Integrated capture is unique in the industry and unique to the Oracle database. It is not available on any other database platform. This new feature moves GoldenGate’s capture capabilities closer to the Oracle Database engine and is the foundation for Oracle GoldenGate on the Oracle Database platform over the long term. It is important to note that Integrated Capture does not replace our classic Capture process. Both are available on the Oracle Database platform. The Integrated Capture mechanism relies on Oracle’s internal log parsing and processing to capture DML transactions. By moving closer to the Oracle Database engine, Oracle GoldenGate can take advantage of new Oracle Database features and functionality more quickly. For example, this new mechanism allows GoldenGate to support advanced features such as compression. Integrated Capture provides support for all flavors of Oracle compression, including hybrid columnar compression (EHCC) on Exadata, where as our “Classic” capture would not. Integrated Capture supports two different deployment configurations; On-Source and Downstream. The on-source deployment model is what most customers are familiar with. Oracle GoldenGate is executing on the database server capturing changes in real time. This is the default deployment method. The other option is downstream, where the source database and the Oracle GoldenGate Capture process are on different machines. This method effectively off-loads the processing requirements to a second machine. • Photo gallery for Blogspot blog

  I don't think this is entirely possible, but here we go: I have a friend who has a Blogspot blog. He has posts with text, posts with videos and posts with photos... and he was wondering if there's any way to turn the posts which are just photos into a thumbnail gallery screen on his blog. So for example, let's say he has 20 photo posts on his blog with the label Skiing Holiday 2009 (horrible example, I know). Is there a way of having a post created for his blog that displays those photos as thumbnails, linking through to their full size versions? I just don't think it's possible, but I'm really hoping someone will be able to offer a solution (or even a place where I could find a solution). Thanks a lot.

• Turn Chrome’s New Tab Page into an Ubuntu Forums Powerhouse

  There’s a lot of start page plug-ins for Google Chrome, but if you’re an Ubuntu Forums enthusiast, you might be interested in the powerful UbuntuForums.org Start Page extension. Using the Ubuntu Forums Chrome Start Page Once you’ve installed the extension and opened a new tab, you’ll notice quite a difference from the boring default “New Tab Page”. While you may look at this and wonder if what you see is all that there is to it, there’s actually a lot of hidden customization and functionality. The upper left corner is where you will control the content displayed in the “Ubuntu New Tab Page”. The “Buttons Toolbar” that you see at the top lets you shift between the types of content viewed, from RSS feeds to bookmarks and more. This entire set of links provides direct links to the appropriate section in the Ubuntu Forums. As with the set of links pictured above each of these will open in a new tab when clicked on. There’s even a feature to browse wallpapers from DesktopNexus with categories on the left and pictures to the right. If you want to return to the regular layout you should use the “Start Page Link” highlighted here. Options The options will allow you to customize the colors shown in the “Ubuntu New Tab Page” to create a very nice match to your current browser and/or system theme if desired. You can also do some customization to the fonts, “Bookmark Shortcuts”, and populate the “Custom Links Section” in the main page. Conclusion If you are an Ubuntu enthusiast then this will be a very useful extension to add to your browser. The wealth of direct links and built-in functionality make this extension worth trying.   While writing a Perl statement like if ( $foo >= X && $foo <= Y ) yet again, I wondered why many programming languages do not support the more comfortable form if ( X <= $foo <= Y ) and what this is called. I came up with "3-legged comparison" but no results when searching for it. By the way there is also the "element-of-set" form if ( $foo in X..Y ) which I only consider more readable when provided via a short keyword. Is there a term for X <= $foo <= Y comparison? Which languages support it?

Even with fullscreen, I have to scroll about every 10-15 seconds. Without smooth scroll, I have to spend a half second or so to "find" my place.
