• Bing maps silverlight control custom pushpin

  I tried to make a custom pushpin for the Bing Maps silverlight control, but I can only add 1 pushpin.   I get the following error message The table/view 'TABLE1' does not have a primary key defined and no valid primary key could be inferred. This table/view has been excluded. To use the entity you will need to review your schema, add the correct keys and uncomment it when I try to add a view to an Entity Data Model. For testing, I have created a very simple view and I still get the error. below is the view definition SELECT DISTINCT TOP (100) PERCENT MIN(id) AS Expr4, MIN(EmpNo) AS Expr1, MIN(Name) AS Expr2, MIN(Category) AS Expr3 FROM dbo.MYView1 GROUP BY id does any one know of a simple work around. I have looked at this thread http://stackoverflow.com/questions/745341/can-ms-sql-views-have-primary-and-foriegn-keys but in my scenario, what is recommended is not applicable. If I could only have the view added to the Model.

• UIView inside UIView with Shadow?

  Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to draw a shadow for an UIView that was added inside a UIView with addSubview. I searched online and read the docs, but the Apple docs simply draw new shapes as shown below. I want to use the Core Graphics to add a shadow to the UIView, but am unsure how to do this to a UIView directly.   Doing the below will reproduce my problem: New WPF Project Add ListView Name the listview: x:Name="lvList" Add enough ListViewItems to the ListView to fill the list completely so a vertical scroll-bar appears during run-time. Put this code in the lvList.MouseDoubleClick event Debug.Print("Double-Click happened") Run the application Double-click on the LargeChange area of the scroll-bar (Not the scroll "bar" itself) Notice the Immediate window printing the double-click happened message for the ListView How do I change this behavior so MouseDoubleClick only happens when the mouse is "over" the ListViewItems and not when continually clicking the ScrollViewer to scroll down/up in the list?

• Dynamic DataGrid columns in WPF DataGrid based on the underlying set of data (and their type)

  Hello everyone, I've got kind of a conceptual question. I am in the process of wrapping some statistics classes I wrote into WPF. For that I have two DataGrid(-Views, currently in WinForms). In one DataGrid each row represents a column in the other. There I can set-up different variables (as in mathematical/statistical variables) with fields like "Header", "DataType", "ValidationBehaviour", "DisplayType". There I can also set-up how it should be displayed. Some Columns can automatically be set to ComboBoxColumns, some TextBoxColumns, and so on and so forth. So, now once I've set-up these Columns I can go to the other grid and enter my data. I may, for instance, have generated (in grid 1) one Column called "Annual Gross Salary" with input of numerical values. Another Column called "Education" with "0=NoEducation", "1=College Level", "3=Universitary" etc. These labels are displayed as text in the combobox and my statistics engine behind then selects the respective value (0-3) for calculations (i.e. ordinal, nominal variables). Sooo. In WinForms I could basically generate all the columns by hand in code and then add my data in the respective cells/rows. Now in WPF I thought that must be easy to realise. However, yesterday I got started with ICustomPropertyDescriptor which (maybe I was too thick) didn't give me the results I was looking for. Basically, I just need to be able to dynamically generate columns (and rows) with different Layout, Controls (ComboBox, simple Input, DateTimes) based on the data that I have. But I don't really know how to go about it? So here in summary: DataGrid 1 Purpose is to display columns that have been specified in DataGrid 2 In rows, the user can add any kind of data in the rows below the columns that is allowed as to the columns specifications DataGrid 2 Each row in this grid represents a column in DataGrid 1 Contains fields like Name/Header, DataType, Validation Behaviour, Default Value, Data Formatting, etc. Also contains a function to be able to set-up how it should be displayed. The user can select from, for instance, ComboBoxColumn (and also add the available options), DateTime, normal TextBox, CheckBox etc. After finishing adding a row it will automatically appear as a new column in DataGrid 1 I'd appreciate any kind of pointer into the right direction. • Why is HttpClient's GetStringAsync is unbelivable slow?

  I have a Windows Phone 8 project where I've taken to use the PCL (Portable Class Library) project too since I'm going to build a Win8 app to. However, while calling my api (in Azure) my HttpClient's GetStringAsync is so slow. I threw in a couple of debugs with datetime and GetStringAsync took like 14 seconds! And sometimes it takes longer. What I'm doing is retrieving simple JSON from my Azure API site. My Android client has no problem with getting that same data in a split second... so is there something I'm missing? The setup is pretty straight forward: HttpClient client = new HttpClient(); client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Accept.Add(new MediaTypeWithQualityHeaderValue("application/json")); client.DefaultRequestHeaders.Add("X-Token", "something"); string responseJSON = await client.GetStringAsync("url"); I've places the debug times right before and after the await there, in between it is 14 seconds! Does someone know why?

