  • App Engine - Objectify - Storing a byte[]

    I'm using the Objectify library for interfacing with the app engine datastore. In my User class, I store the hashed password as a byte[]. When I put it in the datastore, it is correctly stored as a blob. When I try to load the User object back out I get this error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot load non-collection value '<Blob: 40 bytes>' into private byte[] How do I fix this? Do I have to change my User class to have the hashed password be of type ShortBlob?

  • App Engine remote_api with OpenID

    Hi, I've recently tried to switch my app engine app to using openID, but I'm having an issue authenticating with remote_api. The old authentication mechanism for remote_api doesn't seem to work (which makes sense) - I'm getting a 'urllib2.HTTPError: HTTP Error 302: Found', which I assume is appengine redirecting me to the openid login page I've set up. I guess I'm missing something fairly obvious. Currently my remote_api script has the following in it - remote_api_stub.ConfigureRemoteDatastore(app_id=app_id, path='/remote_api', auth_func=auth_func, servername=host, secure=secure) where auth_func is def auth_func(): return raw_input('Username:'), getpass.getpass('Password:') Any ideas what I need to supply to remote_api? I guess similar issues would be encountered with bulkloader too. Cheers, Colin

  • Chrome/Webkit audio tag bug?

    I'm trying to get HTML5's audio tag to work in Chrome. The following code works flawlessly in Firefox, any ideas why it isn't working in Webkit? <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function init(){ audio = new Audio("chat.ogg"); audio.play(); } </script> </head> <body onload="init()"> </body> I should also note that I tried this with an mp3 as well. Regardless of what format, whenever .play() is called on audio, Chrome responds with "undefined".

  • How to set the network profile of Windows 7 via group policy?

    We are deploying client computers and in testing noticed that the first time the user logs into the computer, it asks them if the location is a home, work, or public location. We are worried that some users in our workplace might misread it (or not read it at all) and click Public, thus likely denying our access to the computer and messing up security settings and such. Can we set our network to be a "Work Network" location via group policy or some other mechanism of our Windows Domain so that the user is not prompted when connected to our network? Also these are laptops, so we don't want every network they connect to be set as work network, and we have several access points (wired and three wireless) which our users often switch between so I'm not yet sure if it reprompts with each access point but I have the feeling it will, and I would like all of these to be set to the Work profile type.

    I am developing with app engine SDK. I have a feeling this is much too basic a question so apologies ahead of time... A simple submit button doesnt work instead of just showing an alert box as expected it continues on afterwards and redirects me to the latest http-request, and I think this is because I dont understand how to tell the browser to recognize the proper URLs. Why does my browser say I am at the most recent http-request http://localhost:8080/putProjectInDB rather than the somepage.html that was actually served to the browser that I am currently looking at? How can I get the browser to recognize and show in its url spot the normal expected http://somepage.html ? Just in case, here are details of the specific problem which you might be able to ignore for answering the question: This hasnt been mattered for me until I just wanted to put into my .html a simple button that changes some stuff of the page without needing the server. The below code after displaying the alert box redirects me to the last server request http://localhost:8080/putProjectInDB instead of just staying in the same html page. in header: function MyFormCommands() { alert('Some Text'); } in body: <form onSubmit="MyFormCommands()" ><input type=submit ></form >

  • Loading datasets from datastore and merge into single dictionary. Resource problem.

    Hi, I have a productdatabase that contains products, parts and labels for each part based on langcodes. The problem I'm having and haven't got around is a huge amount of resource used to get the different datasets and merging them into a dict to suit my needs. The products in the database are based on a number of parts that is of a certain type (ie. color, size). And each part has a label for each language. I created 4 different models for this. Products, ProductParts, ProductPartTypes and ProductPartLabels. I've narrowed it down to about 10 lines of code that seams to generate the problem. As of currently I have 3 Products, 3 Types, 3 parts for each type, and 2 languages. And the request takes a wooping 5500ms to generate. for product in productData: productDict = {} typeDict = {} productDict['productName'] = product.name cache_key = 'productparts_%s' % (slugify(product.key())) partData = memcache.get(cache_key) if not partData: for type in typeData: typeDict[type.typeId] = { 'default' : '', 'optional' : [] } ## Start of problem lines ## for defaultPart in product.defaultPartsData: for label in labelsForLangCode: if label.key() in defaultPart.partLabelList: typeDict[defaultPart.type.typeId]['default'] = label.partLangLabel for optionalPart in product.optionalPartsData: for label in labelsForLangCode: if label.key() in optionalPart.partLabelList: typeDict[optionalPart.type.typeId]['optional'].append(label.partLangLabel) ## end problem lines ## memcache.add(cache_key, typeDict, 500) partData = memcache.get(cache_key) productDict['parts'] = partData productList.append(productDict) I guess the problem lies in the number of for loops is too many and have to iterate over the same data over and over again. labelForLangCode get all labels from ProductPartLabels that match the current langCode. All parts for a product is stored in a db.ListProperty(db.key). The same goes for all labels for a part. The reason I need the some what complex dict is that I want to display all data for a product with it's default parts and show a selector for the optional one. The defaultPartsData and optionaPartsData are properties in the Product Model that looks like this: @property def defaultPartsData(self): return ProductParts.gql('WHERE __key__ IN :key', key = self.defaultParts) @property def optionalPartsData(self): return ProductParts.gql('WHERE __key__ IN :key', key = self.optionalParts) When the completed dict is in the memcache it works smoothly, but isn't the memcache reset if the application goes in to hibernation? Also I would like to show the page for first time user(memcache empty) with out the enormous delay. Also as I said above, this is only a small amount of parts/product. What will the result be when it's 30 products with 100 parts. Is one solution to create a scheduled task to cache it in the memcache every hour? It this efficient? I know this is alot to take in, but I'm stuck. I've been at this for about 12 hours straight. And can't figure out a solution. ..fredrik

