  In a couple of recent Code Camps, I’ve given my presentation: Top 10 Ways MVC 2 Will Boost Your Productivity. In the presentation, I cover all major new features introduced in MVC 2 with a focus on productivity enhancements. To drive the point home, I conclude with a final demo where I build a couple of screens from scratch highlighting many (but not all) of the features previously covered in the talk. • Is Microsoft Prism alive and active?

  I've been doing a lot of reading these last two days on Microsoft Prism, but the thing I'm still not very sure of is what does the future look like for it? I know that version 4.1 was just released a few months ago, but besides Microsoft's own documentation, I haven't found many blog posts written in the last year on the subject, most of what I find is 2009-2010. It definitely looks interesting but the learning curve seems to be a bit steep and I wouldn't want to embark if it's going to become obsolete in the near future. Anyone has any insight on this?

  There is a bug in the unit testing framework in Visual Studio 2010 with unit testing.  The bug appears in a very special circumstance involving an internal generic type. The bug causes the following exception to be thrown: System.InvalidProgramException: JIT Compiler encountered an internal limitation. This occurs under the following circumstances: Type being tested is internal or private Method being tested is generic  Method being tested has an out parameter Type accessor functionality used to access the internal type The exception is not thrown if the InternalsVisibleToAttribute is assigned to the source assembly and the accessor type is not used; nor is it thrown if the method is not a generic method.   I installed nagios3 on ubuntu server 10.04.1. It was working fine. Today, I found it stopped and when I tried to start it using sudo /etc/init.d/nagios3 start, it did not start. I found this in the log file: Nagios 3.2.0 starting... (PID=11729) Local time is Wed Dec 22 14:15:31 2010 Caught SIGSEGV, shutting down... I tried to remove and re-install it without success. After googling, it seems that no one has a solution for this. I don't want to install it from source unless it is really the last hope.

  I'm studying TDD and I read that it also helps you to define the design of the app, correct? So I decided to start creating a new project to help me understand it better. I want to create a simple user registration system that will ask for its name, email address, country (will pick one from a list) and phone number. So the question is... I created a new solution in VS 2010, added a new Test project and I just don't know what tests to write! Since it will help me define the design, what tests could I write here? Thanks for any help!

L'implémentation d'Unicode dans le futur langage devanait un véritable casse-tête technique qui aurait motivé ce jeté d'éponge. C'est UTF-16 qui avait été choisi pour le support de l'Unicode dans PHP, mais ce développement s'est avèré trop difficile et la compatibilité très mauvaise.   So I was playing around with NavigationNodeCollection, which is basically like SPNavigationNodeCollection just to make sure it worked without a hitch…Here is a little sample snippet of what should work: Unfortunately, you get a nice little javascript error that does not allow you to access the child nodes.  I tried a foreach() loop that gets a NavigationNode for each parent then loops through the NavigationNode.Children that did not work either.  I threw in two ExecuteQueryAsync statements thinking that would help, unfortunately adding a second statement provides no different results.  This appears to be a bug in the Silverlight Client Object Model.  I reported the error.  Hopefully, we get a fix by RTM so that we can use the easier method to get items into Silverlight, otherwise it’s back to WCF and cross domain policies.  We all love cross domain policies right? • Ubuntu not booting from USB on laptop (no optical drive)

  I'm using a Kingston 16GB USB, with the Unetbootin program. (I've tried both downloading the installation iso manually and adding it, or using the program to download.) I've tried creating the bootable USB on an iMac, the laptop and also a desktop. I've booted into the setup of the laptop and changed the boot order to make sure it boots from that drive first. (There is no optical drive so that isn't a problem.) It's an Acer Aspire AS3810TZ. Upon booting it gives this message: SYSLINUX 4.03 2010-10-22 EDD Copyright (C) 1994-2010 H. Peter Anvin et al I get this no matter how I create the USB, it just sits there. I left the laptop for an hour and it hadn't moved. I've also tried on a different 4GB USB (Generic) and that did the same.
