• What is the root directory OR how do I set the directory in DotNetZip

  where does DotNetZip get it's root directory for saving. All the save examples don't show the directory. My goal is to recurse a folder and subfolders. Can someone provide an example of, say, overloading the + operator to work like the .. operator works for string concatenation? However, recently , I am learning Lambda and has done some basic knowledge. With that I was trying to do the same thing as under Enumerable.Range(0,9).Select(i = > { dt.Rows.Add(i,"String" + i.toString(),DateTime.Now,(i%2 == 0)?true:false); }); But I am unsuccessful. Is my approach correct(Yes I know that I am getting compile time error; since not enough knowledge on the subject so far)? Can we achieve this by the way I am doing is a big doubt(as I donot know.. just giving a shot). If so , can some one please help me in this regard. I am using C#3.0 and dotnet framework 3.5 Thanks

• Optimize inserts

  Hi! I did an importer in VB .Net witch get data from an SQLServer an inserts this data throught ADSL connection in a remote MySQL server. in the first time, it was like 200 records, but now there are more than 500.000 records and it expends like 11hours exporting all the data and that is bad, veryyy bad. • Trouble with LINQ databind to GridView and RowDataBound

  Greetings all, I am working on redesigning my personal Web site using VS 2008 and have chosen to use LINQ to create by data-access layer. Part of my site will be a little app to help manage my budget better. My first LINQ query does successfully execute and display in a GridView, but when I try to use a RowDataBound event to work with the results and refine them a bit, I get the error: The type or namespace name 'var' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) This interesting part is, if I just try to put in a var s = "s"; anywhere else in the same file, I get the same error too. If I go to other files in the web project, var s = "s"; compiles fine. • How to get HTTP status code in HTTPService fault handler

  I am calling a server method through HTTPService from client side. The server is a RestFul web service and it might respond with one of many HTTP error codes (say, 400 for one error, 404 for another and 409 for yet another). I have been trying to find out the way to determine what was the exact error code sent by the server. I have walked teh entire object tree for the FaultEvent populated in my fault handler, but no where does it tell me the error code. Is this missing functionality in Flex? • Outlook 2010 Retrieving and restricting appointments programmatically causing recurrences to be incl

  I wrote a winforms app that uses Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook to retrieve and restrict appointments based upon the date range entered by a user. This worked fine with Outlook 2007 installed, however now that some users have updated to Outlook 2010 the appointment retrieval is pulling back incorrect appointments along with the correct ones falling within the specified date range. The additional incorrect appointments being retrieved always appear to be recurring appointments. I was wondering if this is a known bug and if so what exactly is happening that is causing these additional recurring appointments to come in? I'd rather not have to throw in a workaround where I step through the items after they have been restricted and remove the extra ones, when this functionality works fine with 2007. Note: I've not recompiled or updated any code when experiencing this issue, just running the old program. This is the spot in my code where appointments are being restricted. • String.Format Phone Numbers with Extension

  I am trying to create a an function that formats US phone numbers -- hopefully without looping through each digit. When 10 digits are passed in all is fine. How ever when more than 10 digits are passed in I want the String.Format method to append the extension digits on the right. • Is this a good way to expose generic base class methods through an interface?

  I am trying to provide an interface to an abstract generic base class. I want to have a method exposed on the interface that consumes the generic type, but whose implementation is ultimately handled by the classes that inherit from my abstract generic base. However I don't want the subclasses to have to downcast to work with the generic type (as they already know what the type should be). • Get an Arduino and Android phone to communicate over the web

  I am writing an Android application to communicate with my Arduino over the web. The Arduino is running a web server through an Ethernet shield. I am attaching my code, but I will explain it here so you will understand what I am trying to do. The Android sends an HTTP request in the format http://192.168.1.148/?Lights=1. The Arduino gets the request, executes the command (in this case turning on some lights) and then responds to the Android device by simply sending the string "Lights=On". The Android will then change the color of the button to notify the user that the command was executed successfully. The Arduino is getting the instruction and executing it and sending the response but my button color is not changing. I know that the Android device is getting the string because I added a debug line to change the text on the button to the received response. • Intent.putExtras not consistent

  I have a weird situation with AlarmManager. I am scheduling an event with AlarmManager and passing in a string using intent.putExtra. The string is either silent or vibrate and when the receiver fires the phone should either turn of the ringer or set the phone to vibrate. The log statement correctly outputs the expected value each time. The alarm executes and then I change the value for putExtra to opposite string and the receiver still displays the previous value event though the call from the code above shows that the new value was passed in.   Hi, I am using gwt and postgres for my project. On the front end i have few widgets whose data i am trying to save on to tables at the back-end when i click on "save project" button(this also takes the name for the created project). In the asynchronous callback part i am setting more than one table. But it is not sending the data properly. I am getting the following error: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: ERROR: insert or update on table "entitytype" violates foreign key constraint "entitytype_pname_fkey" Detail: Key (pname)=(Project Name) is not present in table "project". But when i do the select statement on project table i can see that the project name is present.   Due to a prinitng error in some promotional material I have a site that is receiving a lot of requests which should be for one site arriving at another. i.e. The valid sites are http://site1.com/abc & http://site2.com/def but people are being told to go to http://site1.com/def. • Node.js/ v8: How to make my own snapshot to accelerate startup

  I have a node.js (v0.6.12) application that starts by evaluating a Javascript file, startup.js. It takes a long time to evaluate startup.js, and I'd like to 'bake it in' to a custom build of Node if possible. The v8 source directory distributed with Node, node/deps/v8/src, contains a SconScript that can almost be used to do this. On line 302, we have LIBRARY_FILES = ''' runtime.js v8natives.js array.js string.js uri.js math.js messages.js apinatives.js date.js regexp.js json.js liveedit-debugger.js mirror-debugger.js debug-debugger.js '''.split() Those javascript files are present in the same directory. Something in the build process apparently evaluates them, takes a snapshot of state, and saves it as a byte string in node/out/Release/obj/release/snapshot.cc (on Mac OS). Some customization of the startup snapshot is possible by altering the SconScript. For example, I can change the definition of the builtin Date.toString by altering date.js. I can even add new global variables by adding startup.js to the list of library files, with contents global.test = 1. However, I can't put just any javascript code in startup.js. If it contains Date.toString = 1;, an error results even though the code is valid at the node repl: Build failed: -> task failed (err #2): {task: libv8.a SConstruct -> libv8.a} make: *** [program] Error 1 And it obviously can't make use of code that depends on libraries Node adds to v8. global.underscore = require('underscore'); causes the same error. I'd ideally like a tool, customSnapshot, where customSnapshot startup.js evaluates startup.js with node and then dumps a snapshot to a file, snapshot.cc, which I can put into the node source directory. I can then build node and tell it not to rebuild the snapshot.
