  • Are cookies enough for storing login data? (PHP)

    I am reading the Head First PHP/Mysql book and they say to store both the user's username, email into cookies and sessions. Is it safe to assume that everyone know a day has cookies? Or should I store both in sessions and cookies? I am not storing any sensitive data in cookies such as password, etc.

  • MySQLi Insert prepared statement via PHP

    Howdie do, This is my first time dealing with MySQLi inserts. I had always used mysql and directly ran the queries. Apparently, not as secure as MySQLi. Anywho, I'm attempting to pass two variables into the database. For some reason my prepared statement keeps erroring out. I'm not sure if it's a syntax error, but the insert just won't work. I've updated the code to make the variables easier to read Also, the error is specifically, Error preparing statement. I've updated the code, but it's not a pHP error. It's a MySQL error as the script runs but fails at the execution of: if($stmt = $mysqli - prepare("INSERT INTO subnets (id, subnet, mask, sectionId, description, vrfId, masterSubnetId, allowRequests, vlanId, showName, permissions, pingSubnet, isFolder, editDate) VALUES ('', ?, ?, '1', '', '0', '0', '0', '0', '0', '{"3":"1","2":"2"}', '0', '0', 'NULL')")) { I'm going to enable MySQL error checking.     Hi, I've been testing a PHP script that I'm posting values to every few seconds (latitude and longitude to be specific) and am wondering if there's an easier way to see what values are being sent to the script. Right now I'm writing the data to a txt file on my server, and refreshing the page every so often to see what values have been posted recently. Is there a way to just see what's going on behind the scenes (in terminal, perhaps)? Thanks.

    Can someone please help me with this preg_match if (preg_match('~[^A-Za-z0-9_\./\]~', $filepath)) // Show Error message. I need to match a possible filepath. So I need to check for double slashes, etc. Valid file path strings should look like this only: mydir/aFile.php or mydir/another_dir/anyfile.js So a slash at the beginning of this string should be checked also. Example: There is an input box, after submitted the stuff that was written in the input box will be saved to a text file. Later on the results need to be brought back as a variable.     Hi guys, Let's assume: $time = '2010-05-17 02:49:30' // (retrieved from MySQL TIMESTAMP field) How do I do the following in PHP: 1) Check if it has been more than one week since this time has passed? 2) Assuming "false" on (1), find out how much more time until the one week mark, rounded to days and hours remaining. I know this is pretty straightforward, but it uses a very specific syntax. Having never played with time calculations before, I'd appreciate some guidance. Thanks!
