How can I reduce draw calls when using glBufferSubData and DYNAMIC_DRAW?

At first I had the problem where I had about 150 rectangles rendered every tick. I only used STATIC_DRAW and glBufferData. I added support for DYNAMIC_DRAW and glBufferSubData and now I have a very good result... but the number of draw calls (glDrawArrays) is the same. Best practices from Mozilla Dev website said it should be reduced, but how? Does Office365 for education have litigation hold? [closed]

Both Google and Microsoft fail me, so I'm hoping someone out there with an O365 education deployment (A1 or A2) could help. Do the education plans have options for litigation hold? What's the per-head cost? I find plenty of people asking this question but noone definitively answering it. I know the normal enterprise offerings support litigation hold, but I can find nothing on the education offerings. I'm concerned only with staff. If at all possible, a link to an online reference would be handy too. Many thanks!

Manage Upload Permissions, SFTP & Linux

I'm new to Linux. I am working with a Redhat 5.5 server and am using a Java-based SFTP script that will allow multiple users to upload text files to a server. I am undecided if each user will have a separate directory or if I will use a naming convention that includes their customer ID. The files include some personal information about their LAN settings, so I prefer to use SFTP as apposed to FTP. It is my understanding that SFTP is encrypted (Also, I have a Java class configured to upload via SFTP, so I prefer not to switch protocols unless their is a very-good reason). The prototype is for a system that will support large numbers of customers and the thought of continually adding and removing clients through the command line seems highly impractical. (Again, I am new_to/learning Linux and Redhat). What are normal conventions for giving multiple users permission to SFTP upload files with a unique username and password for each.

How do you sync tabs between computers with Mozilla Firefox Sync?

Mozilla says that with Firefox Sync if you are working on one computer with 5 tabs open you can then switch to another computer or device and Sync can or will update the second computer with those tabs. How do I do this? BACKGROUND I have setup Firefox Sync on both devices and they have been synced. How do you sync them again? Is it automatically syncing them in the background? How often? How do you sync the tabs? Are the passwords synced? Documentation The documentation below describes how to add another device or computer to Sync. It says that when you add the device it syncs it. Iterative Conversion

Question Received: I am toying with the idea of migrating the current information first and the remainder of the history at a later date. I have heard that the conversion tool copes with this, but haven't found any information on how it does. Answer: The Toolkit will support iterative conversions as long as the original master data key tables (the CK_* tables) are not cleared down from Staging (the already converted Transactional Data would need to be cleared down) and the Production instance being migrated into is actually Production (we have migrated into a pre-prod instance in the past and then unloaded this and loaded it into the real PROD instance, but this will not work for your situation. You need to be migrating directly into your intended environment). In this case the migration tool will still know all about the original keys and the generated keys for the primary objects (Account, SA, etc.) and as such it will be able to link the data converted as part of a second pass onto these entities. It should be noted that this may result in the original opening balances potentially being displayed with an incorrect value (if we are talking about Financial Transactions) and also that care will have to be taken to ensure that all related objects are aligned (eg. A Bill must have a set to bill segments, meter reads and a financial transactions, and these entities cannot exist independantly). It should also be noted that subsequent runs of the conversion tool would need to be 'trimmed' to ensure that they are only doing work on the objects affected. You would not want to revalidate and migrate all Person, Account, SA, SA/SP, SP and Premise details since this information has already been processed, but you would definitely want to run the affected transactional record validation and keygen processes. There is no real "hard-and-fast" rule around this processing since is it specific to each implmentations needs, but the majority of the effort required should be detailed in the Conversion Tool section of the online help (under Adminstration/ The Conversion Tool). The major rule is to ensure that you only run the steps and validation/keygen steps that you need and do not do a complete rerun for your subsequent conversion.

Linux driver for Intel ICH10R

Hi! I would like to know what 64-bit Linux distribution can I use with an Intel ICH10R RAID. I have tried CentOS 5.2 and Ubuntu Server 8.04. Neither support that raid controller. Also, I would like to know where do I setup the RAID-5 I want to use. I am using a TYAN S7002 motherboard and the BIOS software does not include an option to configure the RAID as I am used to do with Dell servers... Thanks a lot in advance.

