  Some PDF files produce garbage ("mojibake") when you copy text. This makes it impossible to search them (whatever you search for will not match the garbage). Does anyone have an easy workaround? An example: TEAC TV manual EU2816STF BTW: I am using Adobe Reader - perhaps an alternative viewer might help?

• ASP.NET web application can't find an assembly

  I deployed an ASP.NET web application last night and I when I woke up this morning it was very slow and would occasionally just throw a 'Service Unavailable' error. I checked the Event Viewer and it was filled up with these errors: I'm puzzled as it was working perfectly when I deployed it (MonoTorrent is required to retrieve the number of seeders/leechers for a certain torrent off the tracker - this was working fine), but it's no longer working and whenever code that uses MonoTorrent gets involved, the worker process just crashes. MonoTorrent.dll is in the /bin/ directory.

  I have identified the file that prevent me from further shrinking C: partition for Windows 7 OS. By query shrinking and then checking Event Viewer, this is the file: The last unmovable file appears to be: \ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Wi ndows\Projects\SystemIndex\Indexer\CiFiles\0001001 5.wid::$DATA I was wondering how to move this file away? I guess I have to move the whole \ProgramData away, not just that file?

What if I have two DHCP servers in my domain that use an 80/20 split scope to take a /24 pool of DHCP-allocated IP addresses and split it amongst the two servers according to this Technet Article? In this case, since the scope is split, how can I tell if the total DHCP pool, which is split amongst the two DHCP servers, is beginning to run low on address space?

I have checked all event viewer logs on remote PC, no information related this. Where do I start searching for problem? Does Windows has some kind of permission monitor tool?   Upon starting Windows Server 2008 R2 I get this error message: Event ID 11 Disk The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk3\DR3. There are also also 3 more similar messages for Harddisk 2, 4, and 5, but not zero or 1. Checking the event viewer reveals it's been going on for 3 months. I ran chkdsk - no bad sectors. Any advice on the cause, better still, a solution?

I can't see anything specifically in the event viewer at the time this happens. Is this a case of waiting, or is there something more going on here?

  If I go into the IIS manager and start ftp and smtp, after about an hour or so they will have been shutdown. There is nothing in the event viewer to explain why they would shut down. IIS webserver continues to run with no problem. I don't see any options in their configuration that would cause this. Any tips on how to troubleshoot this?

  Short time ago plugins stopped working in chromium. Neither of kpartsplugin, mozplugger nor flashplayer-nonfree seem to work. Neither comes up in chrome://plugins page (only "Chromoting Viewer" does). Was there recently any change that would require reconfiguration? And if, of what? I have Debian Testing (Jessie) amd64, recently updated, with chromium 35.0.1916.114-2, flashplugin-nonfree 1:3.4, kpartsplugin 20120605-1 and mozplugger 1.14.5-2.

  Hi I have a windows server 2008 running in Parrallels (on Mac osx)... the mac crashed yesterday and so I hard rebooted it, when I fired up the Windows Server 2008 VM this morning it goes as far as the progress bar then goes black screen and does nothing else (even when left for a long time). Windows Picture Viewer can print all four pages, but cannot split them. Anyone know how I can split the original TIFF into four separate images suitable for editing?   Windows Server 2008 R2 DFS Replication Is it possible to see which specific files are replicating in real time using a GUI or command line tool or in a log somewhere? I didn't see this in the DFS health reporting, in the DFS event viewer, or the DFS log. The log is pretty cryptic though so it may be in there and I'm unable to see it. I searched through the DFS log for paths and files I know should be replicating and they're not in there.

  I keep getting this error in my event viewer on IIS 6. I'm trying to figure out if my error resets my connection (maybe recycles the worker processes?).
