  • Need some help/advice on WCF Per-Call Service and NServiceBus interop.

    I have WCF Per-Call service wich provides data for clients and at the same time is integrated with NServiceBus. All statefull objects are stored in UnityContainer wich is integrated into custom service host. NServiceBus is configured in service host and uses same container as service instances. Every client has its own instance context(described by Juval Lowy in his book in chapter about Durable Services). If i need to send request over bus I just use some kind of dispatcher and wait response using Thread.Sleep().Since services are per-call this is ok afaik. But I am confused a bit about messages from bus, that service must handle and provide them to clients. For some data like stock quotes I just update some kind of statefull object and and then, when clients invoke GetQuotesData() just provide data from this object. But there are numerous service messages like new quote added and etc. At this moment I have an idea to implement something like "Postman daemon" =)) and store this type of messages in instance context. Then client will invoke "GetMail()",recieve those messages and parse them. Problem is that NServiceBus messages are "Interface based" and I cant pass them over WCF, so I need to convert them to types derieved from some abstract class. Dunno what is best way to handle this situation. Will be very gratefull for any advice on this. Thanks in advance.

  • Interacting with system commands using a web dev language

    Hi all, First of all, sorry for the vague title. Let me explain. At work we're currently using SunGrid I've been assigned a project to create a web interface wrapper for interacting with the engine. i.e. displaying users jobs, submitting jobs via a nice GUI etc. (most of the sgrid commands output xml which is nice) My question for you chaps is the following: What web dev language would you use to interact with the system? i.e. use the language to do a system call and evaluate the response. I'm not after an argument on which language is best, I just would like to know which language is specifically good for interacting with the system and is also good for web dev.

  • Which number of processes will give me the best performance ?

    I am doing some expensive caluations right now. It is one programm, which I run several instances of at the same time. I am running them under linux on a machine with 4 cpus with 6 cores each. The cpus are Intel Xeon X5660, which support hyper thearting. (That's some insane hardware, huh?) Right now I am running 24 processes at once. Would it be better to run more, b/c of HT ?

  • Distributed datastore

    We're trying to add some kind of persistence in our app. The app generates about 250 entries per second. Each of these entries belong to one of 2M files. For each file, we want to keep the last 10 entries, so we can look them up later. The way our client application works : it gets a stream of all the data it fetches the right file (GET) it adds the new content it saves the file back (PUT) We're looking for an efficient way to store this data that can scale horizontally as the amount of data we're getting is doubling every few weeks. We initially looked at S3. It works fine, but becomes very expensive very fast ($1000 monthly just in PUT operations!) We then gave a shot at Riak. But it seems we can't get more than 60 write/sec on each node, which is very very slow. Any other solution out there?

  • Consuming Web Services in Netbeans

    Hi. I've setup a project in Netbeans 6.5 with some web services that I've created myself and some web services that I've imported from WSDL files. I've setup a couple of desktop application through Netbeans in order to consume these web services. I'm not too sure where to go from here. I have the GUI setup but not sure how to reference the web services so they can be consumed. I was wondering would anybody be able to guide me through this process or point me in the direction of a relevant tutorial. I'd also like to learn how to consume a web service through a JSP (also created in Netbeans) if possible. Thanks.

  • How do I call exec in psake to an executable with a variable path?

    I can't seem to call this executable correctly in my psake deploy script. If I do this: exec { "$ArchiverOutputDir\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install" } It simply outputs this (and is clearly not calling the executable - just outputting the value of that expression): c:\ReloDotNet2_ServiceEndpoints\Archiver\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install But if I do this: exec { c:\ReloDotNet2_ServiceEndpoints\Archiver\NServiceBus.Host.exe /install } I get the expected output from the executable. How do I correctly call an executable with a variable in the path to the executable in psake? If this is actually a PowerShell issue, please feel free to correct the question to reflect that insight.   • Best strategy for moving data between physical tiers in ASP.net

    Building a new ASP.net application, and planning to separate DB, 'service' tier and Web/UI tier into separate physical layers. What is the best/easiest strategy to move serialized objects between the service tier and the UI tier? I was considering serializing POCOs into JSON using simple ASP.net pages to serve the middle tier. Meaning that the UI/Web tier will request data from a (hidden to the outside user) web server that will return a JSON string. This kind of JSON 'emitter' seems easily testable. It also seems easily compressible for efficiently moving data over the WAN between tiers. I know that some folks use .asmx webservices for this kind of task, but this seems like there is excess overhead with SOAP, and the package is not as human readable (testable) as POCOs serialized as JSON. Others are using more complex technology like WCF which we have never used. Does anyone have advice for choosing a method for moving data/objects between the data (db) tier and the web (UI) tier over the WAN using .net technologies? Thanks!!!

