  • How best to store Subversion version information in EAR's?

    When receiving a bug report or an it-doesnt-work message one of my initials questions is always what version? With a different builds being at many stages of testing, planning and deploying this is often a non-trivial question. I the case of releasing Java JAR (ear, jar, rar, war) files I would like to be able to look in/at the JAR and switch to the same branch, version or tag that was the source of the released JAR. How can I best adjust the ant build process so that the version information in the svn checkout remains in the created build? I was thinking along the lines of: adding a VERSION file, but with what content? storing information in the META-INF file, but under what property with which content? copying sources into the result archive added svn:properties to all sources with keywords in places the compiler leaves them be I ended up using the svnversion approach (the accepted anwser), because it scans the entire subtree as opposed to svn info which just looks at the current file / directory.     I am currently using Wowza Media server for recording videos from webcam using Flash. However servers like Wowza, Red5 & Flash Media Server seem to be overkill for merely this task. Are there any alternative lightweight video recording servers which can be used for the purpose? My load would not be more than 5 users at a time and my server is Ubuntu 8.04. I tried Haxe Server but project seems to be outdated and won't compile on my Ubuntu.

Briefly, there are 81 cards with the four features: symbol (oval, squiggle or diamond), color (red, purple or green), number (one, two or three) or shading (solid, striped or open). The task is to find (from selected 12 cards) a SET of 3 cards, in which each of the four features is either all the same on each card or all different on each card (no 2+1 combination). In my free time I've decided to code it in MATLAB to find a solution and to estimate odds of having a set in randomly selected cards.     Hi, I just installed Help Center Live which works fine, but I would like to make just one minor adjustment and after looking almost everywhere I couldn't find the file where the text was listen in. At the end of each chat the user can request a copy of the transcript. I tested it and it got into the spam folder of my email client. Why, I don't know, but the point here is I would lik to add some text. After a user finishes a chat session, he or she gets a page hcl/live/chat/end.php with the following text displayed somewhere: "To e-mail yourself a copy of the transcript, please enter your e-mail address below." After entering the address and pressing submit there is a confirmation message: "A copy of the transcript has been sent to your e-mail address." And I would like to add: "Please check your spam folder if you haven't received your transcript" How can this be done? Thanks.

In the past I've used NSIS, but it was always flaky when installing the .NET Framework, so .NET, SQL Server and our app seems like an impossible task. It needs to be free, which probably cuts back my options a tad. Any suggestions or recommendations?

  • Twisted: why is it that passing a deferred callback to a deferred thread makes the thread blocking a

    I unsuccessfully tried using txredis (the non blocking twisted api for redis) for a persisting message queue I'm trying to set up with a scrapy project I am working on. I found that although the client was not blocking, it became much slower than it could have been because what should have been one event in the reactor loop was split up into thousands of steps. So instead, I tried making use of redis-py (the regular blocking twisted api) and wrapping the call in a deferred thread. It works great, however I want to perform an inner deferred when I make a call to redis as I would like to set up connection pooling in attempts to speed things up further.     I'm trying to create a jQuery plugin that will create something like an autoCompleteBox but with custom features. How do I store member variables for each matching jQuery element? For example I'll need to store a timerID for each. I'd also like to store references to some of the DOM elements that make up the control.   • MySQLdb not INSERTING, _mysql does fine.

    Okay, I log onto the MySQL command-line client as root. I then open or otherwise run a python app using the MySQLdb module as root. When I check the results using python (IDLE), everything looks fine. When I use the MySQL command-line client, no INSERT has occurred. If I change things around to _mysql instead of MySQLdb, everything works fine. I'd appreciate any clarification(s).     I am reading a file like this: char string[256]; std::ifstream file( "file.txt" ); // open the level file. if ( ! file ) // check if the file loaded fine. { // error } while ( file.getline( string, 256, ' ' ) ) { // handle input } Just for testing purposes, my file is just one line, with a space at the end: 12345 My code first reads the 12345 successfully. But then instead of the loop ending, it reads another string, which seems to be a return/newline. I have saved my file both in gedit and in nano. And I have also outputted it with the Linux cat command, and there is no return on the end. So the file should be fine. Why is my code reading a return/newline? Thanks.

  • App dies on startup but not crash report

    I've given an ad hoc version of my app to some users. Two of them have the app die on start up while one user has no issues. I can also install the ad hoc without issue...but that is always the case for me. One user sent the info below from the Xcode Organizer Console. They didn't find any crash logs. I don't know what to make of the info below. The one thing that stands out is "Permission denied". I place the provisioning and myapp.app files in a dropbox folder. The user then retrieves the files from the same location. I've run codesign against the .app file in the dropbox and get valid output: codesign -vvvv myapp.app myapp.app: valid on disk myapp.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement Any one have some ideas how I can figure out why the app doesn't work for this user?     I'm adding some custom buttons to my forms in MS Access, but somehow I can't make them work. In buttons properties Event tab I've changed 'On Click' event to call 'Event procedure'. Then in VBasic I'm selecting my button and from what I know this code should give me prompt, and if Yos is selected the form should close. But when I click my buttons simply nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong ?   • Does a WCF service with basicHttpBinding create a new connection for each request?

    I have a Silverlight client calling a WCF Service on an IIS web server. It uses the default basicHttpBinding setting for the calls. My client code has the usual Visual Studio generated proxy that is generated when using the 'Update Service Reference' menu option. Does every call to the service using that proxy use the same connection? Or does it create a connection each time a call is made and then close it down once the reply is received? As the client is actually making a SOAP call over HTTP I just assumed that every service request had a new connection created but I want to check if that is the case? (I need to know because if it creates a new connection each time then each request could end up at a different server because there are several servers being load balanced. It is uses a single connection for the duration of the proxy then I can assume they all end up at the same machine and so it would cache state.)
