  • How to use MSBuild to create ClickOnce files that match those created by Visual Studio

    I am trying to use MSBuild in a TFS Build file to create click once files for my application. According to MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165431.aspx) it seems that the project file's click once settings should be used unless you override them with property arguments on the command line. However, even though I have specified (in VS) that some prerequisites should be bootstrapped in with the setup, they don't seem to get installed if I use the MSBuild command line to create the package, even though they do seem to get installed if I use Visual Studio to create the ClickOnce package. Please could someone advise me how to get my prerequisites to get installed via ClickOnce when the clickonce package is built using the MSBuild command line? For information, in Visual Studio, project properties, "Publish" tab, "Prerequisite" button, I have ticked "Create setup program to install prerequisite components", I have ticked my pre-requisites and I have specified "Download prerequisites from the component vendor's web site"

  • displaying keyboard raises memory... but it never comes down iPhone

    Hello again. I encountered a weird behavior in memory just by displaying the default keyboard. I've just created a project with an .xib file for testing purposes. This .xib file has an UITextField element in it and it's connected in the .h via: @property(nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *sometext; The .m has no changes but: - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [someText becomeFirstResponder]; } As you see it's very very simple. The problem is that once the keyboard is shown, the memory allocated for it NEVER goes down. I've tested this scenario in another project with the only difference of having two .xib files. Standar pushViewController and popViewController calls are made. Instruments show an increase of 600kb in memory allocations [which are a lot more in the actual iPhone device]. All in all, hehehe. My question is: How do I release the memory allocated for the keyboard?.

  • Has anybody use javafx on CDC J9?

    Is that possible?? I mean, I have an already working project that runs in windows mobile using the J9 virtual machine for CDC. My user interface there is using AWT and it works fine and it looks OK, but been honest it doesn't take real advantage of the devices were is running... So I start reading about JavaFX and that looks really cool, but all that I see about mobiles there is applied to CLDC, MIDP, etc. but my application is already running on CDC J9 and I can't change this cause I'm using a Derby database on it. So, my plan is to code the GUI again, but keeping the logic of the application. So do you guys think javafx is the way to go? or, am I wasting my time learning javafx for this project. Every time I try and use it by declaring it in my layout xml file I receive the error "01-04 12:27:46.471: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1771): Caused by: android.view.InflateException: Binary XML file line #605: Error inflating class android.widget.CompoundButton" After fighting the error for a half an hour I decided to try a minimalistic example. I am using the latest eclipse developer tools, and targeting android 2.2 makign the minimum sdk required 2.2 (8).     I've been using the Maven EAR plugin for creating my ear files for a new project. I noticed in the plugin documentation you can specify exclude statements for modules. However, in my project I have 30+ and we've only just started the project so as it expands this is likely to grow. Besides explicitly declaring exclude statements per module is it possible to use wildcards or and exclude all maven dependencies flag to only include those modules i declare and exclude everything else? Is anyone aware of a more elegant solution?

  • Should one have a separate user account for work use? [closed]

    This question examines the practice of using a separate OS-level user account to divide work use from personal use (specifically, in a creative profession and on a personal computer). I recently left my in-the-flesh job to go to school, but I'm carrying on with the work remotely. I do all of my work on my laptop, and I currently have a separate user account called "Work" where I do exactly that. However, I'm now starting to question that practice. Because my hobby is the same as my job, I want to save notes of the things I learn while working. Because ideas come at any moment, I often want to throw something into my personal task manager's inbox and look at it again later. That task manager is well-suited to handle both the work and personal aspects of my life. Only my personal account has admin rights, but work sometimes requires me to install programs. My employer has no preference regarding my choice, so that is a non-issue. My work is essentially freelance web development, so advice given with that in mind will be much appreciated. Back up all opinion with some personal experience, please. Ideally, give a list of pros and cons and then name reasons for your position.