    Hi, We are utilizing citrix netscalar with more than 20 glassfish java application servers. Unfortunately we have to remove previous application before deploying a new version of it since we have same context for these two different application. This error-prone process leads some problems due to lack of attention in builds or other problems. In an urgent case, we simply want to redirect to all traffic to previous application.   • Dealing with dependencies between WCF services when using Castle Windsor

    I have several WCF services which use castle windsor to resolve their dependencies. Now I need some of these services to talk to each other. The typical structure is service -- Business Logic -- DAL The calls to the other services need to occur at Business Logic level. What is the best approach for implementing this? Should I simply inject a service proxy into the business logic? Is this wasteful if for example, only one of two method from my service need to use this proxy? What if the services need to talk to each other? - Will castle windsor get stuck in a loop trying to resolve each services dependencies?

  • Can I call make runtime decided method calls in Java?

    I know there is an invoke function that does the stuff, I am overall interested in the "correctness" of using such a behavior. My issue is this: I have a Service Object witch contains methods which I consider services. What I want to do is alter the behavior of those services without later intrusion. For example: class MyService { public ServiceResponse ServeMeDonuts() { do stuff... return new ServiceResponse(); } after 2 months I find out that I need to offer the same service to a new client app and I also need to do certain extra stuff like setting a flag, or make or updating certain data, or encode the response differently. What I can do is pop it up and throw down some IFs. In my opinion this is not good as it means interaction with tested code and may result in un wanted behaviour for the previous service clients. So I come and add something to my registry telling the system that the "NewClient" has a different behavior. Actually I have to do this in PHP, witch I see as a kind of Pop music of programming which I have to "sing" for commercial reasons, even though I play POP I really want to sing by the book, so putting aside my more or less inspired analogy I really want to know your opinion on this matter for it's practical necessity and technical approach.     I want to use asymmetric encryption of headers in RESTful requests to verify the identity of the system sending the request: i e System A encrypts it's name, timestamp, and the service name using it's public key in a request to System B. System B then uses the public key of System A to decrypt, proving the authenticity of the request. 1) Does php-mcrypt support this? 2) Has anyone benchmarked this type of operation?

  • Running a lot of jobs with sun grid engine

    I want to run a very large number (~30000) of jobs with Sun Grid Engine. I can theoretically, perform 30000 times the "qsub" command to submit jobs. However, I am afraid that will be too much. Is there a better way to do it? (i.e. from a file) Or otherwise, do you think it will work nonetheless? Thank you

    From my understanding JSONP can only be achieved using the GET verb. Assuming this is true which I think it is, then this rules out core compliance with true REST in which you should make use of different verbs i.e. GET,PUT,POST,DELETE etc... for different and specific purposes. My question is what type of barriers am I likely to come up against if I where to say allow updating and deleting of resources using a JSONP service using a get request. Is it better practice to offer a JSON service and state that the user will need a server side proxy to consume using JavaScript XDomain? Cheers , Andrew

Project Assumptions: Enterprise business applications Business logic needed between user and database Data validation necessary Service-oriented (prefer RESTful services) Multi-year maintenance plan Support hundreds of users 3-tier Team Favors: Persistant layer <== Domain layer <== UI layer Service boundary between at least persistant layer and domain layer.   • How to design WCF Contracts?

    We are designing a WCF layer which can be invoked either by a Asp.Net or a WinForm application. Our Application contains too many Entities. If we design WCF Contract around these entities then we get too many Contracts e.g IPartyService, IUserService, IPaymentService etc. So, I may end up with 30-40 Contracts? Is it a good idea or should we go for one huge contracts with around 100 operations? What are the pros and cons of each approach or is there a better way.