And following css: table { border-collapse: collapse; } td, th { border: 1px black solid; } td { border-top: none; } th { border-bottom: none; } th.second { border-bottom: 3px green solid; } th.third { } ? I would expect as result one table with 3px solid green line below the second th cell. Instead of that in Chrome, I have solid green border below both the second and the third th cell. In the firefox, results are just as expected. Is this browser bug, or my code is illegal?   • Recommendations with hierarchical data on non-relational databases?

    I'm developing an web application that uses a non-relational database as a backend (django-nonrel + AppEngine). I need to store some hierarchical data (projects/subproject_1/subproject_N/tasks), and I'm wondering which pattern should I use. For now I thought of: Adjacency List (store the item's parent id) Nested sets (store left and right values for the item) In my case, the depth of nesting for a normal user will not exceed 4-5 levels. Also, on the UI, I would like to have a pagination for the items on the first level, to avoid to load too many items at the first page load. From what I understand so far, nested sets are great when the hierarchy is used more for displaying. Adjacency lists are great when editing on the tree is done often. In my case I guess I need the displaying more than the editing (when using nested sets, even if the display would work great, the above pagination could complicate things on editing). Do you have any thoughts and advice, based on your experience with the non-relational databases?

    I have some content with up to 2-levels of replies. I am wondering what the most efficient way to fetch and output the replies. I should note that I am planning on storing the comments with fields content_id and reply_to, where reply_to refers to which comment it is in reply to (if any). Any criticism on this design is welcome. In pseudo-code (ish), my first attempt would be: # in outputting content CONTENT_ID all_comments = fetch all comments where content_id == CONTENT_ID root_comments = filter all_comments with reply_to == None children_comments = filter all_comments with reply_to != None output_comments = list() for each root_comment children = filter children_comments, reply_to == root_comment.id output_coments.append( (root_comment, children) ) send output_comments to template Is this the best way to do this? Thanks in advance. Edit: On second thought, I'll want to preserve date-order on the comments, so I'll have to do this a bit differently, or at least just sort the comments afterward.

    My application stores lots of its users friends' phone numbers. I'd like to allow users to associate names with these phone numbers, but I don't want to make users manually type in names (obviously). I'm curious what the best overall approach is here, as well as the best way to implement it Overall approach-wise, I imagine using Gmail / Yahoo / Windows Live contacts is best (the Facebook API doesn't let you access phone numbers), though the gems I've found for interacting with these contacts APIs (this and this) only give you access to the names and email addresses of each contact.

    I'm working on GAE-J/GWT app, wherein a desktop app connects to the GAE-J component, and there is also a web-app component whose front-end is written in GWT, and the GAE-J backend supports both the desktop app and the web app. I have a good amount of experience with writing pure server code and desktop code, but not so much on the web-app side of things. So I'm looking to study some good sophisticated open source code to see how other's have done things, but I can't find much open source GWT and/or GAE-J stuff, other than frameworks.     I have an iPhone project in Xcode which is checked into CVS via XCode's SCM support. I have created a new folder in this project, and created a group for it's files. However, the files in this group/folder are not in CVS, and I cannot figure out how to get them in there. The usual "Add to repository" under the "SCM" menu is always grayed-out when I try to select one of the files - I would assume this is because the folder is not in CVS. How do I add the folder/files to CVS?

    I would like to make a user super powerful, with almost all root rights but unable to touch a the root user (to change the password of the root). My goal is to user "B" to manage my web server. The problem is user B need to able to run the chown and chmod commands on some files belonging to other users. I tried to put B in root group or use visudo, but it's not enough.     I got so confused loading javascript in app engine. I am using django template. In my base html file. First I can't load my downloaded jquery from local say d:/jquery.js like <script src="d:\jquery.js" type="text/javascript" ></script></head>, This line is in my base html file. It works when I load jquery from remote. Like <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js"type="text/javascript" ></script></head> I dont know why. Second, I can't load my own-created javascript to my html file, say I create a javascript like layout. Js and I try to load it like this in my child html file, which, by the way, inherits from the base html. <body><script src="layout.js" type="text/javascript"></script></body>, And it doesn't work at all, the only way it works I have tried is that I put the actual javascript in the body of my base html file. Like <body><script> $(document).ready( $("#yes"). Click(function() { $("#no"). Hide("slow"); })); </script> I dont know why either... Any help?
