  • How do I code a loop for my echo statement?

    - by ggg
    I get only one printed result in the foreach echo loop at the bottom of the page. <?php defined('_JEXEC') or die('Restricted access'); $db =& JFactory::getDBO(); $query0 = "SELECT * FROM `jos_ginfo` WHERE . . . LIMIT 30"; //echo $query0; $db->setQuery($query0); $ginfo = $db->loadObjectList(); //echo //$ginfo[0]; foreach($ginfo as $ginfo[$i]): {$i=0; $i++;} endforeach; echo $db->getErrorMsg(); if(empty($ginfo)){ echo "<center>No game found, try a different entry.</center>"; }else{ $pgndata = array ( $ginfo[$i]->Id); $i=0; foreach($pgndata as $ginfo[$i]->Id): //I am only getting one printed result! { echo "<a href='/index.php?option=com_publishpgn&tactical-game=".$ginfo[$i]->Id."&Itemid=78.html'>\n"; echo "".$ginfo[$i]->White." v. ".$ginfo[$i]->Black." (".$ginfo[$i]->Result.") ".$ginfo[$i]->EventDate." ECO:".$ginfo[$i]->ECO."</a><br>\n"; $i++; } endforeach; //echo "</div>"; } ?>

  • Any ideas on How to search a 2D array quickly?

    - by Tattat
    I jave a 2D array like this, just like a matrix: {{1, 2, 4, 5, 3, 6}, {8, 3, 4, 4, 5, 2}, {8, 3, 4, 2, 6, 2}, //code skips... ... } I want to get all the "4" position, instead of searching the array one by way, and return the position, how can I search it faster / more efficient? thz in advance.

  • Unable to access value of nested array element

    - by John Conde
    I'm having an issue getting the value of a nested array element. Here's what I've got: print_r($environment); // Outputs Array ( [0] => Array ( ['parameter'] => Vibration ['conditions'] => 204 ['method'] => D ) [1] => Array ( ['parameter'] => Immersion ['conditions'] => 104 ['method'] => B ) [2] => Array ( ['parameter'] => Shock ['conditions'] => 213 ['method'] => I ) [3] => Array ( ['parameter'] => Humidity ['conditions'] => 106 ['method'] => - ) ) print_r($environment[0]); // Outputs Array ( ['parameter'] => Vibration ['conditions'] => 204 ['method'] => D ) echo $environment[0]['parameter']; // Nothing Maybe I've been looking at this for too long. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to shorthand array declaration in a method call?

    - by Paul Sasik
    Hi all, This is hopefully a softball syntax question: I need to call a method with an empty Object array for evaluation and set initial state. In C# I would just do this: func(new Object[]{}); In VB.NET I am forced to do this: Dim ctrls() As Control = {} func(ctrls) Is there a way to shorthand the call in VB.NET and have everything happen in one line of code? P.S. VB-bashing will earn bonus points. ;-)

  • Double linking array in Python

    - by cdecker
    Since I'm pretty new this question'll certainly sound stupid but I have no idea about how to approach this. I'm trying take a list of nodes and for each of the nodes I want to create an array of predecessors and successors in the ordered array of all nodes. Currently my code looks like this: nodes = self.peers.keys() nodes.sort() peers = {} numPeers = len(nodes) for i in nodes: peers[i] = [self.coordinator] for i in range(0,len(nodes)): peers[nodes[i%numPeers]].append(nodes[(i+1)%numPeers]) peers[nodes[(i+1)%numPeers]].append(nodes[i%numPeers]) # peers[nodes[i%numPeers]].append(nodes[(i+4)%numPeers]) # peers[nodes[(i+4)%numPeers]].append(nodes[i%numPeers]) The last two lines should later be used to create a skip graph, but that's not really important. The problem is that it doesn't really work reliably, sometimes a predecessor or a successor is skipped, and instead the next one is used, and so forth. Is this correct at all or is there a better way to do this? Basically I need to get the array indices with certain offsets from each other. Any ideas?

