• Java library to encode / decode AMF

  Hi chaps, I currently have a Java server that talks to a Flash client by passing JSON encoded data over a binary socket connection. Is there a way on either side to encode / decode packets as AMF instead of JSON? It seems to me that there should be some native support in Flash player for doing this? All the implementations I have found of AMF serialization seem to be embedded inside an application framework. Simiarly so, does anyone know if it's possible to decode AMF packets independently of a connection implementation in Flash?

• HttpURLConnection does not read the whole respnse

  I use HttpURLConnection to do HTTP POST but I dont always get back the full response. I wanted to debug the problem, but when I step through each line it worked. I thought it must be a timing issue so I added Thread.sleep and it really made my code work, but this is only a temporary workaround. I wonder why is this happening and how to solve. • CAsyncSocket and ThreadPool problem

  I have a server application with such structure: There is one object, call him Server, that in endless cycle listens and accepts connections. I have descendant class from CAsyncSocket, that has overriden event OnReceive, call him ProxySocket. Also I have a thread pool with early created threads. When connection is received by server object he accepts the new connection on the new object ProxySocket. When data arrives to the ProxySocket, he creates a command object and gives it to thread pool. In this command object I giving the socket handle of a ProxySocket. When new object of command is creating - I creating a new Socket in working thread and attach handle to it. My issue is next: When command ends, socket doesn't close, I just detach handle it and set CSocket handle to INVALID_SOCKET value, as planned. But my first ProxySocket object doesn't receives messages of new data receiving after that. How can I solve this?

I am building a cgi application, and now I would like it to be like an application that stands and parses each connection, with this, I can have all session variables saved in memory instead of saving them to file(or anyother place) and loading them again on a new connection I am using lamp within a linux vmware but I can't seem to find how to install the module for it to work and what to change in the httpd.conf. I tried to compile the module, but I couldn't because my apache isn't a regular instalation, its a lamp already built one, and it seems that the mod needs the apache directory to be compiled. I saw some coding examples out there, so I guess is not that hard once its runing ok with Apache Can you help me with this please? Thanks, Joe

I had tried with insert alone and also with all, but why can't i get the name of the stored procedure in the connection string. Let me know what i done clearly. I had added the sp i had imported the functions in the model browser. i had also mapped the insert, update and delete function to the table with return type only for insert and update. • Rails Unit Testing with MyISAM Tables

  I've got an application that requires the use of MyISAM on a few tables, but the rest are the traditional InnoDB type. The application itself is not concerned with transactions where it applies to these records, but performance is a concern. The Rails testing environment assumes the engine used is transactional, though, so when the test database is generated from the schema.rb it is imported with the same engine. Is it possible to over-ride this behaviour in a simple manner? I've resorted to an awful hack to ensure the tables are the correct type by appending this to test_helper.rb: (ActiveRecord::Base.connection.select_values("SHOW TABLES") - %w[ schema_info ]).each do |table_name| ActiveRecord::Base.connection.execute("ALTER TABLE `#{table_name}` ENGINE=InnoDB") end Is there a better way to make a MyISAM-backed model be testable?

I usually surround my connections with a try/finally, and I always close the connection in the finally clause. Given the above code, is it reasonable to assume that the connection will be closed if there is an exception?

I have a few types I'd like to insert into each record: A float, and then 3 groups of n floats, currently a tuple but could be an array or list.. • Wireless barcode scanner

  Hi All, I have 2 wireless barcode scanners. I have created an application in C# which reads a barcode and sends data to a web service which then manipulates the data and do further processing. When I start aplication, it first tries to connect to web service and will proceed further only if connection succeded. The problem I am facing is, if I deploy the application through visual studio then it works fine and connects to web service. But if I just copy the contents (exe and config files) manually, then it gives error that unknown host name. Can someone please help me to understand how this connection works? Does it needs some special settings in scanner device which visual studio does automatically while deployment? Thanks and Cheers.

• Trouble getting Flash socket policy file to work.

  Basically I'm using Flash to connect to a Java server. Despite my Java application replying to the , in the Flash debug log it lists (not sure about the order as there are lots): * Security Sandbox Violation * Connection to 192.168.1.86:4049 halted - not permitted from http://127.0.0.1:8888/Current/wander.swf Warning: Timeout on xmlsocket://192.168.1.86:4049 (at 3 seconds) while waiting for socket policy file. This should not cause any problems, but see http://www.adobe.com/go/strict_policy_files for an explanation. Error: Request for resource at xmlsocket://192.168.1.86:4049 by requestor from http://127.0.0.1:8888/Current/wander.swf is denied due to lack of policy file permissions. What I don't understand is, the server (port 4049) receives the request, outputs the policy file and then closes the connection, surely it shouldn't time out? The policy file I'm using is: <?xml version="1.0"?> <cross-domain-policy><allow-access-from domain="*" to-ports="*" /> </cross-domain-policy>

• Can't connect to Sunspot server in Ubuntu server

In a Ubuntu server, there's connection refused error. When I run rake sunspot:solr:start and the proccess starts. The file sunspot-solr-development.pid is created in /tmp/pids But when I try to reindex rake sunspot:reindex ... rake aborted! Connection refused - connect(2) I tried to run the commands with sudo and gave permission 777 to the project files, but there's still error. Rails 3.0.8 Don't know where else to search for a solution...

