  • How to send XML data through socket InputStream

    Hi, I'm trying to write a client-server application in Java with an XML-based protocol. But I have a great problem! See this part of client code: InputStream incoming = skt.getInputStream(); //I get Stream from Socket. OutputStream out = skt.getOutputStream(); [...] XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(); //This create an XML document. tosend = WUTPClientWriter.createMessage100(projectid, cpuclock, cpunumber); serializer.setOutputByteStream(out); serializer.serialize(tosend); At this point server fall in deadlock. It wait for EOF but I can't send it because if I use out.close(); or skt.shutdownOutput(); I close Socket and I must keep alive this connection. I can't send '\0' becouse I get Parse Error in the server. How can I do? Can I "close" output stream without close socket? RESOLVED I've created new class XMLStreamOutput and XMLStreamInput with advanced Stream gesture.

    What I would really like is a streaming API that works sort of like StAX, and sort of like DOM/JDom. It would be streaming in the sense that it would be very lazy and not read things in until needed. It would also be streaming in the sense that it would read everything forwards (but not backwards). Here's what code that used such an API would look like. URL url = ...     I have an arraylist that holds a subset of names found in my database. I need to write a query to get a count of the people in the arraylist for certain sections i.e. There is a field "City" in my database from the people in the arraylist of names I want to know how many of them live in Chicago, how many live in New York etc. Can someone help me how I might set up an sql statement to handle this. I think somehow I have to pass the subset of names to sql somehow.

    I heard that Windows 7 restricts access to its registry, so that applications cannot write directly to it. Is this so? I am developing an application in C#, and I would like to be able to save things such as port settings, last file used, etc. between sessions.     I am trying to find a way to display numerical digits as a larger font size than chars on a website (not my idea!). The reason for this is to make the numbers stand out. I have looked for a font that would satisfy this without coding but I could not find any. Also, I don't want to slow down the website by having the font coverted to an image. Does anyone have a solution to this ridiculous problem?

    Hey, i have question related to CoreData. My iphone project has 2 Entities, Organisation and Brand with a 1 to many "BrandsToOrg" relationship and inverse. So my project has a Mapview, where you can see all the Organisations and a little subview when you click on those Organisations.At the subview there is a "show Brands" Button, which should init a new TableView who only shows the brands belong to the seleceted organisation.     I have a combobox that is bound to a an instance of a class. I need to get the user's selection ID of the combobox and set a class property equal to it. For example, here is the class: public class robot { private string _ID; private string _name; private string _configFile; [XmlElement("hardware")] public hardware[] hardware; public string ID { get { return _ID; } set { _ID = value; } } public string name { get { return _name; } set { _name = value; } } public string configFile { get { return _configFile; } set { _configFile = value; } } } Now here is the code to bind the combobox to an instance of that class. This display's the name of each robot in the array in the combobox. private void SetupDevicesComboBox() { robot[] robot = CommConfig.robot; cmbDevices.DataSource = robot; cmbDevices.DisplayMember = "name"; cmbDevices.ValueMember = "ID"; } But now I can't seem to take what the user selects and use it.     Hi all! Hopefully you can help me with this. I've displayed an Announcement web part on a page with 20 items. I opened up SharePoint Designer 2007 and set the paging to 6 items. I've added a little bit of (OOB) functionality so that I have buttons for START, PREVIOUS, and NEXT. These work well without any problems but I'm wondering how do I get END to work? I tried using the $LastRow & $RealLastRow values supplied by the web part but those just give me the number of how many items are in the current view, not the total items in the list. Little help!

    Hi, I have a very large table with over 1000 records and 200 columns. When I try to retreive records matching some criteria in the WHERE clause using SELECT statement it takes a lot of time. But most of the time I just want to select a single record that matches the criteria in the WHERE clause rather than all the records. I guess there should be a way to select just a single record and exit which would minimize the retrieval time. I tried ROWNUM=1 in the WHERE clause but it didn't really work cause I guess the engine still checks all the records even after finding the first record matching the WHERE criteria. Is there a way to optimize in case if I want to select just a few records? Thanks in advance. Edit: I am using oracle 10g.

Consider each (i, k) as a position of a node in a trinomial tree. Ex: (0, 0) can diverge to (1, 1) (1, 0) (1, -1). (1, 1) can diverge to (2, 2) (2, 1) (2, 0). I would like to make the background color of items in the ListBox have a gray color if the Done DateTime is != DateTime.MinValue. Edit: Should I make a converter? and convert DateTime to a Brush based on the value of the DateTime? Is something like this my best option? or is there a simple Xaml snippet I could use?