MediaTemple tcpsndbuf QoS Alerts

I'm hosting with MediaTemple on a (dv) Dedicated-Virtual 3.5 server. My site consists of a Wordpress blog, some custom PHP pages (nothing too intense), and I server 500-700 unique visitors per day. Despite my pretty modest numbers, I suffer from regular Apache crashes on account of QoS Alerts, mostly flagged as "tcpsndbuf". MediaTemple support -- usually tops -- has been pretty useless on this matter. I'm looking for answers as to how/why this is happening, advice on how to stop it. My website is a good portion of my livelihood, and downtime equates to lost income. Any and all help much appreciated. -Matt

OpenVPN vs. IPSec - Pros and Cons, what to use?

interestingly I have not found any good searchresults when searching for "OpenVPN vs IPSec": I need to setup a private LAN over an untrusted network. And as far as I know, both approaces seem to be valid. But I do not know which one is better. I would be very thankfull If you can list the pro's and con's of both approaches and maybe your suggestions and experiences what to use. Update (Regarding the comment/question): In my concrete case the goal is to have any number of Servers (with static IPs) be connected transparently with each other. But a small portion of "dynamic clients like road warriors" (with dynamic IPs) should also be able to connect. The main goal is however having a "transparent secure network" run top of untrusted network. I am quite a newbie so I do not know how to correctly interprete "1:1 Point to Point Connections" = The solution should support Broadcasts and all that stuff so it is a fully functional network... Yahoo sitemap validation

Hello, I am trying to submit sitemap.xml (index) to Yahoo Site Explorer but with no luck. I tried using website feed option in the site explorer to submit the sitemap, but I got validation errors. However, when submitting the same sitemap to google webmaster tools, the sitemap was validated successfully. Could it be for the fact that I am using sitemap with image tag: <image:image> <image:loc>http://www.domain.com/pic.jpg</image:loc> <image:title>picture</image:title> </image:image> When I tried validating the sitemap with inline tools such as http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html and http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv the error I received was: Attempt to load a schema document from http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1 (source: new namespace) for http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1, failed: Not recognised as W3C XML Schema or RDDL: html However, the declaration of the sitemap I use in the top of the document is the same as suggested by Google on their official page at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=178636 : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9" xmlns:image="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-image/1.1"> <url> Any ideas how to resolve this issue? Migration with SysPrep, ImageX and

I know that you can use SysPrep and ImageX to create a prepared image that can be used on several systems but the question is. How well does it work in a corporate environment of moving machines from old hardware off to new harddrives and new hardware? EDIT: The system runs accounting software and databases. So would SysPrep remove all License keys and other information which means would cause problems right? Would something else be a better option even though there are heavy costs involved? Currently, when I clone/copy the drive, Windows will black screen on me. So I need something with differential hardware support?

Can't get Intel drivers for ASUS P6T Deluxe

Hi everybody, A few days back my Win7 Ultimate started bugging me to install the RAID drivers for my ASUS P6T Delux. Fine, I'm all for having up to date drivers even for stuff I don't use. The problem is that the drivers I download from both ASUS support site here and the ones I get directly from Intel (can't post the second link, since I have less than 10 rep, but it's the first hit for "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager Driver" on google) say that my system does not meet the minimum system requirements. Impossible, I would think, what with it having the X58 chipset and the Windows version is supported one. Has anyone encountered something like this before? Any clues on how to solve this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any multi-touch graphics tablet with Linux drivers?

After watching the absolutely amazing 10/GUI video, I have been dying to try to implement something like this. I can do the software side quite easily, but I don't have the hardware. The Wacom Bamboo Fun would work, but the Linux drivers don't support the multi-touch features. Microsoft's "UnMouse Pad" looks like the perfect solution, but it is not commercially available yet. Are there any similar devices that would work? Alternatively, is there a way to build a DIY version? (It is fairly easy to build a multi-touch display with a webcam and IR LEDs, but it would not be pressure sensitive. Does anyone have any info on how the UnMouse Pad works and if it is possible to build one?) EDIT: I should clarify that I don't want a multi-touch display. I want the sensor to be separate from the display. If that sounds crazy, watch the 10/GUI video.

