-color:#65A8A6; } I've tried floating, no-wrap, overflow, etc. Thanks a million to whomever can offer some help! • Alignment for 2nd row data

    - by user1736299
    <table> <tr><td>test</td></tr> <tr> <td> <div style= height:200px;"> <div style="border:1px solid yellow; display: inline-block; width:100px"> <img src="orderedList4.png"> </div> <div align="center" style="border:1px solid green; display: inline-block; width:650px;height:100px;"> <div>center Test Header1</div> <div>center Test Header2</div> </div> <div align="right" style="border:1px solid red;display: inline-block; width:100px">REL 1.0</div> </div> </td> </tr> </table> In the above code, the image size is 75*75 pixels. I want to have all the three cells to have a height of 100 pixels. I want the image to be centered and left aligned. The middle text to centered. Third text to centered and right aligned. I could not make it working.

  • Put text directly to the left of an <LI>

    - by Horace Loeb
I have a list of songs, and I want to put the word "New!" to the left of the new songs like this: How can I do this so that all the songs line up? I.e., I want the names of songs that aren't new to line up with the names of songs that are new, not with the start of the word "New" Note that this is trivial if "New!" is an image. I.e., I set the image as the background-image of the <li> and give it some padding-left

  • What's a good way to add a large number of small floats together?

    - by splicer
Say you have 100000000 32-bit floating point values in an array, and each of these floats has a value between 0.0 and 1.0. If you tried to sum them all up like this result = 0.0; for (i = 0; i < 100000000; i++) { result += array[i]; } you'd run into problems as result gets much larger than 1.0. So what are some of the ways to more accurately perform the summation?

  • Are doubles faster than floats in c#?

    - by Trap
I'm writing an application which reads large arrays of floats and performs some simple operations with them. I'm using floats because I thought it'd be faster than doubles, but after doing some research I've found that there's some confusion about this topic. Can anyone elaborate on this? Thanks.

  • Blockquote border on tumblr theme

    - by orange
This is the code for the link block: {block:Link} <div class="post link"> <h2> <a href="{URL}" class="name">{Name}</a></h2> <div class="content"> {block:Description}{Description}{/block:Description} <span class="date"> <a href="{Permalink}">{ShortMonth} {DayOfMonth}, {Year} </a> </span> </div> </div> {/block:Link} What I'm trying to do is add a border-left of of 10px to block quotes. When I try to add this style to block quotes this happens: The block quote border flows into the post title and I don't wish for this to happen, I want the border layout to stay within the content div. I'm using this CSS at the moment: div div div blockquote { border-left: 10px solid red; } Thanks in advance for the help! Just to clarify <div class="post link"> is in another div. • CSS Unwanted padding in IE using floats.

    - by user564176
It's been a long day of designing and I ran into a problem today. The website www.dcninc.com/newtest/security_testing.php is a new design I'm working on at work right now. If you view it in Firefox you will notice there is no padding on the 2 right boxes (I did that on purpose to trouble shoot my problem) However if you view that same page in IE, it adds padding to the right side. Here is my CSS and HTML below. http://pastebin.com/hRxZp9ub http://pastebin.com/YwSYn7ti

  • Which browsers handle `Content-Encoding: gzip` and which of them has any special requirements on encodinq quality?

    - by user1049847
I am creating a "hand made" HTTP 1/0, 1/1 server. I recently integrated zip lib so now I can stream encoded gziped data in and out. I wonder Which major browsers (alive ones - IE6-IE10, Chrome, FF, etc) send Accept-Encoding: deflate, gzip, ... and so can handle Content-Encoding: gzip today? Which of them send any quality expectations? Which of them can send encoded gziped post request and multypart/form data to my server?

  • How do you remove invalid hexadecimal characters from an XML-based data source prior to constructing

    - by Oppositional
Is there any easy/general way to clean an XML based data source prior to using it in an XmlReader so that I can gracefully consume XML data that is non-conformant to the hexadecimal character restrictions placed on XML? Note: The solution needs to handle XML data sources that use character encodings other than UTF-8, e.g. by specifying the character encoding at the XML document declaration. Not mangling the character encoding of the source while stripping invalid hexadecimal characters has been a major sticking point. The removal of invalid hexadecimal characters should only remove hexadecimal encoded values, as you can often find href values in data that happens to contains a string that would be a string match for a hexadecimal character. Background: I need to consume an XML-based data source that conforms to a specific format (think Atom or RSS feeds), but want to be able to consume data sources that have been published which contain invalid hexadecimal characters per the XML specification. In .NET if you have a Stream that represents the XML data source, and then attempt to parse it using an XmlReader and/or XPathDocument, an exception is raised due to the inclusion of invalid hexadecimal characters in the XML data. My current attempt to resolve this issue is to parse the Stream as a string and use a regular expression to remove and/or replace the invalid hexadecimal characters, but I am looking for a more performant solution.

