  • How do I autorun applications after mounting a TrueCrypt container?

    I would like my TrueCrypt virtual drive to act as a newly inserted USB drive or CD/DVD by executing commands in the partition's autorun.inf file. I've read several suggestions online including creating a .bat file or installing software so Windows will think this is a CD, but I'd like to know the easiest and least intrusive way to pull it off. i.e. I want to keep from installing or messing with the host computer as much as possible, as this is intended to be a fully portable drive.

    An open-ended question (ie I havn't encountered this yet...) Being in the UK I consider it only a matter of time until I come across the following scenario: Windows 8 Pro N install where the End User wants DVD playback without installing all the Media Player 'add-ins' to enable it. Will just installing codecs and then some playback software work? (ie no huge downloads from Windows Update - consider this user to only want Crtical Updates due to a slow internet connection.)

  • How can I force Xbox Music to find music in all subfolders of my Music library?

    My music library is organized (roughly) like this: Music mp3 (original) Artist/Album/Song mp3 (from Tom) Artist/Album/Song mp3 (from Dick) Artist/Album/Song mp3 (from Harry) Artist/Album/Song ... etc. When I use the desktop Zune Software, it finds all of this music. However, the Xbox Music metro app only seems to find music in the "mp3 (original)" folder. How can I force it to find all of my music?

  • How I can determine the sector size on an external hard drive?

    Hard drives are transitioning from 512 byte to 4096 byte sector sizes, and it looks like Windows XP won't support these newer drives without additional software (such as WDalign from Western Digital) My question is: how does this affect external hard drives? I'll be buying a 1TB USB external drive, and it'll be plugged into a mix of Windows 7 and XP machines. Is there an easy way to tell what the sector size on an external hard drive is?

I've only had brief experience with MSAccess and OOo Base a long time ago, so details are appreciated, I just want to get up and running. I have Ubuntu 10.10, 64 bit, if that affects much.   • How to debug GPLI/OCS NG importing

    I have OCS NG and GLPI set up and working fine idependently of each other on the same host. For a while GLPI was sccuessfully importing computers from OCS NG, but now GLPI shows there are new computers to import but doesn't do anything when requested to import them. How do I find what is going on? Are there any log files or debug modes I can turn on? Documentation on the interaction of these pieces of software is pretty sparse.

    I am looking for free software to do batch conversions of divx video files to iPhone format. I have read the thread: http://superuser.com/questions/5784/looking-to-convert-video-to-iphone-format Handbrake works good for single files but it has very little customization with regards to files names and the batch functionality is not very good (or at least I can't get it to work very easily). Can anyone recommend a good batch converter? A script for Handbrake to do a batch for all in a specific directory would be useful even.

  • RSH between servers not working

    I have two servers: one CentOS 5.8 & one Solaris 10. Both are joined to my workplace AD domain via PBIS-Open. A user will log into the linux server & run an application which issues commands over RSH to the solaris server. Some commands are also run on the linux server, so both are needed. Due to the application these servers are being used for (proprietary GE software), the software on the linux server needs to be able to issue rsh commands to the solaris server on behalf of the user (the user just runs a script & the rest is automatic). However, rsh is not working for the domain users. It does work for a local user, so I believe I have the necessary trust settings between the two servers correct. However, I can rlogin as a domain user from the linux server to the solaris server. SSH works too (how I wish I could use it).   • I can't get the Samsung PC Studio to work on Vista or Windows 7

    Has anyone got a solution to this problem have asked Samsung but no reply yet! The software installs OK and the drivers, it sees the Tocco Lite when connected but will not actually connect! error message can't change mode or can't connect as "no response from the device because it is in the initializing stage. Try again after the initialization has completed" but it never does. Please Help!!! Mike

    My TP-LINK-8901 modem does not connect to internet with "always on" (automatic) connection. I have to put it in bridge mode and make a connection in Windows to connect to internet. Also, there is no configuration problem. What I did: Reset modem Update firmware Is there any way to solve the problem myself, e.g. through hardware or software? I can't have it repaired because the warranty already expired.

    I need to have at least one microphone on Windows to make Skype calls, but i have a VPS with Windows 2003 server with no audio device. I googled a lot and finally i found something called "Virtual Audio Cable", a tool to install virtual audio drivers ( http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html ). I tried many times but i couldn't get this driver work, so i'm asking if someone know a similar solution, i mean a virtual microphone or a way to make skype working without any microphone.   • recovering USB printer

    I have an USB printer, that was discovered and installed properly. At some point, I suppressed it in the printer view of the config panel. If I try to add a new local printer, it says : Only use this option if you don't have an USP printer ( Windows automatically installs USB printer). How can I make windows automatically reinstall the USB printer I accidentally suppressed ? Edit : It is a dell all-in-one 920 printer, and I just tried to download and reinstall dell software.