  • passing an array of structures (containing two mpz_t numbers) to a function

    - by jerome
    Hello, I'm working on some project where I use the type mpz_t from the GMP C library. I have some problems passing an array of structures (containing mpz_ts) adress to a function : I wille try to explain my problem with some code. So here is the structure : struct mpz_t2{ mpz_t a; mpz_t b; }; typedef struct mpz_t2 *mpz_t2; void petit_test(mpz_t2 *test[]) { printf("entering petit test function\n"); for (int i=0; i < 4; i++) { gmp_printf("test[%d]->a = %Zd and test[%d]->b = %Zd\n", test[i]->a, test[i]->b); } } /* IN MAIN FUNCTION */ mpz_t2 *test = malloc(4 * sizeof(mpz_t2 *)); for (int i=0; i < 4; i++) { mpz_t2_init(&test[i]); // if I pass test[i] : compiler error mpz_set_ui(test[i].a, i); //if test[i]->a compiler error mpz_set_ui(test[i].b, i*10); //same problem gmp_printf("%Zd\n", test[i].b); //prints correct result } petit_test(test); The programm prints the expected result (in main) but after entering the petit_test function produces a segmentation fault error. I would need to edit the mpz_t2 structure array in petit_test. I tried some other ways allocating and passing the array to the function but I didn't manage to get this right. If someone has a solution to this problem, I would be very thankfull! Regards, jérôme.

  • How to deserialize null array to null in c#?

    - by Aen Sidhe
    Here is my class: public class Command { [XmlArray(IsNullable = true)] public List<Parameter> To { get; set; } } When I serialize an object of this class: var s = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Command)); s.Serialize(Console.Out, new Command()); it prints as expected (xml header and default MS namespaces are omitted): <Command><To xsi:nil="true" /></Command> When I took this xml and tried to deserialize it I got stucked, because it always print "Not null": var t = s.Deserialize(...); if (t.To == null) Console.WriteLine("Null"); else Console.WriteLine("Not null"); How to force deserializer to make my list null, if it is null in xml?

  • Accessing items separated by -componentsSeparatedByString

    - by Graeme
    Hi, I have an array gathered by componentsSeparatedByString: that looks like the following when I use po in the GDB after the array has gone through componentsSeparatedByString: "\n\t\t <b>Suburb, </b> BAIRNSDALE", "\n\t\t <b>Address, </b> 15K NW BAIRNSDALE", "\n\t\t <b>Reference, </b> MELWOOD/SCHOOL ROAD", "\n\t\t <b>Last Changed, </b> 09/04/10 05, 29, 00 PM", "\n\t\t <b>Type, </b> HOME", "\n\t\t <b>Status, </b> BUILT", "\n\t\t <b>Property Size, </b> 2.00 HA.", "\n\t\t <b>Residents, </b> 2", "\n\t\t <b>First Added Date/Time, </b> 09/04/10 03, 15, 00 PM", "\n\t\t\t" Only problem is, I now can't figure out where to go from here. I need to be able to access each of these items (i.e. type, status, property size) separately rather than just calling the entire array (i.e. currentProperty.status). How do I do this? Also what's with all the n\t\t\t things - how do I get rid of them? Thanks.

  • Import and Export for CSV are both broken in Mathematica

    - by dreeves
    Consider the following 2 by 2 array: x = {{"a b c", "1,2,3"}, {"i \"comma-heart\" you", "i \",heart\" u, too"}} If we Export that to CSV and then Import it again we don't get the same thing back: Import[Export["tmp.csv", d]] Looking at tmp.csv it's clear that the Export didn't work, since the quotes are not escaped properly. According to the RFC which I presume is summarized correctly on Wikipedia's entry on CSV, the right way to export the above array is as follows: a b c, "1,2,3" "i ""heart"" you", "i "",heart"" u, too" Importing the above does not yield the original array either. So Import is broken as well. I've reported these bugs to [email protected] but I'm wondering if others have workarounds in the meantime. One workaround is to just use TSV instead of CSV. I tested the above with TSV and it seems to work (even with tabs embedded in the entries of the array).