    Above is the LINQ to SQL designer view for my data context. [Table(Name="dbo.Activities")] [InheritanceMapping(Code="1", Type=typeof(ActivityBase), IsDefault=true)] [InheritanceMapping(Code="2", Type=typeof(Project))] [InheritanceMapping(Code="3", Type=typeof(ProjectActivity))] [InheritanceMapping(Code="5", Type=typeof(Task))] [InheritanceMapping(Code="4", Type=typeof(Activity))] public abstract partial class ActivityBase : INotifyPropertyChanging, INotifyPropertyChanged { ... Is there a way to generate accessor methods for the subclasses as shown in the inheritance mapping above (Project, Task, etc...) without doing it manually? I added them manually but then a change in the designer overwrites any manual changes. Am i doing this wrong? should I not be making accessors for the sub classes? filtering from ActivityBase seems worse to me. Thanks for any help on this.

  • Output Path property issue on build server

    I am working in the .NET 3.5 framework. I have a project that builds fine locally. I can build it on our build server when the source files are posted there. However when I am running the build process through Visual Studio 2010 I get a warning that says "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\Microsoft.Common.targets: The OutputPath property is not set for this project. Please check to make sure that you have specified a valid Configuration/Platform combination. Configuration='DEV' Platform='Any CPU'" Any suggestions anyone has or if you need additional information please let me know. I have been struggling with this for a couple of days now.   • In Eclipse, how to open a file browser in the directory of the currently edited file

    Hi, I know it's possible in eclipse to open file browsers from your project's resource browser, but is it possible for files that aren't part of your project ? Typically external includes are not found in your resource browser... If there is the equivalent of $(resource_loc) for the editor, it would work.. But I wasn't able to find it. Can anyone help me on this ? thanks! JC EDIT : I Found StartExplorer, but it's a joke of a plug-in. It is hardcoded to use WINDOWS explorer or cmd.exe. Also, it still requires you to use the resource browser. Other than that it can open paths selected in the editor, but they must be full paths.

    I have an app in J2EE with a couple of projects. Got my .war project that communicates with a EJB business project which has access to some Data. I have an entity which has some information about places, and I want to show a collection of those places in a single map on a JSF page. I have a Collection of coordinates to be assigned as points on a polyline in Google maps, and I've got this collection as a return of a java function of the jsf page, but I dont know how to get this collection from jsf and then how to make the map work I'll be very greatful if someone can give me some jsf code as an example. (and if someone knows how to set the autoReshape attribute for maps in jsf using javascript, please tell me the secret!!!!) Thanks a lot.

  • What's the use of Ant's extension-point if/unless attributes?

    When you define an extension-point in an Ant build file you can have it conditional by using the if or unless attribute. On a target the if/unless prevent it's tasks from being run. But an extension-point doesn't have any tasks to conditionally run, so what does the condition do? My thought (which proved to be incorrect in Ant 1.8.0) is it would prevent any tasks that extend the extension-point from being run. Since an extention-point doesn't have any tasks exactly what has been skipped? Any targets that depend on the extention-point still get executed since a skipped target is a successful target. What is the value of the if/unless attributes on an extention-point?

  • Problem installing Maven plugin (m2eclipse) in Eclipse (Galileo)

    I have Eclipse Galileo (for Java EE Developers) installed, and I'm now trying to get the m2eclipse Maven plugin installed as well. I follow the basic steps described at http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/installing-m2eclipse.html, and it seems to be installing just fine. However, after restarting Eclipse after the install it doesn't seem to be anywhere. I should for instance have the ability to create a new maven project, but when the new-project wizard opens, there is no folder for Maven (I also cannot find any reference to it in the context menus of the existing projects I have). When I click at Help About Eclipse Installation Details, I find "Maven Integration for Eclipse (Required)" in the tab "Installed Software", yet another thing pointing towards a successful installation (but I can't find it under the "Plug-ins" tab, should it be there too?)... I feel like I'm just missing something very obvious, but right now I just don't see it...

  • SVM in OpenCV: Visual Studio 2008 reported error wrongly (or is it right?)