But if i login for may be more than 1 or 2hrs, when i click any of the links i get: "System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond" What is the fix for this? • PHP File Serving Script: Unreliable Downloads?

  This post started as a question on ServerFault ( http://serverfault.com/questions/131156/user-receiving-partial-downloads ) but I determined that our php script was the culprit. So I'm issuing an updated question here about what I believe is the actual issue. I am using a php script to verify permissions and then serve up a file for users of my website to download. Most of the time, this works, but recently one user has been seeing problems with larger downloads. He is only getting ~80% of downloads for files that are 100MB in size. Also, all downloads from this script fail to report a filesize. Further, tests revealed that the same user COULD reliably download each of the failed files if given a direct link (at which point the filesize is reported). Here's the relevant snippet of code that we are using to serve the file: header("Content-type:$contenttype"); $len = filesize($filename); header("Content-Length: $len"); header("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=".$title.".".$ext); readfile($filename); Note that $contenttype, $filename, $title, and $ext are all set correctly before we get here. These have been triple-checked. None of them are the problem. Also, $len does provide the correct filesize. While researching this issue, I came across this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1334471/content-length-header-always-zero It seems that I am encountering the same issue. When I use the script, I get chunked encoding on the file and no size is set for content-length. I'm hypothesizing that something is going wrong on the large downloads, leading him to get a zero-length chunk before the end of the file. • SQL Server 2008 - cannot register default instance MSSQLSERVER

  Hello, I have installed SQL Server 2008 Developer on Windows 7 64 bit. In Management Studio I cannot register the default instance MSSQLSERVER, it cannot find it although the service is running. I get the message: Cannot connect to PHOENIX\MSSQLSERVER. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 25 - Connection string is not valid) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 87) However Management Studio does show the SQL Server 2005 Express instance (that was installed with VS 2008 Pro) which appeared as already registered. I an using Windows Authentication as I installed it in mixed mode. Any ideas would be appreciated, many thanks paul

• Keeping iPhone application in sync with GWT application.

  Hi, I'm working on an iPhone application that should work in offline and online modes. In it's online mode it's supposed to feed all the information the user enters to a webservice backed by GWT/GAE. In it's offline mode it's supposed to store the information locally, and when connection is available sync it up to the web service. Currently my plan is as follows: Provide a connection between an app and a webservice using Protobuffers for efficient over-the-wire communication Work with local DB using Core Data Poll the network status, and when available sync the database and keep some sort of local-db-to-remote-db key synchronization. The question is - am I in the right direction? Are the standard patterns for implementing this? Maybe someone can point me to an open-source application that works in a similar fashion? I am really new to iPhone coding, and would be very glad to hear any suggestions. Thanks

• Neglect empty cells while refreshing

  I have an excel macro which refreshes the worksheet. However, if the file (in .csv format) with which the worksheet is being refreshed has empty cells, it's shifting the data from other columns and placing the data in wrong columns. However,if I manually refresh the sheet, it's working fine. I don't know how I can fix this. I just want my whole .csv file including empty cells to appear as it is in the worksheet.   I'm writing an application in Python where I wish to use sqlite as the backing store for documents edited by the app, with documents generally living in memory, but being saved to disk-based databases when the application saves. Ideally I'd like to use something like an ORM to make access to the data from my Python application code simple. Unfortunately it seems like the majority of Python ORMs, including SQLAlchemy, SQLObject, Django, and Storm, associate the database connection (or engine or whatever) with the classes representing table data, rather than instances of those classes. This restricts these ORMs to working with a single database connection across all instances. Since I'd like to support having multiple documents open simultaneously, this isn't going to work for me. Are there any ORMs out there that support this usage model in Python? Bazaar seems to support this, but it's quite out of date, and at first glance appears to have some other shortcomings. • How to change a Datasource's username/password at runtime in a J2EE app?

  I've deployed a web-module which connects to the database via a datasource configured in the J2EE application server. Currently, the user/password for the database connection is set in the proper J2EE application server's datasources configuration file. I want to change during runtime the datasource's user/password. (e.g.: implement a new web form in which the user is asked to enter de user/password to be used in the database connection). Is there a standard way to do that in J2EE applications or it depends on the J2EE application server? In this case I'm using Orion application server.

• Is Android AVD's firewall somehow more restricted to real Android firewall?

  I have a TCP server running in AVD and a TCP client running in AVD. AVD client dies because the connection refused so we are doubting some restricted firewall settings. I turned off the firewall in my Debian -laptop with this here but it did not fix the problem so some issue with Android -emulator, intro here. How can I make a TCP connection from one AVD to another AVD in the same laptop in Android? Grap the code & Minimal Working Example: You can find the sources here: import to Eclipse, set up two pieces of 2.3.3 AVDs, set up Test-running-configurations for server and client. Then "Run as Configuration" and you should see this bug. I don't have a physical Android -phone to test the code so I cannot comment whether it works with real Androids.
