  • Why cant i install ANY operating system??

    I tested the memory and i tested the hard disk and everything is fine! Mini XP booted from Hirens Boot Disk works :( I tried Windows 7, Windows XP SP3 and even Ubuntu 10.04 :( All Operating Systems boots up to the point where they can load necessary files to start the OS and then resets the laptop Windows 7, only up to the point where the Windows Loading Animation is happening Ubuntu, only up to the point where the loading is done, shows a small screen and then goes to a blinking cursor and thats it... it keeps on blinking and sometimes resets the computer Windows XP SP3, loads all the drivers and everything and then the point where i should be able install the OS, it simply resets the laptop :( I have used the word reset instead of restart because the laptop completely turns off and then only turns back in Any solutions would be greatly appreciated

I know it is the case with the css folder, but in migrating a traditional php website over, will my /images folder, /js folder /mp3s, etc Will those all just also be public folders that will be accessed via the layout or view.phtml pages?   • Home folder only SFTP connection has limited access

    I have configured sftp access for user using this guide: Linux shell to restrict sftp users to their home directories? I have problem though. I have taken all steps. I have chown'ed root:user the home folder and I set permissions to 755. I can login normally using SFTP, however I can NOT transfer files, can NOT mkdir directories. If I change permissions to 777 it's ok do edit everything. However this is the thing I don't want. Additionally after exiting sftp and reconnecting then connection is reset by peer (due to setting 777). Anyone had similar problem? What I am doing wrong?

  • Windows 7 Wireless Network Adapter Stopped Working

    I have a Windows 7 Ultimate machine where the wireless adapter all of a sudden started having trouble connecting to wireless networks. Whenever I go to a new place and try to connect to a wireless network, it says that the DNS server is not responding, and tells me to go unplug the router and try again. After several locations in a row telling me this, I began to realize something was wrong with my adapter, not the routers. I am no longer asked to identify the security level for any new networks (Work, Home, or Public) like I used to be (it defaults to Public now - with the park bench icon). Often, resetting the router doesn't even work. Running the Windows 7 troubleshooter doesn't give me anything better than the advice to reset the router. However, the adapter will still connect to the wireless network at my main office without any problems. Does anyone know why a wireless network adapter can get so finicky so suddenly? Thanks!

  • Active DFS node did not restore after failure

    On Tuesday we had a Server 2008 R2 DFS-R node go offline unexpectedly. DFS did the right thing and started routing requests to a different node, which was in a remote site. This is by design, because even though it's slow, at least it's still working. We had the local DFS-R node back online within an hour, and it had synced all its changes 10 minutes after that. 3 of the 5 terminal servers reset themselves to the local DFS node, but the other two stayed pointing at the remote DFS node for three days, until someone finally piped up about how slow requests were. What reasons could there be why some, but not all, of the server reverted? Is the currently active DFS node for a namespace exposed anywhere in the OS (WMI, or even scripts) so that we can monitor the active nodes?

  • Router 2wire, Slackware desktop in DMZ mode, iptables policy aginst ping, but still pingable

    I'm in DMZ mode, so I'm firewalling myself, stealthy all ok, but I get faulty test results from Shields Up that there are pings. Yesterday I couldn't make a connection to game servers work, because ping block was enabled (on the router). I disabled it, but this persists even due to my firewall. What is the connection between me and my router in DMZ mode (for my machine, there is bunch of others too behind router firewall)? When it allows router affecting if I'm pingable or not and if router has setting not blocking ping, rules in my iptables for this scenario do not work. Please ignore commented rules, I do uncomment them as I want.   • Where can I find logs for SFTP?

    I'm trying to set up sftp-server but the client is getting an error, Connection closed by server with exitcode 1 /var/log/auth.log (below) doesn't help much, how can I find out what the error is? I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS sshd[27236]: Accepted password for theuser from (my ip) port 13547 ssh2 sshd[27236]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for user theuser by (uid=0) sshd[27300]: subsystem request for sftp sshd[27236]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session closed for user theuser Update: I've been prodding this for a while now, I've got the sftp command on another server giving me a more useful error. Request for subsystem 'sftp' failed on channel 0 Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer Everything I've found on the net suggests this id a problem with sftp-server but when I remove the chroot from sshd config I can access the system. I assume this means sftp-server is accessible and set up correctly.

  • Why are my flash drives getting formatted?

    I've had two cheapie flash drive from Microcenter, and they booth out-of-the-blue became unformatted. When you insert then in the USB drive, windows says "The drive is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" And then it can't actually format it. Nothing happened to them physically. For one, it 'died' during a reset, and the other, it was normal and then it was dead once when I inserted it, IIRC. What's the deal? Are these just cheap, crappy drives, or what?

  • Allow WRITE access to local folders machine in 2003SBS AD

    Have a SBS2003 client with a mess of a domain that is in process of being cleaned. But, for the life of me I cannot find a setting that will allow write access to the local hard disk for domain users with redirected profiles(to the server). This is needed only for one program that will not follow a symbolic link to the network path, instead it seems to be hard coded to the %appdata% folder but only on the c: drive.... So question is how can I allow "Domain users" write access to the local %appdata% directory? I have tried setting it manually on a machine but it kept resetting to RO no matter how many times I tried. Every time I would un-check the RO property it would reset sometime right after i hit OK. But I guess the main thing is I have no enable java under internet options, advanced. It was under security to enable java scripting. Any answers?

  • How do I display a jquery dialog box before the entire page is loaded?

    On my site a number of operations can take a long time to complete. When I know a page will take a while to load, I would like to display a progress indicator while the page is loading. Ideally I would like to say something along the lines of: $("#dialog").show("progress.php"); and have that overlay on top of the page that is being loaded (disappearing after the operation is completed). Coding the progress bar and displaying progress is not an issue, the issue is getting a progress indicator to pop up WHILE the page is being loaded. I have been trying to use JQuery's dialogs for this but they only appear after the page is already loaded. This has to be a common problem but I am not familiar enough with JavaScript to know the best way to do this. Here's simple example to illustrate the problem. The code below fails to display the dialog box before the 20 second pause is up. I have tried in Chrome and Firefox. In fact I don't even see the "Please Wait..." text.
