  • Can't install Linux drivers for ASUS N-13 wireless adapter

    I have a USB N13 wireless Adapter with install CD-- For Windows. I downloaded drivers from ASUS FOR N13 for Linux. Disregard install CD that came with adapter; it's for Windows. I then downloaded Windows Wireless driver install program app from Software Center in Ubuntu 12.10. The problem is me. I am newbie with all things linux; software sources, G Debi, default archive manager, synaptic package manager and the Terminal. The downloaded driver file is a .zip file. I managed to extract it to a tar.gz file and then to open it to the contained files. When I use the Windows Wireless driver program it ends up telling me there is no .inf file and goes no further. It wants to install .inf file but I don't even see one in all the files. Can someone please help me . I think you can tell by my wording I don't have a clue. I hope this is'nt too chatty. I've tried to be explicit and to the point. Thank you. Oh, this is on an ASUS LAPTOP K53E. I've looked all over Ask Ubuntu and finally found some questions even on the N13 but they didn't help; still some differences in the exact problem.

We stood in the middle of a crowd during one of the breaks and starting “arguing” about Java vs. .NET with one another. Our voice levels quickly raised and we ended it by slapping each other across the face with a glove to request a challenge.   • dpkg reporting as installed, uninstalled kernels

    I have run the following command to remove old kernels: dpkg -l 'linux-*' | sed '/^ii/!d;/'"$(uname -r | sed "s/\(.*\)-\([^0-9]\+\)/\1/")"'/d;s/^[^ ]* [^ ]* \([^ ]*\).*/\1/;/[0-9]/!d' | xargs sudo apt-get -y purge and only the current kernel is now installed, which I have confirmed in synaptic and by checking my boot partition.     i have application in spring .its is deployed in Linux machine and windows server 2008. i am using mysql 5.5.32 in my linux server and mysql 5.5.13 in windows server 2008. stored procedure in mysql is working perfectly in Linux machine but while calling stored procedure from windows,its is working partially that is some integer values is set as 0.if i restart the tomcat and call that stored procrdure then t is working. i dont know the exact reason .can any one help me to find issue.thanks in advance

  • Anticipating JavaOne 2012 – Number 17!

    As I write this, JavaOne 2012 (September 30-October 4 in San Francisco, CA) is just over a week away -- the seventeenth JavaOne! I’ll resist the impulse to travel in memory back to the early days of JavaOne. But I will say that JavaOne is a little like your birthday or New Year’s in that it invites reflection, evaluation, and comparison. It’s a time when we take the temperature of Java and assess the world of information technology generally. At JavaOne, insight and information flow amongst Java developers like no other time of the year.This year, the status of Java seems more secure in the eyes of most Java developers who agree that Oracle is doing an acceptable job of stewarding the platform, and while the story is still in progress, few doubt that Oracle is engaging strongly with the Java community and wants to see Java thrive. From my perspective, the biggest news about Java is the growth of some 250 alternative languages for the JVM – from Groovy to Jython to JRuby to Scala to Clojure and on and on – offering both new opportunities and challenges. The JVM has proven itself to be unusually flexible, resulting in an embarrassment of riches in which, more and more, developers are challenged to find ways to optimally mix together several different languages on projects.    To the matter at hand -- I can say with confidence that Oracle is working hard to make each JavaOne better than the last – more interesting, more stimulating, more networking, and more fun! A great deal of thought and attention is being devoted to the task.   • CentOS - Yum doesn't update anymore?

    I've been trying to use yum now, but for some reason, not even the search work anymore. I even tried putting packages I already downloaded in the search criteria and is the same. I want to keep the mbr etc... as this device should be boot ready as soon as the copy is finished. Any ideas? I previously had been using dd if=/dev/sda of=[//fileserver/file], but at that time, my master copy was on a 4gb flash ide.

  • Web application interacts bi-directional with server program?

    I want to write a web application to play chess against the engine Crafty. I'm not new to PHP and javascript, but must learn how to interact with a server process : how can a web application and/or (jQuery) ajax interact bi-directionally with a (linux) program running on the server? At this moment i am developing on (Apache) local host. Crafty is installed on my Ubuntu PC. This well-known chess engine has no GUI, it runs in terminal by the command $ /usr/games/crafty and so you can play chess against it and even see it's calculations. I can make Crafty run by PHP, using the functions proc_open() or exec(), and most documentation i found states that the output stream should be a file .. But i think i don't want such setup, because then the webpage should be constanty polling that file (eg. by ajax) to see if some new data was appended, right? How can Crafty talk to the web page directly, saying "i have calculated another variation" or "i have decided a move" etc, then display this info on the web page and let the user give some counter move, just like in terminal. Isn't it possible to use some session / stream / listener? I have no clue at all, can anybody point me in a right direction?

  • Restoring file properties but not the complete files, from backup

    While copying data from my old storage on a Linux computer to the new (linux-based) NAS, I accidentially failed with getting the properties (most important: the modify dates) along to the new location. I also continued to use/modify the files at the new location and hence, cannot just copy it all over again. What I would like to do is a diff between files in the old vs. the new storage, and for those being identical, restore the properties from Linux storage to the NAS storage files. Is there a clever way such as a script or a tool to do this? I could either run it on the Linux box or in worst case from a remote Windows computer. Grateful for any suggestions. /Jon