• WPF TreeView Virtualization

  I'm trying to figure out this virtualization feature, I'm not sure if I'm understanding it wrong or what's going on, but I'm using the ANTS memory profiler to check the number of items in a virtualized TreeView, and it just keeps increasing. I have a TreeView with 1,001 items (1 root, 1000 sub-items), and I always get up to 1,001 TreeViewItems, 1,001 ToggleButtons and 1,001 TextBlocks. Isn't virtualization supposed to re-use the items? If so, why would I have 1,001 of each? Also, the CleanUpVirtualizedItem never fires. Let me know if I'm understanding this wrong and if you have resources on how to use this. I've searched over the internet but haven't found anything useful. EDIT: Even the memory used by the tree grows from aporx. 4mb to 12mb when I expand and scroll through all the items. Let me know thanks. This is my code. • Entity Framework 4 mapping fragment error when adding new entity scalar

  I have an Entity Framework 4 model-first design. I create a first draft of my model in the designer and all was well. I compiled, generated database, etc. Later on I tried to add a string scalar (Nullable = true) to one of my existing entities and I keep getting this type of error when I compile: Error 3004: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 569: No mapping specified for properties MyEntity.MyValue in Set MyEntities. An Entity with Key (PK) will not round-trip when: Entity is type [MyEntities.MyEntity] I keep having to manually open the EDMX file and correct the XML whenever I add scalars. Ideas on what's going on?

• jQuery Datatable dynamic edit button attached to each row

  totally new to jquery and datatable. I would like to add an edit button that call forth a colorbox div that displays all the editable field. can anyone point me in the right direction on how this can be achieved? I was able to add a sClass to each field and use fnDrawCallback callback to call colorbox from field. But this is kind of messy and I rather just have a button at the end of each row for edit purpose. thanks very much for any pointers.

• Visual Studio 2010, TlbImp generates .net 4.0 interops in 2.0 projects

  In a C# project we add a reference to a COM object via the Add References setup pointing to a COM object which results in the IDE auto-generating the interop assembly. So this is fine and good, but we are building based on .net 3.5 SP1 aka CLR 2.0, and the generated interops are using the 4.0 CLR making them incompatible. Is there a way to prevent this? I assume the other option is configure our build script to try using tlbimp.exe with the /references parameter? to point to mscorlib v2.0? Anyhow, I'm hoping there's a flag somewhere to allow this.

• Android: Adding static header to the top of a ListActivity

  Currently I have a class that is extending the ListActivity class. I need to be able to add a few static buttons above the list that are always visible. I've attempted to grab the ListView using getListView() from within the class. Then I used addHeaderView(View) to add a small layout to the top of the screen. No buttons appear above it. Another approach I tried as adding padding to the top of the ListView. When I did this it successfully moved down, however, if I added any above it, it pushed the ListView over. No matter what I do it seems as though I cannot put a few buttons above the ListView when I used the ListActivity. Thanks in advance. synic, I tried your suggestion previously. • Can I read an Outlook (2003/2007) PST file in C#?

  Is it possible to read a .PST file using C#? I would like to do this as a standalone application, not as an Outlook addin (if that is possible). If have seen other SO questions similar to this mention MailNavigator but I am looking to do this programmatically in C#. I have looked at the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook namespace but that appears to be just for Outlook addins. LibPST appears to be able to read PST files, but this is in C (sorry Joel, I didn't learn C before graduating). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! EDIT: Thank you all for the responses! • Binding WPF DataGrid to DataTable using TemplateColumns

  I have tried everything and got nowhere so I'm hoping someone can give me the aha moment. I simply cannot get the binding to pull the data in the datagrid successfully. I have a DataTable that contains multiple columns with of MyDataType} public class MyData { string nameData {get;set;} boolean showData {get;set;} } MyDataType has 2 properties (A string, a boolean) I have created a test DataTable DataTable GetDummyData() { DataTable dt = new DataTable("Foo"); dt.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("AnotherColumn", typeof(MyData))); dt.Rows.Add(new MyData("Row1C1", true)); dt.Rows.Add(new MyData("Row2C1", false)); dt.AcceptChanges(); return dt; } I have a WPF DataGrid which I want to show my DataTable.   I want to merge one .NET DLL assembly and one C# Class Library project referenced by a VB.NET Console Application project into one command-line console executable. I can do this with ILMerge from the command-line, but I want to integrate this merging of reference assemblies and projects into the Visual Studio project. From my reading, I understand that I can do this through a MSBuild Task or a Target and just add it to a C#/VB.NET Project file, but I can find no specific example since MSBuild is large topic. Moreover, I find some references that add the ILMerge command to the Post-build event. How do I integrate ILMerge into a Visual Studio (C#/VB.NET) project, which are just MSBuild projects, to merge all referenced assemblies (copy-local=true) into one assembly? How does this tie into a possible ILMerge.Targets file? Is it better to use the Post-build event?