  • printing out prime numbers from array

    - by landscape
    I'd like to print out all prime numbers from an array with method. I can do it with one int but don't know how to return certain numbers from array. Thanks for help! public static boolean isPrime(int [] tab) { boolean prime = true; for (int i = 3; i <= Math.sqrt(tab[i]); i += 2) if (tab[i] % i == 0) { prime = false; break; } for(int i=0; i<tab.length; i++) if (( tab[i]%2 !=0 && prime && tab[i] > 2) || tab[i] == 2) { return true; } else { return false; } //return prime; } thanks both of you. Seems like its solved: public static void isPrime(int[] tab) { for (int i = 0; i < tab.length; i++) { if (isPrimeNum(tab[i])) { System.out.println(tab[i]); } } } public static boolean isPrimeNum(int n) { boolean prime = true; for (long i = 3; i <= Math.sqrt(n); i += 2) { if (n % i == 0) { prime = false; break; } } if ((n % 2 != 0 && prime && n > 2) || n == 2) { return true; } else { return false; } }

  • Compact a given array problem

    - by Bragaadeesh
    Dont know whether this is a duplicate, but this was an interview question asked to me. Given an array of random numbers and -1 placed inbetween, I have to compact the array meaning all the -1s are to be replaced and the final output should be the last valid index with the fresh array. For example. Input: 3 4 -1 -1 -1 5 8 -1 8 Output: 3 4 5 8 8 5 8 -1 8 and last valid index is 4 Input: -1 -1 -1 -1 -1 2 Output: 2 -1 -1 -1 -1 2 and last valid index is 0 Input: -1 -1 -1 3 3 3 Output: 3 3 3 3 3 3 and last valid index is 2 You should not swap the values just the last valid index along with the array is enough to decipher the non negative values.

  • Efficient way of calculating average difference of array elements from array average value

    - by Saysmaster
    Is there a way to calculate the average distance of array elements from array average value, by only "visiting" each array element once? (I search for an algorithm) Example: Array : [ 1 , 5 , 4 , 9 , 6 ] Average : ( 1 + 5 + 4 + 9 + 6 ) / 5 = 5 Distance Array : [|1-5|, |5-5|, |4-5|, |9-5|, |6-5|] = [4 , 0 , 1 , 4 , 1 ] Average Distance : ( 4 + 0 + 1 + 4 + 1 ) / 5 = 2 The simple algorithm needs 2 passes. 1st pass) Reads and accumulates values, then divides the result by array length to calculate average value of array elements. 2nd pass) Reads values, accumulates each one's distance from the previously calculated average value, and then divides the result by array length to find the average distance of the elements from the average value of the array. The two passes are identical. It is the classic algorithm of calculating the average of a set of values. The first one takes as input the elements of the array, the second one the distances of each element from the array's average value. Calculating the average can be modified to not accumulate the values, but caclulating the average "on the fly" as we sequentialy read the elements from the array. The formula is: Compute Running Average of Array's elements ------------------------------------------- RA[i] = E[i] {for i == 1} RA[i] = RA[i-1] - RA[i-1]/i + A[i]/i { for i > 1 } Where A[x] is the array's element at position x, RA[x] is the average of the array's elements between position 1 and x (running average). My question is: Is there a similar algorithm, to calculate "on the fly" (as we read the array's elements), the average distance of the elements from the array's mean value? The problem is that, as we read the array's elements, the final average value of the array is not known. Only the running average is known. So calculating differences from the running average will not yield the correct result. I suppose, if such algorithm exists, it probably should have the "ability" to compensate, in a way, on each new element read for the error calculated as far.

  • How to pull data from a MySQL column and put it into a single array

    - by Rob
    Basically, this is what I currently use in an included file: $sites[0]['url'] = "http://example0.com"; $sites[1]['url'] = "http://example1.com"; $sites[2]['url'] = "http://example2.com"; $sites[3]['url'] = "http://example3.com"; $sites[4]['url'] = "http://example4.com"; $sites[5]['url'] = "http://example5.com"; And so I output it like so: foreach($sites as $s) But I want to make it easier to manage via a MySQL database. So my question is, how can I make it automatically add additional "$sites[x]['url'] = "http://examplex.com";" and output it appropriately from my MySQL table?