Video capture tool: capture n frames per second

Is there a program that allows me to pass in a video and capture the screen at every n frames? For example maybe I want to export screenshots at 24 frames per second from point A to point B, so the program will be exporting 24 images per second. The amount of frames I would like to capture can be specified (maybe I only want 1 fps, maybe 10 fps, maybe 24, 30, 60, ..) Preferably, it would be part of a larger program that supports various video formats. At least, it should support the more common formats out there.

Macbook shuts down when battery is empty (should have went to sleep)

In the past few weeks, my macbook shuts down when the battery dies. The battery does not even die at 0%, sometimes it shuts down at 5% or 10% remaining. I tried calibrating the baterry following this website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490. But it does not really help. I regularly use battery in my macbook, I'd say I use around 2-3 cycles a week. My charge cycles is 440 cycles, and my current battery capacity is 3400mAh from the original 4100mAh. I have 2008 unibody Macbook. Does anyone know how to make it goes to sleep before the battery's dead? EDIT: The OS seems the think that the battery is ok...

Ubuntu 11.10 is falling back to Unity 2D. How to get back to Unity 3D?

It happened some minutes ago when I plugged my secondary monitor and my graphical interface simply crashed. So I had to restart my session. Since the crash Ubuntu insists to use Unity2D fall back instead of the default one. I used to plug the secondary monitor everyday when at home and nothing bad happened before. This 2D version of the GUI is ugly and has a lot of problems. Cheap Bulk Domain Registration

I have 6-7 domain names that I have thought of and I'm planning to buy it in bulk so that I can save. Or am I wrong on this? In my case, since its my first time to this hosting/domain registration, I only knew of GoDaddy with regards to domain registration. Questions: Will I lose out if I chose a cheap domain registrar compared to one that's popular? For a newbie like me, what companies can you recommend for me to register domain names in bulk for cheap or affordable price? I notice that some prices are higher because they offer support and customer service? Aren't those servers not reliable at all? I've heard of some domain registrars that they're increasing their prices every renewal? Is that just natural in a business sense for these domain registrars? Before posting this, I've been reading about NameCheap.com, and I'm considering registering for them unless you have other good choices to give me. I'll appreciate every suggestion or advice you can give.

I'd like to encourage our dev. teams to use a GIST like pastebin (with syntax highlighting and, preferably, with a git-based or git compatible backend). Upgrade MySQL on Plesk on Windows

I just got a nasty surprise when I installed a website in Unicode Hindi (Indian language) on a server, all freshly entered unicode data is turning into question marks on the server. On my dev machine it works perfectly. I found that I have MySQL version 5.0.45 (installed in default by Plesk I guess). On my dev machine i have version 5.1.33. I believe the problem could be due to the version difference. The new version of MySQL apparently has better support for Unicode than the older one. I want to upgrade MySQL on my Windows Server machine with Plesk installed on it I am reluctant to just install the new version using the mysql installer because Plesk maintains some custom settings for mysql and I am afraid the new version could change those settings and break my db. Can anyone tell me do I have to do anything special to install MySQL on plesk on windows or can I just use the new version installer?

Tools for retrieving and modifying multi-value attributes in Microsoft ActiveDirectory

Most attributes in MSAD are single-valued and pose no problem. I am familiar with the dsquery user -samid jdoe | dsmod -webpg "http://some.url/" method. However, some attributes are multi-valued, such as telephone number and webpage. These values can be managed through the Active Directory Users & Computers Microsoft Console (dsa.msc) via the dialogue shown by clicking on the "Other..." button, but I'd really rather script the modifications. It seems to me that dsmod & dsget do not support multi-value retrieval and editing; only the first value of the set seems to be accesible. Am I correct? If I am not correct, I would appreciate a syntax example. If I am correct, would you please recommend an alternative scriptable tool that can handle multi-value attributes? The more "official and supported" the tool, the better.