  • Freemarker - lack of special character in email subject template cause email content crash

    - by freakman
im fighting with strange error. Im using seperate freemarker templates for mail subject and body. It is sent using org.springframework.mail.javamail.JavaMailSender. Only templates that contains some special swedish character works in my application ( yes you read right... not the other way). If I delete it my email content crashes. It contains then: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/html;charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit .. html code here .. My freemarker.properties file locale=sv_SE classic_compatible=false number_format= date_format=yyyy-MM-dd time_format=HH:mm datetime_format=yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm output_encoding=UTF-8 url_escaping_charset=UTF-8 auto_import=spring.ftl as spring auto_include= default_encoding=UTF-8 localized_lookup=true strict_syntax=true whitespace_stripping=true template_update_delay=10 Ive tried to convert subject file with dos2unix tool. Using 'find -bi subject.ftl' show that encoding is us-ascii. With added special character - utf-8. This thing is suprisingly strange for me... //SOLUTION: use :set bomb and save file in vim.

  • float** allocation limit + serialized struct problem. Need advice!

    - by jmgunn
basically im getting an allocation limit error/warning when i create a float** array. the function i am calling to fill the float** retrieves data from a struct loaded from a file. The function works fine when i use one object but when i load 2 objects into memory i get the limit error. I am pretty sure this is to do with byte alignment or a similar thing because my struct is saved with a float** member which i am sure you are not susposed to do !?! Please confirm this! The next question i have now is how to save/serialize the float** member of this struct? I cant really afford to put an upper bound on the array ie "float [10000][3]" because i need/want to use this structure as a base for many other types of objects that may have well under the upper bound. Stroking my chin here! Any help/advice will recieve my highest gratitude. BTW these said struct objects will be used in a game/graphics package, the float** is a float[3] array for storing vertices in a model. Much thanks in advance

  • How to rip dvd and arrange files

    - by user23950
I'm ripping a dvd with dvd shrink. There are lots of anime episodes on it. And when I open those .vob files it seems that the episodes are not arranged in one .vob file. Because 1 .vob file has multiple episodes but they are not arranged as ep 1, ep 2, ep 3, etc. Is it possible to edit those files so that the episodes would be arranged

  • Grep a strange acirc character

    - by John Hunt
I have this character appearing in places in some files I have:  (if you can't see it or it looks like a question mark it's the Acirc character (capital A with a circumflex over it)) I simply want to grep replace this char with a space, however when I do this: grep --color -ri  myproject.php Putty gets very confused, as does grep. As I understand it there's probably a way to use an escaped hex code with grep.. does anyone know how? EDIT: The character is showing up on my web page as a weird <?>. The http headers for the page specify utf-8 as does the meta character set and I still see the strange character. In putty it appears as a space (putty also set to utf-8.) When I copy from vim and paste into grep it simply doesn't find it. Cheers, John

  • How to create 1280x720 music video with static pic

    - by monov
I wanna upload a song to youtube, and put a static 1280x720 pic as the video. I'd like the format to be one of the recommended ones. I tried Windows Movie Maker 2.6 but it only generated a 640x480 video. I also tried Windows Live Movie Maker but it put a big black margin around my pic (and unexplicably, produced a video with a slightly lower volume). Do you know any way to do what I need?

  • Why is my ogg bigger then my m4a?

    - by acidzombie24
i am using ffmpeg.exe -i 0123456789 -ab 192k out.m4a ffmpeg.exe -i 0123456789 -f wav - | oggenc2.exe - -r -q 6 -o out.ogg (0123456789 has no extension). My m4a output is 14,608kb while my ogg output is 19,809kb why? AFAIK -q 6 is roughly 192kb. So it should be about even. I could see one file being 1-3mb bigger then the other but 5 is pretty large. the m4a is almost 75% of the ogg! thats a lot! Why is this?

  • Finding out if a FLAC or WAVPACK audio file is NOT originally encoded from a lossy source

    - by cornel
Is there a way of checking that the so-called FLAC or WAVPACK audio file was originally encoded from a lossless source (WAV, CDA, APE, etc.) instead of a lossy source (MP3, AAC, ATRAC, etc.)? Say I have a lossy MP3 audio file (5.17Mb, 87% compressed from its original, source unknown). I then encode it to another lossless format, say FLAC or WAVPACK. The size increases (23.14Mb, 39% compressed from its original, source MP3)! ID tags, etc, remain the same and there's no way of checking the integrity of its origin. How do I go about doing that?

  • convert mp4 to flv. Adobe Medio Encoder Failing.

    - by Derek Adair
Hi, I am trying to encode a .mp4 to a .flv I've tried using the Adobe Media Encoder but the video is lost in the conversion process, leaving me a black screen and some audio. I have yet to find something that can do this successfully for free. I found ffmpeg, which looks promising... but I can't figure out how to get it to work. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. -Thanks.