  • How to scan an array for certain information

    - by Andrew Martin
    I've been doing an MSc Software Development conversion course, the main language of which is Java, since the end of September. We have our first assessed practical coming and I was hoping for some guidance. We have to create an array that will store 100 integers (all of which are between 1 and 10), which are generated by a random number generator, and then print out ten numbers of this array per line. For the second part, we need to scan these integers, count up how often each number appears and store the results in a second array. I've done the first bit okay, but I'm confused about how to do the second. I have been looking through the scanner class to see if it has any methods which I could use, but I don't see any. Could anyone point me in the right direction - not the answer, but perhaps which library it comes from? Code so far: import java.util.Random; public class Practical4_Assessed { public static void main(String[] args) { Random numberGenerator = new Random (); int[] arrayOfGenerator = new int[100]; for (int countOfGenerator = 0; countOfGenerator < 100; countOfGenerator++) arrayOfGenerator[countOfGenerator] = numberGenerator.nextInt(10); int countOfNumbersOnLine = 0; for (int countOfOutput = 0; countOfOutput < 100; countOfOutput++) { if (countOfNumbersOnLine == 10) { System.out.println(""); countOfNumbersOnLine = 0; countOfOutput--; } else { System.out.print(arrayOfGenerator[countOfOutput] + " "); countOfNumbersOnLine++; } } } } Thanks, Andrew

  • Can I put some form of If..End blocks inside of a hash definition?

    - by Benjamin Manns
    I am creating a web application to integrate with Chargify. I want to return a hash with customer_id set if the user has a customer associated with the account, and customer_attributes if a customer has to be created. Is there any way that I could do this with an if..end block inside of the hash definition. For example, I would be wanting to do something like the following (does not work): def subscription_params(product_id) { :product_id => product_id, if customer_id.nil? :customer_attributes => customer_params, else :customer_id => customer_id, end :credit_card_attributes => credit_card_params } end

  • NSString stringWithFormat: with C array?

    - by Chris Long
    Hi, I'm writing a program that calculates the Jacobi algorithm. It's written in Objective-C since it runs on a Mac, but the majority is written in standard C. I'm using a two-dimensional C array and an NSArray containing 5 NSTextField labels. The following code yields an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error: for ( int i = 0; i < 5; i++ ) { NSString *resultString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%g", matrix[i][i] ]; [[resultLabels objectAtIndex:i] setStringValue:resultString]; // error line } Any help?

  • Can't access dojo object property using string variable

    - by Kareem
    I am retrieving a json associative array using a dojo xhrGet request. The data comes back just fine, however I need the app to be able to display the keys and their properties (or values) without knowing the keys beforehand. So, I do the following: function getData() { dojo.xhrGet( { url: "ytd_process.php", handleAs: "json", load: function(response) { for (var key in response) { dojo.byId("boxes").innerHTML+="<div id=\"box\">"+key+":"+response.key+"</div>"; } console.dir(response); // Dump it to the console } }); }; The keys are retrieved and displayed on the page, but the response.key returns undefined. I know the syntax is correct because if I replace .key with an actual key value it will display correctly. It appears it doesn't like a string as the key. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • How do I find, count, and display unique elements of an array using Perl?

    - by Luke
    I am a novice Perl programmer and would like some help. I have an array list that I am trying to split each element based on the pipe into two scalar elements. From there I would like to spike out only the lines that read ‘PJ RER Apts to Share’ as the first element. Then I want to print out the second element only once while counting each time the element appears. I wrote the piece of code below but can’t figure out where I am going wrong. It might be something small that I am just overlooking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ## CODE ## my @data = ('PJ RER Apts to Share|PROVIDENCE', 'PJ RER Apts to Share|JOHNSTON', 'PJ RER Apts to Share|JOHNSTON', 'PJ RER Apts to Share|JOHNSTON', 'PJ RER Condo|WEST WARWICK', 'PJ RER Condo|WARWICK'); foreach my $line (@data) { $count = @data; chomp($line); @fields = split(/\|/,$line); if (($fields[0] =~ /PJ RER Apts to Share/g)){ @array2 = $fields[1]; my %seen; my @uniq = grep { ! $seen{$_}++ } @array2; my $count2 = scalar(@uniq); print "$array2[0] ($count2)","\n" } } print "$count","\n"; ## OUTPUT ## PROVIDENCE (1) JOHNSTON (1) JOHNSTON (1) JOHNSTON (1) 6
