  • How can I get the following compiled on UVA?

  • Split html text in a SEO friendly manner

    - by al nik
I've some html text like <h1>GreenWhiteRed</h1> Is it SEO friendly to split this text in something like <h1><span class="green">Green</span><span class="white">White</span><span class="red">Red</span></h1> Is the text still ranking well and is it interpreted as a single word 'GreenWhiteRed'?

  • Dark color scheme for Eclipse?

    - by Bartosz Radaczynski
Is Eclipse at all themeable? I would like to install a dark color scheme for it, since I much prefer white text on dark background than the other way around. Edit: so apparently there is NO easy way to do it. Shame, I really prefer Eclipse to NetBeans, but I cannot stand the white background (and NetBeans does support themes).

  • C++ - Conway's Game of Life & Stepping Backwards

    - by Gabe
I was able to create a version Conway's Game of Life that either stepped forward each click, or just ran forward using a timer. (I'm doing this using Qt.) Now, I need to be able to save all previous game grids, so that I can step backwards by clicking a button. I'm trying to use a stack, and it seems like I'm pushing the old gridcells onto the stack correctly. But when I run it in QT, the grids don't change when I click BACK. I've tried different things for the last three hours, to no avail. Any ideas? gridwindow.cpp - My problem should be in here somewhere. Probably the handleBack() func. #include <iostream> #include "gridwindow.h" using namespace std; // Constructor for window. It constructs the three portions of the GUI and lays them out vertically. GridWindow::GridWindow(QWidget *parent, int rows, int cols) : QWidget(parent) { QHBoxLayout *header = setupHeader(); // Setup the title at the top. QGridLayout *grid = setupGrid(rows, cols); // Setup the grid of colored cells in the middle. QHBoxLayout *buttonRow = setupButtonRow(); // Setup the row of buttons across the bottom. QVBoxLayout *layout = new QVBoxLayout(); // Puts everything together. layout->addLayout(header); layout->addLayout(grid); layout->addLayout(buttonRow); setLayout(layout); } // Destructor. GridWindow::~GridWindow() { delete title; } // Builds header section of the GUI. This method populates the grid's 2D array of GridCells with MxN cells. QGridLayout* GridWindow::setupGrid(int rows, int cols) { isRunning = false; QGridLayout *grid = new QGridLayout(); // Creates grid layout. grid->setHorizontalSpacing(0); // No empty spaces. Cells should be contiguous. grid->setVerticalSpacing(0); grid->setSpacing(0); grid->setAlignment(Qt::AlignHCenter); for(int i=0; i < rows; i++) //Each row is a vector of grid cells. { std::vector<GridCell*> row; // Creates new vector for current row. cells.push_back(row); for(int j=0; j < cols; j++) { GridCell *cell = new GridCell(); // Creates and adds new cell to row. cells.at(i).push_back(cell); grid->addWidget(cell,i,j); // Adds to cell to grid layout. • How do you composite an image onto another image with PIL in Python?

    - by Sebastian
I need to take an image and place it onto a new, generated white background in order for it to be converted into a downloadable desktop wallpaper. So the process would go: 1) Generate new, all white image with 1440x900 dimensions 2) Place existing image on top, centered 3) Save as single image In PIL, I see the ImageDraw object, but nothing indicates it can draw existing image data onto another image. Suggestions or links anyone can recommend?

