What software do you guys recommend for 2D animation, cartoon like, on the Mac.
Please suggest something that do not requires a PhD in astrophysics to be able to use. If free, better.
thanks
I am looking for a program that will allow a windows computer or a Windows CE device tethered to a Cannon xsi to act as a DIY photobooth. Price is not necessarily a factor, but I'd be quite interested in an open source solution.
Instead of printing the photos I'd like to write them to a single Picassa album.
If the software could be controlled by the Cannon's remote control.
It would be a self serving photo booth for a wedding.
Are there any possibilities of modeling in a 3d environment? Not in a Maya or 3d studio MAX way (which I do not have any experience with), but in a UML diagram software kind of way..?
I looking for software similar to JDownloader or PyLoad. JD is pretty good but use heavy Java and for now have very weak web interface. PyLoad is awesome, include simple but powerful web-UI but downloading 10 files (10 threads each, so summary it's 100 connections running at around 8MB/s all) consume a lot of cpu - it's whole core for me.
Do you know any lightweight alternatives? Aria2c is good for console but I failed to find any good webui, official one is good but after adding more files almost crashes Chrome :)
My one month old MacBook Pro suddenly does not sleep anymore when I close the lid. There might be a relation to the Caffeine program that I installed recently. Caffeine prevents a Mac from going into sleep. But I have the problem when Caffeine is not even running.
What reasons could there be for this problem happening? I'm hoping its a software problem instead of some hardware failure.
Can a blu ray disk image be virtually mounted to play a blue ray movie (like ISO images can)?
If so then using what software?
I just want to know for sure before I delicate my slow connection to downloading a huge blu ray file.
I have a server running Debian Linux which has a built in serial port which is coming up as ttyS0. I have a plug in PCI card with two serial ports that are being registered with Linux as ttyS2 and ttyS3.
Unfortunately I am trying to run some software which assumes that ttyS0 and ttyS1 are available. Is it possible to remap the serial port device names (using a udev rule?) such that ttyS0 remains as it is and ttyS2 becomes ttyS1?
I want to burn a CD and protect it from copying. Please suggest a way to do that. Is there any open source software to do that? Only suggest free ways.
Has anyone come across software that can do this successfully/reliably?
I would like to set up my Nexus 7 tablet on a stand under my monitor and use it with the mouse/KB hooked up to my desktop so I can continue to use it while using my desktop without having to pick it up.
I was able to find one application which claims to do this (PC Loves Android), but reviews on the Google Play store do not seem to favor it.
I am working on setting up a new Windows Server 2008 R2 file server for our organization and felt like the functionality offered by the Remote Storage Service in previous versions of Windows would meet our needs for segmenting our data so that we can have different backup schedules for different tiers of data based on the frequency of that data being used and updated.
What software exists that provide this same or similar functionality for Server 2008 R2?

if it cannot work with gui then tell me how to use functions of this software without gui.
Hello. I am considering the purchase of some software (AutoCAD) that requires the CPU to support SSE2. My PC's CPU is an Intel® Core™ i5-650 Processor, which supports SSE4.2. Basically what I am wondering is if SSE4.2 is simply a newer version of SSE2, so that it would be fullly backwards compatible. Thanks.
I want to run my Firewall/NAT software (pfsense) and an internal NAS (looking at freenas right now) for my SOHO on one machine. Right now I have them separated on two different machines, but I'd like to consolidate them. Is this generally a bad idea? I see the security concern where if the firewall or host OS is compromised, then your data is essentially screwed. But is it really a concern for me?
I have just installed Ubuntu 10.04 in my Laptop and I'm a beginner to Linux operating systems. I want to setup a Java development environment in my system. Things I need:
Eclipse
JDK 1.6
Apache Tomcat
Can anyone please guide me how to install these software in my Ubuntu 10.04?
I want to add a shortcut to "About" for every software, just like most of them have CMD+, for entering preferences.
But this could as well be a question used for many other things, since I want to do it through either Automator, Script or just System Preferences, if possible.
Any hints on how to do this? Please, no third part solutions.
Why does my MobileMe directory have odd shortcuts like "Backup", "Groups", "Library", Software", and "Web". When navigating to them I am prompted for a username and password. What are they used for?
i'm looking to become really really good at understanding my machine. this includes hardware, software, firmware, the internet, creating my own network, troubleshooting problems, etc. I have an aerospace engineering degree so i'm technically inclined, but i want to really delve deeper in becoming a techno guru.
what literature should i start reading? books, textbooks, journals, articles, papers, etc. anything would help, thanks!
I was wondering if anyone knew if you could, and if so how to show the iPhone in a Keynote presentation to demo software on it? Kinda like they do at the Apple Events?
If anyone know thanks :p
I'm currently running my jsp pages on a windows 2003 server, apache tomcat 5.5 setup. My process involved is as follows:
make change to .java file
compile .java file
restart apache tomcat service
refresh browser
check c:\program files\apache software foundation\tomcat 5.5\logs
This is beyond cumbersome. Is there a better development platform to develop jsp pages which makes life alot easier?
thanks in advance
I am running Windows7 RC1, I have recently installed CheckPoint VPN SecureClient (http://www.checkpoint.com/products/vpn-1_clients/) to connect to my work network. On installation this appears to have disabled Fast User Switching.
You will notice "Switch user" is now greyed out.
I tried some googleing first and the most popular solution is to remove a registry entry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ GinaDLL
I have no entry there.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
I have a home network installed in following way:
Internet<-server<-switch<-computers,etc
Server has DHCP server installed and I would like to be able to limit download&upload speed for each client connected to server via switch.
Anyone can suggest good free software to do that?
Thanks
I'm planning to add a DLNA compatible DVD/Blue-ray player to my home theater setup. I also have my Windows Home Server with a lot of videos and photos.
Can a DLNA DVD player connect to my Windows Home Server and stream videos without any additional software on the WHS?
When I enable the redirect-gateway option on the server, restart openvpn, and restart the client software, the new default gateway is set on the client.
When I then disable the redirect-gateway option in the server config, restart openvpn on the server, then on the client, the client no longer sets the old gateway, effectively breaking access to the outside world.
Why could this be?
I used to use Getif for poking around inside SNMP results from servers and devices. However it no longer works with Windows 7 and 64bit.
I am looking for hopefully an OpenSource bit of software that will allow me add MIB's as required and allow me to browse the MIB tree and send a request/walk off to a server to get results.
What do you all use?
