• Multi subnet in ubuntu with dnsmasq

  I have a multi lan port box that install ubuntu server 11.10. I am setup network in /etc/network/interfaces file as follow: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static      address 192.168.128.254      netmask 255.255.255.0      network 192.168.128.0      broadcast 192.168.128.255      gateway 192.168.128.1      dns-nameservers xxxxxx auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static      address 192.168.11.1      netmask 255.255.255.0      network 192.168.11.0      broadcast 192.168.11.255 auto eth2 iface eth2 inet static      address 192.168.21.1      netmask 255.255.255.0      network 192.168.21.0      broadcast 192.168.21.255 auto eth3 iface eth3 inet static      address 192.168.31.1      netmask 255.255.255.0      network 192.168.31.0      broadcast 192.168.31.255 I am also enable the ip forward by echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/if_forward in rc.local. my dnsmasq config as follow except-interface=eth0 dhcp-range=interface:eth1,set:wifi,192.168.11.101,192.168.11.200,255.255.255.0 dhcp-range=interface:eth2,set:kids,192.168.21.101,192.168.21.200,255.255.255.0 dhcp-range=interface:eth3,set:game,192.168.31.101,192.168.31.200,255.255.255.0 the dhcp was working fine in eth1,eth2,eth3, any machine plug in the subnet can get correct subnet's ip. My problem was, each subnet machine can't ping each other. for example. 192.168.11.101 can't ping 192.168.21.101 but can ping 192.168.128.1 192.168.31.101 can't ping 192.168.21.101 but can ping 192.168.128.1 I am also try to using route add -net 192.168.11.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.11.1 (and also 192.168.21.0/192.168.31.0) at this multi-lan-port machine. But still won't work. Does anyone can help ? Thanks.

I've currently got them set up as black text with some white drop shadow, but it's still pretty hard to read in IE.   TLDR I need to change a javascript variable on the same page after clicking a link (can be from a different page) so that the getjson request pulls different data without having to duplicate on html pages. I am using some getJSON requests with Jquery, to make calls to populate my pages. I want to be able to (in plain HTML / javascript) when the user clicks say "link 1" or "link 2" to open the same page (say page.html) but change the get request url to "link 1" or "link 2". Page.html var url = ??; $.getJSON(url, function(data){} link 1 var url = host/link1 <a href="page.html">link1</a> link2 var url = host/link2 <a href="page.html">link2</a> So I call the same page but am able to populate it with different content. Purposely staying away from asp. Was thinking maybe of inserting the content into a div after page load so the url can be set or something along those lines. Any ideas how I might go about this?

  I've not dealt much with IIS rewrites, but I was able to import (and edit) the rewrites found throughout the cake structure (.htaccess files). I'll explain my configuration a little, then get to the meat of the problem. So my Cake php framework is working well and made possible by the url rewrite module 2.0 which I have successfully installed and configured for the site. My goal is this- Create a couple of rewrite rules that will [#1] redirect all user pages (in this general form http://domain.com/users/page/param/param/?querystring=value ) to use SSL and then [#2} direct all other https requests to use http (is this is even necessary?).   I have URLs like http://example.com/depict?smiles=CO&width=200&height=200 (and with several other optional arguments) My urls.py contains: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^$', 'cansmi.index'), (r'^cansmi$', 'cansmi.cansmi'), url(r'^depict$', cyclops.django.depict, name="cyclops-depict"), I can go to that URL and get the 200x200 PNG that was constructed, so I know that part works. In my template from the "cansmi.cansmi" response I want to construct a URL for the named template "cyclops-depict" given some query parameters. I thought I could do {% url cyclops-depict smiles=input_smiles width=200 height=200 %} where "input_smiles" is an input to the template via a form submission. In this case it's the string "CO" and I thought it would create a URL like the one at top. This template fails with a TemplateSyntaxError: Caught an exception while rendering: Reverse for 'cyclops-depict' with arguments '()' and keyword arguments '{'smiles': u'CO', 'height': 200, 'width': 200}' not found. This is a rather common error message both here on StackOverflow and elsewhere. In every case I found, people were using them with parameters in the URL path regexp, which is not the case I have where the parameters go into the query. That means I'm doing it wrong. How do I do it right? That is, I want to construct the full URL, including path and query parameters, using something in the template. • How to manage sub-domains on WinHost with IIS7 URL Rewrite 2.0?