As far as I know behaviors must be declared in section in wcf.config. How can I add reference there to my behavior class from service assembly? An second thing is that I the following example the create local host, but how I can add headers used in constructor when I use service reference and it will already create instance of web service, right?   I'm reading a book that recommends clicking a check box that says "Place code in separate file" when adding a new Web Form to an existing ASP.NET project. The book is using Visual Studio 2005 and there is a check box for "Place code in separate file" when you open the "Add New Item" dialog. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and I do not see the "Place code in separate file" checkbox when I try to add a new item. Is there something I need to do to enable this? Was this functionality no longer possible/important in VS 2008?

• Winform ListView databind

  Hi, I have a Listview that uses databind. I set the DataSource property to a binding source. All works fine. The problem is that I need to have a column that is not databinded and contains only buttons that have the same handler for click event. To accomplish this I tried to add a subitem that is a button for each ListViewItem after InitializeComponent but doesn't work, nothing is displayed. Also I set the list view column type to Control. If I add elements to ListView and isn't databinded that the buttons appear. So it will be a great help for me to know if buttons could be displayed in column that is not databinded when the listview uses databinding for rest of columns. Thanks!

  Hello, I am new to ASP.net MVC and I am having trouble getting dropdown lists to work correctly. I have a strongly typed view that is attempting to use a Html.DropDownListFor as follows: <%=Html.DropDownListFor(Function(model) model.Arrdep, Model.ArrdepOptions)%> I am populating the list with a property in my model as follows: Public ReadOnly Property ArrdepOptions() As List(Of SelectListItem) Get Dim list As New List(Of SelectListItem) Dim arriveListItem As New SelectListItem() Dim departListItem As New SelectListItem() arriveListItem.Text = "Arrive At" arriveListItem.Value = ArriveDepart.Arrive departListItem.Text = "Depart At" departListItem.Value = ArriveDepart.Depart Select Case Me.Arrdep Case ArriveDepart.Arrive : arriveListItem.Selected = True Case Else : departListItem.Selected = True End Select list.Add(departListItem) list.Add(arriveListItem) Return list End Get End Property The Select Case works find and it sets the right SelectListItem as Selected, but when my view renders the dropdown list no matter what is marked as selected the generated HTML does not have anything selected. Am I obviously doing something wrong or missing something, but I can't for the life of me figure out what.

• PerformanceCounter.NextValue hangs on some machines.

Other counters like new PerformanceCounter("Processor", "% Processor Time", "_Total") seems to work fine. Any suggwstions why is that?

  I'm trying to call a parameterized stored procedure from SQL Server 2005 in my C# Winforms app. I add the parameters like so (there are 88 of them): cmd.Parameters.Add("@CustomerName", SqlDbType.VarChar, 100).Value = CustomerName.Text; I get the following exception: "System.InvalidCastException: Failed to convert parameter value from a TextBox to a String. ---> System.InvalidCastException: Object must implement IConvertible." The line throwing the error is when I call the query: cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); I also tried using the .ToString() method on the TextBoxes, which seemed pointless anyway, and threw the same error. Am I passing the parameters incorrectly? Thanks for the help.

• Android ListView - Slide Subview in from Right?

  I have a ListView. When I select an item in the ListView, I would like to have a Subview slide in from the right, the way that it does in many Apps. I have been searching for tutorials on this topic but am spinning my wheels. Maybe Android uses a term different than "Subview" ? • iTextSharp renders image with poor quality in PDF

  Hello, I'm using iTextSharp to print a PDF document. Everything goes ok until I have to print the company logo in it. First I noticed that the logo had poor quality, but after testing with several images, I realize that was the iTextSharp rendering it poorly. The test I did to say this was to print the PDF using my code and then edit the document with Acrobat 8.0 and I drew an image. Then printed the two documents and saw the noticeable difference. My question is that if anyone know if this can be due to a scaling problem where I'm failing to tell iTextSharp how it must render the image or is an iTextSharp limitation. The code to render the image is the following: Dim para As Paragraph = New Paragraph para.Alignment = Image.RIGHT_ALIGN para.Add(text) Dim imageFile As String = String.Format("{0}{1}", GetAppSetting("UploadDirectory"), myCompany.LogoUrl) Dim thisImage As Image = Image.GetInstance(imageFile) thisImage.Alignment = Image.LEFT_ALIGN para.Add(thisImage) The printed images are the following: Image printed directly with iTextSharp Image edited and printed with Acrobat 8 Please let me know if I need to provide more info.   I'm trying to hook into the ErrorListProvider in VS2010 to provide some more feedback from my VS2010 extension addin. Ensure that this service is available.
