  • Baby steps to get into Android application development

    I am in my semester vacation and i am looking to spend some time in learning how to develop Android application since this market is on fire these days, i have a background with programming and would like you to suggest ways or even sites that use baby steps tutorials to get an idea ( and hopefully ) create android application.     I am trying to make a call button that will call 18 which is Fire Dept in France. So my code is : [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"tel://18"]]; It doesn't work and I get this message in the console : < warning Ignoring unsafe request to open URL tel://18 But I saw other application that have the same button fully working ! I am trying this on the device of course. What am I missing ?

I've already tried Worksheet_Change(), as described at http://www.contextures.com/xlfaqmac.html#WSChange However, this won't work: it only fires when the user changes the value. I want to fire it whenever the value changes, i.e. whenever the spreadsheet recalculates. Any ideas?

    Hello all, I have a UIPickerView implemented in one of my pages that depends on the didSelectRow delegate method. An odd behavior I have noticed is when the user moves a wheel and leaves it between selections, then the wheel will move very slowly to the closest selection. The didSelectRow event will not fire until this is complete, sometimes 3 seconds later. Is there a way to speed this up, or detect when the wheel is being moved, so I can freeze my interface during this time?

    I'm using javascript to generate a high resolution grid for an image that I generated on a web server. The high-resolution grid is composed of a 'map' element with hundreds of 'area' child elements. Each 'area' element has onmouseover attribute that causes the display of a popup box. After assigning the map to the img (via the usemap attribute), Internet explorer ignores the 'onmouseover' attribute of the area elements that I added via javascript. The behavior is not caused by syntactical variations between IE and other browsers. A static map behaves correctly. Only the elements that I add dynamically to an existing image map fail to fire their corresponding mouse-over events.     Hello, I'm testing my App and in a very simple view, each time a tap on a UITableView row, my allocation overall bytes get higher and higher and never go downs. I don't have any special code there, so I created a new project from scratch with a very simple view, force one section and just three rows. In the didSelectRowAtIndexPath code do nothing, and fire it with instruments and memory allocation and, the memory goes up with every cell selection ... I would like the user not to be able press the key continuously rather would like the user have to press then release the key board to type a character ! so that following case do not occur eg : pppppppppppppppppppppppp when user presses 'p' for 1 sec.