  I'm trying out WinHost and I'm running into some issues with sub-domains. On WinHost, you can have multiple sub-domains per hosting account, but each sub-domain points to the root website. E.g. you can have www.example.com, sub1.example.com, and sub2.example.com but all of them display the content at http://www.example.com/. Other Hosts allow you to point sub-domains to a sub folder in your website. This would allow you to point sub1.example.com to /sub1, sub2.example.com to /sub2 and www.example.com to /. WinHost recommends using an asp/aspx page to redirect http://sub1.example.com to http://sub1.example.com/sub1, which points to /sub1. While that would work, I'd like to not have the subdomain in the url twice. So I tried using IIS7 URL Rewrite to point http://sub1.example.com to /sub1. Ben Powell describes this in detail on his blog. This is great, except Request.ApplicationPath is now /sub1/path/to/current/page.aspx, which breaks ASP.Net Themes (and probably other stuff too). What can I do to fix the ApplicationPath? Is there a better way to accomplish this?

If you are using a Web Service Data Control(WSDC), you can do this in more than one ways. • Multi MVC processing vs Single MVC process

  I've worked fairly extensively with the MVC framework cakephp, however I'm finding that I would rather have my pages driven by the multiple MVC than by just one MVC. My reason is primarily to maintain an a more DRY principle. In CakePHP MVC: you call a URL which calls a single MVC, which then calls the layout. What I want is: you call a URL, it processes a layout, which then calls multiple MVC's per component/block of html on the page. When you compare JavaScript components, AJAX, and server side HTML rendering, it seems the most consistent method for building pages is through blocks of components or HTML views. That way, the view block could be situated either on the server or the client. This is technically my ONLY disagreement with the MVC model. Outside of this, IMHO MVC rocks! My question is: What other RAD frameworks follow the same principles as MVC but are driven rather by the View side of MVC? I've looked at Django and Ruby on Rails, yet they seems to be more Controller driven. Lift/Scala appears to be somewhat of a good fit, but i'm interested to see what others exist.

  In any browser if I use www.mysite.com or just mysite.com the web page is correctly retrieved, but I am having trouble with Google Analytics and Facebook App. Facebook: To be able to get Likes, I create the Facebook App needed and set the site URL to http://mysite.com/. Using their tool http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ when I test my page using http://mypage.com it works but using http://www.mypage.com fails with the message: Object at URL 'http://www.mysite.com/' of type 'website' is invalid because the domain 'www.mysite.com' is not allowed for the specified application id. Google Analytics: To be able to get traffic statistics, I created a Property and a Profile both with the URL http://www.mypage.com and no statistics were gathered in a week, when I changed the configured URL to http://mypage.com statistics where available a few hours later. What should I do to have statistics and likes for both www.mysite.com and mysite.com ??

  I have a site which has a default url say "http://www.blahblah.com/" (which is default in english language). In my site there is support for multi languages. I am having few links at my home page say "English" "French" "Spanish" etc. and on clicking these links user is redirected to these links: http://www.blahblah.com/en-us/ (English) http://www.blahblah.com/fr-ca/ (French) http://www.blahblah.com/spanish-culture/ (Spanish) and based on culture in the url I am showing the content accordingly to end users in their desired language. Now, this was how my site is. The issue I am getting is with SEO. I noticed Google is considering (I checked via Google web masters) my site pages as duplicate like: 1. http://www.blahblah.com/documents/ and http://www.blahblah.com/en-us/documents/ 2. http://www.blahblah.com/news/ and http://www.blahblah.com/en-us/news and similarly all the pages are considered as a duplicate content in Google webmasters tools. I am worried of this, since I think my site is getting penalized in ranking because of this. Could you drop some idea how to overcome this situation?

• SH404SEF URLs in Joomla 1.5

  I have two modules to play with urls, the global configuration module and the sh404sef module. The global config is set to "Sef urls: YES" and "mod rewrite enabled: YES" and the sh404sef is set "url optimization: NO". My problem is, even with "Sef urls" set in the global config, my urls still don't seem to be that "user friendly" so I turn on the "Url optimization" using the sh404sef module, and I get better descriptive urls. However, the problem I inherit from doing this is that my dynamically populated chronoforms get messed up (only the chrono forms, other forms are fine); These forms are now showing up at the homepage instead of their own reserved page. Here's an example: Old form "GOOD" url: http://www.mycraftwork.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=94 New optimized "BAD" URL: http://www.mycraftwork.com/handthrown-pottery/alladin-teapot/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=94 Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! • What should filenames and URLs of images contain for SEO benefit?