  • Use fileupload as template field in a details view

    - by MyHeadHurts
    I have an admin page where a user will select a document path and add that path to a certain column of a database. I am using a fileupload on the page where they can find the document and copy the path and then paste it into the details view. However, I want to skip this step and I want them to select a document and automatically make the path show up in the details view. <asp:FileUpload ID="FileUpload1" runat="server" Visible="False" Width="384px" /><br /> <br /> <div> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <ContentTemplate> <center> <asp:DetailsView ID="DetailsView1" runat="server" AllowPaging="True" AutoGenerateRows="False" DataKeyNames="ID" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" Height="128px" Width="544px" Visible="False" OnModeChanged="Button2_Click" CellPadding="4" ForeColor="#333333" GridLines="None" > <Fields> <asp:BoundField DataField="Order" HeaderText="Order" SortExpression="Order" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Department" HeaderText="Department" SortExpression="Department"/> <asp:BoundField DataField="DOC_Type" HeaderText="DOC_Type" SortExpression="DOC_Type" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Title" HeaderText="Title" SortExpression="Title" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Revision" HeaderText="Revision" SortExpression="Revision" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="DOC" HeaderText="DOC" SortExpression="DOC" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Active" HeaderText="Active" SortExpression="Active" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Rev_Date" HeaderText="Rev_Date" SortExpression="Rev_Date" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="ID" HeaderText="ID" InsertVisible="False" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="ID" Visible="False" /> <asp:CommandField ShowInsertButton="True" /> </Fields> <FooterStyle BackColor="#5D7B9D" BorderStyle="None" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /> <CommandRowStyle BackColor="#E2DED6" BorderStyle="None" Font-Bold="True" /> <RowStyle BackColor="#F7F6F3" BorderStyle="None" ForeColor="#333333" /> <FieldHeaderStyle BackColor="#E9ECF1" BorderStyle="None" Font-Bold="True" /> <EmptyDataRowStyle BorderStyle="None" /> <PagerStyle BackColor="#284775" BorderStyle="None" ForeColor="White" HorizontalAlign="Center" /> <HeaderStyle BackColor="#5D7B9D" BorderStyle="None" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /> <InsertRowStyle BorderStyle="None" /> <EditRowStyle BackColor="#999999" BorderStyle="None" /> <AlternatingRowStyle BackColor="White" BorderStyle="None" ForeColor="#284775" /> </asp:DetailsView> &nbsp; <br /> I need to get the fileupload1 into the DOC contenttemplate area so instead of showing an empty textbox it will show just a textbox it will show the fileupload

  • Alternate three and three rows in a table with jQuery

    - by Frode Lillerud
I want to set the alternate background color for rows in a table - but the twist is that I don't want every other row to be colored, I want to treat them in blocks of three rows. So for a table with eight rows I want the first three to be white, then the next three to have a background color, and the last two are back to white again. How can I do this using jQuery?

  • Overwrite values when using gridview Edit?

    - by sah302
I am using a GridView which is bound to a LinqDataSource and using the automatic edit and delete buttons. However, I don't want the user to edit two of the columns manually, but done automatically. Specifically username who last updated the entry, and the date it was updated. The gridview only contains 3 columns: Name, Date modified, last updated by. Right now when the user clicks the edit button they can only edit the name column (other two set to read-only). Upon clicking the update button, I want the other 2 fields to update as well based on some extra code. I thought this was done in the code behind within the event rowUpdating, but it doesn't seem to work. My gridview: <asp:GridView ID="gvNewsSources" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataSourceID="ldsNewsSource" AutoGenerateDeleteButton="True" AutoGenerateEditButton="True" CellPadding="4" ForeColor="#333333" GridLines="None" DataKeyNames="Id"> <RowStyle BackColor="#F7F6F3" ForeColor="#333333" /> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" SortExpression="Name" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="LastUpdatedBy" HeaderText="Last Updated By" SortExpression="LastUpdatedBy" ReadOnly="True" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="DatedModified" HeaderText="Dated Modified" SortExpression="DatedModified" ReadOnly="True" /> </Columns> <FooterStyle BackColor="#5D7B9D" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /> <PagerStyle BackColor="#284775" ForeColor="White" HorizontalAlign="Center" /> <SelectedRowStyle BackColor="#E2DED6" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="#333333" /> <HeaderStyle BackColor="#5D7B9D" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /> <EditRowStyle BackColor="#999999" /> <AlternatingRowStyle BackColor="White" ForeColor="#284775" /> </asp:GridView> My code behind: Partial Class _Default Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub gvNewsSources_RowUpdating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewUpdateEventArgs) Handles gvNewsSources.RowUpdating e.NewValues("LastUpdatedBy") = GetUser.GetUserName e.NewValues("DateModified") = Date.Now() lblOutput.Text = e.NewValues("DateModified").ToString() End Sub End Class Yet when I run through this, I get no errors, but the values aren't being updated in the database or in the gridview. I ran through debug mode and the new values dictionary starts at 1 and ends up being 3 by the end of the rowUpdating event and the value is being set (tested by output the newValue of Datemodified), but it isn't saving. What am I doing wrong?

  • Building CSS3 Simulated Lightsource on Background

    - by Volomike
Is there a way to take a DIV that has a background image on it, then apply a CSS3 gradient on it to simulate a lightsource? The reason I ask was because I was thinking of making the BODY tag on a page use a repeating background pattern, apply the CSS3 gradient lightsource on it, and then stick a white DIV on top of that where all the page content would go. For those without CSS3, it would degrade nicely into just a white DIV on top of a repeating background.
