• Need to find current connections in mysql media server log table.

  Hi, I have a media server logging to a mysql database and it records a seperate row for each connect, play, stop, disconnect event. • How to organize a large number of objects

  We have a large number of documents and metadata (xml files) associated with these documents. What is the best way to organize them? Currently we put them into a series of nested folders: /repository/category/date(when they were loaded into our db)/document_number.pdf and .xml We use the path as a unique identifier for the document in our system. This is more versatile than putting them all in a single flat folder. also it is independent from our database/application, so we can reload them in case of failure. Yet, it introduces some limitations. for example we can't move the files once they've been placed in this structure, also it takes work to put them this way. What is the best practice? How websites such as Scribd deal with this problem?

• Insert lecture number and page number of lecture in footline

  I am dividing a semester's worth of lectures via the \lecture command. I'd like to have in the footline (among other things) the lecture number, date, and page number of the current lecture. I would also like to use the default style footline, with the black box on the left and the blue on the right. So I define a lecture with e.g. \lecture{January 28, 2010}{lecture01} with \title[Lecture \insertlecturenumber{}(\insertlecture)\quad{}Page \insertframenumber]{Course Title} in the preamble, I get an error; it will not accept \insertlecture there. If I remove \insertlecture, it does what I want, except that the page number is counted from the start of the semester, not the lecture. Is there any way to do this? Thank you. Liam

• Binding to NSTextField Cell not working, edited value resets to default

  I'm working on a Core Data document application that dynamically creates NSTableColumns. The data cell type may be a checkbox, slider, etc. Programmatically binding to all cell types works, except for NSTextFieldCell. All NSTextFieldCells fail to bind, and after editing they return to their default value. This happens no matter if they're binding to a string, a number (with an NSNumberFormatter applied), or a date (NSDateFormatter applied). I'm using the following format to do all bindings: NSDictionary *textFieldOpts = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:@"YES", NSContinuouslyUpdatesValueBindingOption, @"YES", NSValidatesImmediatelyBindingOption, nil]; [aCell bind:@"value" toObject:[[entryAC arrangedObjects] objectAtIndex:0] withKeyPath:@"numberData" options:textFieldOpts]; Again, these statements work if the cell type is anything but an NSTextFieldCell. I threw in an observeValueForKeyPath method to log when the value changes... and for other cell types (NSSliderCell for instance) I can see the value changing, but with the NSTextFieldCell, it never, ever updates. Help!

• IIS6: PHP Sessions

  I have installed PHP to work with IIS6 (with FastCGI). • How do I deep copy a DateTime object?

  $date1 = $date2 = new DateTime(); $date2->add(new DateInterval('P3Y')); Now $date1 and $date2 contain the same date -- three years from now. I'd like to create two separate datetimes, one which is parsed from a string and one with three years added to it. Currently I've hacked it up like this: $date2 = new DateTime($date1->format(DateTime::ISO8601)); but that seems like a horrendous hack. Is there a "correct" way to deep copy a DateTime object?

• Any working tutorials for Authlogic?

  I've been trying to build my first rails app and have gotten stuck on the issue of user authentication. I've found a number of tutorials for using various plug-ins to do this, but so far every single one of them is out-dated, and as a result, broken! From what I've read, I think Authlogic may be the best fit for me, and I've tried two things: 1) Going through Railscast, episode #160 (which is a tutorial for setting it up) 2) Using Ryan B's nifty_authentication gem with the --authlogic tag In both cases, I get the following error as soon as I try to do anything with a user: undefined local variable or method `acts_as_authentic' for # I believe this is from the User model: class User < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_authentic end I'm sure I've installed the authlogic gem, and I've added config.gem "authlogic" to my environment.rb Any ideas about what's wrong? Anybody know of a complete and up to date tutorial for adding user authentication?

• Problem using Hibernate-Search

  Hi, I am using hibernate search for my application. It is well configured and running perfectly till some time back, when it stopped working suddenly. The reason according to me being the number of my model (bean) classes. I have some 90 classes, which I add to my configuration, while building my Hibernate Configuration. When, I disable hibernate search (remove the search annotations and use Configuration instead of AnnotationsConfiguration), I try to start my application, it Works fine. But,the same app when I enable search, it just hangs up. I tried debugging and found the exact place where it hangs. After adding all the class to my AnnotationsConfiguration object, when I say cfg.buildSessionfactory(), It never comes out of that statement. (I have waited for hours!!!) Also when I decrease the number of my model classes (like say to half i.e. 50) it comes out of that statement and the application works fine.. Can Someone tell why is this happening?? My versions of hibernate are: hibernate-core-3.3.1.GA.jar hibernate-annotations-3.4.0.GA.jar hibernate-commons-annotations-3.1.0.GA.jar hibernate-search-3.1.0.GA.jar Also if need to avoid using AnnotationsConfiguration, I read that I need to configure the search event listeners explicitly.. can anyone list all the neccessary listeners and their respective classes? • problem with sqldatasource and data binding

  I am trying to pull out data from the table I had from the database according to the id which is passed from the URL. However I always get data from id= 1? Why? • Is there a way to compare two Java war files

  We built some war files for our web server a while back and have now rebuilt them. To ensure that nothing has changed (and as a quality check), we tried to compare them using WinMerge. The differences we can see look like they are due to some kind of meta data e.g. the files being built on different dates? The difference in the lines seems to be consistent e.g. «d}< and ³Ze< The war files are still both the same size. Is there a way to compare them that strips out the meta data such as date?