  We know that good site architecture usually looks like this: example-company.com/ example-company.com/about/ example-company.com/contact/ example-company.com/products/ example-company.com/products/category/ example-company.com/products/category/productname/ Now, when it comes to Google Image search, it is clear that the img alt tag, filename/URL, and surrounding text (captions, headings, paragraphs) have an effect on ranking. I want to ask about the filename of the images that we should use (e.g. product-photo.jpg). ...but first about the URL: Often web developers stick all images in a single folder in the root: example-company.com/img/ — and I have stopped doing that. (I don't want to get into it, but basically, it seems more semantic for images which make up part of the content at each sub-directory) However, when all images appear in a folder, I feel that their filename needs to reflect what they are a bit more than usual, for example: example-company.com/img/example-company-productname-category.jpg It's a longer filename than just product.png, but as long as it's relevant, I see no problem with regards to SEO (unless you're keyword stuffing), and it could even help rank for keywords: "example company" "productname" "category" So no questions there. But what about when we have places images in the site architecture we outlined at the beginning? In other words, what if image URL paths look like this: example-company.com/products/category/productname/productname.jpg My question is, should the URL be kept short like above and only have the "productname" (and some descriptive keywords) as part of it's filename? Or, should it also include the "example-company" and "category"? Like so: example-company.com/products/category/productname/example-company-category-productname.jpg That seems much longer, and redundant when we look at the URL, but here are a few considerations. Images are often downloaded onto computers, and, to the average user, they lose their original URL and thus — it isn't clear where they came from. Also, some social networks, forums, and other platforms leave the filename intact when uploaded. (Many others rewrite it, for example, Pinterest and Facebook.) Another consideration, will this really help (even if ever so slightly) rank in Google Image Search, or at least inform Google that the product is something specific to the "example-company"? For example, what if this product can only be bought at this store and is the flagship product? In addition to an abundance of internal links to this product page, would having the "example company" name and "category" help it appear in "example company" searches? In other words, is less more?

I tried: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} rsform RewriteRule ^(.+)$ http://watervriendengeleen.nl/joomla/ [L,R=301] And other URL related rewrites like Redirect /joomla/index.php?option=com_rsform&formId=12&Itemid=99999 http://sitename.com/formulieren/index.php?option=com_rsform&formId=12&Itemid=99999 which didn't work either. Any thoughts?

• Need a little help with sound in a JApplet

  I am working on a solitaire game in Java, and i need to implement sound when the desk is shuffled, card flipped, etc. I used the following sites as reference to try and get it to work, but i am getting Null Pointer Exceptions or mishandled URL exception (depending on what i tweak). here Also, i am using netbeans 6.7.1 as my IDE.   I'm having an issue with the Flex XML object type mangling multi-byte characters (such as Japanese or Chinese characters). The basic setup is this. I'm getting an XML-formatted string from the server, and in that string there can be multi-byte characters. A lot of the time, these characters are in attributes, for example: <example id="foo" name="[some multi-byte characters]"/> Now, when I examine the raw string, the multi-byte characters display just fine. However, as soon as I convert the string to an XML object using the top-level XML() function, all the multi-byte characters become mangled. I've tried setting the XML's encoding by including an <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> element in the XML-formatted string, but this doesn't seem to have any effect on the resulting XML object. Is there a way to get the XML object to respect the encoding of the XML-formatted string and prevent the multi-byte characters from being mangled?

  is there any way to hide redirected url, here is what I think: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}&force So the long redirected url http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} to something shorter like /mintedomain.com/track/ It is possible? Adrian edit: Andrew: This is a stats software Mint (haveamint.com) with File Download tracker plugin. The File Download tracker works in this way: in .htaccess every file (zip, rar, txt,...) is redirected to the tracker.php file (because the stats): http://mydomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} So the redirected url look like this for a zip file: http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php?url=http://mydomain/downloads/apple.zip This redirected URL is very long and ugly. The best for me would be to redirect this redirected URL to something shorter URL: example: http://mydomain.com/track/downloads/apple.zip.. So the http://mydomain.com/track would be the http://minteddomain.com/mint/pepper/tillkruess/downloads/tracker.php

Will multi-threading increases the speed of the calculation. Do we get culculation result faster when we calculate through multi-threading. what about on multi cores, will multi threading increse the speed or not. Please help me.   If you are trying to update a hyperlink/url type of column of a SharePoint list item using PowerShell and are getting the exception:Unable to index into an object of type Microsoft.SharePoint.SPListItem.At C:\mypowershell.ps1:39 char:10+       $item[ <<<< "Website"] = $itemUrl          + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (RW_Website:String) [], RuntimeException    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CannotIndexThen look no further :)The url is basically stored like a simple string with url, description divided by comma.So all you need to do is:$myUrl = "http://www.google.com, Google"$listitem["Link"] = $myUrlThat will, assuming "Link" is a type of "Hyperlink or Picture" (Hyperlink), create a link that says Google and links to http://www.google.com.Also make sure you don't miss out on the 'http://' part as without that the value will not pass the SharePoint validation of allowed values.