    I'm using MS Visual Studio 2008, OpenCV, C++ and SVM for a OCR-related project. At least I can run the code until yesterday, when I open the project to continue working, VS reported this error: error C2664: 'bool CvSVM::train(const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,const CvMat *,CvSVMParams)' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'cv::Mat' to 'const CvMat *' It didn't happen before and I haven't changed any code relating to it (I only changed the parameters for the kernel). The code got error is: Mat curTrainData, curTrainLabel; CvSVM svm; . . . svm.train(curTrainData, curTrainLabel, Mat(), Mat(), params); If I hover on the code, I still got this tip: image. Which means my syntax isn't wrong. So why do VS bother to report such an error?

  • Advanced Array Sorting in Ruby

    I'm currently working on a project in ruby, and I hit a wall on how I should proceed. In the project I'm using Dir.glob to search a directory and all of its subdirectories for certain file types and placing them into an arrays. The type of files I'm working with all have the same file name and are differentiated by their extensions. For example, txt_files = Dir.glob("**/*.txt") doc_files = Dir.glob("**/*.doc") rtf_files = Dir.glob("**/*.rtf") Would return something similar to, FILECON.txt ASSORTED.txt FIRST.txt FILECON.doc ASSORTED.doc FIRST.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.rtf FIRST.rtf So, the question I have is how I could break down these arrays efficiently (dealing with thousands of files) and placing all files with the same filename into an array. The new array would look like, FILECON.txt FILECON.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.txt ASSORTED.doc ASSORTED.rtf etc. etc. I'm not even sure if glob would be the correct way to do this (all the files with the same file name are in the same folders). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • No colors when using autospec

    When I'm using autospec to test a non-Rails Ruby project, I always have trouble getting my tests to show up red or green. When I run a regular 'spec spec/ --color' command I get normal red/green responses. I've tried putting all sorts of commands in the .autotest file and I can't get that to work. Also, in my Rails projects, I don't get this problem. Note: I do have the ZenTest(4.2.1) and redgreen (1.2.2) gems installed.   • It is okay to migrate to Asp.NET 4.0 now?

    Okay today, as most of you noticed Framework 4.0 has been released. I've been working on a project which is being built on framework 3.5. Since I want to use dynamic keyword and most of the asp.net features like Tableless Menu Control, ClientIDMode and clean web.config etc. I am kinda urging to migrate the unfinished project to 4.0 but I am little hesitating about that.Some times I think it is way better to wait for SP1. So what do you think about it? You guys will migrate to unfinished projects or will still hang out with 3.5 for a while. Thanks.

  • Silverlight Cannot find XML data source

    Hello.. I am very new to Silverlight development. I understand that this is client side technology therefore the paradyme is differant from that of conventional ASP.NET development. Having said that, I don't understand where my server side code is deployed. I have a silver light \ MVC application. I am trying to read an XML document from within my 'Models' folder. The following peice of code is executed from within a class that is in the same location as the XML document, 'Models'. The load() results in a SystemIOFileNotFound exception. I noticed that when building the application the XML document is not laid down in the same location as the web project's assembly. I assume this is specific to the fact that this is a Silverlight project.   • How can I include platform-specific native libraries in the .JAR file using Eclipse?

    Hello all, I am just starting to learn JNI. I have been following a simple example, and I have created a Java app that calls a Hello World method in a native library. I'd like to target Win32 and Linux x86. My library resides in a DLL, and I can call it just fine using LoadLibrary when the DLL is added to the root of my Eclipse project. However, I can't figure out how to get Eclipse to export a runnable JAR that includes the DLL and the .SO file for Linux. So my question is basically; how would you go about creating a project in Eclipse and include several versions of the same native library? Thank you, Martin

    I have a running dynamic web project in Eclipse (Java EE + Maven + Spring). I am at the point where I need to integrate a persistence layer and want to use Hibernate with a mySql database. I am wonder what plugins would be useful for me at this point? For Hibernate should I install hibernate tools or is it not necessary? Are then any plugins that are most widely use for connecting / exploring database connections that would be appropriate for the type of project I am working on? Thanks.