• Loading HTML into <div> with jQuery-ajax

  Hello everyone, I ran into a bit of trouble while trying to load an external HTML page into a div using jQuery-ajax. I had this div: <div id="content"></div> and wanted to fill it with $("#content").load("include/add.html"); It loads the HTML file perfectly, but inside that add.html is a button that should load add2.html(also using .load), but it seems that neither the button nor the datepicker in that file won't work. I'm guessing the .load function is responsible for that? • Vim Register Use in Ex Mode

  Potentially 2 questions in one. I would like to know how to reference a register in Ex mode. For instance, I'm editing a file and I want to save the file with a timestamp (or just datestamp really) appended to it. I know I can set register to the value of a shell commands output using: :let @a = system("date +\"%Y-%m-%d\"") Is there any to dereference this register and insert its value into an Ex command? Something like: :w testfile.<value of "a register> Copying to the system clipboard and pasting would be nice, but doing it in a more generic/programitic way for building on other commands in the future would be nice.

• HP to Cisco spanning tree root flapping

  Per a recent question I recently configured both my HP (2x 2900) and Cisco (1x 3750) hardware to use MSTP for interoperability. I thought this was functional until I applied the change to the third device (HP switch 1 below) at which time the spanning tree root started flapping causing performance issues (5% packet loss) between my two HP switches. I'm not sure why. HP Switch 1 A4 connected to Cisco 1/0/1. HP Switch 2 B2 connected to Cisco 2/0/1. HP Switch 1 A2 connected to HP Switch 2 A1. I'd prefer the Cisco stack to act as the root. EDIT: There is one specific line - 'spanning-tree 1 path-cost 500000' in the HP switch 2 that I didn't add and was preexisting. I'm not sure if it could have the kind of impact that I'm describing. I'm more a security and monitoring guy then networking. EDIT 2: I'm starting to believe the problem lies in the fact that the value for my MST 0 instance on the Cisco is still at the default 32768. I worked up a diagram: This is based on every show command I could find for STP. I'll make this change after hours and see if it helps. The tutorial provided with it is not good enough. I was wondering if there is any detailed tutorial(s) for Visual Modeler? Is Visual Modeler a cut down version of Rational Rose? I have never used such a tool for developing apps. What are the benefits of developing apps like this? The document claims that one can speed up development and modifications of VB6 & VC++ 6 applications. How true is this claim? My company also has Ration Rose 6. Which is better Rational Rose 6 or Visual Modeler that comes with VS 6 Ent.?

  Ok I'm very new to databases and C# in general, but I'm using a piece of code that exports dataset data to an Excel file, and its taking issue with the date/time format. I'm using the MySQL connector so the rowtype is MySql.Data.Types.MySqlDateTime. Is there any quick way to convert it into System.DateTime so I can slot it straight into the case statement? • SQL 2008 Database tuning advisor won't start

  For some reason I can't get DTA to connect to my development machine. It connects to a remote DB just fine but when I point it to my dev machine I get an error saying: Failed to initialize MSDB database for tuning (exit code: -1073741819). I'm pretty sure it's not a permissions issue since I've used profiler to capture what it's doing and all of the commands it's run so far look fine and are being run under my account which is associated with the sysadmin role, when I run them in sql management studio they go through fine. I'm pretty convinced that the problem is related to creating the objects in MSDB that are used by DTA but I tried creating these manually (I found scripts on the web) and it just seems to push the problem along the line slightly. I'm going out of my mind - have even tried reinstalling SQL but that's not fixed it. I'm using SQL 2008 with SP1 (10.0.2531) on windows server 2008 (patched up to date). SAVE ME!!!!!

So far I got to: Regex NotesChanged = new Regex(@"NOTES changed from \[(\w*|\W*)\] to \[([\w-|\W-]*)\]"); which matches only if "NOTES changed from" started at the beginning and has no '[]' within '[ ]', but I have "[CLOSED[]]" and also no "".   So I have a silly problem, I have not used much MSSQL before, or any SQL for that matter. I basically have a minor mathematical problem that I need solved, and I thought modulo would be good. I have a number of dates in the database, but I need them be rounded off to the closest [dynamic integer] (could be anything from 0 to 5000000) which will be input as a parameter each time this query is called. So I thought I'd use modulo to find the remainder, then subtract that remainder from the date. If there is a better way, or an integrated function, please let me know! What would be the syntax for that? I've tried a lot of things, but I keep getting error messages like integers/floats/decimals can't be used with the modulo operators. I tried casting to all kinds of numeric datatypes. Any help would be appreciated.

  G'day guys, I have a current set of data, and I generate multiple analyses of this data (each analysis into its own active record item called a pricing_interval) using a helper function at the moment. Currently to analyse the set of data, you need a start time(using datetime_select) an integer (using text_field) and a name (using text_field) I would like on submission of the form to be redirected to the index page of my pricing_interval, as the values will be re-generated. Manually generating a range proves that my helper methods work. How would I build a form that on submit would send parameters to a function in the form of (date,integer,name) so that it could immediately begin work whilst redirecting the user to server/pricing_intervals Anything at all would help, I've spent hours over the past few days trying to get the rails form syntax working properly to no avail, a really straightforward guide to what I would implement to get this working would be amazingly appreciated. I've looked through the form guides, as I'm not creating an object, but merely parsing params, there's got to be an easy way to do this, right?
