• Facebook Connect - Mobile

  I am currently in the process of creating a mobile version of my web app. The app is being developed with Facebook's PHP Client Library. The issue: I am using the following mobile url to allow users to log in using the mobile devices: http://m.facebook.com/tos.php?api_key=APIKEY&v=1.0&next=http%3A%2F%2Ftweelay.net%2Fm.php&cancel=http%3A%2F%2Ftweelay.net%2Fm.php APIKEY being my app's actual Facebook API key. In the url I am telling Facebook to redirect the user back to http://tweelay.net/m.php when the user signs in or clicks cancel on the log in screen. I am pulling my hair trying to figure out why it keeps sending the user to http://m.tweelay.net/m.php which is currently an invalid end point. I have gone through all of my app's settings on Facebook and I cant find any that reference http://m.tweelay.net and going through all of my source code I cant find any that reference the m. sub-domain either.

  I will try to keep this as objective as possible. I've been dealing with PHP since 3 years know, I have always known of Perl but never really "dived" into it. So I took a look at some Perl code examples and I thought: Wow, It's like PHP just failed at cloning it. My questions are: What is bad about Perl? What are the disadvantages that made it so extremely unpopular so that it is actually dying right know? Why could PHP take over? What does PHP have (or what did it have in the times of PHP4) that made it rise in popularity compared to Perl? I'm rather young and the questions above are a bit subjective and I think you can only really answer them when you have experienced the rise of PHP along with the fall of Perl. Unless my question before I hope that this one here can be more or less completely answered. There have to be definite disadvantages Perl has compared to PHP that made it fall.

• Multithreaded program in C: calculating thread stack space

  Situation: I am writing a program in C that maintains a number of threads. Once a thread ends, a new one is created. Each thread forks - the child runs a PHP process via exec() and the parent waits for it to finish. Each PHP process takes the next item from a queue, processes it and exits. Basic code: http://www.4pmp.com/2010/03/multitasking-php-in-parallel/ Problem: The PHP processes are Symfony tasks and Symfony requires a fairly huge amount of memory. How can I safely calculate the required stack space for each thread so that PHP processes will have enough memory? The memory limit set in php.ini is 128Mb so should I allocate this much space in the stack?

  I am currently reading "Beginning CakePHP:From Novice to Professional" by David Golding. I am quessing that I need to link the relevant files to a-z.php and then load it via ajax. Doesn't this kind of defeat the object of ajax?? That means that I will be loading the js files on the main page and then loading them again when I ajax a-z.php I hope I made some sense.

• Drop down select to change a second drop down select automatically

  I have a webpage where I have a form with several areas to input text and two drop down select options countries is the first one and depending in witch country is chosen the second should display the estates for that country to choose. my page connects to my db from where it gets the countries and estates.... I have a table with the country names and one table for each country estates. so all I'm trying to do is making it change the states to choose from automatically depending witch country got selected with out summiting the form since that enters a new entry to another table in my db. I seen that using javascript is the way to go but can't get it to work in my case since I don't want to be sent to another page or summit the form. here is part of my code any help will be greatly appreciated. • Email form isn't sending

  Hi I have an email form that isn't sending out an email to the recipient or a copy to the client. The form can be found at www.kelcos.co.uk/contact and the files associated with this are: /index.php /jquery.js /sendemail.php /submitform.php /thanks.php /verify.php I have used this form on other websites http://www.bowlesgreen.co.uk/contact/ and http://www.arbortectreecare.co.uk/contact/ and it works fine - the only difference is that these other sites use my usual hosting provider and for the one that won't send I'm working through the clients hosting provider, which I can only presume is what is causing the problem. I have contacted the hosting and so far we have eliminated a few things such as: 'The limitation to our systems is that the emails sent using scripts will be blocked if they are not going to or coming from an email address setup on the web hosting account. - so I am now sending the form to an a kelcos.co.uk address, but still no joy. PHP/ASP was originally disabled, but now has been activated the mail() script is enabled I would really appreciated any advise any of you could offer. Thanks

If the main domain is accessed, you are pointed to index.php, and from there on, the URL's are like: index.php?p=contact etc. If, however, you access one of the other 7 domains, that point to different units, you are initially pointed to: index_local.php, and from there on it goes like: index_local.php?p=contact etc. As you may see these URL's are very ugly, can I use mod_rewrite in this scenario to make it so that index.php AND index_local.php never show up in URL? Is there any better way to do this than the way I'm pointing the user now with multiple domains in the same www-root?

My update_act.php file is <?php echo "Old Activity Name : ".$_POST['$row[\'act_name\']']; ?> But I am getting an error Undefined index: $row['act_name'] in C:\wamp\www\ps\activity\update_act.php. I want to have different names for different submits but I am not able to get its value in another page. Is there any way for it?

  fopen function is not working in php. • How to protect access to a url?

  I would need to create a php file that will do some work on my webserver and that will be called from a program on another server over the internet. Suppose the php file that will do the work is located at www.example.com/work.php What is the best way to protect unsollicited calls to the www.example.com/work.php? What I need is some mechanism so that when the intended program accesses the url (with some query string parameters), the work gets done, but if somebody type www.example.com/work.php in their browser, access will be denied and no work will be done. The way I've thought is to add some 'token' in the querystring that would be constructed by some algorithm from the calling program, a sample result could be to append to the url : ?key=randomKeyAtEachCall&token=SomeHexadecimalResultCalculatedFromTheKey and the key and token would be validated with a reverse algorithm on the php side. Is that safe, Are there any better idea?

  I'm trying to write (or just find an existing) PHP method that can take a link and extract the url. The trick is, it needs to hold under the weight of strange looking domains like: www.champa.kku.ac.th Looking at this one myself with human eyes, I still guessed it incorrectly: thought the domain would be kku.ac.th but that gives a dns error when visiting.   I have installed WAMP. I am using Tomcat 6 to run my PHP scripts. I am also using JavaBridge.war and I have copied my php scripts into \webapp\JavaBridge\project. I have removed the semicolon from php.ini file before the statements extension=php_mysqli.dll extension=php_mysql.dll I have added C:\wamp\bin into my PATH env variable. I have copied all dll's from C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\ext into C:\windows\system32 I am still getting this error. Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysqli_connect() in C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\pf_query.php on line 534 Note - I dont get this error when I run my PHP script from Apache 2.2.11 of the WAMP package.
